Mara

Hi everybody during this video, I'm gon na, tell you a bit more about my hair. It'S texture! What I do with it generally and also we'll spend quite a bit of time on the fringe, because I think it's everybody's concern at the moment. So there we go so my hair now is in its absolute natural state. I sleep with my fringe up just because I don't want it to be in my face oil or I don't want it in my face. When I sleep it's just it's more convenient. I don't want it to get too greasy because fringes and sebum it's not a good match, so I kind of pin it up, but here you have just my natural hair texture. So first question that I get a lot. Do I dye my hair. I do not, and I haven't dyed my hair in like ten years, a hair color. It is dark blonde light brown with ashy undertone summer is about to stop. So I'm pretty sure that my ends will get lighter. As you can see, you've got lighter pieces, but it's all due to the Sun. I don't use any bleaching products. I don't use any shampoo that can change your hair color. My hair texture is naturally straight, we're still a bit a wave, but it's not that you know I'm not curly, I'm just straight. I'Ve got lots of hair lots of hair. I tend to people don't be alive, how much hair I have until they see me until they run their hands through my hair. I have lots of hair like really I'm super hairy, so the trick to have a fringe that is kind of autonomous, so low maintenance. You don't want to spend your whole day trying to fix it. I'Ve asked my hairdresser to cut it in a feathering manner. Every time a hairdresser comes like me, with scissors like this, I scream and I ran out the door. It'S super ok to have a straight fringe, but my style is a bit more. It'S in between curtain and this lights. You know nonchalant French girl, French. So let's unleash the beast to everybody that says your fringe is always perfect. Let'S see! So that's what it looks like when it's not styled how good so I'm not gon na go out the door like this. I could I I sometimes do, but you know it's not the point of this video and I've got a cow's lake right here. So I get I've managed that so there we go the bits around my that frame. My face are longer because I want to have some movement some dimensions, so the fringe is cut very lightly, almost layered, depending on your hair texture. The fringe won't look the same, of course, if it's curly it will curl and it's pretty quiet of a conic branch. I always say it, but people tend to get quite self-conscious with their curly, hair or curly fringe. It'S so great keep it. I wish I had curly hair. Isn'T it always the case, though you have straight hair, you want curly, that's gon na be hair. You want straight human nature, even though I have lots of hair. It'S not that thick. It would do that. Naturally, if I let it hair dry, I would look like you know: seventies, hippie girl in LA so I use either a blow dryer with a round brush, but lately I've found that using a straightener, very thin, one I'll show you in a minute was a little Bit better and quicker and time-saving, and sometimes I will keep that part open in the middle and kind of you know just style it around my face. Sometimes I would just go for a straight bang, and sometimes I just stay behind when I don't want to see that world. This is my straightener, it's quite thin. I hate to do that. Looks like a real beauty. Blogger, look for travel travel hands right now because, as they are made for traveling, there are super super tiny and they go so well under the frame they allow more control over what you want to do then it's quite it's quite easy, didn't invent anything um. I will still do sort of the curved motion to give a little bit of volume, as you can see, I'm kind of turning it inward. So it's it's. Naturally it will sit on the side of my face. That'S what I want I'm tempted to say that's pretty much it once my fringe has the desired movement to ensure that the fringe stays matte and full and soft, and to make sure that it will manage itself. I used a lot of dry shampoo, I'm using the batchest original dry shampoo in France. I used a Clark Lohan. I was with sick Lorraine and is the clothes on dry shampoo for brunettes, because my roots are a bit darker than the rest of my hair. So lately has been loving this product by plier. It'S called the soft volume powder and that's exactly what I want. What I do is I kind of lift my roots and get some powder in and then massage that kind of lifting the roots that will keep my hair looking matte and fresh and light for the rest of the day. I like that bouncy feeling for the rest of my hair. There are different things I use to make sure that my ends are not dry. I do coconut oil mask. I just lather my scalp massage. It really well kind of make the blood rush to your scalp, which helps with growth and then on the rest of my ends. I am not shy with it. I put lakish a handful of coconut oil in my hair. Let it sit for an hour or two or overnight, but then you will have to change your pillowcase. It just cleanse it twice or three times, even for the rest for daily use. I do really use conditioner. Since I use coconut oil, I would not use a conditioner when I wish my hair, because it's too much what I love to do, though, is a no rinse treatment. I'Ve loved that one from Gesu it's made out of honey and I've used it quite a lot. I love it, it smell so good and it's so hydrating and another product that I love is from Playa again and it is their new day miss it's like a hydrating water mist and to finish off some Gesu oil. Oh my god. It smells oh yeah, and that is it for what I do with my hair on the daily hair is really important to me. It does not define your beauty nor your gender, nor your value in any any way you can be so beautiful, with short hair, no hair or lots of hair curly hair. I think the main thing when it comes to your own beauty in your own sense of self is how do you accept who you are, and how do you translate that to the outside world? So to me, even though I have manageable easy hair, that is not the target of discrimination, because it is the case men and women are being shamed for their hair texture. You know they are being asked to change their hair nature and go against their own self. So that's something that I found infuriating and I am aware that I'm not suffering from that. For me and in my story, I've struggled with ending lots of hair because when you've got a lot of hair on your head, you've got lots of hair the rest of your body. When I was younger, I would be called names because you know when I started growing here as a little girl. Like you know, body hair, which is related to how much hair you've got on your head normal. I felt the need to hide my hair and overall, as my modeling career started, I was constantly constantly you know the hairdresser's will arrive on set and be like. Oh my god, it's just too much work. You need to cut it. You can't have your hair long. You can't have so much hair because it's not easy to manage, so they would. I would always end up like this, because it's easier and nobody wanted to deal with the amount of hair that I had so many times. I went and asked hairdresser to to make my hair thinner, so they would cut inside the hair. Huge amounts huge chunks of hair, so it would be lighter and then I felt like it was not really me and I was missing the weight. I was missing. The the you know, the feeling of that I was and as soon as now with, because, where I'm filming this video when we're facing, could be nineteen, and so this break has allowed me to take a break also on my hair and let it grow back. I will not let anybody else dictate what I should do with my hair, because my hair is my property. It'S my body. If I want it long, if I want it too thick, it's only pink I'll. Have it that way and it's your natural hair texture. It is a trigger to somebody else, or somebody else has a comment on your natural hair or anything that belongs to you. Nobody, if you decide to shave it if you decide to have it green if you decide to wear accessories in your hair, if whatever you want to do with your hair, that is your rights and nobody else can say anything about that. So on that note, I hope you all find beauty in your journey towards self awareness and self knowledge being aware when you go against your nature, it is one step away from the vine that you aim at yourself. So all right I'll see you later. I hope you enjoyed and bye

