Now I’m not a professional nor did I know how to do this....lol because I didn’t but I tried and this was the result. I wasn’t going to post this but then I figured there is someone out there struggling with this hairstyle just like I am So we can struggle together until we get a resolution. Thank you guys for watch and I would definitely recommend this hair. It’s super lightweight, affordable, and the locs are so beautiful and natural.

Hey guys welcome back today's video is brought to you by janet collection, i'm teaming up with them just to review their new crochet butterfly locks. I will be reviewing their 24 inch, so, let's just get right into it. Now um. I went ahead and parted my hair off camera because i feel like that was just you know the thing to do, and this is the hair so, like i said it's denali tress crochet butterfly locks in a 24 inch 1b. I was super excited you guys to try this because i've been wanting butterfly locks forever, but i just didn't have the time and patience to do this so when i saw it it was a quick and easy. No wrapping all that good stuff. I was super excited, so i'm just showing you guys what the pieces look like in the individually as you guys can see. I already practically did my whole head already now. When it comes to this technique, you guys my technique. I had no idea what i was doing to be honest with you. This was the first time i ever in my whole entire existence using a crochet needle crocheting braids in my hair. I was new to this. I was just actually literally just going with the flow so right here you guys. I was actually just following a stepped on youtube that i saw where you you could actually pull your braid through the crochet um braid, and i tried that a couple times and that did not work. So i'm just trying to show you the technique far as this technique. For me, one, the um, janet um, the box, i'm sorry the butterfly lock was actually too skinny. It was too skinny for me to actually pull my actual braid through um some of the parts. I i didn't want really tiny, tiny braids now, if the braids are going to be tiny, then your braid will fit through, but my braid was not fitting through. Maybe it was something i was doing wrong like i said this is the first time i done this. So it was just a mess but anyways. Let me show you. Let me tell you exactly what i'm doing so like that loop, i'm just pulling the braid through just so um. It can be actually connected to my hair. So i'm struggling a bit because, like i said it was a little bit tough trying to pull this together being that this was the first time so now that the lock is secured with my hair. This is the part where i try to go in and pull my braid through, but some of them, i'm gon na, be honest, some of them work and then some of them didn't. So i guess it depends on how big your braid is, how small your braid is, then you know and it'll probably work, but it just didn't really work for me. But this is the technique i saw. So if you want to do this, and you want to try it - maybe a little bit easier for you go ahead and do it so i'm putting the crochet needle through the actual lock just like this and i'm going to pull my braid through it. Like. I said i saw this technique somewhere on youtube and it seemed easy, but it's really not so, as you can see as i'm pulling it my braid kind of dissolves a little bit into the lock. So i was like okay, i'm just going to keep on going and the reason why i did it this way. I could have just cornrowed my hair to the back, but i am not a really big fan of crochet braids like that. For some reason, i've tried those a long time ago and i did not like it like it. I like it to have the actual parts in it. So that's why i did this, but it was not working in my braid, my actual hair kept on braiding. I was like what the heck like this was a disaster. I wanted to cry so bad. You guys i was struggling so bad. So i'm just like good luck with this. I don't even really have no like it was just frustrating. I'M, like literally, was about to cry, but i kind of figured out how to do it and, like i said, as you can see like it's, this just technique was just not it for me um. I know a lot. A lot of locks come thicker than this. So if your lock is thicker than this, then you could have true success and succeed at this hairstyle. But mines wasn't doing that and, like i said this was just a total disaster. So after i was having the fight of my life with this braid, i finally got my hair through it and what i like about the the braid. It always come. It already comes distressed, so you don't have to like distress it yourself. So that's what i liked about it now. This is the part that i just really had a light bulb moment because i was just so freaking pissed. You know because this was not coming out right, but what i decided and i went back and i watched a video by her name - is jasmine, define she is a lifesaver. She saved my life from this very moment and i would cannot thank her enough. So what i should have done was if i still wanted the parts i should have braided had my braids, my plaits, like i had it and braided and connected all the braids. Aha, that was my light bulb moment. I was like why didn't i think of that before, so what you guys can do is you guys can definitely do that and um it'll be way easier, so yeah, and this is how long they are, and this is the final look. So, let's get more into the details, okay, guys! So all right! So let's just talk about the hair, um, okay, the pros and cons. Let'S start with the pros, i actually really love my hair. I did not think i was going to, but actually really like it. I'M very fickle when it comes to braids and goddess locks and all that kind of faux locs, i'm very picky. So i was a little concerned that i was not going to like the hair. I really do like my hair. I like the fact that it's already distressed, so it's just less work um and it's super lightweight, but i think the more of course, the more hair you add, the heavier it's going to be and my scalp is very sensitive. Sometimes i get really bad headaches, even though i have hear a lot of girls say that oh, it's lightweight, it's very lightweight, but with a lot on my head, which i do have a lot um. It gives me headache by so i don't know how long these will last probably i'll give them a couple days, but that's just me um what else. So i would definitely recommend. Okay, the cons a little bit. It was not necessarily cons, but i was thinking it was more so on me because, like i said this is my first time doing this. I struggled so bad. You guys and i'm just being super honest with the crochet and all of this, like honestly like when you saw me in the beginning. I didn't know what the heck i was doing. I was trying to actually crochet my actual braid through the hair, because i seen that in the youtube video and i wanted natural parts um, sometimes when last time i had these something similar to these. I french braided, my hair and i crocheted it in that way, which is way easier. I'M gon na be honest, but i did not like it. I, like my braids, like i said, i'm really picky. I did not like it that you couldn't see any parts like you couldn't see. Parts like you can't really see these parts, but, like i didn't like the fact that you couldn't see parts in the hair. So that's why i was like okay, i watched a whole bunch of videos and i was like okay, i'm gon na do um. Do it, you know with the put the braid through it, and then it was just a disaster like i said, there's nothing against the hair, but the lock was too skinny, and it's just like my braid, where not braids were not fitting through, especially i didn't want Them too small, so some of them did work, but some of them didn't. I think, that's where you saw - and i know it's a bit confusing and i might get some thumbs down on this video, but it's all good. It was a bit confusing because i was doing putting some of the braids through it, and then i was french braiding it. So this is what i highly recommend you guys. I highly recommend that you actually part it like how i had it parted and then connect your braids when i finally realized that i was almost done. So that's why you see me at the top of my head, like you guys, i wanted to cry so bad, but, like you can see at the top of my head, i started connecting the braids together and i just wish. I knew that sooner. It really made a difference and i wasn't struggling anymore so and it still kept the parts that i needed so fyi next time. I do that. I'M just going to do that because i would, i think it would have saved me so much more time and i would have got it right. I wouldn't have been sitting there crying like. I was like i'm about to cry because this looks a mess. It looks fast but anyways. I hope i didn't confuse you guys too much. That'S why i wanted you guys to watch until the end, so you can get my honest review about the hair um about faux locs in general. These things get stuck baby, they get stuck. I don't even think they're really meant to last that long. So you know you do you and how you want to do it and yeah. That'S pretty much it for this video. I hope you guys enjoyed. I hope it wasn't too confusing, because, as i was this probably is this video is probably confused as i was but um. Thank you guys for watching, and god bless you and thank you for tuning in

