How to cut Asymmetrical Bob Haircut Tutorial

Graduated bob haircut step by step

*Giving is hold forever*

Hi good morning, everyone, this is sally Rogerson from the sr Academy here in Scottsdale Arizona good morning. Everyone I'd like to introduce this wonderful person over here introduce self Courtney, I'm Courtney from foundation, hair salon and Academy up in Vancouver Island British Columbia. So Courtney is gon na, be here on hand with us today, to you know, help up with questions and all of that good stuff. So we are here in Scottsdale in our new SR education Academy, my name is sally Rogerson, so if you're joining us today, thank you very much for taking the time out. This is my model Stacy, and we are going to be doing an asymmetric graduation with a real, strong fringe. Today, those of you that have worked with me before with sr education will actually recognize Stacy. She is one of our models from our online classroom. Our m4 haircut, she is such a great model to work with because she has such beautiful hair. Obviously, she's, beautiful and super talented and a hair line is really really fabulous, so what I've done is just take a diagonal parting that goes from the front. Definitely true to the mastoid process in the back area, I'm choosing to do diagonal sections or horizontal diagonal sections and what I'm doing is doing a take on a classic graduated Bob, but instead of working off of the center, I'm working off of a side parting instead. So my sections are going to go all the way up, horizontal diagonal, I'm building graduation. So I'm coming down to the previous section to start with and then as I move forward sorry as I move up the head, then I will choose to start to build weight depending on the head shape, the desired look and obviously also you know, the suitability because Suitability is everything so, if you're just joining us, this is Sally Rogerson. I'M here for sr education, which is my hair cutting company. We are also venturing into color as well, so we have colored this model we'll get to that in a moment, because Courtney did a really fabulous job on that. So we'll talk about that a little bit later. If you have any questions, Courtney is on the side. Here and she's ready to take any questions or if you want to give us a shout out that was lovely great okay, who said hello. Is there anybody out there? It says Kim Wawa I've seen you forever. Oh hi, Jon, wonderful, yeah, very cool! Well, hello! Everyone! I really appreciate you taking your time out to join us. If you can't watch the whole thing, then that's totally understandable because you're very busy successful, amazing stylists. So please watch it back on the replay, I'm doing an offset asymmetric graduation. So what I'm doing through here is I've taken more of a diagonal parting. Instead of centralizing, my haircut I'm taking more of an asymmetric approach, and I think that you can do something. That'S very, very classic. For example, something like a bob and then if you just twist it around a little bit or if you just go off of more of an asymmetric parting, you can make something that is very classic. Suddenly, a little bit weird - and I personally like things that are a little bit weird right, so all I've done is just move it around a little bit, I'm developing graduation and there's a lots of different ways to approach graduation. I prefer to always calm down, so you can see I'm over directing the head down. How much I calm down depends on where I want to place the weight, so I'm just gon na come down and build the weight dependent on the head shape. Like we said you know also, what do I want it to look like fashion, hair, texture density, so many things, so you are dropping your elevation, yes towards the name. Okay, I'm bringing the hair down at the moment and bringing it down a couple of sections. So I started off coming down to the previous section and then I started to build a weight line, so her occipital bone is here. My section is now above the occipital bone. So I'm now starting to bring that head down and build more of a heavy weight line. Just because I like it, you could obviously continue to lift up if you prefer right, where's, your conference, darling, what's Mike home, is ah very special. Is our education wires part collaboration? You can get these combs at my shop on sorry Justin calm. So my website is Sally Raj Singh Kham. We are a wife pop retailer, so we do have loads of amazing stuff on there. If you are in the Arizona area, we've just opened our new Academy three weeks ago, we're in Scottsdale, and we do also have a retail space in here. So you can pop in and buy stuff who doesn't want to buy stuff right, and we have a question of someone who just missed the beginning. How do I start the America very good? Let'S just recap for a second, so all I've done is take a I'll show you. I just took a diagonal parting, so I started at the front on this side and I just bisected the head diagonally and finished at the mastoid process. So imagine that you had taken a center parting all the way through, but instead of doing it Center, I just twisted it around and that's become my new center parting great questions. Thank you very much. I'M now working with diagonal sections and I'm building my weight using graduation, and that's really up to you. I think, there's a big kind of question. I notice at the moment it's the new. Do you call it scissors? Do