In my head, it made so much more sense for me to come and film at my dressing table, and i thought oh that's great. That means i don't have to move all my products and my dressing table and my hair, dryer and stuff it'll be so much easier if i just come and film in the bedroom, forgetting that actually, instead of just moving like some hairspray, i had to move my Entire filming setup into here instead, so not sure how i decided to do that um, but hey that's why lucy doesn't work in logistics in that process of moving everything into here. I'Ve realized that the jack of my headphone wire has snapped off inside my camera. So i can't use my microphone, i'm hoping this is going to record some sound, but it does mean that you might be able to hear a slight little clicking noise. As my camera kind of focuses in and out, it makes a little bit of a zooming noise, and normally you can't pick that up on the microphone. But today you probably can just imagine it's flow purring in the background. That'Ll be a cute sound effect, rather than an annoying one for anyone who was a great believer that there's just a tiny monkey in my head playing the symbols over and over. I feel like that. Intro was perfect proof of that just utter nonsense. Let'S properly start this video, hey guys welcome to my channel, it has been a really really long time since i've done any kind of like beauty in action type videos i used to do quite a lot of them. I used to do like makeup, testing, videos and stuff. I don't think it'll surprise anyone to know that i realized that probably wasn't the career path for me. I can't do anything along those lines, so this one might be a little rusty. It might explain why i'm feeling a little bit awkward and confused about how to start this one. But if you watched my last video - or maybe you follow me over on instagram, if you're one of the cool ones around here, you certainly will. Then you may have seen recently that i was very, very lucky and actually had a hair appointment booked like days before london went back into full lockdown. This was before christmas now, so i've had it a little while this kind of new haircut um, but i went for a bit of uh. I guess it's like a 70s kind of vibe um, it's a little bit kind of boho and swooshy uh. It'S really different for me, but i've been really really liking it every so often from certain angles, especially when it's wet like this. Is there a certain kind of mullet, vibe yep, i'm not mad about that, though - and i know what this is gon na sound like because literally every person on youtube and instagram is like i've had so many requests to show you my ombre lip and that's exactly What i'm about to say to you right now, but honestly, this is a very highly requested thing that i've had people asking me to do is to show you how i style my new 70s boo. So i guess this is going to be a little bit of a like 70s style hair for dummies, uh, no offense, i'm not calling you a dummy, i'm calling myself a dummy because i am absolutely catastrophically terrible at anything to do with like fancy beauty procedures of Any kind, but this new haircut i've had does actually require a little bit of certain sun to make it presentable to the world, otherwise the mullet literally does take over and the mullet is like large and in charge. I think the like magical, mystical bit, that people actually want to see is how to do the like everyone's calling the curtain bangs these days. Aren'T they apparently that's what i have. I got curtain bangs, so um, i'm going to show you curtain bangs for dummies um curtain bangs, for if you have absolutely no skill or prowess whatsoever um. This is how you can do it. As you can see i've just washed. My hair have not yet dried. It um, but these are the products that i've used so far. So this is the shampoo that my hairdressers told me to use um. This is by a brand called davines which i'm not really familiar with uh. It was really expensive. I don't it's really expensive. I don't think it's particularly worth what i paid for, but hey, if you want to treat yourself to a lovely luxury shampoo. This is a great one uh. This is called the momo shampoo, which makes me laugh because i'm pretty sure that that terrifying, like stretchy face that's like internet folklore, is called momo. A moisturizing shampoo for dry or dehydrated hair smells like melons, it's really nice, and then i follow that up. So i guess this is maybe like a little hack that i as far as hacks, go that i can provide you with for hair. This is one of them um, so i don't really use conditioner. I just use hair masks every time i wash my hair. I use a hair mask as conditioner because i feel like if it's, if it's like super enriching and like extra nourishing i'm going to choose that one i like to use this. This is the bed head beach, freak um. Why do they all have such terrible names? Beach freak moisturizing detangle - i just had this vision of like i think it was a character on one of the buffy episodes. There was like a big sea lizard that kept like eating men. I think, and they were like all found on the beach. So i guess that was a beach freak. This stuff smells lovely and i spray it fairly liberally through just the ends of my hair and that's just a detangler spray that helps get all the knots out see this. This is when this haircut doesn't look at its best when you get these real kind of ben from a1. Curtains next step is to brush it through when wet. I either like to use a wet brush for this or i'm particularly liking this one at the moment. Just like a detangling kind of tangle teasery type brush um, but it gets through all the knots in my hair really really quickly, and it feels very gentle and i really like it i'll link everything i mentioned down below, because when