Hi guys welcome back to my channel so in this video here, I'm going to show you how I went from this hair, this hair, that you see right here so um. I must admit that this is a really big change for me. I found myself that I would never cut my hair. I'Ve had long hair for over six years and prior to that, I did have a like angled or revealing bob cut, and I hated it. But when I grow my hair long, I would never ever ever cut it again, but time has passed. Things have changed and I chopped my hair off. So this is what my hair looks like now and I actually I'm digging it. I really. I really like the the cut um, so I did cut it myself, I'm not professional or anything like that, but I just I kind of know how to cut hair in a way and I'm just kind of I kind of did it my way me not probably Not the right way, but it's the way that I did in a way that worked for me. So I thought that it was time for me to just start from scratch. You know chop it all off. You know, knowing me um, I colored my hair. So many times that he might reach its lust shop of lights with my hair, so it was completely done and she didn't look at it at all, but in reality it was pretty bad. So I thought you know I'm gon na cut it off hair girl's back. I can write extensions if I want long hair again, so you know there's no harm in that, so I wasn't too scared. I was ready for the change and that's why I did it so um. If you want to see how I achieved this, look on my own and just keep on watching alright guys, so this is my hair before it's really long and as you can see, the ends are pretty dry, so um, I'm just admiring how long that is right. Now, alright, so before we get started, and I want to make sure that I brush out the hair to remove all knots and tangles so that I can cut my hair easier. Alright, so I'm just sectioning my hair into two sections here: plotting it down the middle and I'm just grabbing hair tie and I'm going to tie two ponytails to my hair and with that I'm going to be using those hair ties as a guide as to how Short, I want my hair to be so I'm kind of bringing it down a little bit. So I think that's a little bit too short with how I want it. So now that I've determined the length I'm going to make sure that both sides are even and I'm going to be grabbing my new pair of shears that I got from Sally's and I'm just gon na go ahead and cut it. I must admit guys that this part was really nerve-racking for me really scared, but you know I just like to sweat for it. I just went ahead and did it as you can see. It looks okay already as it is, but still I was really scared. Alright. So going on to the next side, there we go, my hands are gone all right. So now I'm doing is I'm just going to be sectioning, my hair, I'm going to tie the top half up and I'm going to be working with the bottom ends and I'm just going to be getting rid of the rough edges of my hair. So taking a section like this, I'm just using my scissors, pointing the tip upwards and just cutting the ends off just to soften up the rough edges. You so I'm just bringing down more hair in a new section, and I'm just going to repeat the steps with every layer and just be careful guys we're doing this on your own watch, your fingers, you don't want to snip your fingers, especially with these kind of Scissors are pretty pretty sharp, so just please be careful and what I'm James I'm checking to see if the layers are even if not I'm going to slip it off, and now I'm just kind of feathering it downwards to give it some nice softer layers, I'm not Really cutting it straight on I'm doing kind of like a feathering effect, so that I kind of get rid of the dead ends and kind of give it that nice soft layered look in the same thing on the other side as well, you want to repeat it All over the hair, I also did the back. I didn't really show it in the video, but I also did the back so now I can, as you can see in my hair, is straight so the reason why I straighten my hair is so that I can see how the hair actually looks this even any More blunt edges, so I, as you can see there are a little bit of rough edges there. So I'm just going back with my scissors and just cleaning that out giving it more of a softer look. So I'm just playing around with my hair right now to see if I can see any other rough edges, and you know just wanting to soften that up a little bit all right. So now it's time for my thinning shears, I did find that my ends seemed a little bit thick for my liking. So I'm going to do is I'm going to bring my hair out the same way? I was doing it with a feathering effect. I'M going to do that with my thinning shears, so I'm not cutting the hair, I'm just spinning out the the ends of the hair Singh technique all around the hair. So it's just cutting a little pieces of my hair. It'S not putting a whole lot, but just enough to kind of thin out the ends. For me a little bit, and here you have it my final look, so my camera kind of died on me when I was doing my hair at the very end. I was going to show you how I colored it, but instead I'm just going to show you what I use since I didn't have a chance to film it. So my hair right now, it's back to gray, like gray silver and I'm probably just going to keep it this way until it fades out into took wand again so um. This is what I used. I used the barrel, kpac color intensity in titanium. That'S what I use right here and you just you, don't have to add in a developer, employments semi-permanent color. You can just apply it on your hair, as is so it's pretty much just like Manic Panic or the color iron brilliance. I just added conditioner to it. Well, I use probably just half the bottle cuz me as short, and I just kind of squeeze a quarter cup of conditioner and I just mixed it and I just plopped it onto my hair and that's how it turned out yeah, that's pretty much it that's how I achieve this look so I hope you enjoyed this video thanks again for watching. If you liked it, please don't forget to subscribe. Alright, see ya, you

Kay Dee: I tried this method and it worked great! My hair is a lot thicker so feathering and thinning out took a lot more time and effort. Sharp scissors is an absolute must or it's gonna take forever. Thanks for uploading, this is gonna save me so much money ;)

SydneyKayJones: In case you guys are wondering, this actually works. I did it last night and it looks great!

