Welcome back guys, my name is jake thompson, hair thanks for tuning in for another edition of jake's tips and tricks. Today we're going to be doing a pixie haircut, we're going to be talking about hairlines fringes, bangs, you know texturizing removal, removing weight. All of those really cool things that affect when you're cutting hair really short on somebody. So without further ado, let's do that. Have you ever considered cutting your hair short there's, a lot of big questions to ask yourself: is it going to look good on my face? Am i going to look like a boy? Am i going to look like a girl? Is it going to look right on me well in today's video i'm going to be showing you things to consider if you want short hair, so weight removal face shape? Do you have the right hair texture, for it stay tuned, guys, videos coming right up the first thing you want to consider when cutting your hair short, you want to dissect somebody's face, shape now, dissecting their face shape. Let'S just look at it like this: do they have a longer forehead? Do they have a longer chin? Do they have a wider face in here to make it super simple? What do you want to hide, or what do you want to enhance okay everybody's face shape? Is completely different, everybody they're, like fingerprints, so consider it like this. If they have a large forehead, maybe a fringe would be a little bit better if they have a longer chin and jawline. You know maybe want to soften up a little bit of so it doesn't bring so much attention to that area avoid like really heavy points in this area, because it'll only make it look wider. So those are really simple things to consider again. Everybody'S face shape is different now, with short hair. The thing you want to keep in mind is that you can't really hide behind a lot. You can soften up features and that's what we're going to do today. So i'm going to show you some really cool things on how to soften feature, remove weight, and the other thing to consider is their hair. Texture is the hair straight wavy curly frizzy, of course, the curlier and the frizzier. It is the shorter you cut it. It'S going to really condense to the scalp. This is going to be more on the wavier straight side, and so we can cut the hair to our desired length. It'S not really going to shrink up too much, but take into consideration that and the way you texturize in that is also going to affect how the hair lays so keep that in mind. Those things will vastly affect the outcome of your short hair. With this first section that i started this bottom hairline piece as you can see, i was taking it out at 90 degrees. I was cutting that and i started to cut all the way around rounding this out right through here, and you can see how, as i was starting to point cut. I was point cutting really really soft into that to create a very soft line along the bottom. Now this next section that i take down, i'm going to be just basically following this up and we're going to be following like that following the head all the way through here to create this really, like short pixie shape to it. So let's go ahead and do that right now: okay, so you saw that next section took this up: okay, we're following the head shape right through here, as i started to follow that section. You know this basically started to turn into this time, so it went completely horizontal like that. If i could follow that shape just through there as well, you can see how that's starting to look through there. So, as you can start to see, you know you can start to see how the shape is starting to come alive and, of course you know it's a mannequin head, so it's starting to kind of bubble out a little bit when i go to finish it, i'm Going to make this super super smooth through here. Another thing i want to point out is that this mannequin that i used, i created two different types of coloring techniques and i'm going to link that video right here. So you can check out why i colored it like this. Of course it's a shorter mannequin head now, so the coloring technique looks a lot different. It'S going to look very very choppy over through here. So if you want to check that out, check that out right over here, as i start to move on to the top you're going to start to see how i'm really just going to follow this along. And i'm going to leave it a little bit longer in the fringe, because i want to go in and create more of a structured fringe and i'll do all of that a little bit more dry. So let's finish that off right now guys! So, as you can start to see, as i finished up the top, i took everything in pi sections right and then those pi sections leading right into the fringe through here. We have these a little bit long right now like which this could totally work for this shape and, as you can see like this, pixie could really really work. You know it's got a little bit more volume through that, but i am going to go through and blow dry this and really smooth this out, and then i can really start to go in and remove weights. The haircut is only halfway done at this specific point. Right now it's only halfway done, meaning, like i always like to finish the hair, dryer and then i'll refine everything, and i always let my customers know that. I'M, like you know this like right here, we're only halfway there, let's get into it, because you can start to really personalize the haircut for the individual. Remove weight here remove weight here, wherever it is to where you're starting to make it work for their specific face shape. So i encourage you guys, if you're a consumer watching this and or a hairdresser, and if you're, considering big change with your hair. You know the hairdresser: that's working on your hair should really start to take into consideration everything about your face shape, so let's go ahead and re-wet this and then we're going to dry it. So if you've never blow drying your hair with a comb like this, you know you've got this. You'Ve got the wider teeth. You got the finer teeth right through here. I blue dry, this