Today, I'm gon na show you how to weave together sticks to make a really cool chain reaction like this. I'M using these are large style wooden, craft sticks or popsicle sticks, which you can buy online or from a craft store start by taking three of them. Lay one end of the bottom one over the top of the middle one like this, then take the third one slide it over the bottom one and underneath the top one like this once you've done this, they won't quite sit flat on the table. They'Ll be sort of propping each other up next, take another stick and this time slide it underneath the bottom stick and over the top one the opposite way round to the last one. We did hold them in place and thread to the next stick underneath and over. Like this, then repeat, the process tucking. The next stick in here make sure it's all firmly weaved together and you should have something which looks like this: carry on taking sticks and weaving them under and over to grow the chain. You will need to use one hand to hold it down to stop it all springing apart. When you add a new stick, it holds the last one in place, so you can slide your hand up as the chain gets longer. It does take a little bit of practice when you want to stop just tuck the last stick under bring it across and tuck it under the stick on the other side to hold in place and that's how to weave all the sticks together, you can see it Actually forms quite a rigid structure and if I'm really careful, I can pick up the whole thing and even twist it around to detonate it. We simply need to unclip the original corner here and what what happens? Pretty cool huh. We release the stored energy. We created by bending the sticks and get this amazing chain reaction as it tears itself apart. Watching it slowed down, is really quite spectacular, they're pretty simple to make and once you've made a few. It just takes some practice once you've got the start sorted. It'S just a case of adding more sticks to the weave. I definitely recommend holding it. This way around see what happened when I held it like this. But what is really cool is we can actually angle and manipulate the weave to go around corners for this one? I built a big u-shape on the table and I pinned it together. You can see how the weave changes on the corner. It really has turned quite a sharp corner and when I detonate it it's over in the blink of an eye slowing it down, we can see that the speed at went around the corner actually flipped over the back section of the weave, pretty crazy huh. I wanted to try this with regular sized lollies or popsicle sticks. You can see, they are significantly shorter. It just seemed to be springing apart without being able to hold it, so I'd definitely suggest using the larger sticks. I would also suggest making one on the floor. This gives you more space and, if you're doing it on a carpet, it makes it even easier to push the new stick underneath to extend the weave. If you want to have a break, you can hold the weave down with a weight and resume when you're ready. I finished this one off when I'd built a nice long train all the way across the floor, but when I detonated it, I didn't realize the door had swung over the top this kind of stopped it in its tracks. Until I opened the door off it, pretty cool to see, though, and slowing down the footage of it is really fun you, I hope, you've enjoyed watching this video. DeathsHood: Many years ago, my older brother stuck several dozen popsicle stick spring-things together into a rough sphere and handed it to me. Being 5 and never having seen the spring-things before, I thought it was the coolest thing ever, until it was actually in my hands and exploded rather violently in my face, pelting me with flying popsicle sticks. We suffered a lot of trust issues for a while after that, lol.

Lisa Knobel - A Joyful Noise: Very interesting to watch after I had just watched a video on how a bead chain creates a similar effect of rising above it's starting point when it is released out of a glass. May a collaboration video to come?

Max Lington: people saying he can say "pretty cool huh?" without getting old but the comment section will never get old

Max Kimpland: Funny thing about this video... The same thing was done on The Big Bang Theory, and it looked really cool and fun, but now, thanks to this video, I can make one at home

Silpi Dalui: Others: let's use this stick to make ice cream This guy: Let's do chain reaction

Dr Bingie: I’m going to do this to my friends for a Christmas prank.

Saeed Alawadhi: Thanks I needed it for my science project we are doing chainreactions

Tedreal: Pretty cool huh! I wanna see 1 hour of this chain reaction

Lunalgaleo: This is SO cool!

Miss Swiss: I can imagine that while you weave with sticks, the sticks charge up either slowly or rapidly, ready to burst out that trapped energy. I'm either wrong or right, can someone correct me?

HelloHi: I remember back in school we always do a house made of popsicle you can pick it up and its still intact.

CaptainNerd: Basically a "Prince Rupert's tear" made of sticks instead of silica molecules...

DarthKratos: So if you made a circle it will never break?

Phong Huynh: This channel now reminds me of my childhood, it's been years, and I'm tearing up

notperson: me: little brother i want to keep watching this because it's so cool! little brother:ugh why? me: it literally breaks the laws of physics!(i know it doesn't) little brother:ugh me:it's basically illegal little brother(suddenly interested)

Commander Rowboat: 100% recomend this is so cool!

wizeird: the door holding it down is a neat thing. i'm picturing this being held down by a gate with the stick chain going along a path through a backyard, garden, etc you could very lightly sprinkle dirt/dust/sand whatever the path is made of over it to hide it. then when someone opens the gate it would be as if they spooked a ghost as the chain would go off lifting a cloud of dust quickly along the path.

Ennou: Use it to see if someone used the door, make a short one, locking it under the doors and if someone uses the door it springs off

Nargis&Ñãgrįś 1987 2.2: Thank you for helping me learning

Yart: Idea: Make a stick weave but instead of sewing it shut on both sides tuck a unstable side under a door to scare the soul out of whoever comes into the room (Note: this only works correct if they PULL the door)

chloe: This adds a whole new meaning to “I’ll snatch your weave”

Sidarthus: I remember making these in school lol

Gira R: Imagine taking hours making this and then one stick comes undone and the whole thing is immediately destroyed

Aiden M: I used to make these, I called it a stick bomb. It was time consuming but satisfying as hell

VaporeonVortex: but what happens if you loop the chain around and attach the ends together?

ProbablyNaz: Thanks Dave, your vid got rid of my insomnia

Rahman Elahi: someone sees the chain reaction: dave hax; pretty cool huh

Doodmydood • 48 years ago: THIS IS _AWESOME_

Can't find a Creative Name: You must have had a lot of free time to be doing this

VaporeonVortex: someone should make a world record category for "worlds longest stick weave"

Sugar Cafe: Omg this is what i am finding when i was a kid now i just found it i am so happy

Pan Diaxik: 6:46 put the chain under an almost closed door and it will fall apart when someone will try to open the door. If you put a bell just over the chain it will be an interesting alarm

Oliver G: Awesome! It’s so cool! It’s a wave but stick’s!

LUM1NOUSXD: old dave hax: pretty cool huh. Future dave hax: Pretty crazy huh.

IDenti-D: Ah. Now I completely understand how this works. Lmao onky 10 years later

Omie: Make a chain reaction with popsicle sticks they said It’d be fun they said

Christmas Snow: I think if they were in different colors that would make it easier to see, but it's a nice demonstration.

lysol whipps: The sticks: *when the chain reaction starts*- Everybody do the wave!!

Dr. MeadStufer: We will never forget, “Pretty cool huh?”

Jeoffrey Moraga: "Pretty cool huh?" "Pretty crazy huh?" "Pretty cool to see tho"

Biscut Boi: The stick weave is basically my life.
