( upbeat music, ) Hi guys. My name is Tiffany Reid.. I am the fashion director here. At Bustle. Digital Group. - Today, I'm here with celebrity hairstylist, Cynthia. Hi, Cynthia, Hey girl. How are you Today? We are doing an interesting experiment where she's teaching me how to box braid my hair, because I'm in the house during quarantine, as you can see, I don't know what to do and she's gon na guide me through it.. Are you ready to do this No. ( laughs, ), But I'm here already so I have to. Here's a couple things that you'll need at home., You're gon na need your leave-in conditioner or a dry oil., Some clips., A pair of scissors. And a rat-tail comb. You're. Also going to need edge, control or jam if you have some., They both work. The same. First you're gon na part, your hair., You got ta, do like one horizontal part across your head., We're adding clips. So that way, your parts are really clean.. Then you're gon na do subsections. ( upbeat music ). Then you wan na separate any extra hair by either braiding it away or adding clips. You can let this hair down. And for each of those subsections, you're gon na apply edge control along the part.. So I like to place on the back of my hand, just so that I always have access to it. Then apply to the underside.. Now separate the braiding hair into four or five equal parts.. You can lay them across your lap across the bed wherever it's easy access for you, while you're braiding., ( upbeat music, ), Section off one inch from your part. ( upbeat, music, ) Perfect. Next step, you're gon na apply your leave-in conditioner.. This is just gon na ensure that your hair retains moisture, while it's braided for the four to six weeks., Now you're gon na begin braiding., So now we're starting with our first three sections., But then on the second rotation. That'S when you're gon na start feeding in the braiding hair. You put in the loop. ( upbeat music, ), Now you're placing it right between your pointer finger and your thumb. Keeping your tension. You'Re gon na continue braiding. (, upbeat music. ), Then add the next one.. For every rotation you wanna add in a bit of braiding hair., Now you're gon na do that for about four to five rotations. Now they're, all gon na have some braiding hair in them., Then you're, just gon na continue braiding down to the ends. And move on To your next section. (, upbeat, music, ), You're gon na continue this method all the way until you've completed your look. ( upbeat, music, ). This helps to lock in and seal the braid.. This is like legit, my tea kettle: so. (, laughs, ), [, Cynthia ], And if you see there are any like shorter strands sticking out from the braid, take your scissors and cut them. After you do that, then you would take a liberal amount of your styling Mousse. Apply it to all the different parts of the braids. ( upbeat music, ) Cynthia. Can you believe that I finished this.? They look great Tiff, I'm really really proud of you.. For your first time. You really did an amazing job.. Thank you. I can't believe I did it. Again. I appreciate your help, I'm very happy with the way it came. Out.. Yes,

Rosie G1: Looks nice well done, the back is a bit tricky to do on your own though, your arms kill after a while!

C. Samson: You all saw HER hair right? She clearly understands some things about hair. Plus, she is the Fashion Director of Bustle, that's not nothing. She wasn't gonna come back done and looking beat! Anyway, what girl with hair like this gets past the age of - like, 10 years old without knowing at least HOW to braid. I don't recall her stating that she had no prior knowledge of how fingers worked! [*Fumble noises* "what now... with my thumb"? Or What to do with Combs?: "Like with Puffy?" Or, on products, "Ohh, ok, so you put the con-dition-er IN the hair... OK, yeah... see, I knew I was doing something wrong". Nope, neither of those. :-) ] I personally think she was alone, 100% over quarantining and got caught up in watching Poetic Justice! "...if they like it they like it, if they don't, they don't". No truer words that those right there. I liked your video, It was fast-paced, helped with knowing placement of each finger too. GIving off some serious Regina King vibes on this. Thanks for sharing!