you're brushing it the little fringy Bits really kind of excel themselves. You two are gon na. Have this hairstyle, you need to go for an actual, proper center parting, which really really gives me strong. Like year, seven flashbacks, you know what i actually thought earlier. Oh, i should probably include a hair defense spray in this, because people will be like you should use a hair protectant, i'm not going to lie. I never remember to use hair protective spray. Why lie i'm just going to quickly blast through my hair to like get it as dry, as i can? Basically, obviously, i won't show you that, because that would be horribly, noisy and very boring um, but this is the hairdryer that i have these days. This is the mark hill hair dryer. I feel really bad because the cat is sleeping so beastly and she's literally gon na hate this. The hair dries like her least favorite thing in the world. This is the big moment. This is like the end of act, one where all the drama happens, because this is the moment of truth for the swooshy side curtain bangs, and this is how i like to do it um. So i feel like it takes a little bit of practice. I'M not gon na lie, but my hairdresser assured me that this was the best way to go the easiest and quickest way to go. It'Ll. Take you like one minute every day once you get the hang of it, so i'm just holding this like cindy lou who and the trick to this - is that you need one of these bad boys a big barrel brush, not a basil brush. I'M gon na try and make this as helpful as possible in very, very like dummy terms. You want to kind of like lock the barrel brush under your fringe, like that so kind of really tuck it in there i'm right-handed, so i use my left hand to hold the brush, because that requires the least concentration in my head, and then i use my Right hand to hold the blow dryer and then i'm gon na have to put some music over this bit, but hopefully you'll be able to see, and then what should happen is because the hair has kind of like been heated over this. When you remove this, it should look horrendous. I look like the boy you were dating when you were 50.. All i need is like a tiny little furry tash and maybe a lip ring and we're there um, so it kind of curls under itself like that. I might even do this a little bit more to get as much bounce as possible. Basically, you want to lock your hair around this brush as much as possible and like rotate the brush um, so that it really molds your hair into that, like curly shape, and then it falls on your face, and you literally you look like this and you're like What have i done? This was the biggest mistake of my life, but then this is where the magic happens, because you find your parting again. I don't know how it happens, i'm yet to understand the magic behind that transformation. Look at that! That'S the swoosh, the swoosh action right there, that's what we're looking for. So it takes a bit of practice seriously, as you can see, i'm still not particularly good at it, but that's that's the action you wan na you wanna get good at so i'm gon na whiz through and drive the rest of my hair and then i'll. Do the next bit? This is like the roughly dried version of this haircut that i've had so i thought it might be quite useful to just quickly show you um, like the kind of shape that i went for my absolute golden tip is always always always take photos with you, because, If you're anything like me, you won't have a clue about how to describe this. The type of shape that you want to your hair you'll just be like. Oh i'd like a little bit of this and then maybe like just a couple of inches, just a trim. Just to trim the only way to go if you're, as clueless as me, is to take photos with you and no exaggeration for this haircut. I literally made a pinterest board and i took the pinterest board with me and was like. I would like this still got. My layers in there, obviously i had these front pieces cut in and it's a lot um a lot kind of lighter than it was before. My hair was very, very heavy. If you go back to like just before christmas on this channel you'll see it was hanging. So heavy around my face, it probably looks a little bit more modern like this i would say, but i think this haircut really comes to life, and my hairdresser told me this as well. This kind of, like shaggy kind of style, looks a lot better and comes to life a lot more when you've got some shape and some kind of wave and curl through it. So when it comes to curling my hair, i'm very lazy - i don't like doing it, but i'm quite lucky in that when i do curl my hair, it stays kind of vaguely messy and wavy for a few days, so i don't have to do it very often. So when i do it, i like to do it properly, there is also i was going to show you this as well. Um ghd i've got this tool, which is called, i think it's called the ghd rise and it's basically like a hot brush um and it's the equivalent of like a big barrel brush but already heated, and you can do amazing things with this. I haven't quite figured out how to use it. Probably yet i keep sitting and like doing 20 minute sessions like trying to figure out how to use it, get like a flick at the end and everyone else is getting big. Bouncy curls and it looks amazing, so um. I need a bit more practice with this, but if you are a bit more of an expert than i am, this might be a good investment. If you're going for a hairstyle like this, because it's kind of everything in one, so this is my tongue of choice these days, so this is fairly new actually, but this is the one. This is the one and i feel like it, gives my hair the best curl that i like that i like to see um. I think it's actually on sale at the moment as well. I got, i think, it's about 25 quid off this when i bought it. Uh, it's in the ghd january