What'S good everybody, it's your main girls, mel and amanda, and today we're going to show you how to properly towel dry your curly hair. Now you might be saying: wait a second you're not supposed to towel dry curly hair! Oh it's great! Can you continue and we used to believe that, however, there was a time and a place and a proper way, and today we're gon na do tickle dress. I found this cute little tickling ass. If i'm yelling at you it's out of love without further ado. Let'S get to it now before we get styling, you might be wondering what are these benefits to towel drying and well to name a few we're gon na get quicker, styling results, more volume, softer bouncier, curls and potentially less damaging from heat and mechanical damage. That'S right! That'S only if you're using the wrong towel. That is absolutely correct. The towels that you only ever see us use on this channel are these ones from the perfect haircare, not these ones. Specifically, these ones are new. These are brand new they're, our newest limited edition. 2022 collaboration, where we personally designed these very retro very swirly patterns - and we are so excited that we get to present these to you while we continue to go through the dues, these are limited edition. So if you do want to pick one up, you can check out the description box, there's going to be a link where you can shop them there and the reason why you want it is because they're super silky going back to the mechanical damage. These are not going to be abrasive on your hair they're not going to pull on your hair they're, not going to cause split ends or a lot of frizz. So the first don't is not to use any ordinary freaking towel that is looped and duped and teary and scary. These have not touched my head in years and it's definitely made a really big difference on the health of my hair. Now the next thing you don't want to do, especially if you have curly hair, is towel dry. It too much or possibly at all before you style, we're going to start styling our hair before it begins to dry. While it is nice and wet, i'm going to put this back over my shoulders, because i hate how wet hair feels on my skin i'm going to scream now. This may not make a lot of sense, especially when we are talking about towel drying. I think we all just register back to you know you get out of the shower. You put your hair in a towel. I personally skip that step. I usually just throw my hair into a clip and then i begin styling right away now, because we're talking my hair has actually been drying. So, that's why i'm keeping this spray bottle handy and we're just gon na wet down our hair. Adding more water to our hair. Now is not gon na add on extra time later, when it comes to drying, but it will decrease the amount of frizz in our hair. That'S why keep your hair wet and style before you go in with your towel? So after making sure our hair is nice and wet we're going to go in with our first styling product, which is just going to be a nice cream, a leave-in, something protective for our hair. This is the one that we're using today. So i actually really like this leave-in from verve it's very hydrating, it's a lot of slip, and it also has heat protection in it, not that we'll really be needing today, yeah, because another benefit to child drying hair, as we mentioned, is that it actually cuts down. My drying time significantly, because i do prefer to diffuse my hair, especially with these towels. These towels can absorb like 70 to 80 percent of the moisture in your hair. Now the next big question that we get is, do you apply a gel before or after towel drying your curly hair? You do it after you apply a gel. I personally like to do that. Anyways because i find it gets more hold to the hair and it makes it less prone to frizz. So in other words, don't towel dry, your hair without a holding product. In now, this isn't a do or don't, but a personal preference of mine is you'll notice that we're styling with our towels around our shoulders. Now this not only helps prevent for the most part, getting your shirt wet. This is just a different case because we're filming here and it's getting messy, but i honestly feel like it does help prevent frizz, especially around the nape area, because of these towels, specifically they're, really really soft and silky, so the hair kind of just glides on it. So while you're styling you're actually preventing any frizz from happening around the nape of your neck, if that's something that happens to you a lot, then styling this way adds that extra layer of protection, in my personal experience, so now that our hair is wet product has Been applied and we have defined the curls with