#DominiqueSachse #Hair #Blowout

Welcome to this week's video, it is a hair tutorial by request. A lot of you have been asking for a blowout with this cut and style and in particular, getting a lot of volume at the root area. Also, a lot of you ask me: what is that haircut? What'S the name of it to best describe this, it is really a pixie bob. So what's the difference between a pixie and a pixie bob has to do with the angle of the cut. So, as i pull everything straight down, you will see that this haircut is done primarily in a bob, so you've got the longer pieces up front and then it angles toward the side kind of in a graduation with a lot of texture and then the back is A little bit choppier so having a pixie bob gives you more options, as opposed to just a straight on pixie. Because of the length i mean, you can definitely push it all forward like so you can do what i do a lot, which is tuck it behind one ear and then get some height here and let this front part come forward or you can take pomade and Totally slick the hair back and get it off of your face and a true pixie would be more of this, but with these shorter hairs kind of up front, possibly dipping forward, these would be short and tucked. So that's more of a traditional pixie type of a look, but that really helps to differentiate between the two. In the meantime, this hair is dirty and it needs to get washed. What i'm going to do is use my favorite shampoo for blonde hair and conditioner. It'S vanilla, no yellow, shampoo, conditioner, 100 vegan, the color is violet, don't let it scare you, but what it does is it helps to cut the yellow in blonde hair, which happens over time just from the minerals in the water products that we use and overall fading. So this really helps to brighten, and if you like that, ashy blonde, that's very popular right now. It will also bring you more to that ashy, almost grayish beige tone, depending on how much you use and how long you let it stay in the hair. So i'm going to hit the shower and then i'm going to come back and we're going to do a full on blowout freshly out of the shower. With a little bit of makeup applied, let's get started, i'm going to use as a leave-in treatment a product by olaplex number; seven, it's their bonding oil. It is good for all hair types, fine straight wavy, curly, it's a heat protector, it's a color protector and it's just a wonderful product as a leave-in before you do your blowout. So i take a few drops rub it between the palm of my hand, and i really concentrate kind of on these front areas that need a little bit more protection. It'S where the highlighting is heavier and, of course, where there tends to be more breakage around the face right, a little bit more, i'm not going to use a volumizing mousse or anything like that. I find that when hair is short, you have to be really careful with those products because it can get too bendy and rounded looking at the scalp, which is kind of an outdated look, we really want to get the hair kind of flat, sleek and smooth plus I'Ve got a technique for creating lift right here at the front part of the root i'll show you that in just a bit, so there are two different brushes that i'm going to use. One of them is gsq by glam squad and it's an ionic brush. I'D say the barrel is about an inch and a half wide and then the other one is a brush by helium, and this looks to be about two inches. This one i'm going to use around the front hairs because i really want to pull and get those straight. The bristles are tightly packed as opposed to this one, which has looser bristles for more the back and the top of the crown. Of course, i have my gold standard, my elchem hair dryer super high heat super fast. Let'S go at first, i just blow side to side just to get some volume and i'm going to start straightening the front. This is where i have the most frizz, so i work on the front and work my way back and i'm going to start with that helium brush to really be able to pull it and get it smooth. So, as you can see to get it flat and not bumpy, i'm grabbing the hair from the top and then i'm kind of going under like so so it's grabbing from the top pulling it forward and going under. So, on this side, it's a combination of doing what i just did kind of rolling it under and back and then going from the top down where my hair parts or where i want it to part i'll kick a little bit of height here with this brush And then pull it forward, not back the sides are going straight down. I don't i don't want the bubble so i'm i'm going under, but then i'm following with the blow dryer all the way down to the very end, this top layer. I want to be really smooth and straight. I will use this brush and then i will work my way to the back with the smaller brush. So i'm doing a combination right back here, i'm pulling it more to the side and then farther in the back that one's going to be the overlay piece in the back. So it's going to have this opportunity to kind of brush forward or brush back okay. So now for the rest of it, i'm going to just use the blow dryer to flatten this part out and then the smaller brush to get a little bit of lift here in the back. So, as you can see with the nape of the neck, you want to push all of that forward and then with the brush. This is where you're, giving it some volume so that it it's not totally flat against your head, but actually has a little bit of a a poof for some height and for some volume and we're almost done. Then i pop it