In this video, Kenna trims my fringe and gives advice on how to do the same at home. Please remember that scissors are sharp, and that your fringe is near to your eyes!

Kenneth is going to cut my fringe because it's got far too long and I just kind of wanted to know how to cut your fringe yourself really. Well, I know: there's gon na be a stage where I'm gon na be away and you've got a fringe. That'S it's kept. It kept at the right length rather than cutting it too short, and then it grows in after a week or two. We keep it always concerts. Looking good immediately. It'S quite a commitment, isn't it yeah? So bass is gon na grow out with a week, but that's when, if you can't get into your stylist and see me, then you're gon na need to cut it yourself. So the initial thing is, you need to decide what hair is fringe and what's not using a section of your hair from fringe to the rest of the haircut. If you don't know, sectioning Clips just push it behind the ear. You should never cut a fringe in reception. Do this is just trimming this cutting in a fringe? It'S like quite a technical. It is she quite technical. It seems quite easy and got heads and stuff yeah. I would never recommend anyone trying this if you're not really good, if sort of thing you're, not very scissors and a lot of kind of salons, you can kind of pop in to get a pretty much cut and yeah everybody's booked. Most big places these days that you're going be cut for nothing fringed up for nothing, no consultation mercy here. All you have to be careful of is getting someone different about the fringe, because every hair, just a different moon, do things very differently, so try and get someone that you just think. What'S the first kind of step first step is I'm drawing a section of little section where section about half a meter wide use our fingers to create very little tension, see it's not moving terribly you're, not pulling that hard. Very deadly it doesn't actually spring up. Anyway. Is that what you do right? No, a natural spring and with roost particular fridge, it's slightly more broken up, but we're walking around so I'm going to cut it, which is what could point cutting so instead of cutting a blunt. This way we're going to cut into the hair this way this is more forgiving when you're doing at home. This is not showing you this tendon careful. It'S cut on the finger, I'm going to use sharp scissors hair distances. How much are they expensive? 15 quid? It'S? Where they're not worth the pain, they're, not great, but they're bad? What about in America does when really do a hairdressing scissors? Okay, my kids! Wouldn'T it yeah Ricky's! You can buy some quite cheap once with about $ 27 okay. So next, taking a bit of my guide, is that first piece of hair that I've cut moving over towards the left hand, side right hand side. So using the guide we cut previously we're going to use our fingers it's just as a line where the fringe is going to go, I'm going to point cut along there. It'S just cutting up into the hair to that line is not really sure, don't just to be doing it yourself, I'm quite glad that I'm not if you're not I mean yeah, I don't you think what people could do is show you, this videos who they you Know to whomever they live with, like flatmate or boyfriend or whatever, and get them to practice to go exactly so again. My hands are staying pretty much on roof space here, just to keep that natural fall and then I'm again, I'm not going in directly straight because I'm not going to cut much hair off. I'M going 45-degree angle and just kind of a bit hair off just chipping away at the length. So it's not a straight line. We don't want that heaviness. Not in this. We wanted to keep soft, you see we get in there.what. Even I do myself. As I start getting a bit of the length away, obviously we've taken just about an inch off this side, it's still quite novel, so we can always go back in and got more and I suppose I do it once it may be. I think just you know, even if you go away and cut it the next day, you know still a bit long. It'S the worst thing. That'S happened, shoot their short fringe. If you mess with the proportions of your face, is quite a lot. Doesn'T it you can do there are no balls, your fringes play. You know, everything's, very visual, just repeating white it on the other side place of it, I'm gon na hair down a little bit of tension and just point cut into the legs. As you come on the curve here, you still want to keep that straight line. See where the scissors are. The line will follow right round. You follow the line round, get your fingers in line of everything and just cut softly point cut my hands till they go through face. That'S what I don't smoke. So this stage we still can't see. That'S what I want to do is just go through from the center again here's a different technique, but you can see I'm lifting all the length up here, I'm taking it all in my fingers and giving myself a centimeter there to play with one who do is I'M gon na cut into that centimeter. So now you can move it away from the face once you've got that general or once once you've got the shape. Well, it's the shapes there. We can then break up the line. This detailing is what's quite difficult because everything I put in here lift it up this way you see in a different angle, let's brush down, and you won't lose some weight at this stage. So people could just could just do the first stage to the length that they kind of require, couldn't make yeah and then stop if they were nervous about it's important to move around the fringe, as well as to make sure it's working. I even take the head down just check where we're at everything I didn't realize, actually how much of a commitment it be, because, literally it's even within a couple of days, you start feeling the fringe growing. You know that you don't notice on the rest of your hair, riveting piece of information is there. I just need to assess everything, make sure everything works that shimmering color. The other thing I was doing because in this, in my studio here we've got lots of natural. I am I've got the mirrors tip announcer, lighten everything, make sure when you cut it, you keep the light, even try and get some of the lights. Even maybe in front of you not behind you light. It'S really important when you do it something as delicate as a kind of fringe. It has to be visually work. Gender status, it's everyone's face, is different, anyone's eyes or nose. Some people seek the very kind of clean straight lines, but I think it's not great forgiving. Is it no? Your age, it's gon na be fun. Editing is how is that to look at people's bodies equals outfits together, how things all work together? I always like to take off my clients perfect. Thank You. Kenna, the new look for 2011 thanks mom, the news for 2011 2011 thanks Kara