Jessica: I love how transparent you were throughout the video. Doing your own hair can be rewarding but no-one ever talks about how annoying & frustrating it can get.

Jas G: Love seeing the actual struggle of doing it. That is how it is for real. I agree that doing the partings and braiding it together is definitely easier and time consuming, I will be doing the same. I will do boxes in the front and straight briads in the back bc I dont got the time lol lol. I think it came out very well though.

Vivien Vincent: You made it look so easy!! I’ve always struggled with my natural hair, but I’ve been really trying these past two years and you made me SO EXCITED TO TRY THIS MYSELF ☺️☺️☺️ thank you!

Beauty Bar Lounge & Nails: THIS WAS AMAZING MAMAS! THANK YOU FOR AN ABSOLUTELY STRAIGHTFORWARD AND SIMPLE VIDEO AFTER SHARING YOUR STRUGGLES.

heismylight21: You look beautiful and you did a great job!! Appreciate you being real and sharing your experience with trying this style❤️

Kindrea Jackson: I literally just went through the same struggle last night with this butterfly locs hair brand from Janet collection! I think the loops drove me crazy & the locs were not adjustable at all but like strong women we push to see it through-you did amazing & thanks for sharing ❤️

Krystal Briscoe: I truly appreciate a video that shows what went wrong. Cause I too have cried trying to follow a video and my hair didn’t turn out right. A lot the videos it always comes out perfect and that ain’t realistic.

