Each and every product I feature is something I have used and loved and wanted to share with you. I choose 100% of the products I feature and do not ever recommend anything I haven't personally used myself. Links in my description may be affiliated and are a wonderful way to show your support, allowing me to continue spreading beauty and boldness. A big thank you to everyone who took time from their busy schedules to grace me with their presence and attention. All products shown are purchased by myself.

Hi welcome back this week and welcome to part two of the series how to style your hair after creating a silky smooth blowout. If you saw last week's tutorial, you saw the technique that I use to be able to get all of the frizz ease. All of the kinks out of the hair in a blowout without using a flat iron or any other type of a hot tool that could potentially damage your hair depending on the heat setting. If you missed that video, I will provide a little link for you to see that so you can catch up, see how to blow out your hair during the summer months to get it silky smooth, and then this part two is going to be. What do I do with this because - and I hear this from a lot of my straight haired silky, smooth, naturally haired friends, you lucky, ladies you, but you always say my hair is so smooth and so straight I can't do anything with it and so the rest Of us on this planet who are dying to have your hair are already spending a good 20 to 30 minutes in the bathroom trying to get it silky smooth but you're right. There are some things that you have to do in order to build in some lift and texture to take advantage of this, so that it doesn't fall totally flat which can happen. So this is now at the end of the blowout, and this is what I have. I'Ve got very, very smooth straight hair that I've worked a long time to be able to create - and I want to show you three different styles to take from this point. So let me just walk you through some of the tools that you'll need. First of all, velcro rollers, I'm always a fan. This is not to put curl in the hair, but it's to get lift at the root pick your favorite hairspray mine still is the kenra volume. 25 super hold it's a brushable hairspray, but it does hold the hair in place. Another product that you'll need is a root lifting product. I'M a huge fan of the orb a swept up. It'S a volumizer, it's just a little pump of a powder that creates a lot of volume at the crown and gon na use that shortly any type of a finishing spray to add some shine. This is by an Italian product, and I don't have my glasses on me, but I will list everything below in the description box. So if you click the down arrow on your phone, you'll see it or if you click the more button just underneath this video, it will expand the description and you'll see the products listed. You will need a public enemy number one, a flat iron, but make sure that you have a flat iron where you can actually dial in the temperature. Some flat irons will just take you all the way up to 450 and that's my biggest concern, because if you have processed hair or highlights those suckers will quickly burn off and then you're left with little Nubby's. And that's not pretty. So. I use a flat iron and I use it at about 300 degrees and I'll show you why, in just a second and of course, your blow dryer, which will help you with root, lift. So the first look that I'm going to take you to is a look that isn't too far off from what we have right now. But we all want a little bit of lift a little little volume in the crown, and so after you've blown out your hair. It tends to lie very, very flat on the head, which is what a lot of my straight haired gals complain about. So let me show you a quick way to be able to get a little bit of lift in the root line and especially around the area where you part your hair. So in this case I'm going to stick with more of a center part. A lot of you may do a side part which is fine. Some of you have bangs some of you don't so it totally depends on how you're wearing your hair, but in this case, since I've got bangs, I'm going to do a center part around my bang, and what I want to do is get some lift right in Here and right in here, and to do that, I need my velcro rollers. So I'm going to go along my part and right in here, and it's probably going to take a few of my bangs with it, which is fine, especially this back area. A bang surgeon generally cut on a triangle, and you want to get a little bit of lift up in here. So I'm going to just go like this. I always use my finger to section it off half an inch, maybe going back almost to the crown area and I'm going to anchor a Velcro roller, but here's the trick. I'M not gon na wrap the hair around the roller like this and keep going like that. I'M not doing that all I'm doing is. I am gon na pretend like I'm wrapping it, but I'm not I'm just going to anchor this roller right here at the root line and I'm gon na. Let the hair just hang over it and if you need to get a clip to secure it, but all we're doing here is we're getting lift here, but we're not putting any type of a bend or a roundness in this area. Same thing here so slightly into the bang, half an inch to an inch go back almost to the crown and again I'm gon na. Take this roller and I'm just going to go back and anchor the root, and that's it all right and now I want some lift in the crown as well. I'M gon na do the exact same technique go back here. I hope you can see right where these guys ended we're picking up, and this one is just gon na go straight back and I'm using a bigger roller here, same technique, just anchor it for the root, not wrapping the hair around okay, and now, I'm just going To take a little bit of hairspray and I'm going