► Hair Color:

This a custom color job, created by a stylist at a salon, using a professional system not available in beauty supply stores and which requires a valid cosmetology license to purchase--no I do not know the name. It cannot be recreated precisely and the shade looks different on me every time she touches it up since she blends it up on the spot and it changes shades every time I wash my hair.

Bleach was not used. We have been lifting my hair lighter and lighter over time using developer (which is not bleach) since October of 2015. I will not post a video on how to color because I am not a licensed cosmetologist and I will not give directions on how to use chemicals that I do not have a good understanding of. If you'd like help with achieving this color, please consult a LICENSED professional who specializes in natural hair because coloring will alter your hair and can damage depending on your texture and the process.

Hey y'all, so i know i look rough right now, but i wanted to tell you guys about my experience with knotless braids versus traditional box braids um before i went and took these out. Um i've had these in since june june 23rd. It is now on july 24th, so i've had these in for a month now and this time for them to come out. So let me tell you guys my experience with knotless. I know everybody loves them, but let me tell you guys my experience. First and foremost, let me show you what these things look like a full month afterwards, um y'all can see. I got mad mad neuro a little bit of flakes too, but i got mad new girl but um the braids themselves still look really good, because my braider is the bomb.com. However, my roots um - i don't like them, so i'm gon na give you guys the pros and cons about getting the knotless braids. So what everybody really really likes is the fact that there is little to no tension with these, like they do not feel heavy um. As soon as you walk out of the salon, you can go ahead and slap them in a bun. It doesn't hurt going in they don't again. It just feels like super lightweight, there's no tension and that's what gravitates everybody towards the knotless braids and how they're installed is that the braider actually starts by braiding your roots, then feeding in the braids, whereas traditionally the braiders go through it and they start the braiding Hair with a piece of your actual hair and they start from the root just going all the way down, but these they start off the braid with your root and then they go through and feed in the braiding hair. So that's why somehow? You think that would pull more, but somehow that's how um they feel so lightweight and they don't hurt at all so yeah pro and what really wins everybody over is the fact that they are virtually painless like even the next day. It was like, very, very minimal. Anything that i felt um on my hair, so another thing that i really liked about these are the part, i'm pretty sure i can achieve the same parts with the as far as box shape. I know i can with traditional box braids, but i just really liked how organic the parts look it just gave me like a nice. Like i don't know like the organic look um, i can't explain it any other way, i'll post pictures. Of course you guys can see, but it was just like a nice organic look, it just swept my edges swept into it. Well, like it just looked, really really pretty and organic and bohemian. I don't know it just looked really really. It was very pretty. I really enjoyed these the first two weeks but uh the down to that is that i guess um, because my hair grows out quick and my roots get so puffy with braids and any kind of protective style that i didn't like them after two weeks, because my Roots just look like, so you really can't even see my parts it looks like i have just like a fro. Looks like i've. Had these in what i would imagine two months and when i normally get traditional um box braids, i can keep them in for a whole month and you can still see my scalp but y'all like you can't even like acts like part, and it just looks. I don't know it's just really like a lot of hair, it's just a lot of like unbraided hair at the roots for it to only have been in for a month. So one of the pros for traditional braids is that they last a lot longer on my hair, and i know that it's going to vary from person to person - i'm not here to debate about it. This is my experience. If you had, your knot was braised in for three years girl, but two weeks afterwards, my roots were really frizzy and i've been going to the same braider for years um and she told me she said that it just depends on the client's, hair and their texture. She said she had a client that had them in for almost two months and they look great. It stayed in the actual hair very well. My hair is like very soft and, like my hair, just i don't know my hair slips out of stuff. So i just don't like how like frizzy my roots are so as far as traditional box braids, that's what i really enjoy. I honestly i don't mind the knots i normally get my box braids, medium or small, so you can't really see the knot um. Just what i really enjoyed with the knotless braids was just like that how organic it flowed. I will also say, with my traditional braids: it's way less maintenance. So with these i had to go through these last two weeks and make sure i put like some mousse. I have a whole maintenance routine on how i maintain my box ways and i'll link that in this video um, if i forget you guys, can type in de la soul, box braids and it will give you uh it'll, come right up how i maintain my box Words, i think i have a video on how prep form and all that, if you type in they lost protective styles or they lost box braids um videos will come up on how i maintain, but i had to do my maintenance, routine weekly after the