Ever thought about trying a shorter hairstyle, but you didn't want to lose all the length well today, I'm gon na show you how you can rock a long bob, so you got the best of both worlds: hey guys! This is Timmy McCoy here with pompadour brands. I got my client lism and today we're gon na be doing a long bob. Now we cut her hair about four or five months ago, and she actually said that was the best haircut she's ever gotten, which means a lot to me. So what we're gon na do today is recreate that look alright, so we're in go ahead and start by sectioning out the hair, I'm gon na start from the top of the head and go down behind the ear separate that and I'm gon na start on. The back with this haircut same thing, matching with the top behind the ear pushing all this forward. Take my clips just get it out of the way with her hair texture, I'm not gon na take like individual sections and just cut it from like a torso. What I'm gon na do is I'm just going to do two full sections. Now, what we're doing is a dry cut. I prefer to do dry cuts for these kind of looks and hair cuts, as opposed to doing a wet cut, mainly because it's a little more visual. I can get a better idea of how the hair is gon na lay how she would wear it everyday and pretty much. I don't have to go back after it being wet and redo the texture to get a better image. I can already start that. It'S a lot quicker of a process now for this law, it's slightly angled. So what I'm gon na do is I'm gon na create my guideline? I'M actually I like that angle a little bit better than this one. So I take this, bring it up a little bit more perfect, see our have our angle. Now it's gon na dip down about half an inch, so the back we're gon na take off three and a half inches in the front three inches and that's pretty close. What we did the first time, what I'm gon na do with this is: I want to find the middle separate just a little bit and I'm gon na start creating my guide now that there's about about three and a half, so those haircuts just gon na, be Right about the shoulder line, what I want to do is start by creating my god and I won't be point cutting it now you, if you're cutting away you can definitely go straight across, but for this it's mostly gon na be point cutting, because I want to Create those textured ends I want to make this haircut look very lived in. I want to have a bit of texture to it a little bit of edge. I don't want to be blunt or anything so I'm going to take that here's my guide and do the same thing just point cut it and also the great thing about doing a dry haircut is they can constantly go back over it and do any detailing you Need to clip off any pieces that don't need to be there and we're following the angle of the section we did so we're just gon na keep following it until we get to the very edge you can kind of see here since we're cutting a dry. I really see how it's gon na lay. If it was wet, it would be really static. The texture would be different and I wouldn't really get a good idea of how she would wear it everyday. So from here I can kind of go in and start texturizing. The ends a little bit more now we're gon na do some layers with this haircut. What I'm also gon na do internal layers, meaning with the ends and also in the mid section of the hair. Now how I'm gon na do that is I'm gon na? Take a sub section same angle about that big, bring it up and basically just point cut these pieces. I don't want to take too much hair off because I don't want to leave a hole or anything. So you can kind of see it's gon na have a nice triple down effect, they're, really subtle. We can get a good idea of how you curl it and just wear it. Go back over take up any pieces that don't need to be there and it creates like a really nice lightweight haircut. I'M gon na do the same thing. On the other side, I can. I continue to texturize this a little bit more. Take off any pieces that don't need to be there do the little trip with a comb. You flip it up and get off all that underweight. That'S good too, because when she wears her hair straight, it's not gon na pop out stick out! It'S gon na look! Nice and even the same thing like we do the other side, taking this doing some internal layers, taking it out and just point cutting that I'm gon na point this downward making sure that's all even take out any flyways. Besides still a little bit longer. Something do the same thing and I'm always trying to keep this angle in mind. Alright, we're going to take it out and do the exact same thing with the top sections. So we got the top section down. You can kind of see my guy behind the hair. I'M just gon na follow it pretty much. You can hold it down with the comb. If you want to get the hair really straight, you can go at it and freehand it. I'M gon na use up the comb just start following that. Guy right until I get to the middle right there, the same thing I'm just gon na, follow this right to the edge taking out these fly ways, and I want to make sure that it's even when she wears it forward and I'm also back so you can See still a little bit longer right there and it's thick too, so I go in and cut that as well, just really trying to break up that weight. Still a few pieces right here now it's a great thing about dry. Cutting too is you can really just go back over whatever things that you see differently and like oh, I want to fix that. I want to keep it like that. If it's, what you won't really see that until you blow dry and then you can have to redo the process, so it's just much faster and a lot more efficient. If you were