Vibin’ With Jadah: These are beautiful! I think the reason that your braid wasn’t going through is because the hook on the crochet needle was a larger one than normal. You can purchase needles with a smaller hook. I hope this helps!❤️

Leesa Leesoca: Oh my god you saved my life!!! i was literally crying going through the same thing and then i found your video and oh my god god my hair turned out sooo well. The compliments haven’t stopped. Thank you!!!

Rosita Marianela: “I was soooo frigggin pissedd” lol!!! That part sent me but you did a BEAUTIFUL job ❤️

Ebony Sisson: “I wanted to cry so bad” me every time I do my hair you’re not alone sis

Jayda Rei: I loveee this look on you and you did a great job despite the challenges

S B: You did such a beautiful job & you look amazing one thing that helped me with this style is after looping the loc into my hair, I would unravel it a bit (from the top) & the re-wrap it around my braid. Hope that helps!

Samantha Stewart: It’s actually easier crochet that piece of the braid when it’s unraveled like that! Once I realized that, it was so much easier getting through these than have to rebraid the end everytime

Dez: I haven’t tried the butterfly lol yet I’ve been rocking the goddess bohemian style with the Nikki locs but looking at it on you makes me wanna go for it. Also I wear 30inches locs and it’s DEFINITELY heavy. Like my neck gets a work out lol thanks for sharing

Sheree Tolliver: You are so amazing and this is a great idea and your hair stays protected and will grow my opinion ❤️

ChaYah Yahqub: It's so beautiful seeing all the and support in these comments !!The hairstyle came out SO GORGEOUS on you

Monica T’Mura: The eye makeup Also I kinda did the crochet method for knotless box braids. It came out really good. But now I wanted to try butterfly locs, and I’m scared

laticia mayfield: Yes I felt the same way doin it the other way I took it down and just did a simple twist. That was still time consuming. Yours look great glad you did it.

mrsjuicy232: You did great, they are gorgeous! I use to locs sticking so I'm not worried about that...how did yours hold up? Everyone saying something different, I've had more ppl mention that they last but have to rewrap one or two after like a month.

osofab87: I commend & appreciate you for trying & recording it. Practice makes perfect. Keep going! You're AWESOME!!!

Christian Mommy Billionaires: New subbie alert is the "God bless you" for me ❤️ thank you for keeping it real about these locks I ordered some without thinking it through. I ordered the 12 inch and my hair is a little bit longer and it's very thick so I'm trying to figure out how I'm going to install them now or if I'm going to send them back. I'm the same as you because I'm super picky I wasn't sure if I was going to like the invisible part method but it seems like if you do then I probably will since you are picky too LOL

Rae R: I appreciate your candor! I definitely will pass on this style, I need them to last

Tiffany Thomas: I love it how many packs of the crochet locs did you use?

Shannon M.: Your video is real and I can appreciate that. It helps us see it as it really is. Thank you!

Ne-Will: Thank you for sharing your honesty. I look at your texture hair and it is similar to mine. So now I know what to expect because I’m about to try these on myself.

Jasmine Smith: You did a good job and it looks beautiful. I think anyone who’s done these (me) it’s challenging.

Terry Hall: You did an amazing job

frankelijah1: Just watched your "next" video and Girrllllll, I wish I would have caught you before you put all those individual box braids in. That takes forever! The Cornrows in the back is the way to go! Which you realized! We learn by our own mistakes. It looks Beautiful.

Sahgee: If you ever use this hair again, try to unravel the top loop before installing because it is too small otherwise

Queen Nyajuok: Omg sis I feel you this hair was a struggle lol I almost crude too!

The Beauty Mentality: Beautiful

Nina Starr: Thank youuuuu!!! saved me some stress

Miss D: I just went through this same struggle yesterday. My own hair is 24 inches and I was using a faux loc that I thought (based on a YouTube video) I could hide my hair in the loc. After six hours I gave up...hair is in a bun wish i would have seen your video before I started.

ThisLoverOfGod: How long does this last? So beautiful ❤️

Ese77 Ajala: Girl the hair looks stunning on you!!

Kelly H: You are truly gorgeous ❤️ love the hair by the way...

consuela covington: Gorgeous.....I love it!