our brush styling techniques that we prefer to do and set it in place with a gel. We can finally get into the plug. Now, there's two different types of plops. You may have heard of a regular plop and a micro plot. Micro plopping is very simply just scrunching, your hair with your microfiber towel. Now i do want to add a joke here. You don't want to squish and squeeze too much moisture and product out of your hair, especially if you start to notice. If it gets a little bit frizzy the hair will get frizzy if there's not enough moisture. So it's a very fine line. Just don't be abrasive. Don'T scrub or do anything too crazy, just a very gentle scoop! This technique is going to be great if you feel like you've accidentally applied a little too much product, because it's going to help to remove any excess water and product, and maybe it's a great way to towel dry. When i am short on time, i don't have enough time to flip which we're going to show you how to do next and we're just using these smaller versions of our towels. These actually come in a pack of two when you purchase the towel itself. It'S a great little two for one and it's matching and it's fabulous. Some stylers will apply better on damp hair than soaking wet hair. And so, if you do this with your microfiber towel gently scrunching or as some people call it. Micro plopping after your cream will help you get more hold out of your gel. If you notice that your hair just falls really lit it's a great time to do this before applying your gels and then you can go in with the big flop. Yeah we're going to show you how to do that right now. You want to lay your microfiber towel on a flat surface and before placing your curls into the plop, i like to shake out my roots, just to make sure that all my hair is falling forward and then gently place my curls in the towel. You can see. I'M also directing my curls with my hand, to make sure that they stay in one place. I will then pull the towel over my head and place it at the nape of the neck grabbing onto the sides and then twisting them into place i'll. Take the excess towel, and what's really nice about this towel in particular, is that it works for longer hair types. I'Ve tried microfiber towels in the past that do not work for long hair and another great feature is the elastic here which you can use to secure. The towel in place to make sure it doesn't fall off. Plopping is scrunching your curls into the towel, so they are situated in a very scrunched up and very bouncy shape to allow them to have even more volume and, of course, dry quicker. Basically, just think of it as the curly hair version of tile drying hair. Now, if you accidentally miss a piece just leave it, if you try to shove it in then it's just gon na get a little bit wonky and frizzy. And honestly it's okay. If you leave that one piece to air dry now, of course, you're probably wondering how long do you plop for don't plop for too long everyone's gon na be different and the finer, your hair, the less you need to plop your hair can dry very quickly. So leave it in for five to ten minutes max. If your hair holds on to a lot of water, i would leave it on to up to 20 to maybe 30 minutes max. Something you can do when you are plopping. Is your makeup? I personally love to do this, while i'm flopping and then i'll either air dry, but most of the time i'm diffusing my hair and it really cuts down that diffusing time, sometimes up to like half the time. I'Ve timed it before and i'll play that video here for you, so you can see it. It really did cut my drying time in half, and so, whenever i'm in a rush, this is exactly what i do and, besides the benefit of being able to multitask. It also just keeps that hair out of your face: yeah, okay, while you're riding it ready and just drives you crazy yeah. However, there's only so much moisture that the towel can absorb and leaving it in for a lot longer than said times. It'S just going to keep the area really moist. When really you could let it be air drying to finish up your styling and on that note don't plop overnight. I don't want to see it. Leaving your plop in for too long can also cause scalp issues. It can leave you with an itchy scalp, a lot of buildup. It'S just not a good idea to keep your scalp warm and moist for a long period of time, but also, let's say you accidentally place it on a little bit wonky. If your curls dry too deep in that you know that funky state well, then that's how they're gon na stay. So i feel like now we're ready to remove the plop. You can see our curls still look really nice and defined if you are noticing frizz. After doing this, you may have left your towel on for a little too long, but