I genuinely hope that this video helps visual learners get a better grasp on how to do feed in twists. As a cosmetology instructor I know that grasping techniques like this can be challenging. If you don't yet know how to twist, braid, how to dutch braid, french braid, how to cornrow, or how to cornrow with weave, or box braid, I have videos on all of those, so feel free to check out my "how to braid" playlist! I have tons of cosmetology based tutorials to help teach people new skills, but if there are any topics you'd like to see more videos on, don't hesitate to ask!

Until next time GlamFam, take care, God bless, and stay Glam!

You know I love you boo!

Hey glam fam Lynnwood here and today, I'm gon na be showing you guys how to do feed and twist and I'm gon na, be showing you guys on a mannequin for visual learners. So the mannequin and everything that I use in this video will be listening to scription box down below it'll, also be in the top end comment. If you need it - and if you haven't seen my tutorial before this on how to do feet in braids for visual learners, you can do something clicking me. I in the top right corner as well. Let'S dive right in and you're going to need some care to add in I've got a few different types of here, but I want to show you guys a couple of different options here. This one is already the pre-stretched pre tapered here, where it tapers down on the bottom. This is a partially used pack, so there's usually more hair in here I use the rest of the hair when I was doing the feet in braid tutorial. I think I like about this: is it's good for beginners? If you don't know how to stretch hair and all that now, if you're looking to save some money, you can also use just jumbo braiding hair. It has not been pretty stretched, though, and you'll have to look up at your stretching tutorial on next. I won't be showing you how to do that on this video. If you want more of a natural afro textured look, you can use kinky twist here or Marley. Braid hair, which basically just has more of that afro texture to it, but for the purposes making it easy in this video, I'm going to be showing you guys how to do it on the standard, pre-stretched hair. I'Ve got a braiding rack here, which is not absolutely necessary for you to have, but if you're doing these on clients things like that on a pretty regular basis, trust me a thread rack like this really helps out. You can get it typically at a craft store, but I got this one off of Amazon. I'M gon na be using a rat tail comb and I use a metal tail rat tail comb because it allows and get from more precise parting for a bit more control. I'M going to be using some shine and jam, this is optional. You don't have to use it, but I will say it helps your braids last significantly longer helps your part lines, look much cleaner and it just makes things look a lot. Neater, like the hair is cared about. The only other things that we'll be using in this tutorial is butterfly Clips like this, as well as duckbill duckbill clips like this here, and I keep them on a wristband. As I told you guys in my last tutorial, I love these wristbands because they're easily sanitized Bowl. So when you're working on clients, you can easily take it, throw it off get a new one or you can wash it and sanitize it and be able to use it for another client. So it's a great multi-purpose item. That'S honestly, really cheap. Now, with nearly any form of braiding, you want to focus on hair prep first, so I'm gon na go ahead and pin off mounts here, and these can be a pretty substantial size. It doesn't have to be anything tiny. I'M going to take that and just twist it and pinch, and that way I can see how thick it is if you'd like you can start to twist off a bit thinner, but I'm going to go ahead and have a substantial size just so that way, you Guys can easily see, and then you just place it on the braiding rack like so so it doesn't take a ton of effort to make this happen, and once you get to where you can easily feel that hair between your fingers, you can honestly see how quickly Laying hair out on the rack can go. This will save you a ton of time at the end of the style, because you're not stopping constantly to prep more hair. I should be fine with just that amount there for a single twist that I'm showing you guys now for the purposes of this braid here I'm going to instead of taking it back this way, I'm gon na go ahead and bring it up like we're. Taking this hair into a button, this is just gon na help out with giving the hair a final place and honestly to me, because twist don't hold together it's easily putting in a bun or a ponytail, it's a great way to kind of end it that way. You can ensure that you don't have a lot of issues, so I'm gon na start off with this slightly pointed there, but then I'm gon na gradually widen out and we'll come back to a point towards the middle and then we'll section this off using our butterfly Clips so just clipping this top here up and out of the way same thing goes for this bottom hair down and out of the way. Now here's where our duckbill clips like this come in we're just gon na use that to clip this excess hair out of the way on both sides. Now, if you're working with a client that has afro textured, hair, kinky, hair, curly, hair or curly hair, usually working on blown out here, it's gon na be a bit easier for you. This hair is curly, but it's not a natural curl. So a lot of times I just brush it out and keep on moving, because it's also mannequin here, but for the purposes of this I'll just say, working on blowing out here tends to be a lot easier, especially if you're a beginner, so that hairs not tangling Up so much on you once you have that hair sectioned off you'll want to go ahead and take your shine and jam, and what a lot of people will sometimes do is just take this and they'll place a bit of it. On the back of the hand like so it just basically makes it easier for you to access that gel anytime, that you need it and apply it to the area that you're braiding notice. I apply it today here, I'm not applying it to the scalp area, even though this is a mannequin. I still don't like to be in the habit of that. Typically, I'm one where I'm going to go ahead and apply it to the hair exclusively, because I don't want to do anything to clog up the scalp or cause any issues there. Now only gon na place a little bit on the mid shaft of the hair. Once we get towards the ends later I'll add some more to that section. Okay, so hopefully you can clearly see here what is going on with this hair we're gon na start off with a section of hair, and I'm just gon na part it off about, like so with my fingers. Okay, what