triplerosez: as a person of indian origin with super wavy curly hair in a chinese dominated country, every trip to the hairdresser is a nightmare where my natural hair is just called unhealthy, frizzy and too dry, everything you said at the end was like a warm hug! got bangs now really happy, lots of love

Lina Kondrateva: I’m very happy that you are here and I hope that you will continue to share your worldview, convey how important the value of each person and their independence is, even in such things as hair. // I didn't like long hair on myself since childhood because it was very tangled and for me it was a personal hell and sometimes I cried. later I grew them again succumbing to the influence of my friend and realized that it was not me. my mother always says that short hair is not feminine, and also to have a thin figure, but I think that this is wrong, because you don’t allow a person to reveal themselves, to show the world who you really are. give people freedom regardless of gender. ❤️

Isadora R.: not just a beautiful person outside but as well inside. I loved the respectful way that you presented your "hair story", being honesty and real, but pointing the big picture in such a sensitive and intelligent way. LOVED IT SO MUCH! Anxious to watch more videos in this channel.

Sarah Mitchell: I’m so happy you’re here and that you made this incredible video. Thank you! I had tears in my eyes watching the last bit, as someone who has struggled with very fine hair, being told I should want it thicker, getting hair extensions for volume, etc etc. I’ve since begun the journey of growing out my natural hair (have been colouring it for over a decade because of not loving my ashy light brown hair and wanting it richer, darker, or blonde or red and everything in between). The long and short of this is all to say, this video meant so much to me, thank you. xx

LeAnn's Fear Cocktail: Feeling anxious last night I decided to cut my long bangs short. After seeing the results my jaw dropped and my mouth has been open ever since. Watching your video has given me hope. I have naturally curly hair and live in Santa Monica , CA. The ocean makes my bangs sooooo curly and am going to buy a travel straightener today. Thanks for the video!!!

Emily Shea: Loved your rant! I also was a girl growing up with the challenges of a ton of hair. Nice to see a "beauty vlog" pointing out the importance of self-awareness and acceptance.

Mr. W: There are lots of beautiful women in the world, but it's the inner beauty that makes you one of a kind. Charmed and subscribed.

Lea Kubicová: Your hair, Your voice, Your face, Your sweather! Everything so beautiful! <3

Emily Elizabeth May: So wise gorgeous girl! I recently posted on Instagram that I wanted to get bangs, and I had so many people tell me not to do it. It made me really upset, I didn't think they had a right to tell me. I've been a model for 11 years, and recently quit. I'm so excited now to finally be able to do whatever I want with my hair! Thank you for what you said at the end of this video. It just gave me more courage to be myself xxx

Katya Maisel: Mara, even when u are speaking about hair you "make an accent" on more important and deep things, which for people is a good point to reflect. When you are talking about self love and self esteem you really give inner strength, just love you as you are❤

Saloni Rai: It’s so great to see you on your own YT channel... you are gorgeous, have great style and have such a cool personality ..excited to see more vidoes up soon:) Good luck!