sale, so i'll link it down below. If you're looking for a new curling tone, my ghd straighteners, i've literally had them. Since i was about 15 years old, they were my absolute pride and joy when i was a teenager, because every single hair on my hair had to be poker straight. I was so proud of them, and they've lasted for such a crazy long time that i wants to go for ghd again for a curler. This curler will probably do it all for you to be honest, um and as long as you've got some of these big old crocodile clips. Um remember when you were little and you'd sit like, and let me tell you i can't curl my hair for [ __ ]. I i'm absolutely terrible at it, but the beauty of this kind of style is that it almost looks better the messier it is, and the more kind of like slightly lived in that it looks um, so that works out perfectly. For me, it's a fairly kind of chunky, little barrel um. It reminds me of the curler that my mug used to have when i was little that had like gas cylinders that went into it. I don't know if they still exist, but that's what it reminds me of. I always think as well when i like clip this up to do the bottom bits. This hair shape looks really nice when your hair is like half up half down princess belle move over love. I take a piece probably about that big. This takes me a while, which is why i don't like to do it very often, and why i try and embrace the messy look. Take the curler wrap it round under the clippy bit put the clip down alpha. Why does lucy never make hair tutorials? That'S probably why let me try this bit instead, keep it under there for probably like eight seconds. I don't know, never really thought about it before until it feels right until it feels like you're just about to become that girl whose hair snapped off look at that. A beautiful little curl it's in these moments as well, when i'm like curling my hair sitting with no entertainment in front of me. I have real deep existential thoughts. Oh look at that. It'S a corker! Don'T really worry about like making sure it all curls the same way or whatever like, as i said, i think honestly, the messier the better. Even if i wanted to curl my hair all in the same direction, i genuinely don't think i could do it. I basically just have to curl my hair in the direction that my brain lets me, because i can't for the life of me figure out how to position everything properly. My hair tools really control me and i just have to let them do what they want. Basically hope for the best, if i try and curl this this this way like i do, i basically just have to let it do what it wants to do. Mary mother of god, it gets so hot under here, like i would love to be able to curl this. Why do i end up like twirling around? I think it must be something to do with like hand, eye brain coordination or something turns out. I don't have any it's probably the same part of your brain, that's really good at catching things and doing sports. I don't think i have it see these bits around the front here are probably like the most important bits, because they're the bits that you kind of see when you're chatting to someone, so i do like to like give those bits a little bit of extra. I give it a little spritzer hairspray, but not too much, because i don't like it when my hair goes crispy um this one's quite good. Actually it absolutely stinks. I have to give you a warning in advance. This is the mark hill, miraculous, nourishing, hairspray um. It'S really good, i feel like it does the job, and it definitely holds my curls for a couple of days, but literally smells like a bad night out smells like sambuca and the other product which i've had in my drawer for ages. I just never ever used because i never used to put any movement into my hair really um, but this is hair by sam mcknight. I don't know who that is but uh. This is the cool girl. Barely there texture mist if there was ever a product name that should not belong on my shelf. It'S probably a product called cool girl, but with this i think this just adds a little bit of extra. You know a little bit of extra judge and what i like to do with this actually is spray. It really really lightly onto these bits and then almost kind of just like tease it into place. I should probably give this like haircut a little disclaimer as well. These bits might look quite nice, but they are really freaking annoying. They do like they do my head in quite a lot and days when i'm not really making much effort. I usually have like this clipped up like this and then this bit like scrunchies to get out my face most of the time. Those bits end up, looking like this, but on days where i can be bothered to style it and make it look cute. They are really nice just to kind of loosen things up. I like to kind of like, if i just run my fingers through it like that it breaks up the curls a little bit and just kind of gives it more of like a messy finish, rather than any actual curls going on basically curl it. However, you want the only bit that really matters are these bits? If you get this bit sorted, if you get your uh your big barrel brush - and you become a pro with this, then you're sorted. That'S all you need to know if you're thinking about mixing it up and going for something a little bit like this uh i'd say totally go for it. I think it's a really cool like versatile hairstyle. You can make it kind of like as retro looking as you want, or you can make it quite modern. I think, but yeah that is my little dummies guide to 70s inspired hair. I hope you enjoyed this. I hope it was vaguely helpful if you like me. Absolutely clueless when it comes to hair i've come away with, i think, maybe four hand burns happy, curling, happy, bouffanting, happy, swooshy, fringing and i'll see you very soon with another video bye.