to kick it only in the root area that I've just lifted and I'm gon na warm it up with my hairdryer use this as an opportunity to smooth these guys out now, cool it. You may have to hold it down a little bit, so your ends don't go flying everywhere. We'Ve had so much rain here in Houston, the past couple of days. I kid you not, I think the moisture from the outside is somehow permeating and making its way in here and even with all the air conditioner, I'm still I'm getting crazy bends and waves. So if you have to keep hitting it with a hairdryer, just smooth it out, you do what you got to do. Okay, so everything now is is straight and smooth, and I've created some lifts up here in the crown. So I'm just going to take these guys out. I'M just gon na run my brush through. It see how it instantly kind of jumped up right there in the middle and now gently brush out the back and here's what I'm going to do with the or bay. So I lift up this area that we just lifted and instead of teasing the hair, this basically works as teasing. You just give one pump and you take it and you kind of shake it in the root, and it just keeps it up without having to tease it and it stays that way all day long, which is incredible if you've used this product before you know that It it may make your root area feel a little bit dirty and that's how it makes it hold and stay up. I do find that as I go through the day and especially as I sleep on it, that feeling goes away and I can wake up the next morning and still style my hair and I don't feel like it's gotten really dirty back here. But it's sort of a temporary sensation to create some really good root, lift at the crown okay. So now that there's volume you can hit it with spray and again remember to always spray from underneath run, my fingers through the back, make sure everything's looking good back there. It'S a gamble. I don't have a mirror to see the back of my head, so I'm gon na hope. Everything is hunky-dory, but here we go and you can probably see how it's got some height here at the crown. All right, but what's most important, is that I feel like I've gotten a little bit of a lift everywhere. I feel like it's a little bit more styled, but it still takes advantage of that smooth straight. Look that we've all worked so hard to create, and it just gives a little bit of volume, and this is a trick for my straight haired girls as well, to help you create, lift and volume in your hair and still take advantage of your nice sleek. Naturally, straight hair, you gals are so lucky because Bob haircuts work perfectly for you, but I know the biggest complaint is my hair falls flat on my face and I'd give anything for volume. These tricks really really help when it comes to volume, so put them into play, and let me know how it's working for you, but this is hairstyle number one. Okay, now, let's move on to number two - and this is about the easiest thing that we can do. One of my favorite looks for evening is a very smooth, sleek straight, but yet pulled back hairstyle. If you saw, I think it was Jennifer Lopez at the Met. Gala recently, her hair was perfection that day, I loved it blunt right above the shoulder. I love how they styled it. So this is something that you can now do if you're getting ready for evening and it's as easy as can be. So you take what you have and in this case it's good to have already gone through this process and gotten just a little bit of lift in the crown. But it's it's so easy. You decide where you like your hair parted best if it's Center or side or maybe it's just slicked back all the way you don't have to even wear apart. But in my case, if I just go like this and now tuck it behind my ears and I'm using the same brush that I used for the blowout and it's just making it nice and flat behind my behind my face. And then this gives you a great opportunity to pop in a really really cool earring, because your focal point is now here and on your jaw line your hair. Isn'T the focal point anymore. It'S just a very clean, smooth look and then you take your favorite chunky. Earrings - and I know you're gon na ask me where'd you get these and I wish I could tell you they were a gift and I absolutely adore them. I love the sparkle. I just think they're they're super cool, but anyway this is a very classic clean evening. Type of a look hair is pulled back. It'S simple! It'S sleek! You can even add so when I showed you this spray. This very just adds a little bit more shine, and so, if you want to kick in a little bit more shine on the hair, if it isn't shiny enough, you can do that and it really really makes it look very kind of lustrous and and healthy and Shiny and smooth and again I just - I think this is super for evening time again, you can do bangs, you can do no bangs depending on what type of hairstyle you have, but in this case since I've styled everything coming forward, I will leave it as is, But there you go what a quick and simple way to transition into evening time and really bring to focus some great earrings that you have and right now, big long, dangling, earring somebody even hit the collarbone are really really popular. So you want to make sure you get your hair off your face, but if you don't have hair, that's long enough to slicked back into a ponytail hello, this is the way that you achieve that. So this is basically your updo, your pull back, but with shorter hair and it's just a simple tuck back behind the ears to get you to glitz and glam like that. Okay, ladies and so my next look is now going to take us into a little bit more of a looser type of a style but not curly. It'S a bit more of a soft wave. It plays up the texture a little more in your hair, and this is where we're going to use the flat