Nur Madhiha: i dont mind watching mara talk for hours ❤

Megi: So happy you finally have a youtube!! i was hoping you would make one ever since those videos with parisianvibe❤️you’re so sweet and beautifulcan’t wait to see more videos angel

Hanna Oganesyan: Thank you for this video and for the right message you are giving to the young girls. Sending you love and wish you all the best

anonymouslee: I love your “rant” at the end. I can relate as I have SUPER thick hair that is wavy and frizzy, and as a Korean-American, every time I went to a Korean salon and asked for what I wanted, I would be told by the hair dressers that they knew better and would proceed to cut chunks of my hair out to thin it and try to convince me to get hair straightening done which would make me feel like something was wrong with my hair. Now that I’m older, I appreciate my type of hair more and more for its unique qualities and really fight back (even though I shouldn’t have to) on what I think is right for me.

Beth Strickland: honestly one of the most beautiful people i have ever seen! i love your cardigan so much, where did you get it from? ✨

Manisha: Mara! You did it! Firstly, I love your accent so much. Your English is great bro. Secondly, your hair are really beautiful and the lesson was quite amazing. Lastly, thank you for always raising self awareness, the reason why I love you so much, you have a voice and you use it. You're like a good friend with advices and lots of jokes here and there... (they are funny okay) can't wait to see more from you!

Vena Amoris: That is why I’ve been cutting my own hair for several years now. It hurts having to apologize to hairdressers for having lots of hair. That shouldn’t be a sin. And I shouldn’t have to thin it out to make it easier for others.

Athina K.: One of the most gorgeous women inside and out I’ve come across on Instagram ❣️ Totally envious of ur hair! I wanna get a fringe like that so badly but i have wavy hair ugh

Caroline Oakes: I love that you're doing YouTube! I found you on insta and it's so nice to see you doing videos too :)

Petite cuisine le dimanche: Thank you very much for sharing this video with us

madd madaline: Loooove it! Such a beautiful hair! And also you are pretty and so french but funny at the same time and so down to earth. Love to see more of you on YT. ☺️❤️

Miss Butterfly: I first found you on Instagram because i really dig your content and the way you pose. Now, i’m already here and i admire you more! I really love your style and confidence. ✨

Ela xxx: You are gorgeous inside and out. Love me a good fringe video, I feel like having bangs is a full on lifestyle! Ever since I got mine I have been loving them and I am never going back!

Andrew Cruz: *The accent the accent the accent ... beautiful*

Rob Linn Bailey: Mara is honestly the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen and as if the beauty isn’t enough, god goes one more and adds that accent. Unbelievable. Some people get all the luck.

Nickie: Your energy is so radiant and genuine I love your personality and the rant you had at the end was so inspiring “Your going against yourself”

Sarah Shaban: You're so pretty! I love your bangs so much, I'm planning on getting some curtain bangs soon and this video helped me a lot so thank you for making this video! Again, you look stunning. <3

Zhaviyah: Your hair is definitely not straight - it is wavy perfection.

Christinn Chan: Love your rights!! No one has a right to ask you how to behave..

Gessia Gijon: Bonjour Mara! I love your hairstyle and really nice message about be yourself and free style. It's 2020 let's be unique

A. Bramwell: I appreciate her comments about hair texture discrimination as a Black woman. We all just want to look our best and look like ourselves without negative judgment. So many varieties of beauty, but sometimes not looking like her (even she was teased at one point) can make one envious because it’s the look put on a pedestal.

hotpink000: Omg yass content queen!!! Please do make up tutorials, skin care routine (morning and night), favourite jewelry (you have amazing necklaces), workout routine / diet

まりや: I was looking forward to YouTube like this;) I want to see your mix and match outfits in coming season. I love your style soo much❤︎

Seda Dilek: I love your style ❤️ you should take more videos, pleaaseeeee ❤️

Birdy Tiger: So beautiful, eloquent, interesting, intelligent. Glad I found you ps. You’re English is better than mine and I I born in the U.K.

Heather Griffin: So glad you share the hair vids! I’m OBSESSED with your fringe and it’s totally making me want to chop mine off!

Linda Caffalette: It was as if I was telling the story about myself & my own thick hair trials while growing up. Mine however, was very "curly" & thick ....so difficult for my mom to manage when I was a child & I would cry during our hair sessions. I decided to chemically straighten it for many years but that chemical treatment was very damaging and my hair also become very porous. After that I went back to growing out my natural curly hair without the straightener but did color my hair so it did remain on the dry side & back then the products did not have the natural conditioning & nutrients as they have today. Thanks for sharing your story!!!