Jeni Skinner: we loved the average girl tests make up as its a proper test for us normal girls! but we love any of your content xx

Nicole C.: The fact that I’m not the only one who did the whole “crocodile clip on the lips” thing is, just, the best feeling.

Lucy Hannah: I literally have this haircut and didn't even realise it was 70s inspired! It looks gorge on you x

Sharon Speed: I have never been able to curl my hair the way that others do. I love the fact that you curl your hair "the way your brain" figures out how to do it. I absolutely love it! Thank you!

Charlottee’ Smith: This hairstyle suits your face SO WELL♥️ I’m really wanting to get my hair done like this too- thank you for this tutorial

Laura Butterworth: Love your videos - i love that my mum had one of those hot brushes thing - she always used to use it for "dinner parties" when I was a kid in the 90s! I am also a member of the crocodile clip brigade :D Also it looks very Kate Middleton!!!

Deb Chapman: As an American girl.....when you do an American accent, I die laughing! So good! And such a fun video! Thank you for sharing.

Jessica Price: Honestly, getting a curler without one of those clippy bits and just the barrel was life changing for me in the 'which way will this piece go' hair journey

Jo Stewart: I appreciate a lot you cutting out the noises of the dryer. I have immense sound sensitivity and not having to worry about the sounds is very good

Anna-May Moon: Loved this :') I love how you've found your style era in the 70s, idk why it brings me so much joy <3 I always go for a curly blow when I get my hair done (as my lovely hairdresser says "this is just what your hair was BORN to do" hahaha) but like my god I watch her do it and I'm like... I could TRY doing that at home but I would so totally get the brushes stuck in there, so big kudos for you going in with the big scary brush haha

NavyRoses: I've watched youtube for 10 years and always have something on in the background. But you and the content you upload is hands down the best there has been! So funny & relatable I just can't ❤❤❤

TheVelvetFox: Loved this! I have the same hair style just shorter and I’m still learning how to get the ‘fringe’ right i related to many things in this video, especially the hair clip lip thing. I also used to put the longer clips onto my fingers and pretended I had claws

Lorna Traynor: Love the Pinterest board, I did stuff on Pinterest boards for my wedding and it cracked my sister up. She was helping me make my Pinterest board wasn’t best pleased love your hair btw! You suit it so much

Martina: “That’s why Lucy doesn’t work in logistics” cracked me, I’m still laughing

EW: Yessss I needed more Lucy content in my life and I've been loving your new hair on insta! No way in hell I'm going to be able to recreate this with my curly locks but a girl can dream

Rachel Innis: I've had curtain bangs for about 10 years and have always used straighteners to get the swoopy bang. You take the hair like you did initially holding it up, I usually do one side at a time, and from the root you lean the straightener back (as if youre curling it, but over the top of your head) and straighten over the top of your head. The twisted action effectively adds the under-curl you want, and the more you've tipped the straightener the more swoop youll get if that makes sense. I stg it's actually so easy and fast.

Monique Ruiz: Favorite part: “Princess Belle, move over love!”

Kiera Sullivan: I love when you do impressions and accents, and today for the first time I caught a bit of an Irish one haha! Love it! Also, going to go try to style my bangs this way today. Wish me luck.

Katie Masson: Your hair looks great! Definitely suits you This definitely helps me with my now over grown fringe as I'm trying to grow it out and am now struggling with what to do with it haha!