I'm gon na do from there is we're going to take it and separate that in half just like this now we're gon na take a single piece of that here at the we sectioned off earlier and we're going to lay that across those two strands. Just like this here, I'm going to take these and turn them clockwise or toward the face. So I'm gon na work one strand at a time and you guys can kind of see how that goes there. Once I get that twisted, I'm gon na go ahead and hand that, off to my top and I'm gon na reach, underneath to get the other strand of hair, okay and then from there, I'm going to do the exact same thing here: we're gon na rotate. It clockwise or toward the face just like so so you guys can kind of see how that hair is twisting and adding right on it now notice, there's not really a knot or anything that shows at the beginning. Just because the way this hair is added in from there, I'm gon na go ahead and add just a little bit of hair to that bottom strand. Now we're going to go ahead and give it a good twist again pull it over the top and as we pull over the top, I'm gon na reach underneath and grab that hair underneath there. Now, if I want to go ahead and make that twist a little thicker from there, I can add another piece of hair in there just like so, and I'm just gon na add it into the top on the bottom. I'M going to go ahead and twist again, so just give it a good twist and we'll pass on up and over once, i've reached down to the bottom i'll go ahead and pick up just a little bit of here and we'll twist that clockwise or towards the Face as well then pull it up and away from the face. Now literally, i could do that as often as I would like. So, just to kind of show you guys, so you can see how much hair you're able to add in the feeded twist is a little less obvious when you've added hair and like this. So to me, I think that it looks very nice very natural. It doesn't give that st. have a feel as it does, if you're, adding in massive amounts of braiding hair, and it just helps to add to a certain juiciness and fullness of the twist, so we're gon na go ahead and continue that process of twisting towards it. Just like so, and I'm gon na go, I'm gon na just add in here until it becomes obvious how much hair I've edited here, because I want you guys to see just how full you can get these and it still look nice and you not see exactly Where this hair has been added in so see how that's looking there and it just nicely - fills out we're just gon na continue adding in that hair. Just like that, and as I'm going, I can decide. Okay, hey look. This looks like enough hair or I can continue adding in based off of whatever look that client is going for. I got this a little bit bigger just for the sake of trying to add some more visual to this style. Now, once I get from there, I can easily just continue to twist this hair, just like so give it a little twist pick up a little more and I'm literally just gliding my thumb across the backside there. So let me turn it a bit. So that way, you guys don't see when I'm picking up here, I'm just gliding my thumb across the backside. I'M picking hair up that way and then that way, when I twist it it adds that here on in - and I just come right on over now - you guys can see here - I'm not adding in here so notice how it starts to get a bit darker. So, of course, if I wanted to go back and say hey look, I really want to keep that nice full look, especially because, I'm adding in say a different color of hair. In this instance, I can add in that hair, wherever I would like to to give a bit more fullness to give a bit more about blonds, look to the hair and we're able to kind of update and change that look as needed. Okay, so now that we come to the end of that section, I'm just gon na go ahead and come on be a fence. I'M gon na go ahead and come on down to the ends of the hair here. So once I finish with that, I'm just going to continue by twisting it just like. I would typically do for a two strand twist or a rope braid by twisting outwards towards the right, as I cross over to the left or going clockwise with the individual twists. As I go counterclockwise with the other ones now, once I get down towards the bottom, I'm gon na add just a little bit more and when I say the bottom, I mean the bottom of this additional. I like the natural hair here. I want that to help. Stick together a bit more, so I'm just gon na add a little bit of the shine and jam gel onto the natural hair here, and that way it allows me to get those together and we would just twist this all the way out to the end. Now, if you want this to hold together better, I would definitely recommend twisting those individual strands as you go down, don't just cross one over the other. So if it begins to lose that rope, look there's a good chance that you're not twisting those individual strands enough before you cross them over. So just keep that in mind and once I get down to the bottom, you guys can see this strand here significantly thinner than this one. So I'm just gon na swipe just a little bit from one side. Add it to the other and we're just gon na give that a twist there as well, and this way I can continue that process of twisting and actually let me get you guys closer in here. So I want you guys to see exactly what's going on so when I get down here literally, all I'm doing is just rolling it between my fingers as I pass over. It feels a little thinner, so I'm gon na steal a little more and just roll it between your fingers and you'll notice. This will help it to hold together, also see how that works. Just roll roll that way, you're not having to stop and twist it allows you twist a lot faster and to me, that's a nice thing about doing smaller. Twists like this. Let me get this off me so that what you guys can see how well the end of that holds up. You can take this and dip it in hot water in order to keep it just like that, you can roll it on a perm rod or roller and dip it in hot water as well, or you can go ahead and use a blow dryer and blow dry. Smooth, but that way you guys can see this is a feed-in twist here once I would finish that I would go ahead and take it likely put it up in a bun. You guys and see, that's exactly how that works. So I hope that that helps out with clearing up anything for anyone who had any questions on feet and twists. Of course, the doing this with the same hair color that you are twisting with helps it to look a lot more natural also, but hopefully, for all. My visual knowledge, we were able to pick this up pretty well. If you have any questions, please feel free to leave them in the description or in the comment box down below.
