How To Style A Short, Stacked ( Inverted )Bob (2017)

How I style my short, stacked (inverted) bob. This hairstyle is great for those of us with very fine, thin hair as it allows you to get a lot of body into your style. I am not an expert or a hairdresser, but this is how I do it.

Hi everyone is disaster. Today, I'm going to show you how I blow-dry my very short stag Bob. It is not very a line like I used to have, but it's still quite stack. You know inverted, and this hairstyle is quite easy to style, because I have very, very fine, hair and the longer my hair. The more difficult is to get anybody into it, whereas with this haircut, because it's so so layered, it's really not easy to get that body. But it still needs some work. If I just left it like this, it will look just like this, probably even more feathery. So, first of all, let me tell you what I've washed my hair in this is new to me and I'm really really loving it. Do you remember I bought them living proof, shampoo and conditioner and just like a sample sizes, and I tried - and I thought, if I really like it, then I will purchase the full size. But in the meantime, one of your recommended a product from Paul Mitchell they're. A way a boy while ginger and I think it was a thickening Moss - I didn't actually buy that one, because I'm not sure if I like mosses, but I thought I tried the shampoo and conditioner. So this is the shampoo and conditioner and I absolutely love it. Love this line, so I've washed it in that shampoo and in conditioner and then I've got the Palmetto forever blonde dramatic repair. So it's a spray, but I can't see how you can is not like a fine surpress spray. So I don't know how you can just spray in your hair. I just spray it a bit on them on my fingers and I only put it in my ends because that's that part of my hair, that gets usually the most damaged and then I have their away employee, while ginger hidroméis that blowout spray. So it's supposed to be a step amplifier with weightless and with weightless what hold - and I just put it near my roots and then I spray it everywhere really, especially at the back. Okay. I wouldn't say this really gives you much hold okay, so what you will need now? It'S a hair dryer. Obviously I've got them Daesan, hair dryer, and you know I'm just lucky that my husband is a gadget man, so he bought it. For me, I probably wouldn't pay the money for hair dryer. Although I absolutely love it, please don't feel you have to have it. You can do exactly the same saying the same blow dry with an ordinary hair. Dryer. I'Ve done it for years. So please don't feel you have to have it and I do like here and if you've got very thick hair, that's probably very useful, but you really don't need to have it and I'm going to use two sizes of round brushes. Sorry. They have hair on them. But it's a hair brush, I don't know the size in inches. This is the Hedgehog iconic ceramic 77 and Hedgehog iconic ceramic 78 about these ages ago in Sally's. I still think they sell them, but you don't have to have the same brushes. You just have to get the right size brush for the length of your hair, so like the hair at the back is very very short, so obviously I need smaller brush for the hair to be able to go around it and then for the longer bits. I can use this one and also you will need some sectioning Clips, so what I do next, I section just the top front part of my hair. I know some people blow dried this part. First, I don't. I leave it to the end. This is my least favorite part blowdry, because is the thinnest as well, then I'm going to take the hair dryer and just a roughly dry it a bit. I don't want my hair to be soaking wet. Okay. Now I'm going to section my hair bit more because, like I said there is so many layers at the back, you have to section it so, first of all, because, as you can see, this bit at the front is quite long so from behind my ear, I Am going to section this bit and just clip it? Where is that, from the same with this side, just from behind your ear and this looks very attractive and then I'm going to section and you're how the back? I probably do a little one here as well, and I don't usually need the mirror in the back, I'm so used to blow drying my have done it for years. I can just do it so now, I'm going to take the smallest brush, because the hair here is the shortest and I'm going to start blow drying it, and if you prefer, you can blow-dry it um that way, so your hair sticks out depends what style you're Going for, but I show you there, the style that I do most of the time when I wash my hair now you might wonder what setting I have this on. I never had a have it on a for a heat. I have it on a second and the and on one the blowing the blowing the blower is so so strong. Honestly, you can blow your head off okay, so I'm going to take the second section. Okay, I'm doing the next section. Now this section is getting a bit longer, so I'm going to switch to a bigger brush because the smaller the brush, the tighter the curl that you are making. So I obviously don't want to cow. I want this body, so that's what I'm going to use. So I hope you can see how the shape emerges now, and this is all due to the haircut of course like I said you still need to put some work to it and I'm just doing the same thing with each section now here when you want my Body, remember: to pull your brush really really tight against your scalp and pull it forward. That will lift your root as well. I hope this looks okay because I can't check, but you can see you get all this bouncy body, so I've done now all this section. This is clip now I'm going to move on to the sides, my very thin sides. I only have I only gon na. Do it in two sections, because there isn't much hair here, I'm going really turn down the heat and the blower down, because this is the thinnest part of my hair and I'm taking the bigger bra you and do the same on this side. Okay, so that's what it looks so far, so, as you can see because of the cat, that's the shape you get and once you blow dry it gives you lots of nice volume. Now, in