Charlotte Middleditch: Ok, you actually just saved my life just fallen back in love with my hair cut

bookishventure: I fully understand the confusion of hair curling, for the life of me, I cannot comprehend it lmao

JeSSiMKah: I used to have a fringe just like this and I can agree it was so annoying! Also watching you try and style your curls had me cracking up, I feel the struggle

08emily89: Curtain FRINGE Lucy! Stay true to your roots

Joanne Lee: Thank you so much for posting this! Been thinkin bout this do' and you pull it off so well! Love any and all of your content love so keep it coming

Anna Swanson: Saw this and immediately ran to the kitchen to make toast so I could watch while eating breakfast and in that time you got 200 views. You’re amazing and actually inspired me to make my own slightly less successful chanel

Stephanie5Alive: Oh my gosh I found you from carries channel but I was literally looking up 70s hairstyle tutorials right before I watched her video.

Siobhan The Collector: Love this on you! Its 100% your style. Do you have any good book recommendations for the new year?

Jessie Wilson-Farmer: I love Davine's Momo shampoo and conditioner! I first used it as the complementary toiletries on vacation at Universal Studios Florida. By far the best hair products I'd ever used. And the smell is amazing. I wish it weren't as expensive as it is so I could get it more often.

BrandyBranchesOut: Truly only watching for Lucy. My hair is naturally wavy/curly and I've never owned a curling wand in my life. I have the same fringe but imagine it sticking up at a 90 degree angle then curling back down directly into my eyeballs

Azura Skye: Hair looks amazing. I've never curled my hair like that. May give it a go! I open the curlers...run it down my frizzy hair to smooth it a bit then curl over the clip and I don't burn my hands that way...well, most of the time.

Ralitza82: Dear,Lucy, I just love watching your videos. I always end up laughing. You are such a beautiful person. P.S. hate curling my hair, because I suck at it. P.P.S. Still doing the hair clip thing myself :)

Clare Ogilvie: Almost peed myself @8:03 brilliant Lucy, you’re the best x

Polina Claes: Gorgeous! Loved the whole video

Sarah Jenkins: You look gorgeous! I struggle curling my hair. I normally only do it when it’s a special occasion. I have dyspraxia and I can’t catch very well. You could be too.

chelsi wilson: I'm 27 and still living my pink back combed scene hair days (RAWR forever am I right? cringe) But I absolutely loved this video and watching you is just like hanging out with a friend. Hope you are all well and coping ♡

internetexplorer: I went to my hairdresser after a year in December b4 everything closed again and cut of 8 inches, then one more, she added the slightest of layering and THANK GOD all it needs is blowdrying. Anyway it turned out like my pinterest board and it looks way better than the former tangled mess on my head

Nina Hollister: I use Davines! it's lovely stuff. Lasts about 6 months for us. Your hair looks lovely!

Emma Scott: You could also probably make do with a big velcro roller on your bangs if you didn't want to mess with the round brush!

Kendall Park: "Ive had sooooo many requests to show you my ombre lip" hahaha you kill me

TheGirlWithTheFlowerTattoo: So I decided I would shake things up a bit this lockdown and try some curtain bangs. I didn’t do too bad a job cutting them... but I did make the mistake of having the rest of my hair too short to look cute with it. It’s kind of shoulder-length and wavy... now I just look like a 70s guy It’ll probably grow out enough to look cute before I need to leave the house again though

Saartje Vermeulen: You may already know, but why not use a flat iron to curl your hair.  Much easier than a curling iron.  Oh and btw I really like your spontaneity.  lots of love. x

Elle Simmons: I felt like I was watching this video on a old wooden ship that was creaking in the wind and waves! Not complaining - I'd take a broken mike over no Lucy content any day!

Eilidh Johnston: i'm so glad i'm not alone in the confusion with hair curling haha

AliceCashew: This looks so nice!

Anna Fremantle: Buffy episode is swim team/go fish from what I remember! Definitely going to try styling my hair like this - Also just saying, you look so hot! In love with the style and makeup

internetexplorer: Me watching this when my hair is shoulder length with a subtle fringe only because it's a Lucy video

Verena Stephan: could I ever style my 3b curls like this? No. Am I watching this anyway because I can’t miss any content from Lucy? Absolutely. ❤️

missvictoria62: So jealous of your rough dried hair, I look like Hagrid until I straighten or curl my hair after drying. That GHD wand is my favourite too. Love the new do, it really suits you

Azura Skye: The boy you were dating absolutely cracked me up

lara: No indeed, i am also a hair dummy (but ALSO don't want to put heat on my hair and damage it further, so I kind of have an excuse to never style my hair ever). We have look 1) open hair, freshly washed and flowly and look 2) greasy hair in a messy goblin bun

Sathya Premachandra: i love how your videos all basically just have cold opens now haha! big fan

Alana: I use a hair mask instead of conditioner every time I wash my hair too!