there is something that you can do now is a great time to add a little bit of a foam or mousse to help add extra hold to your curls. So we're just going to take a couple pumps - and this is the verb. Curl foaming gel x means by now we're going to use it to just really focus on the ends and if there are any of those frizzy pieces, maybe doing a little bit of smoothing and spot treating, which is pretty much what we will always do. Uh, when we're styling, plopping or not now is the best time to take care of any frizzy bits before they fully dry, while it's still damp, but it does feel pretty dry, it feels pretty dry. Another question that i see a lot is how to take care of your roots. If you have flat roots plopping, your hair in your microfiber towel can really help add volume because it's helping the hair to defy gravity after removing so much moisture. But if you go about the rest of your day and continue to air dry, you are still putting weight on your roots, so the other thing that you can do is just pop in some root clips to help you take care of any flattened areas. A lot of product can trickle down onto your roots, which can weigh them down. So that's when it's a great time to grab your towel and very gently just almost scrunch just the root area, and this is again something that i wouldn't do with just any towel. A terry cloth, normal towel is looped and it can cause a lot of snags in the hair and a lot of frizz and also breakage, but these towels are truly so silky that you can do this and not cause frizz or damage. Now, if you have done this correctly, you should be looking a little something like this notice, how we don't really have any frizz, and we do have a really nice cast from the gel that we used, which means we didn't absorb too much product. If you have frizz, then you've probably gone a little bit too far, but once again that's nothing that a little gel can't fix, or even a little anti-frizz serum we're gon na finish this hair routine. We always finish our hair routines with an oil or serum this one's from verb. It'S one of our favorites one of the best of the best lightweight, even for my fine curlys, and while we our hair, let us recap: shall we for our curlies in the back that we're not listening, skip the towel drying right out of the shower apply your Prep and style products on your wet hair, try micro popping to remove excess product and water. Then you can apply your gel or mousse or foam for hold and plop your hair, but not for too long up to 30 minutes is a good time before you can. Let your hair down and if you notice any frizz, maybe reapply that gel or foam or mousse to further scrunch into your hair, then air dryer diffuse for half the time less than half the time yeah. It took me about 15 minutes to fully diffuse my hair and get the results that we have, and it normally takes me anywhere from 30 to 40 minutes and in the end the finished results should be bouncy, smooth, lightweight, frizz, free and damage free, high feed. Now, hopefully, that's answered a lot of your questions about plopping and has encouraged you to maybe try plopping your hair and if a traditional plop at the top of your head is not for you there's so many different ways that you can use this microfiber towel. I also love to use it before doing a hair treatment if it's required to use on bad hair. I love using it behind the chair as well: they're, truly the best, the smoothest, the silkiest and also the grooviest, and that's why we decided to put our names on this product and work with the brand. We truly really appreciate working with the team at the perfect hair care. They are a family owned, small business and we are so appreciative that they work with us on this and we're so proud of how the prints came out. So again, if you want to get them, they do come in a pack where you get the large microfiber towel, as well as the small micro popping towel, but don't forget that these are extremely limited, so don't walk run. The links for these will be in the description box below and if you have any more questions about plopping that we didn't hit in this video make sure to comment below. We do our best to answer as many comments as we can. We'Ll also include some extra videos and tutorials where we're using our towels in the description box, so you can further check those out. Thank you so much for watching this video. We hope you enjoyed it and found it helpful until next time. This has been your main girls, mel and amanda, and we're out peace. Do you have a bald spot? Ari Jay: I’m patiently waiting for my towels to get in! So excited to use them. I was sad to miss out on last years prints so I was on it this year

