This is a tutorial on how to cut a side swept bang using a razor. Tips on sectioning and how to cut your own hair.

Hi, I'm Tammy and I'm going to be cutting a side-swept bang using a razor I'm going to be using this tool. It'S a feather razor. It has a guard on it. The guard actually comes out can be changed. If you rub it against your hand, this is not hurt. The razor protects your skin and protects your hair or something I've been growing, my hair out to getting rather long, and I decided that I needed a little something to give me a little bit of style around my face. So I'm going to be cutting some bangs. Now I've gone back and forth with bangs. You know, I think I've grown them out and cut them many many times. But this time you know, side-swept bangs are pretty safe because they're gon na probably start about my eyebrow and then I'm gon na cut them. So they blend into the rest of my hair. I'M gon na do a v-shape, I'm going to cut I'm gon na do a V shape in the partings when it come when, when I part heard it from the rest of my hair, a V is more flattering than if you feel like a rounded party. You know if you part your: if you make it rounded here, it tends to make your face up more round. It'S not as flattering V is definitely more flattering on your face, so I'm actually the place. You start your veins, as I can show you from a side view. Is you take the calm and where your when the comb starts to naturally fall forward? That'S the hair, that's gon na fall down. Naturally, that's the hair. That'S always gon na fall on your face. So so what it starts with me is about right right here, so I'm going to start my corner there and when I do OB like I was talking about you want it to stop about. You don't want to go past your eyebrows once it goes past your eyebrows you're, cutting into the rest of your hair. You really want to your parting until you get to your eyebrow. So again, I'm going to start it about where that clone was section. The rest off I got ta clean the section there section that part off I'm gon na do a little bit from the other side, too courtesy, okay, easier to do without other people than it is on yourself. That'S for sure, okay, so I want to get some clean partings there we're gon na session they're out of the way now with using a razor. It'S a good idea to use it when it's wet, because when I use it when it's dry, it pulls and just snag that the hair and it doesn't cut as evenly so using a wets, it's better. You don't have to get now that I have my section see I have my V now I did might be, but is not in the center. If you part your hair in the center put your V in the center, but since my I prep my hair a little bit off-center, I don't even really go to the site. I sort of go off center. That'S where you want where your Parsons is, where you want the highest points of the peak, so I'm gon na spray, my hair now and a wet it's out of the water bottle. I like using a razor for a lot of my cuts and things I really like raising I'm going to start, I'm going to start the center. The center of my name is gon na start here. The part is even a little over it and I'm gon na have it swinging to the side. So I must start it. I'M going to start it. I'M gon na start it here to begin with and I might go shorter, but I think I'm gon na start. There - and I really kind of want it to end here, so I'm a basic Annette, I'm doing an angle, strong angle, so I'm gon na start here here we go, I'm growing my hair out from bangs from before I cut them cut some rounded up a bang. I cut my daughter's bangs, I'm like oh, they came out so cute. Maybe I could do it on myself. No, they did not look cute on myself. Huh I have to use. I have to do side swept bangs by myself. So now it's already there see the angles there, but keep going. Do it a little bit at a time and use the you know my hair, so fine, so I have to use a fine tip write a column. So here I go. I'M just gon na slide down at this. You know I just put a brand new blade in there, so it's very sharp, so it'll just do all the work for me. Typically, these feather razors - I usually can get two, maybe three like really good haircuts out of them, and I have to change my blade now. I'M also now I pretty much got the shape I want now. It'S almost there again, I'm really doing a strong angle. Here. It'S pretty much where I wanted to be. You know I just have to tweak it to the other side too. So that's the way I like it. You don't have to do that beside something you can just have it go that way. I like a little bit on the other side. I just like a little something there too. You know it's a thing. It'S like, I grew my bangs out and now I'm like another way to go. No, it's just like hanging in my face. Things are good for people with long faces. My face is long, I'm a long shape, it's oblong. Actually, it's like a square and then long. I have that kind of that kind of my face, so bangs kind of even me out. They definitely are more flattering. So now they're pretty much cut. So what I'm gon na do I'm gon na do one more thing with this razor I'm gon na go underneath it just a little bit. Now again, don't worry if you have, if you're, using a razor with a guard on it, do not worry, it is not gon na hurt your skin. I mean I use it all the time now, you've never been cut. So I'm going to see it's hard to tell from this angle, I'm actually gon na cut underneath it, and I go like this just slide it a little bit real important that it sweats. At that point. The reason why I do that is because then it kind of goes under nicer. It adds a little bit more texture. You got ta, be careful not to do too much, though so now, I'm just gon na look at it make sure this is really what I want. This is as long as I wanted. I'M pretty excited about. This will drag its large round brush products in it. If you wanted to be texturized, we could just kind of leave it. That'S it. Okay, love it! What'S nice about a site, swapping two is it's longer. You know this is longer, so you kind of could just pin that out of the way, if you like it, can wear it down or fit into it. I'Ll probably be playing with this quite a bit. Okay, so that's how you do it don't hate on site, swapping with a razor. Thank you very much.

LuckyLibra Queen13: Thank you so much I have been cutting my bangs with a straight razor for a few years without and real technique, and it was always hit and miss. Im glad I have an actual tecnique now to follow in stead of just winging it lol

Catlady: Thank you so much! I have been searching for this type of cut on the fringe. My hair is cut almost identical to yours...but I am older and my hair is thinning in front. I will do this cut though and see how it turns out!

Seahorse: Can you use the Feather razor to cut bangs straight across, instead of side swept? If so, do you just pull the razor across horizontally instead of at angle? Also, do you recommend the Feather brand razor? Thanks for your great videos. I'm learning a lot!

Nicki Leigh: Thanks for these tutorial vids they are helpful

MsGGG986: this is the best "how to cut hair bangs" video on youtube! thank you so much.

stellawella3: Hi Tammy, Love your video. Can you please post a video of cutting with scissors bangs going straight across and bangs in an arch shape. Thank you so much

Agenda In Mind: My hair is very fine also, and it's disappointing how many hairdressers just do not understand how to work with fine hair. I cut my bangs as you demonstrated and it worked fabulously! (I have the razor too.) FYI..the only mousse that works with my fine hair and doesn't weigh it down is Redken Body Full Instant Bodifier. It's for baby fine texture. If you have any other suggestions, let me know, but after experimenting with about a hundred that suck, Redken actually works. Thanks!

stellawella3: Hi Great video. Have you got a video showing curved bangs cut with scissors? Thank you
