Hi guys today, i'm going to be showing you how to tone a synthetic wig all right. So i'm going to come on here today and i want to show you guys how you can take a wig like this, and you can tone her before. I do that. I wanted to just remind you guys of a couple of things: if you're new to my channel, don't forget to subscribe, make sure you get that little notification bell to get notifications on all the videos i do in the future and give me a like i'd really Appreciate it, we are going to be doing a huge wig giveaway when we hit 5000 subscribers, because that is our goal for this year. So, like i said, don't forget to subscribe. If you haven't yet all right so to tone a synthetic wig, you have to do this a little bit differently than you would with a normal cuban hair wig or with your own hair. We can't use the traditional products that we usually use to dye and tone, and all of that when it comes to synthetic wigs, because it is a synthetic plastic type fiber. So there is a way to do this, and i've done this with a couple of wigs. I'Ve done a lot of practicing and i feel, like i've gotten a good system down, so i wanted to show you guys how you can make a wig like this. That'S more of this warm honey type blonde, and you just want it to be more of a cool tone. You want to be more of like a platinum kind of ashy tone. This is how you're going to be able to do this, so you don't need a whole lot of stuff for this. I'M going to go through the list. Really, quick of the things that you're going to need to accomplish this first thing: you're going to need is you're going to need rubbing alcohol, so i recommend 99 is what i use you can use 70 or anything like that. What i found is with the 70. It does tone the wig really nicely, but it deposits a lot more of the second item you're going to need, which is this rit dye, more synthetic in royal purple? You want to make sure that you buy the dye more synthetic, not just the plain writ, because this is really meant for more of those plastic synthetic type fibers, but, like i was saying what i've noticed when i use 70 alcohol with this, it does tone the Wig really well, but it also deposits a lot more of this purple color two parts of the wig. I don't want it to stay on so like the cap, and things like that inside of the cap tends to be a little bit more purple. I feel like the 90 or 99 works really well to tone the wig and it doesn't leave as much of this product on the areas you don't want it to be. In the other thing, you're going to need is you're going to need a gallon ziploc bag. Um, i just did this yesterday with another wig, so we're going to be reusing and, being you know environmentally conscious, but you want to have a gallon ziplock bag. I do recommend one: that's like the freezer bag. If they're a little thicker, they have the double zipper. On top we're going to be pouring this dye and alcohol into this bag, so we just want to really make sure that it's sealed and it's not gon na - be leaking all over the place. Um. That also brings me to the next thing that i recommend not necessarily required, but i usually have this like. This is my wig bowl and i usually have something like this, because it just makes a little bit easier to work with. I can fill my solution into here, which i'll show you guys how to do, and then i can kind of use this bowl to set everything. So i don't have this bag of liquid, like flopping all over the place, and i also can put the wig in there and leave it in there and god forbid. There is a little tiny pinhole. It'S not gon na go all over my floor over my counter. It'S going to stay contained in this bowl, so i would recommend something like this like i got this from the 99 cent store. It was a dollar. Well, it's a 99 cent store, 99 cent store and above, but it was like a buck. You can get them dollar tree, whatever they're, not expensive, and that's really all you need. So it's really a two ingredient process and then a ziploc in a bowl which you should really honestly probably have alcohol at home too. Really, the only thing you might have to go buy is this: they have tons of colors, which i also use these to dye synthetic wigs as well, which i can go and put the video there. If you guys want to see how to actually dye a wig um, there's a little bit of a different process with that, but you are using the same rit dye, it's very similar, if you think about it to when you are toning, human hair, wigs or your Own hair, usually you would use like that purple shampoo to get rid of the brassy color, so it really does make sense that you're using this purple or dye. I know people freak out when i say get purple like wait. My wig is gon na be purple. No, it's not. I promise you, it's not gon na be purple. You have to just trust the process because it's going to look a little scary in the beginning, but i promise you at the end you're going to love it. So we're going to go ahead and get started with this, and i'm going to show you guys exactly how to do this step by step, so we're going to go ahead and take our ziploc. This is going to be the first step and we're going to go ahead and add our alcohol so for every 16 ounces of alcohol you're going to want to do four caps of rit synthetic, the rit synthetic purple dye. So with a wig like this, one bottle is probably going to be enough. If you want to play it safe, you can always do two bottles, and then you would just do um, eight capfuls and so on. If you're doing this with a longer wig or a more dense wig or anything like that, you're going to want to increase your alcohol volume, because you really just want to make sure that this wig is completely saturated. It doesn't have to be covered or like floating. In the water, but you are the alcohol mixture, but you really want to make sure that you can get it completely saturated and every part of the wig is going to be covered with this solution. So i'm going to go ahead and use the two bottles just to be safe. I have two bottles anyway, so i might as well use them, and these, like also are very cheap alcohol. This is not an expensive uh kind of hack at all. I feel like one's probably enough, but i'm gon na go ahead and do two just to be safe and, like i said this is kind of where that bowl comes in handy, because you can really just kind of set the bag in the bowl pour it in And you know it's not going to like fall all over the table and you still have both your hands to kind of really be able to do stuff with this wig. Oh side note because i totally should have mentioned this to you. I highly highly highly highly recommend you wear gloves during this process. It'S not going to completely like full-on make your hands completely purple, but you will get kind of this purple tint, especially if you wear false nails or anything like that. You really just want to protect your hands, protect your skin, it's also alcohol, so it's really drying and you just don't really need it all over you. So i would really just recommend, wearing some type of gloves, put a towel down on the table or wherever you're working and just kind of try to minimize the amount of potential mess you're gon na make. So i'm gon na put my gloves on real, quick and then we're gon na go ahead and pour our eight capfuls, because we did two bottles of 16 ounces um into this mixture. So when i say