Pau La: I would LOVE to see some videos in french

Myfrenchlifestyle: So true! I have crazy hair : a lot of texture, a lot of hair and they are curly.... I worked in finance and I got discriminated because it was too "sexy". I hide my hair, constantly try to straight them, make them thin ect... It kills my hair! But it wasn't me.... Yes I have a lot of hair, and I am not going to be sorry to be naturally "sexy". I stopped finance and I am so glad my hair are back!!!

Natalia Pavliuk: Wow, you are so beautiful, everything in your look screams that you have great personality

Flamingoes: The thing you said about violence is so true. Since I stopped curling and messing with my hair I feel so much more at ease. Be. yourself. people!

Sevi Stavropoulou: You look like 90's Michelle Pfeiffer but with long hair. Glad you make a youtube channel❤️❤️❤️

You Are Amazing! Yes You!: Beautiful! Hairdressers say I do not have hair... they say i have a mane! I just laugh because Im proud of my celtic red hair. Its like a mantle... a quality I love to let go free and wild :-)

Wendy Fuselier: I love this video and the inspirational channel! I have a hair question..you sleep with your bangs up..what about the rest? Do you leave it down? Do you use a certain pillow? Also wet/damp or dry? Thank you and thank you for the kind honest words :)

Rohan Kambeyanda: Congrats on the new channel! love your HEAVY subtitles

B: You're really gorgeous inside and outside! Thanks for the encouraging words & could you make a video on how to deal with body hair please &/or how to take care of your hair if you exercise? Also what shampoo do you use? Because my hair used to be sooo much more and voluminous, beautiful etc...but I dyed it & started "experimenting" with natural remedies & products without sulfates, silicone etc. but now my hair is frizzy, less, gets dirty faster...

Shin Perez: "Oohh I hate to do that, I look like a real beauty vlogger" hahahaha

Jessie Ellen: I love your accent I’m currently learning french, the most beautiful language in the world xx

Jeanne: i have so much hair as well and i love it so much and would never think about thinning it out ! btw i wish you told us a lil bit about ur haircut ( not fringe ) but its alright! love you :)

Meldoesmakeup: Love your bangs but also, your brows are so beautiful!

g p: You make me want bangs.

Elodie Shpaizer: Please do a video on you everyday makeup look!

Chezeex: I love your hair,looks good. x

Seda Dilek: we want makeup videos ❤️

Jillian Green: That’s exactly how I feel every time a stylist tries to thin my hair out. After when if feel it or go to put it up I would be like where did all of my hair go. It always felt so light and thin with no weight. I would always think to myself hold up, don’t tons of chicks pay tons of money for extensions to make their hair seem thicker. So, why would I want thin hair. Also always much shorter than I asked for. I swear they did it on purpose! Never again, it makes me feel uncomfortable too

Rose Cooper: I’ve been seeing your photos all over Pinterest you are absolutely beautiful ❤️

Sorya Eap: Super vidéo merci ! J’ai une question, à quelle fréquence vous utilisez le shampoing sec pour que ça n’irrite pas votre cuir chevelu ? ✌

Anne V: I have always wondered, why so many people feels insulted by the way you look?, I don't know why makes people to think that they have bussiness in the way you want to wear or your hairstyle, I found that very ignorant and stupid honestly... Great words about how we have the right and the last word on how we decide to look like.

Emma s: So naturally pretty . Brooke shields vibe xx

Lena Schirinzi: Sublime comme d'habitude

Vrushali Deshpande: I love her voice...

Alyssa Langlet: Pourquoi j'aime tout ce que tu fais ? ahah :) un coucou à Vivian !

Paola Andrea Martino: I love this ❤️

Abraham Jerri: Beautiful on the outside as well as in.

Sami A: Wish I had this hair texture so easy to deal with

G Graham: 1:27 lmao relatable

The Soul: Thank u so much for sharing

Tina Nikolic: you are so wonderful!

Vanessa Venturi: So beautiful!

Ahmed Kira: so pretty! ✨

melanierosalie: You may have curlier hair than you think if you use the Girly Girl Method and or read the Curly Girl Handbook! I have the same hair as you and used to see it as straight with some waves, but now I actually go through life as a curly :-)

Mahda Firoozei: babe I think you pronounce the G in Gisou like you would the word girl, glass.. etc. it actually means hair in old persian language. the creator is a persian blogger

alabastas: when you said you have a lots of hair and so in the rest of your body i totally understand. i do have a lots of hair and so while almost EVERYONE especially girls kids used to point my arms and it became an insecurity for me. the difference is that as my hair is darker so my body hair IS darker too.

Priscilla Jane Fumero: I love your style you are so beautiful

Every Haircolor: love your hairstyle here!

Lissy: Does anyone know how to name/ describe her fashion style in this specific video? Like the kind of vintage romantic jewelry vibe with the cardigan plus her bangs... idk haha i feel like there would be a style aethetic to put this into but i can’t think of it.
