How To: Seal The Ends Of Your Box Braids | Beautybychick

Hello Beauties, welcome to BeautyByChick!

Today's video shows you how to seal the ends of your box braids. I found this to be easiest and quickest way to achieve the burnt end result that I was seeking and decided to share it with those of you who are interested. Hope this helps. Thanks in advance for watching!

Much love,

Sarah aka Chick ♡

I had to picture this all over my whole head from the scalp. I thought it would look cool and I think it might still have looked kind of cool, but it was very risque for moi. I'Ve never done anything like that before I've never done anything like this before so perhaps I should start slow dip myself in the shallow end and crawl to the deep end, No hi guys welcome back to beauty by chick, I'm Sarah aka chick um. Today. I just wanted to do a quick video on my hair, so I want to show you guys my braids. It'S nothing new, you guys if you've been following my channel for a little bit. You'D know that I love braids. I live in braids and, however, as you can see, I did something a little bit drastic. I did my braids and I do them myself. However, I did this color underneath which I've never used before it's very bold and for some reason I had this crazy idea to do my whole head in that color. Thank God. Something occurred at some point that gave me that opened my eyes and let me know Sarah. You must be crazy to do your entire head that color so um. Luckily I scavenged around my house and found some black, the in fact they're, not even black they're like there's one, that's like a four and the other is like a 33 in colors, burgundy, reddish anyway anyways. So I did finish my hair and then I decided to dip it in hot water. I was busy talking to my husband. While I was dipping it and then I basically fried the ends, yes, which had me contemplating, if I should take them out, but I'm not that crazy right now, not today, I've done it before where I've done. My hair, I took it all out, but today I'm gon na I decided that I was gon na burn the end. So that's what I've done over on this side. If y'all can see it's right, there don't mind the boobage, I'm not trying to put it in camera, but it's there but um yeah. So that's what I've done. I'Ve burnt this side and I did it using a where is it worth to uh it's right here. I did it using this and nearly burnt my hands off anyway, so I did it using this, and this is not a smart idea guys. I do have a lighter, which I purchased not that long ago, but I somehow packed it away in my box because I'm moving in seven days we're going to be moving to our new house and yeah. That'S very exciting. What packing is crazy anyways and I basically would just hold it like this from afar and burn it, but for some reason I figured there must be a better method, and here is one that I found. I have my flat iron. I basically heat it up already and I don't even know this is a Qi. I don't even know if anyone uses these anymore, because this was bomb back in the days when I spent two hundred and twenty-five dollars for it, and now everyone has all these other names that are like, supposedly amazing. So what I do anyways is, I already kind of have them pre-measured see. This is why I had this clip holding it back here, so it just doesn't flop around my face, so you can see they're roughly the same length and I basically grab it grab a whole piece, so grab ahold of the braid measure it up with the longest Piece and then I basically kind of used a flat iron and flattened it like this and then around. So I can um roll it around in my fingers. After so there it is, and then I just roll it it's a little hot. It can get quite hot and voila you've got the sealed ends. Then you just use your scissor and snip it where you want it. Where is it? Where is it and it's right here, and that is it that looks so much better than these ones over here now? The whole reason why I ended up doing this was because, like I said, I ended up burning the ends a little bit too much. This can happen in hot water guys it really can so don't leave it sitting in hot water for a long time. You really only need to dip it for like 15 20 seconds. I think I ended up holding it there and holding it there and holding it. Some more and needless to say, this is the ants, and the thing is when you use lighter braids, all the imperfections show up so much more, and I really didn't want to walk around with it. With this. It just looks wrong, so it looks much neater. This way, all I don't know just has an end, not just looking dry and crusty mmmm voila, a nice sealed and - and I like the look of these sealed ends versus the look of the burnt ends that I had previously. Yes, I know I'm going to see what I can do to kind of solve this. I'M trying to see if I can fix it right and that's what I've been doing and it it's hot. You could really burn your fingers, so this kind of helps it a little bit better. You can't do anything about that now back over here, I'll cut off the one that I just sealed on the other side, and you can see how it's coming along nicely. So I'm probably gon na do the rest, and I'm going to show you the end results when I'm all done, but yeah that's a better method, so this is basically a how to how to not burn yourself how to have to seal the ends of your hair. If you want that burnt effect, I generally don't like these, but it's just a solution for this, because I just slaved over my own head for like eight hours yesterday and why take it out today. I'Ve got a lot of other other things to do such as packing, so I'm just going to do this quick. Hopefully it will all turn out well in the end, I'm loving I'm loving the way it looks so far. Yeah tell me guys tell me what you think and let me know what your thoughts are on the color. I had to picture this all over my whole head from the scalp. I thought it would look cool and I think it might still have looked kind of cool, but it was very risque for more. I'Ve never done anything like that before I've never done anything like this before so perhaps I should start slow. Did myself in the shallow end and crawl? Do the deep end? No, I think I did a very good job. I rushed it once again because it's just an emergency style to get me moving and packing and all that other stuff. And then, when I get to my new house and settle in then I will worried about what to do with my hair. You