you call it shears? It'S the new version of that right, and so people at the moment are really discussing how to cut graduation, and I think it's a really fascinating topic. Yes, and so this is a really interesting conversation. There are many many ways to cut graduation right, so I can take a vertical section: pull it out from the head, choose my angle and cut it like that. I can also do graduation by building up weight visually and that's what I'm doing here. What this does is it allows me to work with the growth patterns, the springs of the crowd and also the development of the hair, so I can actually visually lay this hair down work with it have a look see if I like it now, I'm doing a Heavyweight line on purpose, because I really like it right now, but I might be going higher. My argument was doing too much vertical. Graduation is what, if you cut an angle in, and it's too high, you kind of stuffed right, there's nowhere to go. It'S right up! The back the head, so for me, I do like to visually build my graduation. Ultimately, if you think about your theory, vertical sections remove weight, horizontal sections build and keep weight. Diagonal sections tend to you know, push the hair in the direction of the section when we're graduating. So you have to think about that in your theory and choose your sections accordingly, so we have a question called we do from Jeremy. What grade are you using very nice question? These are these sounds like fun questions doable. These are RS our education handmade handcrafted scissors from Japan, and they are absolutely amazing. Yeah they're, really all you've got them yeah and they also last a long time because of the high quality right. So if any of you are interested, we just ask you to email us Sally at sorry, Raj Singh Kham. If you are interested in purchasing them, and with this can't be good for medium curly hair great question, this haircut is amazing. On curly hair. Graduation is amazing on curly hair, mainly because graduation has its own pulling. Hair has its own graduation, so you can get some really beautiful shapes, but yes, absolutely so what I'm gon na do now is I'm going to go around in to the other side, and so I've changed my body position, so I'm now stood here and I'm actually Mirroring my section because we're working with asymmetry, I'm now going to take diagonal sections of this side now so they're gon na come through like this, my elevation is going to be decided by my other side. So if you want, if it helps you what I often teach people is to take a strip of hair, if you can see a very small strip of hair and what I do is take a strip of hair through get rid of the first side completely. And what I'm gon na do is clip that hair away and then push that strip of hair from the first side over to my new side, and what that does is keeps everything on track and gives me a balance. Yes, so I'm cutting to a guideline on the new side. Yes, okay! So my new side. My guideline is here, so I took that strip of hair with me from the first side and I'm using it now, if you can see that I'm using it as a guideline now here, because the hair is empty, I'm going to start to change my finger and Develop an angle through there, but I'm working on an asymmetric haircut, so it's going to be shorter on this side and longer on the other. Hygiena haven't seen you for so long right now. I do have quite a lot of things going on, so I would love to come to New Jersey, but it's not on the cards right now, but you know we are hoping to put in some East Coast classes, we're hoping to put in some East Coast classes, But I'm kind of just slammed asked her if she can come to Arizona and come and see us here, yo, yeah, well, Cory's, here doing we have a media, training, class and she's here for two days and we're teaching her how to work to camera. How to edit, so she can start to you know, do her own thing as well, so yeah, that's a really great class. We'Ve had a great two days. Yes, absolutely so! No to New Jersey right now, unless I figure something out yes absolutely before I get to that. I just wanted to mention the reason I'm so crazy busy is that we have just opened a new Academy here in Arizona, we're doing all sorts of different classes from two days to six weeks. Teacher training - and we are gon na also open up as a small cosmetology school as well, but the six week class is really doing fantastic at the moment. So if any of you are assistant, so you feel like you just really want to work on your cutting skills, that's a really fantastic class! That'S why I'm not out on the road quite as much Gina and anybody else, who's looking for classes, because I'm obviously here a little bit now. My teacher training classes are again super popular and that's just amazing how many people out there really want to learn how to teach in a really great way. I think we've all had really great teachers in our lives. Hopefully, and so it's nice to give back it's nice to try and become a real super teacher that can communicate really effectively, so we have a three months teacher training class. This does not mean you're gon na work for me or your or anything like that. It'S just for you to develop your teacher training skills three months and also the 12 months, the 12 months you do not have to kind of live in my cupboard at home, or anything weird like that. You do three three day classes with me and then the rest of the