on cool all right. Let'S see what we have so, first of all, i'm sure you can see what the vanilla shampoo did. It immediately cut the yellow out of the hair, really sort of beiged it up gave it a nice kind of ashy color and i'm not as goldy yellow as i was, and i prefer this so i think this looks really good. So let me fully turn around and you can see what's going on so right now. This is more of the bob mode. Right got the long, hair everything's straight. Here'S where we get to have fun and really play around with the ability to create some height and different shapes with the hairstyle. So you know those tiny little clips, itty bitty ones, here's what i do after the blow dry. I take a large section of the front and i'm just going to warm it up real, quick with the hair dryer and now i'm going to take this, and since my hair is going to fall this way, i'm going to pull it in the other direction. Like so, and i'm going to secure it with this little clip loosely sew, not tight, see how it's got that little bit of a a bump. Then i'm going to take the kenra volume 25 and i'm just going to hit the front with hairspray. Just a tiny, tiny, tiny, tiny bit, that's it so it's got still the heat from the hair dryer and the hairspray, and now i'm just going to let it cool like this, and this is a great opportunity. If you haven't applied your makeup yet or you need to do a touch-up or you need to put on some clothes, that's usually what i do at this point. While this is cooling in the other direction, so i'm going to give it a couple of minutes and then i'll be right back okay, so a few minutes have gone by and things have cooled off. I'M going to finish it up with my garnier fructis pure clean pomade, it's a paste that i use and it is a little white cream, and what i do is i just take this little clip out, and this is the direction see how i instantly got all That lift right there just from letting it cool with the hairspray. So now i'm going to grab just i don't know we like a dime size amount of the pomade. I don't need that much warm it and separate great for controlling frizz and just for giving it a nice smooth look, and this is where you can decide how you want to style your hair. I mean for me a lot of times it's the ear tuck or it can be all back but um anyway. I thought you know. You guys asked me a lot. I think it was the pjs and loungewear video where i had this style and i had created a lot of lift at the root and you were saying how do you do that? How do you get so much volume there and all of that and i like to do it without using too much product, because then it's not weighing your hair down and you're not having to wash as frequently i try to go. If i can three, maybe even four days between shampoo - maybe maybe so anyway, once you've got it where you want it, i just kind of grab it and hit it. Pull that down. You can even take you know, depending on your highlights. You can grab a piece and pull that forward if you want to showcase the color a little bit. I like to kind of pull this part back so just spray, it kind of pull it. This can come forward a little pop out. Some volume here make sure you pull it back. One never knows. What'S going on back here, right, just kind of hit it there we go super simple super simpy, it's a super, simple blowout and not a lot of product used, and everything is really good in nourishing. For the hair, so i really hope you've found this to be a helpful tutorial for getting volume at the root and what kind of brushes to use for a blowout and, most importantly, boy. It'S the combination of not only the right product but but really the right blow dryer. I can't speak enough about how important the right blow dryer is. I have been using elchem blow dryers forever. I can't seem to find anything better. I know a lot of you. Love the dyson, it's a personal choice, again high heat high speed to get it done. Secondly, brush technique. You know i've used inexpensive, brushes. I'Ve used expensive brushes. It'S really knowing the right barrel size for your hair. How to smooth! I have problem hair. Everybody thinks that i've got this great, thick hair. I don't. I have fine hair, that's kinky frizzy and reacts horribly to the humidity, so i probably out of necessity, have learned how to work with my hair, which is why i got good technique because i had to. I wasn't blessed with easy hair, so i'm forced to figure out how to make it sleek and smooth, but really it's the right angle in the blow dry. It'S how you pull it forward. I think probably the best video in describing that is how to blow out side swept bangs that i did and i'll provide a link to that as well, because it really enforces that technique of getting a nice flat. Look around the front instead of the bang bump, and so what i'm trying to help you avoid is those little round bumps that that can make us look older than we really are it's about sleek. If you want volume, put your volume right up front at the root and then sleek everything else down so hope this was helpful. You guys have been asking for a hair tutorial for a really long time and i feel, like it's been a really long time since i've obliged. So i'm glad to be able to do that, for you anything else that you're looking forward to in the new year. Please lay it out in the comment section below as we continue to communicate and follow each other on social media. Of course, i'm there all the time during the week. I will definitely try your front volume technique.

