Hey yo welcome back to my bathroom. My name is Brittany, and today I'm gon na be showing you how to do your own haircut in your own bathroom by yourself fold. This cipher I'm a real hairdresser, but today I'm gon na be showing you how to do this with something you may have at your home, just regular scissors. So I'm going to be using the same thing now. This haircut can be on any length of hair. Any type of hair is a pretty basic cut, we're just going to be creating a 1 length on the bottom and we're gon na finish it up with longer layers. So it's pretty versatile for any face, shape or any hair type to get started. I'Ve shampooed blow dried and I've ran the smoothing iron through my hair to get it straight. I'M gon na be cutting my hair dry, but I have thinner hair. So if you have a thicker set of hair, I would suggest you cut it wet, I'm gon na part, my hair, where I normally part it just off to the side here. Take my comb in the back and part it straight down the middle and bring all of this for now we're gon na comb, our hair with maximum tension falls together just like, if you were going to put into like some dog ear, ponytails find a reference point On our shirt or on our body of where we want this to go probably a little past the armpit, so that's how I'm gon na judge that so I'm going to comb all this side together, wrap this with my two fingers: pinching it in there crap calling It bean pulling it down and finding out him a little bit below my armpit. Now my fingers are parallel to the floor. So they're straight with the floor, I'm gon na go ahead and shift my fingers down at a 45 degree angle. What that's gon na do when we cut against that is it's going to create a little bit of a gradual increase on our hair? That is going to be little bit shorter and the fronts gon na be a little bit longer, not going to be one of those very distinct and defiant short bobs, where it's like short and then long we're not going for that. I have Center here. So I'm able to do this in one cut or one section: if you have thicker hair or curly hair, I would suggest you parting this off into smaller subsections and you're, just going to repeat the process with those subsections using your bottom part as the guy or What you're going to follow for the length I'm just going to take my scissors and I'm going to cut it's very blunt, but don't worry about that! I'M going to show you what a big day now we're gon na match the other side comb it all down! Maximum tension crackpot or pinch it sui maximum tension. Parallel to the floor, we're gon na find our reference point which was right below the armpit. Then we're going to shift our fingers in a 45 degree angle we're going to cut and you're using these types of scissors, not your cutting scissors, it's not going to be great! So don't worry about it being perfectly straight. I'M going to show you how to blend that this side is a little bit longer, no problem, let's cut it again, now we're going to check and make sure that's even enough just by feeling it and it feels okay, we've cut her basic shape. Now, let's add some layers and then we're gon na worry about blending these blunt lines we're just going to get a horseshoe parting or just like when you're putting your hair like a nun, half and a half, you know we're gon na be creating a long layer. Now we don't want to ruin our foundation or the shape we just created, so we're just getting the top we're gon na over direct this board so comb it all the way in front of your face. We'Re gon na grab this with maximum tension. I'M gon na be using the bottom of my chin as a reference point, so I'm gon na be cutting straight across right about you, so I'm gon na be putting in like an inch ball now. I know this looks scary, but what's happening when you're over directing your hair forward. So much of this back piece it's coming forward when you cut it, it's actually going to be the longest piece, because it's over directed so much so when you think you need to take this down, it'll be short gradually going too long, or around later take my Scissors and just cut this off perfect, so you can see here when I take this layer and bring it back. It'S going to blend nicely with the rest of my hair. I still have two links, but now I've created a shorter, longer ish layer. Some of your lines might be a little harsh like this is a little bit hard for me and it's also a big disconnect it's going here and then it's just dropping off, so I'm gon na take my comb grab this and I'm gon na blend this together. So I'm using that shortest piece as a guide, I'm going to open my scissors and I'm going to be working on the belly of the scissors, which is just the middle and I'm going to be taking a notching approach. Just E and we're gon na slide across. Just notching it down and then I'm directing it for I'm gon na do the same thing. On the other side, I'm sure it's often this Bank Park. So I'm going to direct it right in front of my face. Take my shears or scissors again and just notch out some of this going in a diagonal, so I create like a soft feather around my face. Now I'm gon na blend together these sides. I have a little bit of a weight on these two corners here and most people do it's where we get her weight in our hair on this side and this side, and if we grew hair on a forehead, we would have a weight of hair in there Too, it's the four corners because the hair is kind of growing at a square, but the head is round so it takes a lot of weight gathering cute. I need to get rid of that. So I'm going to take this chunk. I'M gon na drop off the very bottom piece because again that's my link. I'Ve already done that we're not going to disrupt it, I'm going to over direct it up, bring it forward and then I can see here there's my shorter piece. Here'S another shorter piece! That'S my weight that I need to cut out. That'S what's making my favor have that little corner and I'm going to point cut this, which means I'm just going to use now the tip of my scissors and kind of dodge at it same thing. On the other side, point cutting it, so it's a more staggered rugged. Look then bring it back if you want the ends to be a little bit more soft and natural you're going to take your hair, take your crafts balls, bring it down just like this. Take your shears and point cut them up up and down up and down you're not going to decide if you go to the side, you're, removing the length and changing the shape. If you go up and down you're, not ruining the shape, you're just blending it together, and I want to leave mine kind of blunt cuz I like that look. It also helps my hair look a little bit thicker. Well, I pick up a big chunk. Did you see that okay whoops, so that's it check out the back like tuck it behind your ear or whatever trying to be sexy, trying to be cute? It'S not like super perfect, like if I got my hair cut professionally, but to get you by where you're at home it's gon na be fine, and if you mess up, don't worry, I can show you how to fix that with hair extensions that you can find On Amazon for under $ 100 I'll show you up at those in and that's it thanks for joining here, I'm a YouTube channel be sure to subscribe to my youtube channel like or dislike this video who cares, I will see you every week for something new