ybell1294: How timely, I just retried plopping again after getting the Perfect Haircare towel. Huge difference! I do an improvised method that doesn't require a flat surface so I can plop still in the shower - helps a lot to prevent body acne from dripping conditioner.

Emily: Already ordered mine! love them. They’re also sensitive skin friendly. I LOVE towel drying with these they’re perfect. Pun totally unintended. I also feel pretty while plopping in them. These are the best! Plus your color schemes are so fun.

Kara Talks about Stuff: Watching this while doing my 4th "plop" of the afternoon. (This is how I avoid using a blow dryer 'cuz I hate it.) I apply lots of product to soaking wet hair. "Wet plop" by just letting the product soak in under a shower cap. "Regular" plop once. Take it out and micro-plop/scrunch with a dry towel. Then, I put it back up in another "regular" plop with another dry towel. Is it gonna work for everyone or solve all my hair woes? No. But it helps it dry faster without a blow dryer and actually still looks pretty great.

JoAnne Hutt: So interesting! I have the black towel from the perfect hair care and i always make sure i pack it for trips and bring to the salon! I didnt know until todays video not to plop in it until ive added moisture products and some gel first. I will try this method next wash day! Thank you lovely ladies

Laura Reiner: So happy I got my towels ordered! So pretty! Couldn’t decide so I got both! ‍♀️

Anya T: To stop frizz in my car, I put a silk hair bonnet on my headrest ! Love it ! Less frizz !

Brenda Keaton: I went ahead and ordered Amanda’s towel. I love pink! I can’t wait to get it. Thanks for all you do to help us understand our hair!

blktauna: I use linen towels I made to dry my hair. The fabric is a waffle weave and absorbs quick. I also love my microfibers. :)

Zooey Dayz: Thank you so much for this video!! It's so useful, especially since I always have a limited amount of time to dry my hair before school I'll make sure to follow your tips in my routine! Happy texture Tuesday!

Tanairi Mastarreno: You guys look so beautiful , I usually dry my hair before getting out of the shower but I hate it, I will now just put my hair on a hair clip and follow these steps! Thank you guys for again teaching me something new! Also congratulations on all the accomplishments you guys are achieving!

Pollys Shore: I’ve ordered my towels! I’ve been using them for 3-4 years now, and love them. I was late to the party last year. I wanted to get both but could only get Mels so I made sure I got the bundle this time.

Deanna: Happy Texture Tuesday!!! So excited for this!! I just ordered both towels can't wait for them to come so I could try plopping!! I never had a good experience with it though. Much love and happiness!! Xoxo

Swaksha Rachuri: Just ordered mine! This will be my first microfiber towel set, so excited to try it out!

Adrianna the Kitteh: Happy Texture Tuesday! These towels are beautiful, I can't wait to receive my seesters bundle

Vases & cloths: Ilysm Mel! Thank you for being you and helping me with my hair in the process

Minnie Valentine: Would you two be interested in doing something like monthly "Favorites and Fails/Raves and Rejects" type videos? I'm not sure how many products you try out, but I enjoy these kinds of product roundup videos in the makeup realm. Even if it's not as frequently as monthly, I think it could be fun to see you both sitting and chatting about your experiences with products, even if it's just casual and quick reviews.

Katherine Tejada: I love these towels and I got one Amanda designed last year, so this year I went ahead with Mell

Sara Smith: I love my perfect haircare towel. Now I need a Manes by Mel one!! So happy you showed the scrunching towels!! My hair hold tons of water, and the area touching my hair gets soaking, but there is still quite a bit of water in my hair. What would you suggest to help?

lunique 622: Happy texture Tuesday! <3 I ordered my perfect hair care towels and i can't wait to receive them!! Thanks so much for today's video :)

teresita: Thank you seesters, these are great tips! I couldn’t decide between patterns, so I got both! Excited to try it out!! Just waiting for that Verb foam to drop next

John Vogt: My curls are a lotttttttt looser than yours so I’m not sure how these towels are going to work out (I just started wearing my hair curly this year) but I think I’m going to get a set. Now to decide on what design to order This might be a weird question but do you wash the towels after every use or are they something that can be multiple times. I imagine they dry completely bc of the material?

Yoshi: ordered mine a few days ago! can't wait to try it out! dry time kills my back! so this will be amazing!

Jenn Leah: I'm legit DYING for your verb foam gel to come out for us common folk! I use a foam & gel almost every wash day & this sounds SO me! And no coconut oil! My hair won't tolerate it in leave in products, so glad to see it wasn't in there!

Raas AlHayya: Thank you for breaking down the technique into small steps - I think this will help me a lot.

Jacy Henk: I love you, Mell. I have learned soooo much from your vids. I wish I could come to NY so you could cut my hair. I have a good stylist, but she is not a curly professional. I found you indirectly through Angela at the Fit Curls. I have had curly hair my entire life (60 years) and have been trying to straighten it for years. Since the first of May this year, I have been on this journey. I am so blessed with 3a well defined curls that I could literally scrunch and go if I had to. I am also in love with the Denman brush. I know my mother had one when I was growing up, but of course we never knew what to do with it. Thank you, thank you, thank you for all these professional advice videos. YOUTUBE! PAY HER!!! Please keep making these vids.