the front, I could to now blow-dry everything back but, like I said to you, my front is so thin and to get any decent volume. I have to really really work at it and that damage is my hair and that's always been my problem. So what I do now to save all this styling, I just dry this hair that is almost dry like 99 % dry and then I put rollers in it. I blasted with hot air, walk for half an hour. If you have time, if I don't have time, I will just do it with the brush, but if you have time do it with the rollers less less damage, I'm going to use velcro rollers everything that I'm using tools wise was bought in Sally's and you can Buy it in drugstores as well, I would say that this is too intro or maybe inch and a half and to secure them. I use these little Clips, which again you buy in Sally's or any drugstore. I don't even know what they are called as I'm going to roughly dry the front. That'S how quick it is because he's so thin, and now I'm going to take a section from actually. I am actually going to take that one that I've already blogged right as well, and I'm going to use the Sebastian of a lot spray. I talked about it a lot. I don't use it, how they say to use it. They say to use it in wet hair and he gives you hold. I don't use it that way. I use it more like a second spray for my rollers, so you have to really shake you, because it's like a liquid gel so as to face liquid. So you need to mix it. I take a section of hair. I spray that at the root - and I put my roller in and then I clip it with this and then I'm going to take another section spray that then this section I'm going to roll to the front. Don'T ask me why and if you are hairdresser, don't judge just it's just how I do my hair. I just think it gives me more volume at the top and then this front one, because my hair sort of my fringe goes that way. I guide it that way and I do it under. I don't use their setting spray. He I don't want my French to be too crusty. I also like to take these two sections and put the rollers in so I have the back really full. Now I'm going to do is spray lightly all over the Sebastian, without throw just on my rollers. I will blast it with hot air and then just leave it and walk around with it for a bit. Okay and that's be done. I know my sound quite a lot of work and and a lot of time, but it is enough. I reckon I can do this in 20 minutes. I would be much quicker if I wasn't talking showing you I'm applying, so I feel that this hair takes me less time than when I had longer hair, because again you need all that volume, so you blow dry for much much longer the longer layers, but this Is really quick, so I will come back once my rollers have cooled down? Okay, so I think he has been about 20 minutes. I can take my rollers out now they are cool and dry, make sure they are really dry, because if you've got any dampness in your head they will just collapse. So you see this spray well, that spray gave me real Holt here and there you go so now you can play with the hair. I just break it up with my hands. First, you see how much body I have here now, usually when I have this, you know mark where the role is where I usually take a hair dryer again in a brush and merge it together. So yeah I have far too much lift here. So what I would do, I will take this brush and blow-dry it this way just to flatten it a bit. Okay, that's a bit better! So now I'm going to back home a bit! You don't have to do it, but my hair, like I said, is so fine. It will collapse after an hour or so so I always need to backcomb it at the root just around the crown of my hair, then I will smooth it, and this is where I play the longest with my hair. Okay, before I finish completely, I'm going to take they're living proof, instant texture, volumizer their amp. This thing is only good ready for short hair. I wouldn't use it when you've got a long head like a cream. You have to really rub it between your hands till he disappears. Don'T put their white thing in your hair because it's going to be very sticky, you don't need much, and then you just work it underneath your hair. That sort of gives you a bit of hold and and body, and it's very good for the next day. You don't use it next day. You just brush your hair through and you will have a lot of body. Can you see how much body that gives you without ready stickiness I mean you can make it sticky if you put too much of it and then just arrange your hair, how you want it, of course I don't like it today. It'S always that way when I'm sitting in my usual place, where I do it, it comes out much better than when you're trying to do it for the camera there, and now I need to really spray the top, because again it will collapse. And if you know me, you know that I love the TG Bed Head maxed out, it's a non aerosol spray and it's like concrete. So if you don't like that, I only spray it through this top part, which is very wet, so wait for it to dry and the rest. I spray with the TG Bed Head masterpiece. My civ shine hairspray I do like using can rapper. I use can rat on me really when I curl my hair, because I like to leave the clothes and put camera underneath and it doesn't really stick it back. If you gives you a bit more body so eye on your skin rough. For that I don't know what the back looks like, because I can have a look, but I turn around hopefully is not too messy and you know I can wear it like this. I can tack one side behind my ear or I can take tag both sides which you seem to really like so yeah you. You can do quite a few things with this hairstyle and then, tomorrow morning, when I wake up, my hair will be still fine. If I have like a hole or something I might just take a brush and and fix it, and because of this living proof texturizer, there is usually some texture and body still it at the back. Some, I have to judge shoot it up spray with the hairspray and it's absolutely fine or if he doesn't look too good, then I will care late the next day. Ok, so this is how I blow-dry my short stack Bob. I hope you enjoyed it. Thank you. So much for watching and stay fabulous, bye,