Quiana K: I love this idea and I needed this cuz I just did my niece's box braids for back to school and her ends look horrible! I'm going to do this now, you're so clever! Thank you

S 143: THANKYOU SOOOO MUCH!! I hate the lighter way, the ends of my braids always looked terrible! Just did your trick a couple mins ago and it worked!!

Tabitha Jackson: I have been looking for a video to fix these ends for over an hour! I'm so glad to find this!! Thank you so much for posting!!!! Love it!!

Jan P: Have the same problem with the ends of my hair and couldn't figure out why since I kept dipping it in the boiling hot water for so long. Thank you so much for this solution because I hate lighters! Your hair looks fabulous by the way.

Joleen Phillips: Oh you do not know how happy you made me with this!! My 7 year old wanted long box braids for school pics and I want to seal them completely (she plays very rough and often gets hair tangled). The LAST thing I want near this child is an open flame! Thank yoh so much for showing how to do this with a chi iron (I have one)!!

Vinci Allen-Steward: I know you did this in 2015, but the colors definitely work! <3 it. Thank you for doing the tutorial. I think the flat iron trick will work a lot better for me. Just had my hair done yesterday and they are so itchy, so I'm going to try to touch it up. Thanks, again!!

Goldie Leone: Thanks for the idea. I needed a solution to my long braids and found this

Yahaira L. Reyes: I have been looking for a solution, and this looks like a really good one. I have the ends of my brand new braids burned and the damn burned ends keep getting stuck on the other braids pulling out the hairs of the other braids... is a pain and the braids are just 3 days old! Hopefully this flat iron thing works :) Thanks!

Blackgypsy: Hey there thanks a bunch straight up this helped me alot..my braids looked and felt to heavy so I was going to give up and chop them out..but seen this and had 2nd thoughts..cut them shorter and damn I'm loving it..this was so helpful..

dogcakesuk: Yes! I just braided my daughters hair for the first time and the hot water just didn't work and the ends of hers are a light purple so burned ends look really awful and I got alot of burns from the melted plastic thankyou!!

Foxxi Mah: Yasss thanks for showing me a better way.. Bout set my whole dam house on fire messing around with the blow torch. I usually let em be free but I love the sealed look.. U look great and enjoy your color explorations Gna be fun

Imperial Shugar: Well i did it. I braided my hair and sealed my ends with my very small flat iron - omg it worked fantastically, im so excited!!!. i will be braiding my hair more often now❤ thank you so much.

Michelle Stovall: I know this video is pretty old but just came across it :) it is a GREAT idea!! Thx for sharing. I got braids done yesterday for the first time and I had to go back today because she didn’t do them right and even till summer coming out because they weren’t properly sealed I guess she just wrapped some hair around the ends and did the hot water tip but it didn’t hold cause here it is a day later after going back and still some are coming undone so I have to try to fix it myself. Suck cause spent 200 and I was even cool about going back in but now it’s just ridiculous after that I have to look up videos and fix it myself lol

Imperial Shugar: Awesome video im glad i found you i stop braiding my hair because the ends look so bad -i tried everything. Im gonna give it another try, Thanks

Enesa Stewart: So helpful. Thank you!

Jennifer Williams: Thank you! My daughter's ends were looking a hot mess and I dipped in boiling water, lighter, and everything. Now they look great!