iron, but, like I said it's not going to be on a very high heat at all and having done what we've done already with the velcro roller Helps you in this area too, so if you start with that, that would be great. Now, you're gon na take your flat iron and we're going to section off. I have mine dialed in at 300 degrees, nothing more! I find that as low as I can go to create just a little bit of a bend in a wave is what I'm going to do if you can even get it under 300, more power to you, but my super straight haired. Ladies, I know you're gon na need a tiny bit more heat to help make this happen. So this works for me because I naturally have so much curl in my hair. So I'm going to take the front sections here and I'm going to do relatively thick sections because I'm not looking for tightness per se, I'm just looking for a little bit of texture. So I'm gon na grab it here and just twist it and pull it through and it's gon na give me just a very, very slight wave and that's what I'm going for and it's not going to kill the shine. That'S the other key with making sure the temperature is not too hot, because you don't want to ruin all this pretty shine that you've put into place and all today I go some of them forward, some of them back so mix it up this one's going to Come forward, you won't go back and around we go just big thick chunks around your head to create some looseness. You can go forward or back on these inner pieces. It'S up to you. Sometimes I'll go back and then sometimes kick them forward. Just depends how everything's falling go back with the front I'll go forward here. This creates a little bit more volume on the side. This is a chi flat iron, see how it's getting the job done, and it's not on an excessively high setting. So I feel really good about that and I'm extra careful these days because I've got some highlighted, my hair and I've had issues and we all have where heat styling just kills the highlight - and I want my hair to look healthy and shiny, always, okay, just keep Working your way around and then what I do when I get to the back, so I'm going to show you so in this area, I'm still going back like so, but down here see these guys get really really short. So I'm limited - and I just what I like to do - is kick them out, and just have them Bend up a little, and it instantly creates a little bit more length back here makes it seem like your hair is longer than it really is just by inverting. It and making these guys go out. Okay, also, what I recommend, if you're going to this look first hit your hair with hairspray before you use the flat iron since I've already sprayed it with the previous two looks I already had hairspray in here, but it really helps your hair to hold after you've. Curled it with a flat iron or curling iron after there's a little bit of hairspray, and it needs a little bit of texture too little gumminess to hold on to that way. So if you have to, if this is your your first look out the gate, then just make sure you do a gentle coat of hair spray around the whole thing. Okay, so now that this is in this is so simple: you just take your hands your hands or your styling tool, no brush and you're, just basically lifting and separating that's it you're, just getting a little separation in the wave, and you don't want to pull out Too too much I'm lifting up my crown and pulling back ever so slightly and you see how immediately it got texture to it and it got a lot bigger as well. So this is a quick way to also create the illusion that you have more hair than you really do and then, once you get everything where you like, it again live for underneath, because what you're doing is you're putting a little bit of hairspray on the root On the underside, which instantly gives you volume and then you can take it and pull it down as needed, but I love I just love a beachy wave for summer. I just think it's a fresh, fresh fun. Look and texture is really really big right now, wave and not being so perfect is in. So you know what, if you don't get it a hundred percent right you're in that's a good thing. That is a good thing, and then I just take it, and sometimes I go like that to get a little bit more lift at the root, and I am pretty much there. Okay and I don't want to overdo it cuz. I already have a good amount of hairspray in there, but let's see turn around and show you what's going on here, so you can see the different types of waves, they're all going in different directions and that's part of that loose bendy, look and your hand. Is your best friend here a brush will make it a little frizzy will bring it all together and it's not creating the look that you want. What you want is just a hand toss like you, like. You, woke up this way a little brigitte bardot right. That'S what we're all trying to achieve here, but there you go so these are three very very simple looks from your smooth and silky blowout to be able to take part in some great trends that are out there to not put frizz and kink back in your Hair - and you know I hope you can see that there's still a lot of shine, even though I used a hot tool, my hair looks really healthy and shiny, and now it's just wavy and has a bit more of a modern edge to it, comments, ideas and Suggestions down below, let me know some of the things that you like to do with your sleek, smooth hair, I'll, see how I can put that into play in upcoming videos, and also, let me know what it is that you would like to see next. wizzymel: I grew up in a very judgemental family. Wanting to take care of my hair was seen as superficial. Wanting to dress differently was seen as shallow. Well watching your videos and hearing you say "I want my hair to look healthy and shiny, always" makes me feel so good and understood.