Vesna Dragovic: Dominique, I enjoyed you explaining the blow-drying process in detail. I always learn something new. Thank you!

Michelle Lappin: This is terrific. I have the same type of hair - fine, frizzy, thinning. I'm working on a little bit of a longer bob (not the pixie style). Living near the coast in the northeast, it's essential to have techniques for good hair days! Thank you for this!!!

Sandra Ferreira Ramos: Loved your haircut and your video! My hair is still long and I think I’m still not ready to have it short but you gave lots of tips to use in all haircuts!! Thanks you!! Maybe sometime you can give us more tips for us that still are not ready for a big change!!

GregDeb Sitkowski: I LOVE your help on achieving the volume in the front of your hair! I’m going to do this as I just went back to a haircut similar to yours but with longer hair in the front. Also, I just preordered your book! Can’t wait to receive it! Thank you!!

Tea West: I love it! 2 years ago I've learned some technics thanks to you and my hair looks amazing ever since! Wishing you the best on the new year! Thank you

Elena Pizzarello: WOW! Your style and grace never cease to amaze me! I love watching your videos, whether it is new products you're trying or a how-to on blow drying your hair. I have thick hair, but it's course and since it is now processed because of greys and I like to add highlight, the texture has changed. I don't like wearing it "curly" which is my natural hair, but like to have it sleek. It's time for a cut and because of you I have bumped up my next hair appointment. My hair is below my shoulders now but I feel with age it needs to be shorter and also I've learned to like putting products in my hair. It makes all the difference. I am addicted to your videos and also Andreea Ali, a makeup artist based in Paris. If I could bring the two of you together, I would. The both of you are so very calming to listen to, and you also teach and inspire! Thank you! I'm bold and BLESSED!

Fredrica Brown: Thanks so much for this video!! I keep getting the " bubble" on top, was using volumizer as I have shorter hair, but did it without and tried your technique...whoa!!! Done...thanks again!!❤

Christina Eldred Simpson: Hi DS, I do hope you are doing well. I don't get permanent body waves in my hair anymore and so I have begun to blow dry and use the straightener for beachy waves and I love the result - all from your hair tutorials (today's and past tuts). So thank you. My hair fell out due to cancer tx (I am six years since treatment and still in remission, remission accomplished!!!) and I have grown it back in all its grey magnificence. I use the purple shampoo to highlight the light grey which can sometimes be a little yellowish, the same as you do for your blonde. Now that my hair has grown a little longer (just a bit longer than yours) I can muck around with different styles and experiment with curling forward or backward or both. It is fun and not as frustrating as it was when I was younger as I no longer care if it doesn't turn out exactly as I want it to. One of the benefits of getting older is less sweating the small stuff. Anyhow, happy new year to you and your community. Blessings from Australia x

Sandra Duke: I noticed how great your arms look. I know you've done several exercise videos; could you provide one specifically for an arm workout (for those of us starting from scratch)? Thank you!

Jo Lindsey: You and I have the exact type hair. I've watched your tutorials and their great. Another good one, thanks so much. Hope all is blessed.

Aurora Marques: Awesome Dominique, great technique I did it this morning with my long Bob and it works! Thanks so much.

Barb Keeley: Thank you for this video! I have a very similar hairstyle, just a bit longer, but I used your technique and I’m amazed!!

Christine OConnor: Another wonderful video. I am in the 1% receding hair loss with no hope and watching your hair videos gives me lots of ideas for hair styling. I can't wear my hair back or up but I can at least try different front views. I would love to see more on care for hands ( cuticle care and lotions) and feet. Maybe body scrubs in the shower or even dry brushing? Thank you again and Happy New Year!

Conquering Mount Scrapmore with Brenda: Looks so easy and great. Thanks for posting!

MM G: This was so clear and helpful. Thank you! I can start 2022 without the frizz monster!

Anne Nishioka: Absolutely beautiful! Love the hair cut and color! I have the opposite hair than you. My hair is slightly curly and is easy to work with, but flattens as soon as I step out the door no matter what I put on it. I have been using Virtue Hair and Scalp treatment for thinning hair for a week. I shall see over time how my hair is doing. Happy New Year to you and your loved ones!