to do dry, my next take it a little bit shorter when we get to the front so right now it's looking like it's an inch difference. I can. I want to take that's just half an inch, but it's definitely okay. We can always go back over the detailing change it up a little bit same thing on this side. You can already see there's a good amount of texture. Just at the ends same thing like we did up top still keeping the horizontal sections. I'M gon na take out some weight just at the top, and you see these pieces are falling down. Those are our internal layers, which is a good sign. That means that we have a good amount in there, we're gon na try and match that up now, I'm not gon na cut it to D, because I want these to be very soft and subtle layers. Once we do the next stage of layers, those are gon na be a little sharper. They'Re gon na have more contrast to them. When you curl, the hair, you're gon na be able to see the difference, but if you wear it straight, they're not gon na. Be that noticeable so where it's like how it looks choppy it's gon na have a nice smooth, sleek finish when it's straight and when it's curly or wavy it'll have a good amount of texture. So we're trying to create a versatile look with this and she should be able to wear it in multiple ways and now we're gon na start on the right side. We'Re basically gon na connect. What we finished with a back to the front - and I said I wanted to take it a little bit shorter. Instead of being an inch difference, it's gon na be half an inch really easy fix. All I want to do is just make sure I don't angle it too much. I'M gon na take it with my comb and divert the angle. It'S just a little bit still trying to make it match what the guide until she left check, see if there's any underweight just a little bit right there yeah now, you can see that angle is not as sharp it's a little more soft. It'S exactly what we want with this, so we're gon na take that and just carry it on all the way to the front, and you can kind of see what I mean by like how it kinda hair dry is very visual, I'm just seeing how it lays And any places I need to fix, I can easily do so and I'm just creating a lot of movement and texture with it still have that guy and meeting up to the front it's about three inches right there, that's perfect! You can see that angle and it straightens out just a bit now we're gon na do the same thing on the other side. Okay, so we got the length established and a little bit of texture on the ends. What we're gon na do now is we're going to take some layers up around the top and around the midsection break those up and create some nice contrast in the haircut. So how we're gon na do that is pretty similar to what we did originally with the internal layers. The only thing is we're just going to do vertical sections this time and you could either bring them up if you want or bring them down, but when you bring them up, you have a better idea of where your guide is, and you can kind of see My guide is right there, so I'm going to take off all this length, I'm gon na bring it down, and even it out, I'm gon na angle it just a little bit. You can kind of see it's gon na have a trickle-down effect where the layers are going up about an inch and a half. So I'm gon na repeat that, through the back find my guide off all this length when we do with that afterwards, I'm gon na go back over and texturize it. So it's not blunt or anything just do some deep point cutting and try and break up those lines. So the layers look seamless, effortless and just have a nice kind of body to them. It'S deep one cut this, bring that down and kind of creates a nice texture through here. It might seem like I'm taking off a lot of length, but really it's just wait. She still has a lot of her length here. Okay, now we're gon na start on the other side, we'll do the right side same exact thing, starting off with vertical sections, bring them up finding my guide all right there, I'm just taking that all the way to the front of the head and the closer. I get to the head, the less I'm going to take off just because that part is the longest part of the haircut when it comes to her initial length, so I kind of want to match it up with that. I want to take too much off. You can see, as we get closer to the front, the guy gets shorter. So it's almost no guide at this point, so we're going to go and kind of stir our deep cutting same thing just working our way back all right. We do the same thing on the other side, all right, so we finished the haircut we're gon na be using pompadour professionals, volumizing mists, it's a very lightweight mist that has body and volume. What you want to do is you want to spray it towards the roots and what it's gon na do? Is it's gon na lift them? You can do that by scrunching it up. You can do this to what hair towel dried, hair or dry hair we're gon na drag it through the ends. Just gon na add a little bit of body and volume to it. We'Re gon na go ahead and use a flatiron to add the wave. Now a flatiron is gon na create these really nice effortless waves, a very lived in kind of look we're not gon na curl. It too tight we're just gon na. Do it enough, that's where it has a bit of weight in it, so we're going to start by actually doing horizontal sections and a lot of people always say that you should always curl the hair away from the face, which is true, especially when dealing with top. But for this look we're actually gon na curl towards the face at the lower sections well at the lowest section and then, as we get closer to the top we're gon