Kris Shue: I'm going to try plopping on my next wash day. Thanks for explaining it so clearly. Your towels are so cute!

PlatinumCyGirl: I love how those towels cut time as I have thick hair, would like one. Mell is there a colored curly hair routine? I need one because I love having crazy colors on my hair. Problem is I have a scalp condition too. I think seborrheic dermatitis, so yeah I have used the Neutrogena tgel shampoo on my scalp. Ps. I have used the n.0 and no.3 olaplex treatment and I'm a believer; dude I noticed a difference. Like I heard you use it and follow your steps l, but to actually see it help my hair is amazing

Haley: Ordered the Seesters bundle last week!! Thank you for this video. Today is wash day so taking notes!!

1 23: I ordered the seester set when they launched. My curls are patiently waiting. Very excited!

Melissa Moretti: First of all, you guys are awesome and these videos are invaluable when it comes to curly hair guidance! I just need a quick clarification...so these towels are the silk kind like the kind of material you want to sleep on? Versus a cotton towel? I got a special plopping towel that is the cotton kind (like using the old cotton tshirt method). Do I need the silk kind instead to get the right plopping results??

Greyssy Perez-Martinez: Hi guys. I love you guys always given us great advice in your video. Its nice that you put some bloopers at the end. Your bottle need a good wash. Haha so funny. I love the tangle teezer brush to detangle and style I have mine for 3 years and ordered a new one because I always clean outside but just realise that it can be open to clean it. OMG !!! So disgusting full of mold. You could do a tutorial how to clean your brush I think it can be helpfull to know how. Thank you again.

Lynzi Collins: Happy texture Tuesday!!! Yay I love seester videos so much ❤️❤️ I ordered both towels ❤️❤️

Nikki Turner: Purchased towels! I'm from UK but with a bit of searching I was able to find them. I've only got the basic plain black one at the moment so I'm looking forward to having some bright colours in my life. Awesome

Emma Mendez: Thanks for the plopping tips. I never get it right. This helped soooo much!!!

Kati Benzer: I really appreciate this video. Seeing how Amanda plops her long hair is very helpful.

Maureen Toomey: Love love LOVE to see you both in today's video!! Thanks again, for another great hit!!

Erika: Great tips. One question though would plopping work for type 4 hair, given how much shrinkage we get? Micro plopping works fine by the way. Thank you.

Stargazer87: Just ordered mine. Can't wait till it comes in and I try it ❤️

Wendy Lees: Which gel did you use when you first applied gel? The same as after plopping? Also, which brush? Tangle Teaser?

Kendall Butcher: I just wanted to say both of you are beautiful and I am so grateful that you came out with these towels because it is so hard to find a good towel for curly hair!

Alexis Sprouse: Yes!! Can’t wait to get mine! ❤️

Becca D.: Hey Mel and Amanda! This video was a lifesaver! I used to plop overnight… guess I won’t be doing that anymore haha. I do have a question about flat roots, though. I have super long curly hair down to my waist, but my hair won’t curl above my neck. Meaning, I have straight hair almost down to my shoulders. Even when I had shorter hair, it never really curled high up. Is that just my hair type, or am I doing something wrong? Thank you so much for all of your videos!

Vanessa Hernandez: So glad I'm not the only one who hates my wet hair touching me. I feel like crawling out of my skin on the verge of a mental breakdown because I just came in from swimming and my hair is touching me. Ahhh!

Mini Winston: Im using $4 microfiber hair towel from dollarama, I want the perfect haircare towel but it is sooo pricy. Hopefully my dollarama one's are not messing up my waves too much!

Geri Pivowar: Hi mel and amanda, would you do a review on cake hair products, they come from your country I love the cake hair products excellent. You guys are so funny ‍♀️ thank you, love Tuesday's ❤️

Melissa Verboom: Good tips! Is there a difference for wavy hair?