I always learn something new :)

Janet Tekenos: Tried your blow drying technique last week and it worked really well. My hair is not quite as curly as yours but it’s wavy and I have a lot of frizz. I always take a picture of your style to my hairdresser when I go for a cut, so I thank you for these videos

nurshark05: My hair is SO thick and STRAIGHT. I fight to get lift and volume even with some layers and texturizing. It’s such strong hair. I hold my straightener at the scalp at a 90 degree angle and use volumizer and Kenra. It’s a battle! My L’ange Le Rev is a lifesaver. Thanks so much. You always look beautiful!

Janine McKenna: Great tutorial as always. I love your hair, especially as it’s getting a bit longer. Just beautiful. Always use my Velcro curlers.

Lynn Rose: Hi Dominique, I think you are amazing! You are a great role model in the way that you take care of yourself and your work ethic. You are very good at explaining what you are doing. I am a big fan. So many people tease their hair. It's nice to see someone that doesn't and still achieves volume. Beautiful styles. You have very healthy looking hair. I'm going to have to get the Oribe root lifter. What do you use to have your skin on arms and legs look so soft. Also, what do you use after being in the sun since our skin has different needs in the summer. Do you have a skin care regimen for those areas?

TheButterflyfoot: You do really lovely and amazing videos. Thank you, would love to see a Fourth of July get ready with me, if you have big plans!

Kim: Thank you! You make it look so easy.

B Goodliffe: I've really enjoyed your tutorials. My hair use to have lots of natural curls, just recently it has become flat, so I'm looking forward to trying some of your techniques to create volume. I have just purchased a "Conair Infiniti Pro Spin Air Rotating Styler, 2-inch AND 1 1/2-inch". Any chance of a tutorial using a hot hairbrush for styling?

Mercedes G: Insanely gorgeous hair! I'm African-American so I have kinky hair that's been processed although my length is the same as yours. Im going to try these looks. They look easy enough. Thank you!

Laurie Rambo: Always love the hair tutorials, can’t wait for you to go shorter those styles really show off your beautiful features! My hairstylist always ask me...what is Dominique up too! I’ve had a few of your cuts! Blessings

Krystal Chester: Your so beautiful and such a good teacher. I cut my hair short about a year ago because of your recommendations and I love my short hair now. Thank you!! ❤️‍♀️

Paula Gallagher: You are so good at hair styling! Your hair is shiny, healthy and gorgeous no matter how you style it!

Deb Melton: Love you hair tips! My favorite was the beachy wave look. I like it when you have more volume off you head rather that completely straight - of course just my opinion. You look fabulous no matter how you wear it!! I always look forward to Thursday - to check out your newest video!! Have a wonderful weekend my lovely friend. Deb :-)

Louise Romilly: Thanks for this, just what I was looking for since having my long hair cut into a bob. Love from Warwick, England.

sherilynschneider: Great tutorial, Dominique! Thanks!

Karen Hobson: I tried your drying technique from last week for the smooth shiny hair that would last for days. I actually got an extra day out of the wash and blow dry this week, so win-win! However, today I washed and dried/smoothed again, stepped outside and all was lost. It's humid in Tennessee today with just a fraction of rain coming down.

Tammy DeVries: Love each of the styles can't wait to try.

Dana Carey: Another great tutorial! I'm thinking of taking the plunge with shorter hair, and my hair is also curly/frizzy. I was wondering if when you were wearing your side-swept bangs a while back, was your hair parted in the middle or the side when your stylist cut it?

Dana D: Love this video using velco rollers, I have fine straight hair, this video is great, I will give them a try!

Randy Rosiello: Thanks you this was a amazing video. I’m your straight thin hair gal. So I have tried to do most of these and I find that using a brush comb or other things make my low lights.