na switch it up. So we're going to do towards the face away from their face towards the face away from the face and then to finish off away from the face, so we're gon na start towards the face right, straighten it out. First, we're just do a really quick run-through and drag it out. You can kind of see face. It'S nice weight to it once you run your hands through it. It'S really gon na break that up now we're going to do it again towards the face. The bottom section you can do everything away from the face, but I find that over the course of the day the curls or waves will end up falling into just one single curl, all going in the back. So this is kind of to prevent that and still create a textured look. Okay, so then we're gon na take a section above that and do the opposite ring go away from my face strain it out once by the way, I'm curling it is, I'm always holding the Flatiron vertical, I'm taking a quick run through 360 degrees holding this down And pushing through you don't want to stall anywhere, otherwise, they'll create some lines supposed to be nice and easy. Take it full spin grab those ends and drag it through, and then I always like to push these mountains and strain them out a little bit. You can already see all those layers that we did is creating this a nice texture trying to work our way to the top. You can kind of see here actually there's a bit of a line right there. So, in order to get rid of that, you just take it and straighten it out. That'S if you hold it too long or have it kind of an awkward angle. It'S gon na create that buzz, easy fix. Alright, we're gon na work on the other side. Now same concept, keeping it towards the face away from the face towards the face away from the face. All right ring go ahead and start in the back. You got the sides curled now for the back, since her hair is shoulder length, it's gon na be kind of hard to be able to get a nice full curl with the flat iron. You would need like a really small one to fit it through. I don't even know if they make one that small but there's multiple ways you can kind of get around this. Sometimes you can take it and going in the same direction. So this section here would match up with the section in the front, so we would go towards the face. You can do a half curl so quickly, just move it and kind of create a bent in the hair and I'll do that. You can straighten it out. I'Ll kind of pick this nice curl for the most part, this is gon na, be hidden by the layers and everything. So it doesn't really matter that much, but another way you could do. It is straighten this out to get a clean canvas. You can kind of wiggle the Flatiron up and down, so you can take it up down up down and it kind of creates just like this nice loose wave right there so you'd another one. I think for this, look, though, to match it up with these kind of curls, I'm just gon na do a half just like that, see that one right there easily get rid of that and then once we get to the middle section, I'm gon na switch it And go that way now, since the hair is long enough, we're just going to do our full curls like we did in the front the sides all the way to the top. So what I'm doing now is I'm just breaking up the waves. I'M adding a lot of movement through the hair can lean our head back. I can stretch this out. The back can really see all those layers pop now that we did nice and textured good contrast to the front, bring some of these pieces down a little bit perfect all right. So we finished the waves, we're gon na finish the entire look by using a pompadour professional. It'S dry shampoo, we're using it as a texture spray, but it's also good for you know when you're a few days after washing it, and you want to keep it clean, keep that grit. This is a great product to use so pretty much. What I'm doing is just taking it running my hands through it as I spray and just creating a lot of buildup and texture when you're head back to to get some better angles, I'm gon na push it all forward and I'm doing it in little spurts cuz. I don't want to really saturate the hair. I just want to get a good amount of texture in there lightly same thing. On this side, I'm gon na work. Your way can we get it to the roots if you want and we're gon na do with this? Do I take it and piece it how we want again moving my hands through it, getting sections out there and also taking it and scrunching up this to create a little bit of volume that volumizing mist will come in handy when you do that, you can take Some pieces get something messy looks in here. It'S just a very simple lift and look that you can wear any time any day, all right. So we finished the haircut in the style. We ended up doing an angled, lob and added a lot of texture with the layers for the products before we add some wave. If we did the pompadour professional volumizing mist, it had a lot of body to the roots lifted them up and created a nice amount of texture. After we added pompadour professionals dry shampoo, we used it in place of a hair spray, mainly because we wanted to add more texture and use it basically as a texture spray. So I think this came out perfect, so just finished, the haircut Tim did a great job. I thought I liked the haircut he did the first time better, but I think this is the best one yet, so these products smelled really good. It was actually really surprised by that really excited about my new hair hi, thanks for watching the video. Janine Russell: Thank you for this tutorial! My husband cut my hair during quarantine and with your help did a fantastic job. I love it!

