Hey guys, it's Tamika and I am going to be doing a series on how to properly shepherd your hair, how to develop healthy hair care practices, so your hair can thrive and grow and so that you became limp and so the circuit will go down and grow Long and get long like the way you want it and long, but versus your dream and long and strong and healthy and okay, that's enough about the long stuff, but y'all know y'all is along here. Okay, so if you haven't already, please go ahead and click the subscribe button. Yes, click the subscribe button and going ahead and click the little notifications bell. So you can stay updated on all of my videos, especially in this series, because a series is going to be packed full of knowledge about Sophie haircare and when to capture yes. So follow me on Instagram. Follow me on twitter. Follow me on Facebook. Follow me on snapchat I'm there and I put a lot of stuff on there that I don't put on here so follow me there. Don'T forget, don't do it now? No, not right now watching me the first ending okay. So yes, this is going ahead and talk about the topic of today and we are going to be talking about how to properly moisturizers here one protective style, that's reason wigs, so you can go into maximum retention modes properly. Moisturizing is very, very important and your hair burn process and I'm going to show you how to do it, so you can get started on some healthy hair care practices and retain all of the group that comes in. So this is go ahead and get right into the demo. So to begin, I'm going to take the lead back hairs and separate that from so we've here. I'M just going to take a comb and I'm going to detangle that with a comb and I'm going to clip it up and out of the way and I'm going to moisturize that care of separative. Now I'm going to detangle the week here and the reason why I just handle the weave here before I start moisturizing is because it makes it easier to get through to moisturize the hair underneath see if the weave is all tangled up and it takes a lot Longer for you to come more throughout the different solutes Ibraham the next contain where's ago. So if you detangle the hair beforehand, when it's time to separate the session, all you have to do with separate sections that are handling the first. So I'm just going to go through and this hair is long so the longer the hair is some more tangles that you have in it and sometimes go through and thoroughly depend of that and, as you can see, there's a lot of depends a lot of tangles. There I'm taking my time we want preserve the week here as well, take care of your weave hair. So you can reuse it okay, so to start you're going to be using braid spray and you can use any type of liquid spray that you would like. Leave-In conditioner or anything like that for this first step and then we're going to be using the creamy moisturizer, and this is a Camille Rose, curl as moisture butter and I'll be listing all the products I use below as well, and you can use any type of Swimming morsel, as you like, and grapeseed oil and grape seed oil, fantastic for sealing and then as alternate all and I would suggest using coconut oil into the party. But you can use coconut oil or castor oil or avocado oil or apricot kernel, oil or any other type of oil. If you like, just use what you like, it doesn't have to be what I use so the nice folks over at actually organic sent me this 100 % argan oil, and I liked it a lot and it's good for your hair and skip your skin and moisturize. Your hair well now salsa the skin so much and if you're interested, I put it in freely at least below where you can go and purchase item, it's very, very good. I, like it a lot so now I have some clips and I have my white cheese comb and, as you can see, I've already used some of those those things and they're here already and I'm just coming through one more time. Just to make sure I got all the tangles out, and so now I'm going to go section by section starting at the bottom and starting at the bottom, makes it easier, and I'm just going to put all of that here. You see up and away out of my way so it'll make it easier from the moisturize. So now I'm going to take that break spray and I'm going to thoroughly spray the hair underneath the weed and natural hair underneath weave. I want to throw this for you and it's pretty much damp and I'm going to be spraying all over the braids and onto the new rope. Now I'm going to take that clean moisturizer, not too much not too little, and I'm going to take that and I'm going to apply it not massaging because you don't want to tangle to here. You don't mess it here. So I'm just going to your petofi's it and I'm going to kind of see the instantly broken on to the braids. And then I'm going to take my breaks, heat oil and I'm just going to seal that in I'm going to seal in the moisture from the breaks grass on the clean. Now I'm taking down the next section - and you can see we're detangling - is really help. Specific hair is long and if I get increasingly the tangles in our be having to the temple here, so I'm just going to flip it up and I'm going to do the same process taking the braid spray and I'm spraying the care into it's about damp. I'M going to take the clean moisturizer and apply that to the braid and apply that to the new growth. You want to keep the new growth soft as well, because when you take down the leaves, you don't want any broken crunchy and says if it winds up being crunchy and that can cause you to have damage and breakage. And you don't want that to happen. And I'm applying to all the fields and the reason why we moisturize it, because we want to keep our hair soft and supple that way, we don't lose hair to one to take down process. The takedown process can be very grueling and that's when a lot of times they lose hair. When you pick them up and you want to prevent that from happening, that's why we must strive and we must arrive two to three times a week. So I'm flipping up the next section, I'm going to do the same thing again. So I'm taking that break pray and I'm going to spray the hair into a stance making sure to not massage I'm just patting and squeezing the part of Hana and taking a little bit of cream and I'm just going to catechize it in all over the braids. All of the new growth getting it in there quite nicely, but not too much, and then I'm going to take that all and I'm going to feel and the more started fitting. So now I'm doing this