Beauty By Anne-Marie: Love your haircut! I struggle with the same thing...breakage on my sides of my hair. I had a conditioner that worked wonders for my color treated hair and made it so strong and healthy (I had really long hair last year using it) but they discontinued it and now my hair breaks off easily so I keep cutting it shorter. You look great with the new hairdo!!! Lots of love to you gorgeous! xoxo

Susan Atkins: I love your videos! I have learned so much as a mature woman who "was" afraid to wear makeup. Thank you very much and keep the videos coming

11:11: I had this hair cut years ago and I absolutely loved it! It's so easy and fast to do. I grew it out midway thru my back. I always end up pulling it back so I decided yesterday to go and get it again. My Daughter is gonna kill me! She calls this style the ":Mom 2.0" I don't care. I love it! I look younger with it.

Elizabeth P: Just came across you this video, thank you i found it very helpful. Your hair looks so lovely and you make styling a bob very simple, easy and quick. Looking forward to seeing more videos of yours :)

Dianne Coughlin: I went straight out and cut my tired hair off into this hairstyle after watching this video today. I showed it to the stylist, and she recreated it perfectly. It took ten years off my face! I'm ecstatic. I love your videos!

RebeccasRoses: I had to rewatch. I love it so much. I know you are growing it out but it really helps me. I get helmet head sometimes. I like the roller idea. You are just a doll. I look forward to your videos every week. Thank you Nisha! xoxo Becki

Chippy L: Beautiful! Thanks for sharing. I'm going to show this video to my stylist and tell her this is the cut I want.

Barbara Meier: Love your posts! You're always honest about how to best use the products, where to concentrate them & I enjoy your special comments on how to best use them as you've learned during your own trial & error! You're a jem❤️❣

Sharon La Tour: Nisha, I love your hair, and the way you style it with the rollers and brushes. You always look so pretty. XO Thanks for sharing with us!

Kellie Sundstrom: Thank you so much for doing this video. I absolutely love your hair

Marilyn Baumann: Gorgeous! Love how detailed your instructions are! I have a problem though with round brushes in that they just get tangled up in my hair; is there anything I can do to avoid this? Thanks! xxoo marilyn

arij1972: Started watching your videos on make up for hooded eyes and I think your advice and methods are fantastic then I continued on watching your hair videos because I found you so informative, I coincidentally just had this hair cut yesterday, it wasn't quite what I asked for but its what I got, I haven't tried to style it yet but i hope it looks as good as your haircut which is gorgeous! You remind me of Debbie Harry too btw!

Elizabeth S: As always you are fabulous! Great demo and love your top. xoxo

Donna Jackson: It looks beautiful!! Thank you for sharing.

JoLane Tilley: I love your tutorials...so helpful. Your hair and makeup always look beautiful K

Paula Girolamo: Love it!  Do you wash and go through this every day or does this style stay in with tossing and turning on pillows?  I have fine, thin hair all over and would love to do this, just afraid I'd be taking so much time every morning!

Terrie Fox: Hey Nisha! I love your hair! I have long hair also but I love the short cuts and yours is so pretty! I just found you watching your hooded eye tutorial. Yours was the best one I have watched and your technique worked amazing! I just hope I'm able to do it! Best wishes from Terrie in North Carolina! God Bless!

Mickeyb B: love your bob! I used to do the inverted bob a lot as well. Recently grew my hair long again and have several irons, curlers, wands etc and I like the ease of just throwing my hair up in a bun. Now that I have seen your video, I am SO tempted to get a stacked bob again. I guess I could still curl the longer bits for variation.

Jr M: Thank you so much for this video! I am now wearing my inverted bob closer to what my hairdresser does it. I have always used my dryer with round brushes like my hairdresser does but it doesn't look that great and flopped after half a day. One question: I have used the smallest rollers on the back of my hair but because it is so short the hair tends to stick out. Would you recommend a different method for very short hair in the back? By the way, I have left a comment on your hooded eye video today. I have tried your technique and it makes my eyes look great! Thanks for your recommendations!