alex: Yeesh! I myself gave myself a similar cut yesterday and was satisfied with my first attempt, but wanted to see videos on how to improve it.. but now seeing this I'm impressed with how well I did, even in the back! I hope you've improved in the year that this video has been out.....

Candy Kane: Always important to make sure the cut looks great BEFORE the curl iron. This gal has no options but to curl because the cut is so random and crooked.

Jene Soleil: I see that there's a lot of criticism of this haircut, but I think the stylist created the look he set out to. I am concerned about how the cut looked without styling, since the model has such fine and straight hair to begin with. I feel that its better to give a more blended lob, with a piecey, chunky look that can be created through styling.

Megan V.: Ok. I'm going to be the oddball here and say I absolutely love it. I love the edgy/choppy type hairstyles anyway. Curled or straight... I think it rocks. ‍♀️

Elizabeth: OMG this was the worst haircut and styled hair I have ever seen. This is why I have learned to cut my own hair! I have never botched my hair. I follow tutorials and learned especially from Sam Villa. My hair was ruined this way once and I ran home fixed it myself and NEVER WENT TO A SALON AGAIN! I’ve been doing my own hair for 25 years. My God was this for real?

Kuroyurisan: Before he did the 'layers', I was like "huh! It's not that bad. He doesn't deserve all the negative comments his getting. It's not perfect. But it's not bad either". After he did the layers I went "oh! I get it now".

fantasyqwest: LOVE IT I'm telling my stylist to do this to my hair next time

Gretchen Rininger: I love this cut. I'm going to take this video to my stylist.

Lovedancing Xoxoxoxo: This is the haircut I gave my daughter when she had gum stuck in her hair

C Blackie: I have to agree with Kara, as well I’m not trying to make you feel bad, but love who taught you how to cut hair? I was lucky and Sassoon trained, when I first started watching I was like , shit he’s gonna cut that dry?? I have the same hair. Disaster. Criticism by other hairdressers is how I learned, after a year at Sassoon I trained in a salon for another 3 years. Your young and beautiful, the ladies will love you, if you get some better training. I will say that the way that you are speaking through the haircut is amazing I have a hard time with that myself so you were going to be awesome but I don’t know what town you live in go to the nicest salon if you have a Sassoon nearby go in and tell them that you want to do an apprenticeship . There is a lot to learn, sorry for this comment, it’s only to help you

SkyWorks: This has to be a joke it looks like a kid with safety scissors cut her hair. The only thing hiding the mistakes is the curl but it sucks if she doesn’t have time and just needs to rush out the house.

Chelsea: 6 minutes in and I’m thinking “it’s ok. just the initial cut, he’s going to fix this”. NOPE!

Melisa E: At 23:20 “tim did a great job, I thought I liked the first haircut he did, but this is the best one yet..” ..you didn’t learn the first time

The Nutt House: Girls love a good wash! She’s a trooper

Wendy: Wow this haircut is so uneven new subscriber going to check out some more of his videos

HidefVince: 3:58 "I don't wanna take to much hair off" *Proceeds to amputate every strand in front of the scissors.

Angela Monahan: Ohh! Ok, I get it. By "lived in", he meant for her to look like her previous haircut has grown out and she's overdue for another visit to the salon. Right?

Melisa E: Maybe this is his first time filming a haircut and nerves got the best of him. I dunno. I feel terrible for both of them. I’ve been doing hair for 20 years and have never seen a cut like this outside of Supercuts or school. Just saying.

Bree M Gee: Made me a little nervous at first lol but it came out beautiful!

Jennifer Kimberly: Back Left side was pretty butchered, good thing you could hide it with the other layers of hair.