process, it makes the weave a little bit oily. So you can just use a little bit of brush time for you to get the oil out for either do a weed wash where you just wash the certain section and I'm going to do the same thing like all the way up to the top. So let me show you a close-up of what I did so you can see so I'm Jenna, I'm spraying the braids and a new growth and see with Sam and then I'm just going to Pat that in and then I'm going to take that free moisturizer, not Too much I got a little dollop there and I'm just going to begin to put that on to the new growth making sure the Negro's remains soft, put it onto the braid and I'm just going to Pat and sweep it in being generous, but not too much Because you don't want to have like tall and you've reached another here, as I said before, you can always be a weed wash particularly where you just watch the week they're only enough free, but just continue to put the clean onto the hair. Massaging that end, but not I mean mainly setting and squeezing it, I'm not really massaging like scrubbing, because I don't want to make that new group. If you're mapping, you grow that that can cause damage of linkage, numbers going to feel that with fall - and this is great seat wall so find a generous amount for the new growth and to the braid and you'd be surprised how doing this process. It really helps. Make the takedown a lot easier? If you do it two to three times, and it makes pick them a lot easier and you want it retains a lot of the hair - it's if not all of it, so you don't have to turn the pulse in just cutting a few going to end. So let me show you that again, so you can see, I am spreading the braid spray on, as I said before, you can use any type of spray. You, like you, can even make up your own sometime spraying that breaks right on to dampen the hair and I'm just patting a squeezer, and we want the product to be able to absorb through the braids. And we want the noodles to be soft and supple as well and then I'm taking the cream moisturizer. You can use any type you like, but not too much and I'm just going to start applying that to the new growth and I'm going to apply it. Also to the braids making sure the news works based off. That'S very important if you want to prevent as family can breakages possible, so the damage doesn't necessarily come from you wearing the lead. The damage comes with the weekend neglected. So if we wear you be and you take care of will be and do the same to do to do. For you be, then your hair will thrive and grow in your retain length. So just make sure that you're moisturizing two to three times a week and making sure that you can see once the people want to receive between. Where do we use and be conditioned as well as very important. So if you put the cream long you're going to take that for all and we are going to seal and all the moisture with the grapeseed oil - and I love grapeseed oil is amazing. It'S great for everything he gets Debra out of the hair, uses, knots and tangles its cleansing its moisturizing. Yes, videos moisturizing! If you can use grapeseed oil moisturizer here as well, I'm setting all the end okay. So we finished with the close-up, and now I'm just going to go ahead and finish with the top part here: go onto the same process, the spray, the cream and the oil and then patting and squeezing ends no rubbing and scrubbing, says you don't want to mess It here - and I keep saying the rubbing and scrubbing because it's very important, if you rub and scrub and it causes mats and tangles with people's breakage and damage that we want to prevent that as much as possible. If you want a hair, growing, sorry and you're retaining length, you must make sure that you kind of your hair was clear. So I just feel that end with the whole I'm going to go ahead and go to the next section and if you don't get it right, the first time just come back and watch the video you know, so you can um. You know see how to do it, but this remember this is a very, very important step, time and time again, my client I get on them all the time about moisturizing their hair, moisturizing, properly and moisturizing enough and a lot of times. They don't and I notice for the people who most arise properly and most arrived enough. They tend to get your goals faster compared to somebody doesn't do it at all, so I'm going to put the clean one after I spray the bravery and keep going to pack. It in - and I didn't put any oil on the top there, because I just didn't want to make that section in super oily sizes left all off. But if you want to put your old air that time going to going ahead and show you guys how I'm going to write the top, so I'm going to moisturize the top and besides all the parts that are left out, I'm going to moisturize that and I'm Going to be using the argan oil that actually organic sent me and it's very nice. So I'm squeezing a couple pumps in and I'm emulsifying that in my hand and I'm just going to spread that all over the entire section of the hair, starting at the bottom and making sure to get the ends because that's important so far. The hair and I'm going to massage it through the rest of the hair to make sure everything is coated. I'M going to put a couple more pumps, oil, just one pump and I'm going to multiply back and I'm going to moisturize the sides of the hair. So now the leave out is most as well, and I'm going to take a comb and comb that, through for even distribution over your moisturizers and distribution, I really like our argan oil. I really do yes, and so I'm just going to go ahead and comb. All of the hair down to blend, and it's a rather easy process and in actuality it only takes a little while. So if you're, watching TV or a movie or you have some time to spare, it takes 10 to 15 minutes to do it. And it's well worth it so just make sure you must arrive with a very important step and if you do this, you'll be on your way to longer stronger, healthier, more vibrant, hair, all righty. So now that you've learned how to properly moisturize your hair. Underneath your wigs and weaves, you can go ahead and get started on your awesome, healthy, hair care journey of growing your hair, long, strong and healthy. m4mforever23: Thanks so much for this! My biggest challenge with sewins is keeping my scalp moisturized without making my weave greasy. Can you please show us how you apply the dry shampoo afterwards & the weave wash to remove extra oil from weave? Thanks!