whole head with a comb, and the reason for that is because i don't really want to create a ton of volume in it, and i was using my comb to really just kind of push down tension with the blow dryer. So having the blow dryer back through here with this coming down here, so you can really compress that so if you've never blow dried, your hair with a comb before this is a great way to blow dry fringe. There'S another video that i filmed not too long ago, where i cut a good friend of mine. I cut her fringe if you want to link to that video i'll, show you how i actually achieve that and blow dry a very compressed fringe as well. So if you guys have never done that before, i would highly recommend checking that out so and, as you can see, i want to point out here really really quick. You can see the difference of color like this looks super splotchy over through here this technique and then right through here. This looks really kind of natural where some of these highlights are coming through. So if you were going to color this, i probably would not do something super chunky like that um i mean you could, but i would probably um color and i would probably just paint some of those ends to where you had a darker root and everything else Was light and then you went through and you texturized, and so you were kind of creating a lot of movement like that. It doesn't look super super bad, but if it's laid down just like so it can look pretty splotchy like that. So i'm gon na walk. You guys, through here, really quick how i'm going to cut this fringe now. Cutting this fringe can be super super important because i want to do something fairly aggressive, and so what i'm going to do is i'm going to take my scissors just like so, and i'm going to start to cut down like that, so i'm going to take some Hair and i'm just going to keep cutting now, i'm cutting the top portion of this fringe. I have not cut the underneath just yet i'm being very careful about the long pieces. I don't want to cut those off just yet, and the reason for that is because that's really what's going to make this whole thing kind of come alive. I, like the short pieces coming up in here and so i'll, take just a little bit of that and i'll start to talk down with my scissors. As you can see, i'm not going super super aggressive with it. It'S not like i'm just snapping down like that. Now, as you can see, i started to really just kind of refine in right through this point and that just kind of took out that weight, and so now this is going to really hug in nicely somebody that has a really nice high cheekbone. This would be a really good technique for them right through there and what you're wanting to do is you just wanted to take your scissors and you're wanting to talk with them down into the hair? You can actually put it. You can actually touch their scalp and bring that out, and i always talk with the scissor, i'm not slide cutting. You know slide cutting you're going to hear that ripping sound, and you can't hear that ripping sound right now, as you guys can start to see, the really cool thing is that it's really starting to come alive. You know that fringe is what took it from ordinary to extraordinary, so keeping in mind. That'S always why i save it for last, especially if i'm doing some sort of shape like this. How am i going to texturize right through here and remain and have some of that texture? So one of the things that i always like to do is i'm going to go through and i'm just going to cut pieces out like so now. The cool thing about this is you're, going to be cutting texture into the hair, which is fabulous and that can make it to where the person doesn't necessarily need a ton of product in their hair as they're. Starting to because you're cutting out that texture, which can be super fun, and so i use a blunt scissor to create some texture in there or some irregular lines, and so when you can create some irregular lines in there, you can really make sure that, no matter What less product the textures cut into the hair? Alright guys! So we have finished my pixie today, i'm going to walk you through here, really really quick. Some of the last things we did here is you saw what we did with the fringe, all right, taking holding some of that piece and cutting that direction down, and so we were cutting off the top portion of that fringe. And then we started to cut off the bottom portion of that fringe to really open up and create long versus short lots of irregularities in that fringe area, then what we did is to create and cut some texture throughout the rest of it is taking horizontal sections And then cutting out notches literally almost cutting out space within that haircut. Okay, now the reason for that and as you can start to see, there is going to be a lot of texture throughout everywhere, and so we cut that main basic shape and then i'm going in instead of just point cutting. I literally just went in and i took out a square, a square you know and going through and just cutting out that texture. Because again you want to make sure that i don't want the hair to lay all bulbous around. Let'S put some product in here and i'm going to show you guys how cool this is going to look alright guys. So we used two different products in there we used a powder grip and then we used a little bit of a taffy on the ends. To really just kind of create so much texture in there, i hope you guys dug what we did today again. This can be worn by oval face shape. You can be wearing this from a pear face, shape, making sure that it's not going to come to like you're not going to have too much hair through this specific area, because if it's a pair of face shape, they have a little bit more width through there. You could wear this on a round face shape. You could wear this on square face shape and again you know there are things you would have to tweak a little bit more length through here um. You know not as much through that specific area, so guys thanks for tuning in, i hope you enjoyed it.