Clarellen: Looks beautiful. :)

Renee Epperson: Thank you, your detail with the pros and cons are amazing!! I have red hair but my roots are natural again like 2 inches of natural black root. Do you think my red part of my hair will be hidden with the loc as I put them on and do the braid back idea you discovered toward the end of your video

*smiley face*: results look great!!

Lakenya Williams: Love the hair! How many bags did you end up using ? Also, do you remember the pricing for a single bag

MOJOJOJO: Love your makeup color combo

KimyKW: Thank you for your realness!!!

Tish Sharay: Girl I don’t even use the hook I use a comb it gets the job done same way lol❤️

Nicole Marie: It wasn’t you sis! Its hard pulling them shits through. So frustrating!!! You prevailed!!! Beautiful!!!

kelezie: I feel you. Your sighs - so real LOL - I’ve done locs so many times but when you try something new and it’s just trying to defeat you Argh! But it came out beautifully

nikki dee: Sssooo Beautiful.. i got my done and after week my hair started coming out the middle of the loc. And the root started sliding and the braid showed.. And the scalp itch and burn was real.. and the sticking together was a mess. But i loved the look though.. i wonder if we put moose on them after they were done would that stop the sticky together?

Crystal: The loops on the Janet butterfly locs are way too small and that’s a huge con. I’m here doing mine and I came on YouTube to see if anyone else thought the same. You did a great job with yours. They’re gorgeous.

Donita Marie: Views Hey girl thinking of a vacation hair style thanks for sharing!

Olivia Jae: Your hair came out really pretty and I love the nail color. If you dont mind what color is that?

Maria Cotton: Just across your video. I totally related to the almost cried part because as a self a doer I get it can be this way sometimes

Vee Latay: I just got mine today and they are a lot skinnier than I expected. I'll have to connected the box braids.

DESIRE: Looks good but Chile the time it takes to do one loc I think I’ll pass on trying to do this myself

lidia loren: WOW girlllove it

T Rivers: They look nice. I just wonder how you take the individually crocheted locs out?

Keeping it real with Giinger: Came out bomb tho

H.: How long do these last?

Glitzz Brattie: My hair is long, and thick. I have to buy long locks... The process of wrapping them takes forever. Tho sometimes I don't mind

La Negeda: This look lovely .. how many packs did you use?

Wealth Adogho: So beautiful! How many locs do you have in??

nikki: Can we add Extensions to our hair for the box braid 0:00

Donna Hearne: I wish this was the first video I saw…my first time…same thoughts…almost cried…but I finished.

Life as Tae: How many packs did u use?

PrettyPearPricess: How many parts did you do?

Alexis S: Your real hair is gorgeous!

LALA Ross: How many braids did you have platted?

TheCeCe Show: I feel like this is a struggle doing this . When you could just get some twist hair and wrap it after you put the crochet in

BriaDiaries:

laticia mayfield: Black girl problems lol we cry while doin our hair. So frustrating

asia curry: how many packs were used?

A. Solomon DeLandro: I have this hair 18” 27. And I have packs I’ll never use because the crochet hole is too small for the rest of the hair to loop through when I went to tie it. And I crochet my hair and my daughters hair on a regular basis. This hair has been my worst experience.

Nattakay Rhoomes: Hey, How many did you part your hair in pls ?

cooking with angel monique: Hey hun how many packs did you use

Ayanna Jenkins: have to push the needle up thru the opening of the knot u made with the crochet hair then pull ur braid through the hole inside the loc

Taylor Jenkins: How many packs did you use?

Adayah Okung: how many packs did you use

Swissapynk: And u show did a good job

Kai Ford: Can you pleaseee tell me the liner and lipstick you used in this video?

KEISHA FARRELL: Why wanted to cry and it came out so sweet Jalesse?

ForeverBrookee: I loved this hair but it definitely frustrated me. The loops were either too small and I couldn’t bring the end through or it got stuck(wouldn’t go all the way to my scalp) and I would have to cut the loc and start over. You did a great job. I like the hair but I don’t think I’d buy again. I too prefer the individual method for my crochet and probably wouldn’t buy again

Raeshelle Delvalle: Yeah I didn't like the pull through method either. I was hoping these butterfly locs unraveled like the other crochet locs.

Sunny Bunnyy: What did you do once it was connected