year. You are on monthly coaching calls where you do presentations, etc. We'Ve started our 12 months, one in January and I'm thinking about putting another one in because there's so many people want to do it so might put another one in. If anyone out there is interested, then email me Sally its Al Gore just calm. That was a long answer. I'M sorry yeah, I was cutting here. At the same time, I got bit lost great question. Some magic in the bottle. Is there anything magic in the bottle? No, it's just water. I did actually put in a little bit of the favela. This is my favorite cutting lotion, so the Cabella moisture mist. This is a very organic beautiful line that we carry here in the school and I love it to cut with certs just moisture mists and I do sometimes as well putting like the leaving recovery lotion and I'll show you what that looks like. So that's my leaving recovery lotion. That'S why I use often as leaving conditioner and to cut hair with so classes. Sally Rogerson comm is where we put all of our classes. You can get a flyer as well, so we do have a flyer with all of our stuff arms through there and we can post that to you and it has all the information on the classes etc, but family Rogerson comm is where you will find everything. I just got a do bit. I love all your questions. Thank you all so much. It'S such a pleasure. We hope you're enjoying the pink Valentine's Day. Backdrop as well so where we are at just to give you a catch up, is we have a asymmetric graduation and you can see that the arc of the graduation is off to this side and then it starts to go down into the other side. So the asymmetry is nice. You know on Stacy, so I'm lucky, because she's got a really beautiful head shape, I'm personally really into the stronger graduation at the moment, but you might have taken this graduation up higher. I do believe that there are many many different ways to cut hair and what I mean by that is that you know whether you use a razor whether you scissors, whether you use your teeth, it doesn't matter to me just do it really? Well, I'm not one of these people that says the only way to cut is this. I personally cut more precision based just because of my heritage at Sassoon, but we do also work with a razor as well s our education and we are launching a new razor class at thrive. So thrive is a amazing event to hair event that I'm part of with my partner Lindsay Guzman from lb Academy in Denver. So we have an amazing amazing show on March the 24th 25th and, as I said it's in Seattle in downtown Seattle and it's two days of hands-on and social media training. So these classes morning and afternoon and then on the Sunday evening on March the 24th. We have an evening show Tim Hartley, who is my personal mentor and friend is going to be headlining s. Our education is also going to be doing a show there. It is not to be missed, get your tickets at thrive sessions dot-com or you can go to my website as well to find that in Meishan, but to my haircut I'm now taking almost like a round graduation diagonal section. My finger angle is not mirroring my section angle as you can see, they are opposing each other, and what that does is gives me more weight in there where their heads a little bit finer because of Stacy's amazing bone structure. You know she looks really fabulous with some kind of clean angles, so I'm actually just cutting in an angle that sits just under the cheekbone, and this is always gon na - be a little bit of an undercut and I'll then leave some hair over the top. So that she can show it or not a lot of hair, so I'm trying to cut and answer questions at the same time. So if we're not going to your question, I apologize, but you could always email me afterwards. Oh yes, the moisture mist left left in front of you. Yes, yes, that was the one that is the one. So this is the moisture mist which I use when I'm spraying in and then the other one is the leaving recovery motion as well. So I did put a little bit of that in so I do have that in there. Okay. What I'm doing here is I'm deciding how much of this I want to cut and then how much of it I want to let fall over. So I'm trying to just let the hair fall. You can see. I start to have this area that hasn't been cut in this disconnection, so I'm thinking I'll probably leave some of that out. So as I go through now taking a diagonal section - and I am now going to just clip that down through there and then I'm going to come around to the back and I'll continue my angle of graduation like this and over-direct all of this hair to this Back line that I haven't cut yet thank you as well to Zook her. If you pass me that box there, yes for this amazing, I'm sure you guys have seen this on Instagram, but this amazing neck color. If you can see this just goes around the neck and pretty tremendous, I want to start selling them. If anyone from there is watching, I would really love to stop to have them in the Academy bag. Anyway, let's get back to the haircut yeah. It'S gon na over direct this hair back and I'm going to start to not follow the guideline at the bottom. I'M gon na only follow the guideline at the top, so my guideline is here now I'm going to make a new guideline at the bottom so that I can start to disconnect this piece of hair here, so it connects at the top it disconnects at the bottom. I don't have any people honestly, I'm very, very lucky and thank you so much to zhukova sending