Lupe Buenrostro: Your video was perfect timing. I have a wedding/new year's party tomorrow and this is very helpful. Thank you for listening to us and always helping us. I have learned so much from you. You are one special lady!! I have your book on order, can't wait to read it. Happy New Year to your and your family!!!!

lynn baity: I have the same hairstyle for the past 6 years I had a medium bob.(I like consistency) but I took a picture of your hair cut to my stylist and cut my hair to a little bit shorter Pixie bob. AND I LOVE IT! Thank you for a new me! (I'm 67) A very Happy, Blessed New Year!

Jill Clark: Great video Dominique! Would you possibly do a follow up on how you style second, or third day hair? What techniques/products you use on those days to keep your hair looking shiny and "fresh". Thanks so much!

TheRockinDaisy: Thank you so much for such a great informational video! You mentioned that you go three sometimes four days between shampooing. I know you also work out regularly. How do you keep you hair clean and fresh after working out and between shampoo days? That's been a challenge for me! I've tried the dry shampoos but haven't had much success with them. Would love to know what you recommend. Thank you!

Jill Jackson: so lovely Dominque. I love watching your hair videos as it always helps me to grow my hair out in the same style. I ordered your book last year and cant wait to read it. Take care and keep positive

Maria M Mejia: Thank you Dominique! I have thick corse hair! Kinky frizzy awful!! I too out of necessity have learn to work with my hair! I am definitely going to try your technique...since sometimes end up with those "bumps" yuck! Thank you for ALL that you do here. God bless and Happy New Year!

Edie Ohoxoxo: This cut is perfection on you! I had very thick, curly hair before the change hit! ugh... Now I've thinned out, lost some curl and it became fine which it never was before. I also decided to stop coloring and let my grey come through. But it's difficult to find a new style and technique after all these years of thick, curly, blessed hair. Thank you for this tutorial. Gonna get to it and try for tonight. God Bless and Happy New Year to you and all in this lovely community. xoxo

Ana Valdesuso: Thank you Dominique for the hair tutorial!! I always love them. I have ordered your book looking forward to reading it!! You are an inspiration to women. Wishing you a happy and safe new year!! By the way your makeup looks fabulous today!!

Andrea C Brown: This was fantastic! I need a fresh hair cut for my 54 age and good products but not too pricey too. Thinning hair and change on texture have made me appear older and it’s frustrating. Again thank you for sharing this informational piece.

Allison Star: Whoohoo, thank you! I have sported a bob ( in various styles and types) for many years, but this is the best advice yet, even better than any hairdresser: I didn't use mousse, as I normally do, but substituted olaplex leave- in conditioner since I don't have the pomade. Your blowout directions worked on my fine hair - amazingly thick results! Wow. Cheers to you also because for the last three weeks, I have been disappointed with a new 'do' that I just couldn't do anything with, despite various products and tools. So, since I am on holiday, I decided to just keep my hair well conditioned and under a hat ( snowy here). Well, you inspired me, so today, voila! I finally like my hair again THANKS Wishing you a Happy New Year

Natalie Gaudin: I found your channel a few months ago and have loved your videos ever since. Thanks for sharing this hair video. I have similar hair and struggle with it falling flat the minute I walk outside. Great tips!

Terri Bhatt: Love the hair tutorials, Dominique! What suggestions do you have for women of our age group who are starting to notice that their hair is thinning? Do you take any specific vitamins or supplements to keep your hair healthy and thick?

Patricia McLaughlin: Oh my gosh - Thank you for showing your technique! I have a bob and now I know what products to use to get that sleek look. Very much appreciated Dominique!.❤

Tamela Bowie Interiors: Love the hair tutorial. Your tutorials are always amazing. Just a quick note…”kinky and frizzy” should not be synonymous with problematic hair. A lot of women have hair texture that is naturally kinky and frizzy and do not see it as a problem. I think as women, we all have hair challenges in and of themselves, but we must be mindful that there are people who have different type of hair textures who see it as perfect and unproblematic. Just sharing in love.

Sheila Leys: Thank you for such a helpful tutorial!! I would also love to see some drugstore makeup tutorials as I love the techniques that you use :)

Jennifer Bryan: I've watched this two times. I have longer hair to my shoulders, a longer bob. I tried this type of blow out this morning, and ABSOLUTELY love the results. It seemed to dry quicker. I didn't have a clip handy so, I just let it sit with the hairspray on it for just a few min, and it really gave me a great lift in the front!! Thanks Dominique!!♥️