TwiceUponABlueMoon: Just something if you wanted to get your curls to last longer is that once you drop them off the wand it helps to catch the curl in your hand and hold it up so it’s almost scrunched to the head a little if that makes sense. Once the curl cools it will set better and last longer and it won’t ‘drop’ as much and lose it’s style so quickly when you let it fall. I mean it’s a big ole loada faff-hooey to do with the amount of hair you have, but hopefully it might be helpful to someone big love, awesome content as always x x x

Agnes: Because of the lockdown here in NL I'm still unable to go to the hairdresser My hair is getting so heavy just like yours was but I'm scared to add layers myself, I could never lmao

Terry Leslie: Get yourself a heatproof glove. Worth the money, and helps you to get into the small bits and stuff without the burns x

Lauryn Maclaughlan: you are looking so good! loving this video x

Stephanie Fetterolf: You curl your hair just let me. I don’t feel so alone anymore

paleo pilot: Love it!

Just Pandora: Gorgeous! X

WalkingAlongLife: I baisically have the same haircut but don't style the rest of my hair... I don't have a haircurler but you have me convinced that it is a good idea to look good :P

Valarie Loiseau: Love the fringe!

Jade Lauren: Your hair is gorgeous

Marta Cruz: The bit about ‘the boyfriend you had when you were 15’ gave me intense flashbacks lmao

Amy Towler: A Lucy upload day is a good day!

Louise D: This is what I’ve always wanted but my hair is much shorter than yours now. Can you show which pics you used as inspo pleeeease ?

Lisyah: Love this you look fab! P.s. it sounds like a little mouse is nibbling away behind your camera?!

Rachel Hebert: 1. Girl, I don't think you're lazy for not wanting to curl your hair. You just have so much of it takes you so long. I'm the same and I can't remember the last time I got around to curling all of my hair. Just the visible top layer for me, thanks. 2. I find it easier to just wrap your hair around the curler without opening the barrel 3. Why did you simply putting that clip on your bottom lip open up a whole compartment of memories?

Laura G: Literally screenshotted one of your insta pics to take the hairdressers as inspo

LakasitasANDgarrotes: I had curtain bangs last winter...all I can say is I don't have Jen any more. I just don't have the time for it, hosnestly. It's just that they're a bit too high maintenance for me. Love how they look on you though!

Melissa B: I am so glad I'm not the only person whose brain stops working properly when they curl their hair!

JMK: Love your hairstyle. Very Jaclyn Smith Think that was her name, from the original Charlie's Angels.

Carolyn G: Is this hairstyle Gilmore Girls inspired? Omg the 'gas cylinder curling tong' my mam also had one of those and turning it on was like lighting a hob on a gas cooker

Georgia Jaycee: Giggled the whole way through. Also making me eye up the scissors

Leilani: This is my third tutorial and I still can't do this

Alana: Also that episode of Buffy is the one with the swim team on performance-enchancing drugs

Faith Barber: Could u not try an air wrap? Dry and curl the same time x

WideAwakeAsleep: Wow "Ben from a1 curtains" - that reference takes me back!

Julie Bee: "I look like the boy you were dating when you were 15." Oh man, YOU SEE ME. Why did we think that was sooo attractive? I blame the emo punky rock music scene. Le sigh. I have a very different hair type than you do, and yet I was riveted the whole video. Something about your demeanor feels so cozy, like I'm hanging out with a good friend. So glad I stumbled upon your content a couple of months ago! The algorithm doing something right for once.

Kristin Levier: i need you to make an accent video. your american one deeply pleases me

Maddie Milligan: Can I be the person to say you’re using that curler in all the worst ways? for what you’re doing you might as well just wrap the hair round without actually opening the tong, but what you’re meant to do is clip the end of the strand of hair inside the tong and then twist the curler to wrap the rest of the hair round it, if that makes sense

Claire Young: When you put the clip on your chin it really took me back man lol

Lily Vanilli: Well hi swoooshy hair goddess!