Liz Haley: Brilliant! You're the one who inspired me to take the plunge and get my bangs again :] What products do you use to hold your fringe in place? Mine tends to piece together in an unflattering way that makes my hair look dirty (even if it's not!) xx

agepe7: Thank you for this! It was really helpful. I've given myself bangs (fringe) on a whim before, and I definitely could have used good advice (I could have done without the booze too, probably :P). I really love Kenna, he seems pretty fantastic, not to mention a great hairstylist. Thanks for sharing!

Darcie: This video was very helpful! I followed the sectioning off technique while cutting my own bangs and they look GREAT! Whew! Thank you so much for posting this!

Fernanda Herrmann Ortiz: Thank u so much!! I wanted so bad a fringe like yours but had NO IDEA how to do it myself and it turned out amazing!! I'm totally in love with my hair again thanks to you guys!! :)

winterlover89: this was really helpful, i trim my own fringe and haven't had any major disasters yet so hopefully his tips will help keep it that way (wish i had a hair stylist who was that much fun!). also loved your song!

Pamela: Finally I found a video how to cut bangs properly, at least the way I like it. It's hard to find a hairstylist that cuts bangs the way this man does. I've gone to high end to low end and have found a few hairstylist that cut bangs this way. This video is very helpful when teaching one to cut their own bangs.

rraskolnik: Thank you so so much for sharing. I almost always watch this before I cut my fringe! x

Beth Louise: this is amazing, definitely going to try this later :D thank you x

Christine Watts: By FAR the best tutorial on how to cut bangs!! It worked GREAT!! Thanks!!

Marina Ivanova: Thanks to this video, I successfully trimmed my fringe! Thank you :)

jotim101: I love this method!  This is my second time using this. And it is easy to cut in your fringe the first time if you learn how to section it off properly before you start.

pamelahl1: love the scissor flair! great tutorial! the close up shots and explanations were very helpful to me! . the vanity in the background is such a pretty piece of furniture~antique? SUPER! thank you!

Manda: Thanks for this video! My stylist charges me 25 every time I come in for a trim on my fringe bangs, which is every 2 weeks! Not anymore, not after seeing this video. I can do this myself from now on :)

Wendy: I tried his technique and I love it!!!! I'm not afraid to pick up a pair of scissors and do some snipping lol. Your hair looks fabulous!

Kelly Norman: The Hairdresser is a genius with the way he handles those scissors! I have to agree that cutting a fringe does take some skill as I found out when the only time I have cut my fringe ended in a total disaster that couldn't grow out quick enough, so I definitely need a hairdresser to do my hair. Though it is a pain as my fringe also seems to grow out within the space of a day.

Mac: I really appriciate showing up close detailed how to cut the bangs, only one i found and love how they turned out. You are very stunning. thank you for sharing.

Jasmine Bolt: I cut myself a fringe without having one to start off with and it was defiantly hard but if you have the right technique it turns out well

Crystal Brown MUA: Kenna is awesome! If I ever make it to the UK I will be in his chair. And your hair looks beautiful, they always do an amazing colour on you. Thanks for the video! :)

Stephanie Wilson: my fringe and I have had a love/hate relationship since my mum took me for my first haircut when I was a kid... almost 20 years later I still keep going back. It's sort of like an addiction... an expensive high maintenance one. Hahaha!

Mi m: gorgeous. i have that really straight hair, like you and now considering bangs- because of this vid

Barbara Mitchell: Ruth, can you suggest the best way to grow out fringe? I always end up cutting it because It just looks so bad when I pin it back.

Terrestrial Prism: I always have terrible luck with my bangs. Every time I've gone to the hairdresser and have asked for a fringe it turns out terrible. I've resorted to cutting it myself and I'm still not satisfied. I need this fellow in my life to it for me.