me it. I don't know too much about it. I'M sure if you guys look on Instagram you'll be able to purchase it. I have no idea prices or anything, but it's great, so all I'm doing is continuing. This lie. I'M trying to be super loose on my tension, which is hard for me, because I really like to pull the hair super tight. But it's not the right thing to do because I'm in the crap, so I'm just bringing this hair down, as you can see it's starting to get longer through here now and then I'm just bringing all of this hair back until everything runs out very good question: Do I normally do a disconnection on an asymmetric cut? No, not always not at all. I think I do really love using disconnection, but I don't use it all the time. I think if you use it all the time it starts to just become a crux. That'S not the right word is it anyway, you start using it all the time and you shouldn't so sometimes it's good to connect, and sometimes it's a dissonance right. What the hardest thing is on here is balance, and what I mean by balance is what balance means is you know, obviously lengths being the same, but in our situation we don't really want the lens the same. We are trying to balance it, so it looks harmonious in the design if that makes sense. Okay, so I have a triangle left that I haven't cut: I'm going to bring this head down now and start to cut a fringe in here. I also just want to mention. Thank you, a big thank you to Cortney for bleaching out this area, so she lightened this in a triangle yesterday and then we just did a demi on the whole of the rest of the back of the head and then this morning we toned it and we Actually used formula 18 blush right yeah, so I don't know if you guys have been using this at the moment. We are testing things out in the Academy to see what line we want to take and yeah I mean woohoo, beautiful toner. I love it so much. I'M now going to cut a fringe guys again the age-old question: how do you cut a fringe? Do you cut it wet you cut it dry. If I have a new fringe that I'm gon na cut in and what I mean by, that is, if she hasn't had a fringe for a while or there's a lot of hair to cut off, then I'll cut it in wet. So all I'm doing is just seeing where the hair wants to fall where it wants to break. Naturally, then, that's where I'm section in it, so I'm just gon na cut in and get a bit of hair off to start with right. So I'm gon na come through and just work it square through my fingers. I do like graduation in a fringe, I'm gon na bring it into the middle, so it's a little bit longer around the edges and then obviously I'll be doing it more when it's dried. This is just to get some hair off, so I can see what's going on no from the cupboard. That'S where the front honestly, they are just a regular kind of cape again. That I think, is this yeah. This is a separate piece if you guys are looking at this. This is like a neck collar thing I mean I would go out in it. You know I mean it's like it's like a cool night club outfit. I think so. This is a long story but sure the short version, the short version is I'm originally from East Yorkshire in England, and then I moved to London when I was quite young and then I moved to LA. So I was the senior creative director in the LA Sassoon Academy, in Los Angeles, and I was there for 17 years and I recently left about 60 years ago and I moved to Scottsdale Arizona about a year and a half ago. So I am so mixed up. I don't know what's going on, but a lot of people think I'm Australian and I'm like. Have you heard an Australian person? Talk I mean you know I get it so I've got some funny accents yes hard to hard to really get it right for people. I hope that answered your question. Okay, just doing a bit of a fringe here, it's not finished, I'm just getting a bit of hair away, and now you can see. I have a triangle here that has not been cut at all right. So this is the piece of hair that has not been cut. What I'm going to do now is actually go through and do a blow-dry really quickly. If you guys will allow me to and then I'll be doing everything else dry. I want to do all of my outline dry as well, as I said before, Stacy has the most amazing hair line, so it allows me to really create. I think I'll, probably just go through here a little bit using my scissors as a pen, so just come in that head down again. I will refine it when it's dry, but you know I'm just kind of resting my hand. I normally like to anchor when I'm doing an outline, so i anchor with the back of my hand or with my finger or something like that, and I actually rest my scissor on there and then it's this hand that does the work so this hand kind of Pushes that hair around, for example - but you know obviously we all love, doing, outlines and hair lines it's what we live for. We could do this. I could do this for three hours today, but pretty boring for you guys, so I'm gon na just whack it in there as they say, coming through and then just working with Stacy's natural hair line I'll see what the hairline wants to do. I'M not coming in fully here. What'S your most often you size of here great question, if I'm doing men's work, I go up to a six and a half which, for me, is really big. So I do a big scissor if I'm doing scissor over comb ends and then, if I'm doing smaller stuff, then obviously I'm going to go on to a smaller thing, because I need the detail work. So five five-and-a-half, I'm a- gon na. I have