Kristina Garcia: Finally someone that gets to the point and doesn't treat viewers like we are stupid - you rock mama!!

Dominiq: I love how simple and confidence-building this tutorial is! No scaring off anyone as most videos do, thank you so much!

Megan G: I've been a licensed cosmetologist for almost 15 years. I do hair almost 7 days a week. This tutorial was actually really good! I love the layers!

Gabatron3000: This is probably one of the best self cut tutorials out there! I have super thick hair and every time I've tried other tutorials they're usually done on thin hair so my hair ends up choppy and uneven. But even when I cut my hair into sections (and WET), it still came out pretty good! Thank you for saving us all from quarantine hair

Natalia Yev: I love her attitude, so chill and easygoing and makes it really fun instead of stressing over cutting your own hair

Alanna Ryan: As someone that cannot draw a straight line to save her life, I was skeptical regarding my skill set. I watched your tutorial twice, and after being so tired of looking at my damaged ends, took the plunge and cut it myself. This tutorial was absolutely fantastic! I was able to cut it exactly as shown and clean it up so it looked nice and textured. Thanks for giving this gal a COVID project and the confidence to do it myself!

Baja Gal: I’m here because of Covid. Never tried to cut my own hair before. Watched a bunch of other videos, but found your approach the easiest. My hair turned out great! Even the back looks even. I got a lot of complements and people were shocked when I told them I did it myself. Thanks so much. Great video!

Emily Smith: This tutorial was so much easier to follow than the others I’ve been trying since March. Thank you for making it simple and easy - it turned out great! And your attitude towards hair really helped ease any worry I had about doing it myself - worst case scenario, it will grow back!

ClauClau: I just cut my own hair and it looks fabulous! I’ve gotten horrible hair cuts cuz my hair is so thick it overwhelms people, but now I can do simple hair cuts on my own thanks to you! Thank you!

Laura Ode: Your instructions were awesome! Easy to follow and my new cut turned out way better than I expected! Thank you for sharing your expert tips!

