Aveda How-To | Everyday Volume For Medium-Textured Hair

http://www.aveda.com/product/5222/1691... Learn how to achieve weightless volume in medium-textured hair with Aveda's Global Creative Director, Antoinette Beenders.

Begin by cleansing hair with a shampoo that helps maintain your look between trips to the salon. Work Aveda Color Conserve Shampoo into a gentle lather and rinse thoroughly before applying Color Conserve Conditioner for moisture. Towel dry and spritz Aveda Brilliant Damage Control onto your hair, following with Phomollient Styling Foam for beautiful body and texture. Use a comb to evenly distribute the product from roots to ends.

At Aveda, we believe product plus technique equals results. Dry hair until it contains 60% less moisture, and then pin into sections. Antoinette demonstrates the flat wrap technique, using a flat bristled or paddle brush to firmly brush hair to the right side of the head, running a blow dryer from nape to ends. Switch to the left side of the head, holding hair taut. Finally, use a round brush with soft bristles and apply the heat from the blow dryer along the underside of the brush. Repeat in layers, adding height at the crown. Complete the look with Aveda Pure Abundance Volumizing Hair Spray.

[, MUSIC PLAYING ], Prep style, finish. Product plus technique gets results. Aveda.. Do you have hair like Casey and you would like more volume? Let me show you how., Like a lot of us. Casey'S been coloring her hair., So we'll use Color, Conserve shampoo and conditioner to help protect and preserve her hair's color.. We are ready to prep for styling., We'll spray, Brilliant Damage, Control on Casey's, hair and comb. It through.. This will help protect her hair from thermal damage and it will also reduce breakage., It's great for all hair types. [ MUSIC PLAYING ] Then we'll evenly distribute the Phomollient through her hair for weightless volume, with light hold. Now we'll add a nozzle attachment to the blow Dryer. Set it on high heat and high speed.. Now we're ready to blast Casey's hair to remove excess moisture.. It will be about 60 % dry when we're done., We'll remove the pick from Aveda's large round brush and insert it into the end.. This will help section. Casey'S hair. You'll get better results if you style your hair in sections. Instead of trying to do the whole thing at once. After we separated Casey's hair into four sections, -- top back and both sides --. We are ready to flat wrap her hair on the sides and the back.. First, we brush her hair tightly against her scalp to the right while blow drying at the roots with a nozzle attachment., Then we go back and dry her roots in the opposite direction, making sure to dry in small sections.. We'Ll do this on both sides as well.. We dry the hair from mid-length to the ends by placing the brush underneath. Hold it taut, while blow drying from above moving slowly towards the ends with the brush and dryer wrapping the hair around the brush just slightly at the ends for a little natural volume.. We'Ll repeat this process on the sides and on the back., Starting at the back of the head, taking the section below the crown rotate the hair around the brush and blow dry from above. As the blow dryer heats. The hair from the outside our ceramic brush also heats the hair from the inside.. This speeds up the process.. We continue drying Casey's hair in the same way, moving forward section by section. Until we reach the top of her head., Then we shift to the front hairline., We'll Flat, wrap the front section of Casey's hair on top, just as we did on the sides and on the back. First brush the hair tightly in one direction and then the opposite. Direction., As we move to the front, we continue drying., We roll the brush from the roots to the ends.. This creates even volume. Use the same technique, all the way back to the crown. We'll round brush blow dry. The last section of the hair towards her face. [, MUSIC PLAYING ]. Now we are ready to brush through Casey's hair.. We'Ve got lots of volume at the crown exactly where we want it. We'll use our fingers to manipulate the hair.. It'S time to finish. We're spraying Casey's hair with Pure Abundance, volumizing, hair spray to fight humidity and give great hold. We'll use our fingers to finish the style. [ MUSIC PLAYING ], Prep style and finish with Aveda. [ MUSIC PLAYING ]