no idea if we're gon na texturize it, but I'm definitely gon na, do some finishing work, so I might do some pointing and stuff, but let's just see how it goes so guys, I'm gon na do a really quick blow-dry. I know it's very boring, but so what I'm gon na do is use my wires pot, paddle, brush I'll use that and I'll also use my that's our educational best brush. So this is our own best brush again, you can get it at Sally, Rogers and Comm, and then what I do is a wrap dry. Okay, so I'm gon na wrap the hair side to side when I'm on that fringe, I'm gon na also leave it a little bit. I personally don't always iron everything. I don't really like everything to be like super super super flat. All the time I love to have some texture and some movement in the hair, but on these kind of situations often I will iron it just so that you guys can see what I'm doing and it's obviously a little quicker as well. So I'm gon na go through wrap dry. I'M gon na wrap this hair make sure it's all down nice and flat, so I'll be wrapping. It then I'll be leafing. So leaving is when I leaf through and smooth the roots to the Midlands and then finally I'll be doing my beveling of the ends as well: okay, so totally, okay, too totally okay to leave this head natural as well, but I'm gon na blow dry rock! If you have any questions, Courtney I'll still try and do the thing under the dryer. So my Instagram name is Sully Rogerson at Sully Rogerson. Please don't follow me. We do try and do a lot of stuff on there. We also have a new Instagram as well, which is at s our Academy. Thank you, a Z. Yes guys. You should really think about coming to our event thrive sessions. In Seattle, we have everything there from razor cutting color balayage. We have Nina from fashion squirt there and she's going to be doing in social media. We also have destroy the hairdresser doing business training. We have lb they're doing extensions, so lots of things happening as well. We have a really great set up lots of things to do and see. Oh very good question two out of a hair hero right yeah. Can you guys hear me with the dryers on I'm trying my best to shout yeah? Okay, so my hair here? Oh, I think, there's two different things that happen here. People have a hero and a mentor. You know me like to me a hand. Zero is also like an icon, whereas a mentor is someone that you can actually talk to and reach out to, and you have an interaction with gentleman, so my mentor is Tim Hartley. I met him when I was in this system when I was 17 and he really helped me in my career travel the world with him and Annie Humphries. I was lucky enough to spend a lot of time with him. So he's a little bit my hair hero. My other hand hero is Vidal and again I was lucky enough to have met him, spend a little bit of time with him and had interaction with him before he passed. So in a way, I've been very lucky and work with my heroes and icons and mentors, but you also have a lot of people in the industry that I respect and admire. So that's a different thing. You know sorry guys it was a bit boring yeah. So always best processor, education, paddle, brow shoes, my wires cut. This is amazing. It'S a new brush. I use it for a lot step round. Brushes I used white as part my favorite. I do a lot of natural hair. I do a lot of blow drying with my fingers as well, and I love curly hair textured hair. It'S one of my favorite things so in the SR Education in the SR Academy, which we are in right now, we also have a set up where people can come and shoot. So I can help people through that process. We have photographers. We also have a production company, so people want to come and film stuff here they can so really just trying to make it a very creative hub. We have a lot of salads coming that bring in all of their staff and we're making. You know bespoke tailors classes just for them cut and color. Oh good. Thank you. Thank you for joining us everyone. I appreciate it. We did good over there corny. Does anyone want to know the formula for the back color ask if you want to know the formula yeah good starting here you can tell it you have to shout. Thank you gon na post that up later yeah we could post that as well. In the comments right, I would probably put that in the comments you can so we use for Miller. Eighteen are for the lightener and then we use Weller color touch well. This backfires really beautiful it's a bit like a raspberry kind of tone. It'S a violet Brown. So, whatever you do this type of work, you know and always a little bit raw. I normally cut wet hair to about 80 % and then I finish the rest off when it's dry. If you cut these kind of haircuts to being a hundred percent perfect when it's wet, you are not allowing for the growth patterns, the crowd here, all of the jumps of the hairline etc. So you need a little bit of wiggle room, see when the cuticle with my blow-dryer. You can use a nozzle. If you want to is totally your choice, I'm just sealing the cuticle is a really light. Blow-Dryer. I really love it's from Minerva. They actually do furniture chairs all of that good stuff, they're, really amazing, out of Atlanta, but they've moved in to blow dryers as well. So pretty cool any questions. Sorry Rogerson! That'S where all things happen. We do a lot of life stories and that kind of stuff as well. So that's really cool Stella come in for a second. Let'S just just come in here say hi. This is my wonderful assistant