capsules i literally mean the cap of the bottle. So it's not like measurement by teaspoons or anything crazy like that you're literally just gon na fill the cap, so we're gon na go ahead and show you guys this up close for the next couple steps. So you can really see exactly what we're doing all right. So we're gon na go ahead and we're gon na pour our cap fulls into here one i actually took half of the bottle out, so i'm only gon na do six capfuls. So i did one and a half um containers of alcohol, so we're gon na. Do six capfuls so now that we have our dye in here, we just wan na make sure that we mix this mixture up. I do find sometimes that um you'll see some separation between the dye and the alcohol at first. You just kind of want to take your hands and just kind of massage the dye in. I know that sounds really weird, but you just want to make sure it has this nice consistent kind of burg, it's going to look almost burgundy, not purple at first. It does change color um, but you just want to make sure that this is kind of what it looks like and, of course i made a mess something outside, but that's okay um then we're gon na put this back in the bowl again and we're gon na Go ahead and put our wig in here: no turning back now, oh jesus, i'm splashing everywhere, and i really just want to push her in make sure she gets nice and wet. So once you have her in here, you're just going to close the bag up with air in it, and then you can just take this and just kind of move it around make sure you get the whole thing really nice and saturated um. You can kind of separate the hair a little bit. You can do this with your hands inside the bag too. If you want um, this is just a little bit less of a messy way to do it and then once we feel like she's completely coated with this concoction, that we've made we're gon na go ahead and zip her up with all the air out of her. As much air as you can get out possible, the less air, the better and then you're really just going to kind of liar flat - and you can just kind of liar in the bowl here and just have her sit in the solution. If some of her sticking out that's totally fine um we're gon na, let her sit for 15 minutes a lot of times. What i do is like i'll, let it sit for five minutes and then i'll take it and i'll flip it i'll flip it back around. I think my bag has a hole in it um and then i'll leave it for the remainder of the time or like we're doing 15 minutes, you can do like seven and seven or whatever you want to do um just to make sure that you know it's Evenly coated, but you don't have to worry about it being completely submerged the whole time. That'S completely fine! So we're going to let this sit for 15 minutes and then we're going to move on to the next step. Okay, so we're back and i went ahead and i um rinsed this wig out in really cold water, and i just want to make sure that i get all of that purple out of her, and this is what she looks like right now. So you can already see we have this much much ashier um, like cooler, kind of color and we're going to just go ahead and take our towel. You don't want to do any brushing of this wig while it's wet so we're just going to take a towel. We'Re going to go ahead and just towel dry, this, i'm literally just like wrapping it in a towel and hugging it hug, my wig, you can now either um. Hang her up in your in your shower. Hang around your wig head. Let her dry! You know air dry is always the best for video purposes. I'M gon na help her along a little bit. I'M gon na hit her with a blow dryer with some low heat, so i'm just gon na take my fingers and just kind of comb through her or if you have a wide tooth comb. You can also use that just be very careful to not pull a little trick or tip if you do need to kind of run a brush through her, it's actually better to lay her flat on a surface and brush that way, you're brushing into the table instead Of pulling on the hair, if that makes sense, another thing too, i will say, is: if you go ahead and you tone whatever wig you're toning and you get through this whole process and you feel like you want her to be even cooler and even more toned. You can repeat this over again with the same wig and we will be back once she's dry, so i can show you guys. The finished look, how she looks. Um i'll. Also, at the end, show you guys styling tips, but we're gon na go ahead and let this girl dry for a little while until she's mostly dry. So you guys can really just see the end result of the toning all right. So i've got to raise up a little bit more, so you guys can really see her um. I hope you can really tell in the lighting, but she is so much more of a cool blonde. Now um, it really kind of took all that kind of brassy yellowness out of the blonde down here. She still does have a warmer root up here and she does have some of this warmer brown kind of highlighted throughout her in places. That'S really not going to go away but, like i said, the blonde itself is much much much ashier. So the last thing i'm going to do, like i said, was i was going to show you guys a couple little things that i do when it comes to styling my wig before i put it on especially a free part. So i'm not a huge free part fan because i'm really a middle part girl. I'Ve already parted her in the middle, because that's just usually what i do with these guys. But you can part this anywhere. You want so we're going to go ahead and just take some of our dry texturing spray just give her a little bit of more of a styled. Look. I like this too, because it just kind of adds a little bit of volume. I like to put this right here at the roots as well. This also works really great. If you have a wig that might be a little bit shinier um, it helps kind of mattify that shininess that's in the wig and again i'm just kind of giving her more of just a little bit more volume, as you can see, she's much more volumized on This side than she is on this side. Um, i love dry, texture spray. It works really well, it's very lightweight doesn't add a ton of product to the hair, but it really just helps make it look a lot nicer and just kind of fluff her out. Just a little bit give her a little bit more volume. This is great if you have a flatter wig that you're just trying to give a little bit more lift to this stuff works really well for that. We'Ve kind of given her that natural, looking kind of wavy curl situation, and then you can always if you want take a little bit of her back, pin her up. I love to take my wigs and kind of put him back to the side, especially if i'm working cause. I don't want it in my face um, but that that's pretty much it. I hope you guys enjoy this video. I hope it was helpful if you have any questions. Let me know in the comments below. I have a lot of really awesome videos planned for you guys over the next couple weeks that are really going to show you how to really transform your wigs and do things that i feel like people want to do, but they're really not sure how to do So make sure you guys subscribe if you're new to my channel hit that notification bell. So you get notifications on all those videos that i do in the future. Give me a like if you found this video useful and don't forget, we're gon na be doing a huge giveaway when we get to 5 000 subscribers so tell a friend, and i will see you guys on the next video you