FactsoverfeelingsPam: Thank you! This is the second time I’ve used your method and it works great. I have curly hair so even if it’s not perfect no one would ever know. I’ll continue to use this video every time I need a trim. Saves me tons of money too!!!

urbansoy: Love this! Just cut my own hair using this tutorial and loving it, the cutting the weight off the sides was a game-changer. Thanks, Brittnee!

Mrs Rawc: So incredibly excited to have found you and this spot on perfect video for cutting my fine hair. Love how you got straight to the tutorial, each step was clearly visible and explained, how you used regular old craft scissors and were extremely personable and real. Thank you! Marcy Winograd: Thank you, Brittnee! I'm proud to say I successfully cut my hair for the first time in my life (68 years old), using your excellent video, with its perfect pacing, with every step broken down and modeled, and my hair looks 1000% better. You rock!!!

Samantha Parsons: This tutorial saved my hair after an awful cut following Brad Mondo’s tutorial, thank you!!

Momozuke: I’ve never tried cutting my hair before, so I was pretty nervous, but this tutorial was great! I have very thick hair so it was definitely challenging, but I took my time and did a lot of blending and touching up and my friends say it looks great! I definitely need some improvement, but this video was a great start and I’m happy the end result

Baby Gayle: Thank you!! I’ve been doing my long layers for a couple years now, but was always too scared to attempt my length. You explained it quickly and easily! My hair turned out great! Saved me 75$!!

Melissa Wagner: Thank you so so much for this. I have very long hair and wanted to get rid of some of the length. I was tired of spending $80 for a basic cut, so I followed your tutorial and it looks great. It isn't perfect, but I don't think anyone is going to notice. You're the best!! ❤

Sheryl Blahuta: I really appreciate this video and your detailed instructions. I have zero knowledge or experience in cutting my or anyone else’s hair, but I was encouraged and confident to give it a go after watching your tutorial. I was pleasantly surprised with the results despite a small, but hidden too-short chunk. Thanks for providing this service! I’m following now. Also, I LOVE your hair color!

Sith_Lady_Kezza: This video was so helpful. I’ve not been able to get to the hairdressers in so long and I was desperate to clean up my damaged ends. I only did a trim following the tutorial step by step but my hair looks so much healthier without taking off loads of length. Thank you so much!

Lindsay Leif: I tried this and I am so pleased with the results! I haven't had a cut since February and needed it badly. I have thick hair and lots of it, so I cut mine wet and sectioned it. Your video is easy to follow and the technique is simple. Thank you for sharing!!

Jan Peterson: Brittnee you saved the day! I got a little crazy two nights ago and messed up my side bangs and then kept making it worse. Plus, my hair looked sectioned and all disconnected. I followed this video and wow! My hair looks great now. It doesn’t look like I cut much but it lays down nice and feels swingy when I move my head. My side bangs would have looked better and been a little longer if I had watched this video before I tried to fix them yesterday, but at least I can live with them now. Thanks again for an easy to follow video for we DIY girls who think we know what we’re doing until we mess it up.

Amber K: This is a great, easy-to-understand tutorial. I really appreciate it

Joli: I have been cutting my bangs for decades, but you have just inspired me to cut the back of my hair for the first time (I am 59) using your method. You made it so easy and explained it so well. I cut about 2 inches off the bottom and I am happy with the outcome. Thank you for saving me money - now I don't have to go to the salon and pay $85.oo for cut and blow dry

robyn dunleavy: I intuitively cute my hair doing the first two steps. No background what so ever. The extra steps you added is nice and helpful. Thank you.

Manda Lamoreaux: So good! Love the way it turned out. I also love how you explain it without making it super long and exaggerated.

This video is how I’ve been doing my hair, and it’s actually a relaxing knowing I’ve been doing it right. Saved it so I can look back, I always go blocked on my fringe, but now I know how to smooth it in thanks to this video! Thankyou!!

One Anjel: omg, that's both the easiest and most effective hair tutorial I've ever tried. thank you! took me less than 20 min including clean up.