Cherix Biggs: Hi Nisha, I got this haircut over the summer. I continue to watch hair videos and read comments because the tips are very helpful! My hair is straight and fine, too. It takes about a half hour every 3/4 days to wash/style it. The other days, it takes about 5 minutes. People can google "Short stacked inverted Bob" -- choose IMAGES and they will find all kind of photos of versions of it they can screenshot and take to their hairdresser. This style is very dependent on the cut. I have to have mine trimmed every 5 weeks to keep it in shape so that I can care for it at home. I am enjoying it, because I never have a bad hair day! Sally's has generic products that are equivalent to, in my visit today, for example, to your Tigi Bedhead Maxx Non-Aerosol. It is by BTZ. I can't wait to try it. I need something that is, to use your word, "cement". Love it! :) Even my husband likes my hairstyle! Thank you soooo much!!! Cheri B. -- upstate, NY/USA

Margaret Hollins: Th anks for the great hint! I have a similar haircut with fine hair any never thought about sectioning it or putting bigger rollers in it either! I will have to try this. ❤

Carol Hamilton: Finally!! Thank you for the demo! I love your hairstyle!

Laura Phipps: Thanks for the styling tips! I have fine hair too and need all of the lift I can get!

MaryEllen After 60: I found this fascinating, Nisha. I am definitely hair challenged. Using a brush, and a dryer, has never worked for me. The back of your hair looked perfect, right after you new it dry. You are definitely talented, my friend. Many blessings, and joy....MaryEllen

catmama54: This hairstyle is absolutely stunning on you and I always have loved your color.

Donna Rose: Beautiful as always !

Living life one day at a time. Bmmrn: You are one of my favorite you tubers. Classy, well-spoken, informative and you have some of the best content and your reviews are honest.

Sharyn Newman: Thank you Nisha  for your tutorial.  I really enjoyed watching. I have similar hair and found your blow wave method great and easy to adapt to my styling routine.  I have just found your channel and will now start watching all your tutorials   Thanks  sharyn

Megan Robinson: Fantastic video! Thank you. Very helpful

sherri carr: Very beautiful. You did an extremely wonderful job with the explaining everything.

wendy kroos: love your bob!! i have the same bob like you and I'm very grateful for your tips and tricks!! I was so tired of my bob but thanks to you I like it again! xoxo

Scottie Cher: Thank you sharing your tips. You look gorgeous! Love this sweater.

Kerry Hodges: I have a similar style. Your hair looks great! Do you always style it this way? It seems a long time for me to spend on my hair. Are there any short cuts to get to your cute style?

qnina2007: I appreciate this video as your hair seems to be very much like mine, so its a good bet that your instructions and product recommendations will actually work for me.  I really like your down-to-earth advice and personable presentation style.   Keep up the great work!

Denise Burnside: Just beautiful, Nisha. I love the wine color you are wearing. You look lovely in color. Have a blessed week, and stay fabulous! - xoxo

Andrea Pressley: Thank you for this video. I have a haircut I did not know how to style. This video helped me immensely.

Elizabeth S: As always you are fabulous! Great demo and love your top. xoxo

Mzdiana: I'm jealous of your hair! I've got shoulder length, thick, curly hair. It takes me an hour just to blow-dry then I've got to touch it up with a flat iron. I cut mine just like yours and I loved it, my husband not so much. He misses my long waisted hair. Mine used to be thin and straight like yours, but with age it's now extremely thick, curly and dark. I've got to have it highlighted and colored with my cuts. I'm very fair skinned and dark hair really ages me. I'm 52 yrs young, are you over 50? Age is just a number its how young you feel that counts. Love your tutorials!

Cara Flitner: Keep the fine hair tutorials coming. They are very helpful. My hair is so fine I have no hope of growing it beyond shoulder length and expecting it to look anything other than ratty. You are a delight to watch. Keep up the great work. It is appreciated.

Olwen Davis: I have short fine hair and watching this has been very helpful for ideas although I already use curlers for volume also I love the glamorous sort of sixty's hairstyle on you just watching I was imagining you posing on a lovely pink moped in sixty's London gorgeous xx

Leigh Ann S: Very cute!! I do the same thing exactly with my velcro rollers..love them. they are a God send. so easy too!! Thanks! x0x0x0x0x0 hugs!!

Stephanie Land: Just love your videos. So helpful and I appreciate the honesty too!