Joanna 000: good job...just got a lob in August by a new stylist and not too happy w/her taking out a lot of my natural wave w/thinning shears (for texturizing) so I have to curl my hair more than I want to. I'm going to take your tip on switching it up on how I curl my hair (away and towards my face) and also purchase some volumizing lift spray. thx Timmy! :)

Elizabeth Kiessling: I think wet cut for this hair would have been better. Very uneven and choppy though, my goodness,, why??????

ST MARK: a GOOD HAIRCUT looks good BEFORE or WITHOUT styling it. This haircut only looked better AFTER he styled it. All throughout the video, I kept thinking WHERE did he learn HOW to cut??

T. Terez: Practice makes better. Until then, fake it till you make it:)

Mike Sacco: Very creative!!!

Elizabeth Barnes: It would be great to have a great hair stylist actually take a little time on my hair. I been to three places and paid 50$, and the lady's didn't do my hair right. I always had stylist do my hair great but where I live this town lack ethics in the three places I been.

Susan Jäderberg: How would this hair look like If she wanted to be straight? It would look uneven, choppy and maybe even crocked., I think I want versiality so I can have it straight, curly and natural and it should look really good either way.

Lovedancing Xoxoxoxo: Thank you Jesus for this girl with this beautiful face .. she can pull off this crazy cut lol

Miki S.: Me while watching this haircutting part … Me when he said the front pieces you curl towards your face ‍♀️‍♀️‍♀️. The front pieces until you get to your ear you always curl away from your face and the rest after the ear you can alternate. But everything about this is bad.

baharhart: I had to stop watching this video because this guy “DOES NOT” know how to cut hair at all!!! He chopped/butchered her hair up, dude go back to cosmetology school and pay attention this time I seriously don’t know how you passed and got your cosmetology license!!!

Lpg 8: Dude, no.  This does not look good, I was going to keep my comments to myself but it looks like everyone pretty much agrees that you butchered this hair.  This is what happens when I do a ponytail and cut off 2 inches, it ends up like this.

Hannah: This looks like the haircut I got at Great Clips

Dantedevil: Ok so this is what happens to clients hair when you think that you are Kenneth Siu but you really not.

Wendy: Nice curls but end result if she ever tries to wear her hair straight she's going to cry

Wendy: Hairdressers anyone professional on here do you understand why some of us run from salons

Felicien Chanel: I think he did it nicely and styled it out lovely. It was just his way of doing it.

Britta Black: I’m sorry but I had to stop watching after he cut the back guideline, I’ve been doing hair for 15 years and he absolutely butchered her hair!!!! It is so uneven and choppy (in a bad way, the layers are not blended and her hairline is gouged)!! She won’t ever be able to wear it straight and it will always flip out!! I’m speechless! That poor woman

Wendy: Wondering how this dude got the 45 angle cut at the end of class to even pass

Kara Elder: Hey im so sorry to inform you but you definitely butchered this haircut. I have a few tips for you that i hope you dont take the wrong way and learn from. 1) When you point cut, you shouldnt cut so sporadically and so super quick like you are because youre creating so many holes and blunt ends. Your point cutting is on an angle so youre taking out chunks. I understand this look is supposed to be very texturized and lived in but it should not be the literal definition of choppy. 2) Maybe you should take thinner sections or even wet the hair when youre cutting the baseline only, because you totally made it uneven, drastically jagged, and made holes like you said you dont want to do. You can still point cut the baseline when it's wet. But you've got to make very short, small cuts when doing this at the baseline so that youre still creating a straight, even line. Not blunt, but even. And then finish the rest of the cut dry. 3) Make sure to keep checking the length throughout the cut, by taking 1 chunk of hair from both sides of the head opposite from eachother and pulling them together in the middle of the head to check if its even. Also when youre doing an angled cut, you could over-direct the more front sections to the back, combed flat, and cut them straight so that when they fall in the front they'll be longer than the back. You can do this wet too. 4) When youre layering, you should still use sections until youre done with all the layering and then you can go in sporadically to see if the layers are all even and connected. Even using a razor for this cut in particular is a much easier way to go about texturing and avoiding blunt ends.. 5) You should practice on manican heads before ruining someone's hair and making a youtube tutorial on how to cut hair. Also maybe watching some other real hairdressers/hairstylists cut hair in a salon or even on youtube to learn some real good tips, like Sam Villa is one of the best and then you'll find more in related videos along the way. Once again, im sorry, im not trying to be rude or mean, im just hoping you'll take my comment as constructive criticism. Im sure you've learned lots since you put out this video if you're persuing hair cutting, but if not, i hope this helps. Best of luck to ya bud.

