I Tried Cutting My Own Bangs... A Very Bad Idea :/ (Gone Wrong)
Don't ask me why... but I thought it would be a good idea to cut my own bangs at home. After watching many Brad Mondo tutorials, and random youtube videos of others doing it, I bought myself a £5 pair of hairdressing scissors and a £6 bottle of wine (for afterwards as a backup in case everything failed) and felt pretty optimistic. I felt pretty prepared and also had my mom, who's a hairdresser but lives in Canada, as my lifeline to call in case things went wrong. My goal was to get that sort of wispy, wavy/curly bang kind of look. Tbh I'm genuinely surprised by my results.... :') This was a major fail.

Is this a good idea? No is my mom was a hairdresser going to approve this also, no, but do i care? No. So if you couldn't tell by the title of the video, i am going to be attempting to cut my own hair. Oh, i know not. My own hair, just my own bangs, i was going to cut my hair and do layers and all that stuff, but you can kind of mess up your bangs and pin it back, but you can't really hide a bad haircut unless you put it in a bun. All the time which i mean i kind of do, but you know i got the idea to do this two weeks after my last haircut, which was like a month and a half ago, and i thought instead of spending 50 pounds on another haircut just for my Bangs, i thought i would spend five pounds on a pair of cutting scissors from amazon and another six pounds on a bottle of wine, because we all know this could go one way or the other. It'S either gon na be really good or it's gon na be really bad, and this wine is here for both cases. So hopefully it goes really good. I was originally going to film a tipsy cutting my bangs video and then i woke up this morning and i was like that's a really stupid idea, more stupid than cutting your own bangs at home. So i'm gon na leave that idea out of this video. Sorry, if anyone wanted to watch that, but instead i got some coffee, this is going to be my comb because i don't know where i put my feel like i threw it out, but i also don't think i did so. I don't know where it is. Oh, i'm actually really nervous for this. Am i gon na ruin, my hair? Fine it'll just grow back. You know just grow back, so i watched a couple videos before i feel like. I have a good grasp on what to do and what not to do, and hopefully i'll be able to do it. I'M gon na leave you guys right here, because i'm gon na start looking in the mirror. So the first part of this is sectioning, so i'm gon na do a little triangle. Oh, i know that's a big! That'S a circle! Okay! I'M just gon na use! My fingers! Oh no! That'S! Actually! That'S too much! Okay, i feel like that's good right. That looks pretty good. I feel like the triangle's a bit big. So let's push her back looking good, we do have a lifeline. I just want to point out. We do have a lifeline, my mom's a hairdresser, so the worst comes to worst and i'm in a real big dilemma which, hopefully i shouldn't be. We can call her, hopefully she's awake she's in canada. That looks like really thin, though doesn't it should i grab more? No, you can go big, but you can't go back, go big or go home does not apply in this situation. That'S gon na look real straggly, though huh. Okay, maybe, let's take a little bit more. It'S maybe like just a little bit on the sides. No, that looks like a lot that looks like a lot so much easier when you watch someone on the internet, do it and it's not your own hair, like okay, ready guys, i'm gon na cut it one two three. I am not qualified enough to do this. Okay, look at me go in the many tutorials. I should probably say this as i'm doing this. They were saying to cut up and not across because apparently that's bad, don't ask me how, but that's apparently bad. How far do i go until it's like acceptable? I'M just gon na like point it forward and just like take off a little bit. Oh, that was a lot where's that glass of wine. When you need it, you know how i said we had a helpline. Well, we're gon na go college now because i don't know what i'm doing. Oh, my god mom. I need your help. Should i should i take more hair from the back, but it doesn't look easy. It'S parting! Funny i ruined my hair. I thought it was gon na look cute, don't go too much; no, no don't do the ends too much, but go in the middle a bit more when your scissors look cramped in the center a little bit more. Just like this yeah there's no technique to this. I'M just like, oh no, you went too far. You probably would be better dressed. Would you say i need to do anything else? Should i should i do the sides maybe like just try to like? No, i i feel like this could look. Okay, if i styled it, okay, so yeah, that's not really good news. Um they've told me to stop, but i low-key feel like going. I feel like i can fix this. You know i'm gon na prove everyone wrong. Let'S start with this. Let'S try to make it super straight. That'S in my eye, my mom said not to touch the sides, but i'm gon na just touch this side. I think just a little bit. I really hope. Brad mondo is not watching this. It'S gon na be so bad. I know it looks bad, but i'm going to now style this and see if it looks better. So let me give you guys a little update since i've been gone. You can probably tell my mood it's a lot like. I think it just like kicked in what i did during the moment. I was really like feeling a lot of adrenaline and now i've just crashed. So after i got off the phone with my mom, i went to the washroom and i did the thing she told me not to do which was layer, the sides of my hair. Well, i definitely took stuff off because i freaking cut my hair, so i was like you know what i got ta make the other side equal, so i just cut this to match the other side. Also, what was i expecting? What was i expecting? It doesn't look bad, but it doesn't look good. It looks like i had a complete meltdown. The good thing is, oh, my, oh, oh, oh! No. No, i'm just saying the good thing it just keeps getting worse. I was gon na say. The good thing is. I could just put it behind my oh, you know. No, it doesn't look too bad yeah. Just go like that. You know nobody's gon na know, but yeah, i think um my days of trying to cut hair over this is probably the worst cutting bangs at home. Video and it's my own video, like i literally want to cry everyone made it look easy, like you know how many videos i've watched, i even watched the ones where brad mondo was reacting to them screwing up and they still didn't. Look that bad minus like when they cut it up to here. You know why, because my curl pattern is not really consistent. I have like a ring like here like what is it doing? It looks like a picasso painting, like you, know, the one with the clouds yeah. I hope you guys learned a valuable lesson. I i sure, as hell did don't cut your hair home. Don'T cut your hair at home. The lord! I didn't do this tipsy. Thank the lord. I didn't attempt to give myself layers because that would have been so bad so bad. You know what i'm gon na do before i go. I will try to straighten the bangs and i'm just gon na see what they look like. This is gon na, be the first and last time you guys see these bangs, oh okay, that doesn't look too bad. I could do that little 2009 side, bang, so anyways, i'm gon na leave it off there. I had serious hair envy, like bangs gave you that extra special something! PS Sam villa has some great bang cutting tutorials here on YT. One thing I realized was I had to have a marker of how far to cut. For me that was pulling the hair down and cutting at the tip of my nose, using that as a "marker" to remember to always cut there.. Once released, point cut, and styled they would fall just past my eyes - perfect length for side bangs for me :) For what you're going for I would aim for a little past halfway down your nose. HOpe that helps!

I love them! I just style them daily and leave the rest of my hair curly unless I straighten it all.