Joy M: Thank you so much for this - your directions and explanation were awesome. I have fine, wavy hair and smoothed it out before cutting - did slightly less over-correcting. I ended up taking off a couple of inches and couldn’t believe my natural texture and how good my hair looks after a wash and air dry with a little product, I actually burst into tears! So happy, thank you!

Larry Schwartz: Great tutorial. Really worked well for us, as I followed it to cut my wife;s hair. Thank you so much!!

Caite Morgowicz: This tutorial was so helpful! I have wavy hair and really struggled to get a halfway decent cut following the tutorials by others with wavy and curly hair. I straightened my hair and followed your tutorial and had the best wash day the next day. I also no longer have hair that is longer in the middle of my back vs at my shoulders, so thankful about that! My hair cannot pull off that look. Now mine appears straight across.

Really appreciate your direct, detailed and thorough explaining of the steps needed to do this. Just purchased a professional shears set and will be using your tutorial since I HATE having my hair as long as it has become! Thanks again..

singergrrl77: Love this video thank you so much. Since quarantine and a little before I have been cutting my hair at home I’ve been cutting my bangs at home for years and years and years because it was too much hassle with my work schedule and my bangs grew so fast. But with quarantine and the salons being closed I literally put my hair in clear elastics and point cut it and my husband said I did not do too bad at all I have extremely fine hair I even bleached and toned my hair at home And did olaplaex treatment to my hair to protect it. Your hair is so beautiful I love the platinum color. Trust me I really love when a professional does it so much more but this will have to do until I feel comfortable going into an enclosed space for 4 to 5 hours. Plus it’s saved me so so much money since I lost my job. Again thank you so much what a beautiful video

Smash Lee: Just came across this video. Thank you so much! This is the best haircut tutorial I have come across. My hair looks (dare I say) almost as good as when I go to the salon. So easy to understand!

Anna Porthouse: Omg!! Thank you! My hair is so thick and long I was worried I would mess up. I managed to section my hair and cut it following your instructions and it worked!! I can’t believe it no uneven lengths, this will save me some pennies especially with the cost of living going up.

robin dalmiras: I am a stylist and this is a pretty cool and straight forward tutorial! I recommend using a better scissor but this is such a simply tutorial! Great job

Samantha L: Thank you! This was so fun. I have never been able to do anything with my hair and I did this successfully!

Wonder Womman: OMG I just did this! Thank you. Love my hair now!! The only thing that was more tricky was doing it the exact same lenght if shorter than what you did. But practice makes perfect.

swannoir: This, for me, is the best cut-your-own-hair tutorial I have seen! Goodness, so simple! Especially for me, as I WANT a blunt cut so some of the steps I didn't even do. I started off slowly, just took off an inch to see how it worked. I have thin hair so don't have to do sectioning and love how to just cut at a slant so I don't have to worry about trying to do the back separately. I love it! Plan to go back for more later. Thank you, Brittnee!

Ambers Team: I love this video so much it helped me know what to say so they can really understand what I’m asking for without me feeling misunderstood thank you thank you the explanation was so good and great for someone who knows nothing about hair. It’s hard to get the haircut you want if you don’t know what to say

Jennifer Grames: I successfully gave myself bangs the other night and I am soooo proud. Now I am off to finish the look with this awesome video!! Wish me luck!! I will let you know how it goes!

Selena L: This is amazing video Thank you! I've done my hair using this video twice already and it looks great every time.

Julia M: SO glad I found this bc I've seen some other well-known stylists with DIY haircut videos & I'm not putting them down, but they're just a little too complicated to try & do myself. So, thank you so much for sharing this! I love how you get straight to the point & explain while showing us & repeating yourself. That's definitely something I find very helpful! I'll def be trying this very soon.

Tricia MsSenseNSensibility: I’ve watched many tutorials and I have to admit, hands down, yours is the best, because I love how my hair looks after your instructions. Thanks mucho!