GetReadyWithMeMamma: This was supposed to be shattered ends with a play on blunt ends… I think it made sense from that perspective.

Wendy: Can anyone on here find where he can do a 45° angle cut because you have to have that till in order to pass any cosmetology really please help me search for a 45 degree angle cut all over

caren san: I am currently in cosmetology school Lol and I will say point cutting is hard can be tricky at first i see what you were trying to go for but not going to lie the haircut it came out so bad that :/ i hope u work more on point cutting and hopefully u do get better

Leo's Mane INC.: Sections are messy and it is graduated on the left and not in the right. Practice being neater and stay consistent with elevation.

Louise Gilbey: If i worked with this guy in my saloon id pull him aside and teach the lad who to cut hair that is butchered all i want to do is go over his cut and correct it .... sorry son but you need more learning

RealisticBitch50: Something tells me she just went back cause he’s attractive lmao

aileen Diaz: Now I see why her ends looked so thin in the beginning Bc this guy messed up her hair

Maxi: So much graduation in the back.. that is why you don’t just do two sections to cut a bob.. imagine what her hair would look like straightened

Lisa LanceWork: I was watching this and thinking is this just me because to me this looks awful I would be so upset if he did this to my hair but then I read the comments I’m not alone

Lara: Messing up the hair with fingers doesnt hide it pal. İ know we are going for a lived in look and jagged ends with point cut are cool but those ends are a bit too much.

lastagirl67: All you people bashing him, why don't you make your own youtube videos and show everyone what experts you are.

Jessica Heffernan: Loveeeee it!

B. A.: Wtf did you do? Wow . This is why some of us are scared to get professional hair cuts cause Y’all mess up our hair.

Dylan Kirkley: I can see the pain in her eyes

buddy holly: Omg timmy looks 17. Is he old enough? Lol

Maggie May: Great cut

Mister Pompadour: Do you like the tutorials with or without music in the background? Reply to this comment to let us know!

Beachlvr58: First of all it’s the worst texture hair for this haircut. It will never look good unless it’s curled all of the time. The random choppiness created holes where there should not be holes. No haircut should have holes particularly straight fine hair. He could have saved himself a lot of time and effort and just dampen the hair so it stays together while cutting. A nice inverted bob with some surface layering and she could wear it straight. This was so painful to watch.

Tamar Scampini: watching this I learned that if your hairstaylist makes you curlers is because the haircut was bad

Rain Stone: Thanks

Reyna Vazquez: It looks okay when you curl it but you have to consider when she wants to wear her natural hair. You messed up her hair big time dude.

Nadia chet: Wtf is he doing to her hair!!!

dooham: How can he not see that it’s so uneven???

All Lies BStrong: Excellent!

susan baldino: This HAS to be his 1st attempt at a haircut before beauty school……HORRENDOUS!!!!!!!!

ceri llewellyn: Omg the back was hacked/awful

TT: OMYGOD- THIS POOR GIRL... WHO THE HELL GAVE THIS DUDE A LICENCE TO CUT HAIR? HORRIBLE

Brooke Smallwood: If you had her look down then you would have a cleaner cut and not the hairs sticking out underneath and then go through a texturize the ends.

Serendipity: He's a nice guy - but he literally chopped up her hair - and not in a good way. Have you ever combed a barbie dolls long hair, and it has all the mismatched layers and angles, and no matter how much you trim it - it never looks right - now you're getting the picture.

Mirela.M.: Why???? Let it straight to see the "massacre " , with curls anything looks good...sorry , but no