Bhronda Pinder: Great idea. Way better end result than the lighter method. And the color looks nice. More of the platinum will look nice too but probably better with dark roots, But who knows, try both.

Freda Efya Lovebirds: Thank you... Was helpful ❤

Missy Lover: The color look ed good on you!And congrats on youre New home! X

NOVA NETWORK: Nothing wrong with you choosing to do your whole head that color, it may look fierce. Like storm but with braids I actually love it, love the look you have now too ✨

Katherine Phillips: Thank you soo much for that idea. I will do that technique when I get home.

Kate Warren: I love the braids And allways have the ugly ends, somethimes with rubbers but still, someone tell me to try a hot glue gun And make a little "bead" on it but i don't want to kill my synthetic hair. I will try your method right in the morning. Thank you for the tip.

Leslie Williams: If you stagger the hair when you install them, you won't have blunt ends.

Kim: Thank you so much!

Deisy Williams: love your video!!!

Tammy S: Girl thanks for the tip

Kyle Armstrong Jr: But can you still take it out from the burned tips?

Belz: Thank you

Lesley Roberts: Looks fab

deja lashawn: i always get color mixed in my braids this time I'm getting neon red

maddy: i’m not black but i’m watching because i’ve always been curious about how it’s done

Marissa Walker: Burning ends may be an unhealthy choice because bad fumes may possibly be released when plastic is burned. Braiding hair is made of modacrylic fibers which is are two types of plastic; vinyl chloride and acrylonitrile. You can look up the material on kaneka.com, kankelon's website.

Drippy Maymay: Thankssssssssss like I hate the lighter way because it takes FOREVER with the flat ironía only took me 20 mins

Live for the Weekends: Hi. Had this done to my daughter hair and the lady used glue at the ends of the hair ? How to I remove the glue so it doesn’t damage her own hair ?

ebonyheart90: what temperature did you put the iron on?

VxNx: i had my braids 3 days ago and they are too damn long (waist lenght) so i want to cut them shorter and ill try the flat iron trickto seal them thank you so much! i hope the braids wont unravel because i want to keep them for a month

Lightning The Tiger: if dipping doesn't work for me today I will be trying this. Thank God I came across this video!! I hate the burnt ends look.

Natalie Gamble: I think the ends look fine after you dipped them i dont see any over dipping on your ends and personally i dont like the butned ends look

sights&&: Nice braids beautiful GOD Bless

one: What kind of braiding hair would you recommend?

Nico: I like the boobage honestly thank you... tryina secure my cornrows without elastics any advice chica ?

DeeC Kelley: greeaaaat idea!

Carrol Lindsay: How do I seal short braids that are ear length will the hair sealer work do you think? I have heard a curling tool will work.

Jackee F: does burning synthetic box braids make them smell?

Genia Dean: next time u do them and u want to dip the ends u should stagger the hair a bit before u braid each braid... the end will taper and it will look great when u dip!

Candypie Travels: the color.you pick is pretty

Alivia Leary: I still have that flat iron exactly

xkcash _23: I have short men’s box braids so my entire 8 inch box braid IS the end of ur box braid so it’s like impossible for it to look right

MAA1176: I personally hate that when braiding hair we leave out the ends..back in the day they alway burned the ends..why did it.stop?

Breyana McGee: Oooooo gonna try this

Melisa Mengi: What was the tempature , does 220 is enough?

Ashana Joppy: Genius

Taylor Lauren: Girl you are a godsend

The A Life: i will try got braids but dip in water doesn't work at all lol Sadly so i will see and get back with you

Jasmine G: Are you English or American I can’t tell? Also, I love the hair.

chlo chlo: so the hot water thing? you just braid until the ends, let go and dip in hot water and that’s supposed to seal them? I don’t buy it. I’m using my natural hair as well;) usually people use rubber bands to tie off the ends of the braids but what do you use or what do stylists use? does some kind of product hold the braids in at the ends??

Manamrit Kaur: I’m actually talking about real hair

Pripyat.sadboi☢️: Dont mind the

Prince Amu: Damn she’s mad cute

Mickey_sav05: guys will this look good on a white person?