Viva Fusions: Love your hair shorter its so you. I always used the Paul Mitchel products since 1980's until I brought out my own. My husband surprised me with the Dyson hairdryer at Christmas I was absolutely knocked out I had of course mentioned (a few times lol) that I would love it but never for one minute did I think he would buy it. I absolutely love it, the design has been very well thought out I use the lowest heat and blow settings (I have very fine hair too) and what I love is that it doesn't blow your hair around so I do get a much smoother blowdry. It really is amazing very lightweight and does a great job. Love your jumper by the way and enjoyed your video. oxox Vivienne

Terry Lanier: I love that dryer. I see it at ulta and wish I could get it. Your hair looks great.

Sena Cooper: This hair cut looks so good on you!!

Kathy U: I loved the video. Thanks. Your hair looks great!

ShadyLady Ruben: you always get the best haircuts that are so flattering. When I first started to watch you, it was much longer, looked fabulous. This is just as wonderful. It's those Polish genes honey we share. LOL

Joy Gross: Fabulous video again ❤ I have very fine hair also.. so it's great to have you show me what to do with it. Your so knowledgeable! Thank you. You are adorable.

Michele Zink: Hi Nisha - I Love your hair. My hair is extremely thick and I've always wanted an inverted bob, but I would look like a bowling ball. I have enough hair for 10 people. All the cute styles I see are always better on finer hair. Also, I didn't even know Dyson made a blow dryer until I saw you using it. May I ask how heavy the dryer feels?

sue maynor: Loved the video. I have baby fine hair too. Being from Dallas you know I love the big hair!! also I commented earlier this week about Charlotte Lacroix eye cream. It is on back order and will ship as soon as its back in stock. Thanks again Sue

Lisa Fenn: Hi Nisha. I enjoyed this tutorial. I also have an inverted bob but have never styled it like yours before. Mine is usually very sleek. I love your style though so I may try this on my hair. Have a lovely day Darling. Sending love from the UK. xxx

michele citrin: Hi Nisha, Your hair looks fantastic (I like the tucked behind the ears look). I got the Dyson for Christmas and love it.

Svetlana: This looks really good

Richard Campbell: Men have it easy when it comes to hair. Some days I wish I didn't have to go through all of this. I have fine hair too and it's a bear trying to style my hair and have it hold. Your hair looks fantastic. Thanks for the tips! :)

Andrea Vancsa: Thank you so much,at last I have great hair :) I have seen so many videos but without results. You are the best :)

Lu G: Hi! Patti (@rxstrmom) sent me here. :-) Loved watching your step-by-step hairstyling video and I appreciate all the great tips. I also have fine, somewhat thin hair and I *love* your haircut! ♥

Susan Virginia: The back of your hair looks so nice and I really like your behind-the-ears look.

Gayle Sanchez: Simply gorgeous!!! I love your videos and I love your hair!!

Nancy Moore: Thanks so much, beautiful job and I have learned so much. Thanks again.

Kim Hough: You always look fabulous Nisha! Great video!

Mellie Vern: sexy/classy/full/feminine hairdo. Nisha, you NEVER have a bad hair day! Love your hair always and your pretty makeup!

Claire Martin: Loooove Living Proof amp Nisha hooray for Dominique Sachse telling us about it. I'm also using the Tony & Guy Volumiser cream that you add to your roots along with their 3d style spray and it's usually on 2 for £9 at Superdrug.

Emma Allmand: thanks so much Nisha for this video ....my hairstyle is very similar to yours ...I will give this a go xx

Carmen Salomé: Beautiful!

Life Unboxed: Mousse's seem to pull my hair down unless my stylist uses it, but it doesn't work for me. I have an inverted bob now and your video has helped me immensely! Thank you!!❤️

Linda B: Thanks for this video! I do the same the same thing, I only use the rollers if I have time, which I usually don't, lol

Dee Jahant: Thank you! I use Text it ll from Loreal Studio as my volume in the roots. I always just bend over and blow it almost dry but I'll try this. The Loreal really creates a lot of volume. Then I do the velcro rollers or hot rollers depending on time. Great video Nisha!

Novemberbaby333: Do you go through this process every day, even if you aren't going anywhere? Love your haircut & style!!

Julie Monroe: Fabulous tutorial I loved it.

Vicky Chartrand: Your hairs looks fabulous at that length. Thanks for sharing :)

Karen Lynne: This hair cut suits your look perfectly. Pretty!

Joanne Phillips: I think I’d like to try this and get my haircut this way too. It looks very nice!

Eleanor Rodway: Thanks Nisha this has been very useful to me. I love that your hair looks so healthy, and I'm sure your plant based diet helps with this. Xx

Jane Carder: From a former hairdresser, Good job! Love your cut, too!

Tiffany Volk: So funny when you said I am not a hairdresser so don't judge! You go girl!! . Looking fabulous thanks Nisha!!