Stella. She also is an amazing makeup artist. So she's done the makeup here, but she's, a really big part of our education team here in Scottsdale Arizona, so just wanted to introduce Stella she's doing a lot of social media. So you reach out to oh and answer questions. You can always message us right. Absolutely cool you blended into the background people pink today. Color! Thank you! Okay! It'S um! Do you want to get the box? It'S actually formulated team. We'Ve never used it before we're just trying stuff out and it's what it was amazing. It was pre light wound with the bleach. What did you use volume wise right? I use 24 24 mm in foil in foil and we also used the bond builder right yeah, so that was really good felt, really good. Oh yeah, the hair is beautiful and then, if you get that box with the blush as well, so this is what we use for the toner and just left it on probably about 20 minutes really just until we liked it. All I'm doing is just ironing it down so that I can finish off my haircut properly when I in something like this, I always iron diagonally from the front to the back, because if you've got up the back, you can't get those short hairs in and then Also, you will find you can sometimes make marks, I don't mind using the clip to set with, if I'm doing some ironing work or something like that, but if I'm cutting, I normally section only with my comb. Those are people that have been in class will know that from me, so so mine sexually with a flip diagonal back and just not, I am in it's a death. You know still with a little bit of movement in there, so I think you've got to be realistic. You know I do cut hair quite quickly. I do try and honor the fact that hairdressers don't have very much time to cut in the summer. Of course, we'd all love to do a three hour haircut. Of course we work that would be wonderful, but it's not the reality of life. So for me you know I can definitely cut hair with the best of them in 30. 45 minutes, if I have to, but I really admire and respect all of those people out there working particularly when they're working by themselves having to do everything right, shampoo, blow-dry retail book, the appointment, it's a lot of stuff. I take my hat off to you. Well, thank you so much and the blow-dryer it was Minerva. Actually thank you Minerva. They are a salon, furniture company so like we got these chairs from manova and they sent me a blow-dryer. How about that? Thank you. So we do have an online classroom. The online classroom at the moment Oni has our 12 women's comprehensive cutting program haircuts on there and our men's. We actually will just wait in to move here, so we could set up a studio and we are definitely planning in the very near future to start adding loads more stuff to there. We just you know, we're just waiting to get set up with our studio when we're here now, so we can act, start doing lots of stuff. If there's anything that you guys want to see them, please let me know, because we are just organizing our shooting calendar. I'M planning on what are we gon na put in there we're gon na add color in they're, gon na add razor cut in as well great question. We do, but unfortunately it'll cost you a little bit more money, although if you're very quick, my husband is flying to London today, if you are going 45, yes by plane to London, so you can pop it in the post. For you, oh my god, I feel like I'm being like interrogated by the thanks. This is, I normally go, go over 200. Do you know what I mean yeah, but sometimes I'll do, but I prefer like a slow smooth out. You know, as I said, don't think I on everything to death. I don't it's just kind of what I do on the line, sometimes to make things go a bit puffed up. It'S father like it like this good, okay, I'm just gon na take my peanut. Normally, I will do the outline work with my scissors on the neck hair, but I don't know what I've done, but I've put something in there and it's a bit kind of sticky. You know it's sticky, so I'm gon na use my trimmer instead and then I'll clean up, obviously still with my scissors, but just gon na take that fluffy neck hair off some people do their outlines with the Clippers. Some people do with the scissor again I've. No, I don't think one is better than the other. I think it's totally up to you some days. I feel like doing it with a clipper some days. I feel like doing it with a trimmer or a pseudo variety is good. I would hate to only know one way to cut hair. You know, I think it's really good to have lots of different weight, all right, let's get to it, so still lots of work to do so. Spacey has a lot of hair, which is beautiful. So what I'm gon na do now is just move this hair around I'm gon na tap the hair and see what naturally falls in front instead of forcing it so I'm gon na just work this hair through and then decide how much of the color I want To show so it's as simple as that, it's as simple as that he's deciding you know what do I want to show color wise and what I don't want to show so I'm gon na come through first of all, and I personally do like to hair through The comb in the fringe, alright, so let that hair drop in now there's a difference between coal minute into coal and letting the hair drop into your comb. So this allows me to cut the hair in its natural fall. It does add a little bit of graduation because I am cutting through the comb. I prefer to have a little bit of