Bekah Robertson: So thankful for this video!! Do you have an off brand (more affordable) towel you recommend?

Kendall Butcher: What is a good clarifying shampoo? And how often should I use it if I plop. I heard you mention that plopping can mention buildup.

luckyDancer100: Anyone else just do the pat and squeeze method? I can’t manage the towel hat thing. It slips and slide too much.

Nura Martinez: Did I miss the details for the new verb foam? I don’t see any info about it and I already want to get my hands on it . PS love every video!

Shari Perlman: I love the new towels! Perfect Hair towels are the best! I'm off to do some shopping!

Rachel Podhorcer: I've been plopping before styling - whoops! Next wash day I'm gonna style first.

M Rence: You BOTH crack me up! Especially about the Water and it’s smell!!! Thank You, for always getting me to Laugh! ❤️❣️ To you 2!

Lisa Tulak: Happy Texture Tuesday! So glad to see you and your seester!

Adriana Resendez: I have a feeling your towels will sell out yet again so I made sure to buy them :) Thank you so much for your help, friends!

Georgia Sam: Ordered 2 thank you both!

Derrick Jennifer Watkins: These bloopers are the best! I feel the seester vibes

Kendall Butcher: Do you have any tips for volume? I have very flat roots and long hair. And my hair is all the same length

Tala Aa: Can u guys do like an updated product collection? Cuz I’ve noticed u use aveda and ag products a lot, can give us some recs? Or even better, a video abt best leave in conditioners! I’d really like to hear your input on this!

Kendall Butcher: What kind of diffuser is universal, best for a low budget, and good for very long hair?

The coconuts: Would it be possible to do a drugstore shampoo and conditioner vs affordable high end products. I’ve been using ogx for about 4 years and had to stop because my hair is falling more than usual and I just found out the cause eye problems … which I’ve also been having issues for the past 3 years just not sure if OGX is to blame.

Pollys Shore: I love Ghost prep. It’s probably one of my most used leave ins.

s_Toobii: I dont use a flat surface for plopping now. I never did. I just bend in the shower, plop and move out.

TNG: It’s always the bloopers for me

Ranad ~AR~: Ur towels are so aesthetic! Love it

Jenna Chanthavisay: Aaaannndd… just bought 2 Seester bundles! That ending is hilarious!

Samantha Palmer: Just wondering the Combs that you guys are using where did you get them from?

One brain cell left: Whenever I dry my hair in a towel, there's away one section of my hair that remains damp. It didn't get the memo that it was supposed to dry xD

kiska: Oh man, I keep waitin an waitin for that Verb foam to get released. Do they have a release date yet?

Kathy Sahori: OMGOSH loving your new printssssssss!!!!! Ahhhhhh need to go buy them right away

Kendall Butcher: Is it bad to plop every wash day?

Carolin Hoffmann: I would really like to buy these towels you designed, but the shipping is the same price as the towels.. Sad.

NIkki Wallace: Can’t wait to try the new verb product collab!

Samantha Lynch: Can you link the clips you used for your roots?

Junior Chaves o Picasso de Yahushua: 4:26 You ladies are spectacularly beautiful in every aspects ♥️♥️

Lola Sky: Thank u for leaving the last bloops in! I'm dyin!!! Telling your sister, I fucking knew it!! I felt that shiiiit hahahaha

Zina Van Landingham: OMG! Where were you cuties when I was younger?!?! Loved this video! Blessings & Hugs!

Jessica Geraedts: What mousse were you using Amanda

Ms. Epstein: Love ya'll but microfiber is really bad for the environment and pollutes the water supply.

Emily Cee: Would this work w/a cotton t-shirt?

InhabitRabbit: i didn’t know plopping existed thank you so much omg where can i buy those towels

Bree White: I LOVE you Seesters!!!

Tala Aa: MELL I WAS WAITING FOR U I AM SO EXCITED YOUR LOYAL FAN- ASA

Meenakshi: I can't love you more

Bugle-Clowncar: You Gals are Hilarious!