BadWolf Whovian: I cut my own hair yesterday after watching your video and I love it! Mine is more of a LOB but I feel so refreshed. Thanks for the inspiration!!

Gerrie: OMG thank you for this tutorial! Planning to cut my hair myself today and seeing this gave me an idea of how to do it. As my hair got longer, I shed more than ever which makes my hair super thin. So thank you! =)

zuzu's petals: I cut about the same length off the day I watched this video. My bangs weren't quite as long, but I feathered them too, and it looks great. Thanks for the tutorial. I love being able to cut my own hair, and now feel comfortable doing a shorter cut like I did the longer version.

varunika: OMG! Thank you so much for making this video! I've been searching all over YouTube for a tutorial like this and I'm so happy. You helped me a lot and I'm in LOVE with my long bob haircut!

Dalia Hisham: I've been wanting to get this haircut for some time now but i am a little apprehensive about going to hair salons so this tutorial was actually a life saver.

Jessy Gomes: Ficou Linda❤. Super combinou.

Rosie: i love how you took us through the whole thing by styling it the way you normally have it, cutting, straightening, doing it again. instead of just lobbing it off and saying okay guys thanks for watching! only thing is when you mentioned the dye, your hair is already bleached and i think that is worth mentioning because it significantly influenced the way the grey turned out

Gail DC: I love it! Thank you for the great tutorial. I am going to try it also.

Kristen: Thanks for the tutorial, my hair was about to same length as yours and on your advice I (successfully) cut it into a great looking medium-length wavy bob. Yay!

Jamie Barrington: OM freaking G! This is seriously THE best haircut tutorial I have come across on YouTube. At first when I saw your long hair, I was thinking, "NooOooo, don't cut all your pretty long hair off!" Then once you started, I was mesmerized. Your new cut looks so amazing! Looks like a professional did it. Very beautiful results! I want to try a hand at cutting my own hair, but I'm afraid the chances of me giving myself a hack job are somewhat great. The odds aren't in my favor, but what the heck, I only live once! LOL

Noora Abdo: I wanted to leave u a thank u note . I just had the courage to cut my hair after watching this video and it was very successful!!! I am really happy cus I never thought I would be able to cut my own hair a trendy haircut better than a lot of salons out there so thank U

Julie Aponte: Thank you for this video! I too have had my hair long for like 10 years really. I've gone to 3 different stylist during the last 10 years and was unhappy with all of them so I used what I learned in hair school back in the day and just decided to cut my own hair. But I'm going to be honest!! Doing it in the mirror sucks LOL everything is backwards but you already know this :-) I love the haircut you gave yourself! It looks fantastic. But honestly you're adorable well let's scratch that. You are gorgeous! You could shave your head and look beautiful. But don't do that please :-) okay so I colored my hair yesterday and it was kind of yellow so I'm toning it now. Then I'm going to seriously consider cutting this hair :-) thank you for giving me courage

LaGurriss83: yaaas!perfect tutorial. I've been debating it but you convinced me! ima do it!*update*love it! I wear it wavy since I don't like to heat up my hair but it looks fab!! so many complimentsyay

Amanda G: I cut my hair using this technique a few weeks ago. It worked out pretty good, minus the fact that it wasn't a lob. The back was significantly longer than the fronts. I had to shorten the back quite a bit to make it a lob.

Lea C: It looks so pretty on you! Wouldn't it have been easier if you cut it when it was straight and/or wet to begin with? Just curious.

Chai: Hi! Great video! Was just wondering how much you paid for your shears at Sally's?? I know the good ones can be so expensive and also it's not good to cut your hair with dull scissors. So new sharp ones should be best but how much did you pay for those? Thx! You are talented!

Lorena Ramos: So........I took a chance and just did it! Cut off 3.5 inches and followed your instructions to the T - turned out so great! I love it more than any time I've been to a salon. WOW.

Caz T: looks great, will copy this tonight! xx

Caroline: This really is the best tutorial for this hairstyle.

Edhi C: I love it! My hair is super thick, what is the best brand of thinning scissors?

Antoinette Eve: Since your hair was already lightened from your previous coloring, the grey color was easy to achieve I'm assuming. However, would that product work with hair that is medium brown?

K D: Ok so I just did you layering video and then watched this one..so I now have a long bob loll.My hair was super long stringy and its hot as heck in Ca. So I went back added a few layers its shorter than yours but I love it.. It looks healthy and I might even be able to wear it down.