graduation in a fringe because it helps it to bevel and sit under. So I don't cut fringes just completely free hand here, because I find that they tend to pop out a little bit go through the comb on purpose. The more I lift, the most soft it'll be, the more I bring it down a heavier it'll, be so that's again, no choice. You can make the soft make it strong. I'M just choosing the angle. I want to cut it out and doing it. Space is going to sleep. We have one of those dreams where you felt like you were falling. You can see he's rusi that high everything, no you doing huh. She says beautiful cut. Oh thank you. Wimzie see you soon. Ruthie has one of my sr education academies up in Petaluma just outside San Francisco. We need to get up there soon to a class. That'S what we need to do. I just bought a new class in in Santa Fe. We'Re gon na do a 2-day men's class. There and also what else we doing we're doing a media training class in June. I think I'd call number inside I'm sorry, oh yeah, Hawaii I'll, be in Hawaii in May. I do a lot of private classes in Hawaii, so if any of you want to do any classes there, just let me know we can add them in you get nervous with scissor over comb. We start it good question. Yes, scissor hate scissor over comb hated it. I think a lot of people do, but the main reason that we hate things, I think, is if we're not feeling a hundred percent on cutting it do not mean like. If we don't feel good about it, then it's scares us. So the aim of the game is anything that scares you. You work really hard at it. Can you practice it so that you don't give in to it? And if you get good at it, then it doesn't scare you anymore so scissor over comb is a practice. Art just like any other haircutting, so you have to just get in there and practice it, and it's amazing how quickly you can become good at it all I'm doing now is going through. You can see I'm putting my comb in dropping that hair through and cleaning up. My outline, I like a bit of graduation in my outline. I could also go back in and go freehand if you look through here. If you look through here, you can also go freehand and just cut it visually. So it's up to you how strong or soft you want it to be so totally you're right. This is when we kind of pull everything together and make decisions right. Okay, so that's we've done a bit of hair there, I'm leaving some stuff over the top, because it's fun and it gives Stacy the ability to open it and close it down. So she can still look a bit bob esque she's, very hairy, I'm so sorry that must be driving you insane. Maybe you forgot a brush Stella. That would be great. Now, I'm going to come through into my graduation, I'm going to start to dust. What dusting means is just to lift and dust and really finish off your hair cut properly, so I'm just gon na lift and dust. You can also point into it as well. People were talking about freehand, nothing wrong with pointing into it as well. I just really enjoy doing it this way. So if someone had wavy hair, should they straighten it? No, not at all. I love wavy hair loss, curly hair. To do this cut um, not necessarily it depends on how the client is gon na wear it. I usually would try and finish it the way that client wears it more often. If they wear it both, then I might blow dry it straight just to finish it and then I know it's gon na be good, both ways you know I mean, but to me it's more about. Do you want a looser finish, or do you want a part of finished? You know I mean so just coming back through into this area lean that way, I'm gon na come back in and just start to put in a bit more of a stronger line through here. So if you guys are just joining us, then this is Sally Rogerson for sr education. We'Ve just done some asymmetric graduation through this area and a really strong Fringe. If you are here from the beginning, thank you guys so much for staying with us. We appreciate it even if you can only watch a little bit, you can always go, have a look again afterwards. If you guys really want to see us in a specific town, then you can always let us know. We do have an amazing group of educators about 20s, our education and they go in and do insulin seminars. They also have different little academies in various different cities in Seattle also Petaluma Denver, and we have two in Seattle and then we are just opening a new one in Charlotte. Is that North Carolina? Yes, that's is that north or south sorry, I am American that my geography is terrible. I was there on Monday, so I should know now. Why is Park? I'Ve moved to a larger tooth comb because I want loose attention for when I'm doing my finishing one we're nearly there folks thank you for staying with us and it's a long haircut. She has the hair of ten men, but I also just don't like pre-cutting too much. I like you guys to see the real haircut you know so, just doing some finishing you can do some pointing if you want to whatever's your thing. You can slice. You know, if any of you do use our SR Education techniques. You will probably recognize how you might recognize Stacy from M for head, but in our online classroom that was a a while ago. Wasn'T it how many years ago was that yeah? That'S when I first left Sassoon right mm-hmm to have looser tension for finished work. Is that preferred to make it softer? I prefer it because it gives me more of the reality of the hairs gon na fall. If I pull the hair too tight, particularly