K T: Thank you for this. I’m getting my first sew in this weekend and want to take care of it properly.

mszeni22: Thank you! I am a wig wearer and i just did another big chop after a year of stunted growth and then a fried blow out. The fact that my hair grew better relaxed than natural while protective styling lets me know I wasn't taking proper care of it.

M-E: Thanks a lot for these tips. I do work out like 4 times a week and sweat a lot especially underneath my weave. I do rinse out the sweat with normal water everytime I do so. Do you have any tips for post work out weave/crochet braids care? Thanks a lot in advance:)

Arlinia Drummonds: I love that you don't use a stocking or net cap, that way you can get to the scalp. This is what I do with my natural texture hair.

RosePedal: thank you for making this video I have seen lots of breakage with my hair when wearing a sew in. And I always wondered why my hair would break off after I would take it out...now I know the reason why. This video has helped me out a lot...just wanted you to know that.

jazmine castillo: I love how detailed and helpful this video was, I have one question: when you do this, the weave will be very oily I imagine because the oils are going to get on the weave as well as ur natural hair, sooo do u wash it out after or do u leave it in?? How do u not get the weave oily? Especially because the sew in I’m going to have is going to be curly.

Well it has probably broke off because the stylist has not or informed me that I should moisturize. I tried to put some on it because it's common sense. And it believe it broke off last install I wish you were near me. I will start doing this so that I can retain my healthy hair. THANK YOU SOOO MUCH. I am now subscribed!!

Alby Sutton-Alawoya: Has anyone experienced any sort of a mildewy type of smell from dampening the braids multiple times per week?

Danielle: I moisturize my hair whenever it feels dry, so it could be more than 2-3x a week. Everybody’s hair is different

Jonjalyn Townsend: definitely needed this. can you do an episode on how to wash your weave? and what to use when washing and conditioning.

Clélia D.: Thank you for sharing this video. Really informative!

dcrelatives: Hi, Tamika, amazing she has beautiful hair and I usse that moisturizer my hair is growing. Have a wonderful and blessed day.

ecatheatre86: Informative weave/natural hair health care. But to the Youtuber DIY folks better to use the services of an informed stylist who's practices align with your goals to execute expertly any tricky scalp/ weave concerns. Because most don't self install weaves best to attend to the moisture maintenance regimen professionally, described if you're not especially competent in self care. Premium services such as weave installations require specialized maintenance. No one wants an oily oversaturared or moldy scalp brewing beneath their tracks. Always consult with your stylist to schedule when/how to address issues that arise and budget accordingly.

Eva Tetteh: Thanks, am gonna start right away.

L E: Thank you so much!!!

LANAE BAKER: When having a sew in is it ok to not use a net then?

Jennie Gauthier: What do you do if oil and other product gets on the weave hair? I don't want the hair to stop being bouncy and flowy. Do I have to wash and flat iron?

itskeiasia _: If you have box braids can you put extra virgin oil to make your hair grow ?

Niyyaah Sade: i needed this tip

nerdgurl402: Do you have any tips for moisturizing under net weaves?

Dai'ja Hughes: Does the dry shampoo work because that's one thing I always worry about is having limp greasy weave.. sad to say I'd skip on moisturizing until I was ready to completely wash my weave.

me: ....So...will this make my weave oily or heavy....i want my install to flow & bounce ? It looks really good u did an amazing job .

Chrisnelle Marcelin: It's difficult to prevent the weave to get greasy that why i only do a hot oil treatment for the hair under the weave few days before i go wash the weave.

I will mention you in my videos! Thanks for the tips! Subscribe!

Latasha Dooley: What do u put on your hair before going to sleep

Auntie Z: These are great tips! However, have you ever tried Girl and Hair products? I use their products for sew ins and they have the best "under protective style" products on the market. I don't work for them, but am a loyal customer because the products are so good! Check the out!
