Hey everybody welcome back to toughies when closet at wake studio, one. Today I'm going to go through the top 10 things. You should never do to your synthetic wigs coming up, so these things are really great information for the brand-new wig wear, but if you're a seasoned, wig wear it just really serves as a reminder that we can really do some serious damage to a synthetic wig. By being a little bit careless, so these 10 things are in no particular order, but I'm going to start with hair dryer or some kind of dry heat like a curling iron or hairdryer on a non heat, friendly, synthetic style that spells trouble. It dries it out. It breaks down the fiber, it's not going to last as long and it's likely to frizz up the first time that you try it now. Some of you season, wig wearers out. There can successfully use heat to style and control a synthetics, a non heat friendly synthetic style if you're doing that, just to add some lift or make it straighter or whatever the case may be. I recommend that you use more of a moist heat with steam, rather than the dry heat, and then just remember also that if you are heat styling, a he friendly, wig always try to use a protectant spray like a thermo heat spray by genre know, I think It is if you, if you add some of that to the fiber before you actually heat style it with any kind of appliance, whether it be a curling iron, flat iron or a hair dryer. It will help to protect those fibers. So another thing you really don't want to do to a synthetic wig is use regular, shampoo, mint for natural human hair. The shampoos typically contains some sort of sulfates and more harsh types of ingredients that can really erode the integrity of a synthetic fiber very quickly. So you want to stay away from using shampoo and conditioners mint for your natural human hair and used a product that is approved for a synthetic wig styles. So, while we're on the subject of washing a wig, another thing you don't want, you don't want to do to a synthetic wig style is to scrub it too heavily or aggressively or agitate it. When it's in the wash basin too aggressively, you can really cause a lot of tangles and knots. If you are scrubbing aggressively you can, it can also damage the fibers. You certainly don't want to do that and avoid wringing it dry. What you want to do is roll it up in a dry towel. I take a towel. I fold it in half, I put the wig in and then just sort of roll it up and then place my knee or my kneed it with my hands. Until all the water kind of seeps up into that towel, this helps it from dripping, and then I let it dry the rest of the way by hanging it upside down in the shower after you've washed and temped your wig dry, one of the other things you Do not want to do to a synthetic wig style is to comb or brush it, while it's still damp or wet. It will stretch the synthetic fiber to the point where it cannot come back to its original style, you'll, really warp the style and perhaps damage or break off the fibers. I just remember only use an approved shampoo and conditioner for synthetic wigs, don't agitate the wig and don't scrub it too aggressively, while you're washing it and then tamp it dry with a towel and then let it dry the rest of the way either upside down or On a wig stand and then be careful not to comb or brush the style until it's completely dry. Another thing you don't want to do to your synthetic style is store them for long periods of time on a Styrofoam head. I am so guilty of this. My intention is to rotate my wigs quite often so that they're not on the styrofoam head for long periods of time, but sometimes they are so what I do to avoid any issues with it is to not stretch it completely over the head. So what happens here is you run the risk of permanently stretching out the wig cap and then, when you go to where it might be a little bit too loose, you might not be able to get the correct adjustment so avoid storing your synthetic wing styles on A Styrofoam head for a long period of time, if you do make sure you're just resting it on the head and not stretching it over the head. So another thing you don't want to do to your synthetic wig style is put it away in the box dirty sometimes if you use product or if the wig is really dirty, when you set it inside of the box, when you get it out the next time It might be stiff and dry and it might have taken on the shape of the box. So that's something you want to avoid if possible. So the other thing with storing your wigs is that only store them in a climate-controlled area if it's too hot or too cold or too humid or too dry. This can affect the wig style laying within the box. It could take on the shape of the box. Very easily in situations like heat or can really dry out if the climate is very cool and dry when with them in either chlorine or saltwater. So I know a lot of you do swim with wigs and that's perfectly fine. You might want to set aside and designate a wig that you're only using for the beach for the salt, water or the chlorine. So water and chlorine can really do a number on the fibers of your synthetic style. It will erode the fiber it'll, make it dry and brittle and it'll fray, and it won't last quite as long in the Sun for long periods of time, in your synthetic wig style without some sort of protection wearing a hat or taking an umbrella. A scarf or something to protect the wig from the harsh Sun, the Sun can really do a number on the wig, it can heat it up and it can warp the style, it can fade colors and it can really degrade the synthetic fiber number 9 of what Not to do to your synthetic wig styles is don't over brush over comb over style or over. Wash. Just remember that any kind of friction that you put on your wig style is really going to shorten the lifespan of that way. So be cautious of not to continuously brush or comb the style, if you don't have to just kind of use your fingers to fluff and put the hair back into place and then only wash it when it's absolutely necessary. As a new wig, where I felt like I needed to wash the wig and quite frequently for after every three four five times, I wore it that simply just wasn't the case, and now I can wear it for an extended period of time without washing it so Limit the washing brushing styling any kind of manipulation and friction that you're putting on your synthetic wig style. So number ten and the last thing on my list of things not to do to your synthetic wig. Styles is - and this is especially around the holidays when we're cooking a lot we're using the oven. Quite a bit is: don't get your synthetic wigs out too close to high heat, especially with an oven that dry heat when you open it up and that dry heat comes out, it can really warp singe frizz and damage your a synthetic wig style. I had somebody tell me once didn't a friend that she sneaks up on the oven if she has a wig on she'll, sneak up to the side and open it up. You know and kind of look in, but I recommend that you either not wear a wig or maybe a turban or something over the wig style, while you're doing some cooking the same thing with any kind of steam from a crock pot. As an example, if you are approaching a hot car crock-pot and you lift the lid and the steam comes up, sometimes that can work your style a little bit too. It can just change the integrity of those fibers so be careful while cooking and wearing your synthetic way. Styles. So that's my top 10 on things not to do to your synthetic wig styles. I hope this was helpful, have a wonderful day and remember, be bold, be new, be you at tacitly closeted ways to year. One see you next time.

luckystars2000: I would add 2 “never do this” items. 1. The first one, which I learned the hard way, is “never wash your wigs in hot or warm water.” Ruined the curl and stretched the cap. 2. The second, which I’ve never done, but which many wig sisters can’t seem to resist doing is “don’t cut bangs in your wig.”

Sasha Bonder: I am sooo guilty of #10!!! Every time I am cooking I completely forget~

Kathleen Beauchemin: Great video, thank you! I have a strange shaped head with not much of an occipital bone in the back so I have to use It stays all around the perimeter of my head. When I take it off the inside looks “yucky” even if I take a wash cloth with cold water and gently wipe the inside it seems as though the fibers on the outside tend to get stiff. So, consequently, I end up soaking them in Balsam or washing them,. Any suggestions? Have a Happy Easter