in the crown, then it's gon na spring back away from me and I'm gon na end up like cutting something off that I didn't want to. So it's all about the visual making sure it looks correct visually. Do you not mean yes, the technical should be correct, I'm not ever seen it shouldn't, but it's more about it has to sit correctly over. The ear has to sit correctly over the crown all of that good stuff. So I like loose attention. I know you see people with soaking wet hair, pulling the hair out of the head. Super super tight, but you know to me: I prefer to work with a looser tension, so I can really see how the hair is sitting so sr education. Original ten haircuts are really the backbone of what we do. Stacy. Oh yeah, this Stacy, yes, yeah, uh-huh, so Goff you long bits and everything kind of like in some of those. So I might leave those all right. Let'S get back to this side a lot of people if they do ask me if I do clients anymore, I don't really do proper clients as such, because I my schedule doesn't allow me to be able to you know, look after them properly. Do you not mean, but I do cut a lot of hair? I love cutting peoples, hair and sometimes when people come to class, they do book for a haircut as well. So that's something that people can definitely do, and so how do you work with the worlds for a compass, the world worlds? That'S deep! How do you work at the world the world like a jiminy in the crown and that kind of stuff in the hella? So what I did was I blow dried, the hair down in its flatter state. So that's really what I did and then yeah just visually right. I just make sure that I'm kind of loosening up the tension to allow for the spring. So I agree you should really work with the world's very well and I think if you pull it, really really tight when it's wet and someone has very strong growth patterns, I have a crazy growth pattern, so I know on my hair. I think that you end up getting into trouble so sometimes I'll leave them out. Sometimes I'll cut really strong crowns, for example, I'll wait till after it's dry cut it more freehand. Okay, I'm gon na get finished soon. Our promise books and it's been like three hours. How we do it on time nearly finished, yeah, okay, all right! So here's my longer piece, I'm gon na do through here - is just work with it a little bit more freehand, I kind of like it being a bit looser over the top. So I'm just gon na open up my hands, so it's more of a arc and cut it. You know a little bit more randomly but also slice it if you prefer, but I like this kind of a little bit of a drift II, feel over the top. So she can really show what she's got under there or not Stacy says I could watch you do this all day. Is that your Stacy? No, it's tasty Hunter hi Stacy Hunter, it's all about the Stacy Stacy six! Well, I could do it all day, but I don't think hairbrained would be too happy. I think they want the page back all right, so really how much you cut from this front area is dependent on where the hell is Harry's follow and, like. I said how much of the color you want to show okay, so I'm gon na take this wonderful amazing thing off: it's like a rubber worm or something look at that so cool, and then you can just wipe it down with like alcohol and barbicide and clean It so that's really cool that was from Zuka. Thank you for 10 and do you have clothes on? I didn't check you. Let me just see, hang on a minute, Stella, no Stella. I need a makeup brush. Please, thank you and then I know I'm being very demanding right now, but just need lots of things to get this finished. Okay, so it's that way, let's just kind of put some stuff in and just start to get some texture in there. Oh thank you. Thank you. It was a joint effort, thank Peter Courtney and I did get my hands in the color involved. Well, that I don't call I have. I do love coloring man, I'm just doing a bit styling right now, so I'm season addressing brush. You could probably guess where I got this one from as well. Why is poached a little bit of the wires Punk junkie on I, so I'm going to brush that down and then I'm going to just lift your head back for me Stacy a little bit. I just start to get a little bit of texture on those tenderly pieces, super shiny. We didn't put loads of product here. We just put a little bit of that Cabella in like the hair to move a bit. Can you stand up for me, Suzy? Okay, so just come here for me just town a little bit, so this is my finished look for today. I could do this for another few hours, obviously, but I just wanted to kind of go from beginning to end, for you guys worked with a more asymmetric graduation and then just left these nice trails over the top turn around for me and then just walked into That stronger fringe on this side, she also has that a little bit more area underneath to kind of show up as well. Let'S turn around to the side. Good Stacy will be one of my models at our amazing thrive sessions in Seattle. So you can see her live on stage so hope to see you there. Let'S just get you come through. Please email, us. If you have any questions about anything, that's it great and I just want to say thank you so very much for joining us this morning. Huge thank you to Courtney as well, and I hope you enjoyed it and yeah thanks to my husband, who's, pointing at itself turning and we hope to see you in Scottsdale Arizona, our economy soon. So thank you, hair brained. We appreciate all your support. Bye,