second week. We'Re starting on the second week, so i did it the second week the third week and i did it this week, went through and did my whole routine put my phone on and tied it down. So we get like it was like frizzy y'all. So just not the actual braids itself, but my roots were so frizzy, so i went and put some loose on it to kind of calm it down. I had to do that three times with my normal box, very routine uh. Oh no can't talk with my traditional box braids. I only have to do that one time and that's right before the end, when it's time for the things to come out and i'm really pushing it so um yeah, i will say that with traditional boxers, it was way less maintenance. This was like slap on a um. I have i figured what that thing is called, but it's a bonnet that i found on amazon that it's like a regular bonnet, but it has a tail that just fits all the hair. In with my traditional box braids, i just slap that on and go. I never had to tie my hair down unless i like did my edges and wanted to you know. Oh that's another thing about the traditional box braids when i my hair right here is like all the way out, y'all and that's because because it's the traditional box braids, my edges like it's like the roots, are braided it just slipped like kind of out of it. So my my edges are like out like out - and i don't know y'all might never see me - do no baby hairs, like them, girls, we don't know where they comb their baby hairs and they hit that number. But my edges are out. I do slick my edges. A few times a week and i feel like it came out just for me like laying my edges so um yeah and honestly, it's like i feel like i have to keep doing my edges, because if this just to me this does not look good. It looks weird it looks like i. Ain'T got no edges because they're all like curled up, whereas with the traditional ones i feel like they gripped it good. I know people don't like their edges grip. I tell my stylist to leave some of it out, but i want you know. I want it grip so that when i'm laying them, i'm just only having to lay that little part right here. Not all of this yeah uh overall traditional black braids are just way less maintenance. Another thing i wanted to add this is a preference thing with me. I, like my braids, really really dense like i wanted to be like that's why i wear them to the side, because i wanted to look like a lot of hair with these. These joints are like flat. I noticed that, and i think it's just because your it starts off with the braid with the roots, so your hair is like laying flat against your root versus, like the knots will cause like an extra lift of hair um. I can't think of anything else that i want to add um as far as takedown i have yet to take one down. So, let's see how that goes i'll, take one down for you guys and see sorry y'all, i'm about to talk low because my puppy just started crying. I'M not ready to go, get her yet um and if you guys don't know, i got a new puppy and you guys have to go. Look at hashtag kadira, the bully she's like the best thing ever but um. Let me go ahead and take one of these out. Um y'all ever like go to like cut your box braids out, and you just be paranoid that you're gon na cut your real hair, no matter how far down you need it like. I know damn well: my hair is not down in here in these braids, but um. I'M still wait. Is it it's a little piece of hair sticking out right there i'ma cut down here, but this is that paranoia. I'M talking about this right here is the paranoia, but y'all saw. That is that i don't know if that's my hair or not because my hair is brown. My hair is brown in the back and blonde in the front, but let's see how this comes out. Another thing that i will add from my braiders perspective. She said that it was easy to make the hair like blend in more with your root when she does not list, because she said that um. I forgot her reason. It was for that, but she said that it just made like if you're doing colors it just looks better. This way it looks kind of almost like ombre versus you just starting, you got dark roots and then you just starting off with a whole color. She also said that for her it was easier to tuck, so um you guys can see like that whole braid. Right there is tucked you can't see like any of my dark root. I have dark roots, but you can't see it in that. Well see a little bit, but you can't see it for real, but let's see how this does and again, if you guys are interested in my uh takedown routine. I have a video on how i take down my box is right. This is my hair, so i could have cut all of this off y'all paranoid for no reason like my hair feels good nice and soft. My ends are a little long, but that's because you guys um! Well, you don't know if you're new to my channel um, i am growing out my color and i have about that much color left in the back. It'S going out so fast, but yeah. My hair feels nice and soft. I'M gon na stop touching it um. So yeah that is it for this video. I don't think i have anything else to add. Let me check my notes. Nope, don't have anything else to add um. I hope you guys enjoyed this video if you have any other questions about the knotless braids in comparison to traditional. Let me know. Oh final conclusion is, i probably won't get these again. Probably not. I don't care about the knot um. I didn't know that people were so concerned about the knots until knotless came out. I thought we were all happy with our box braids, but apparently we were not um, so yeah. I probably won't get these again just because after two weeks i just didn't like how old my hair looked, but some people like that some people like their stuff to look. Oh, i like, when my faux locs get old, but i don't like when my box braids get old, so yeah um. I probably won't do these again but anyway. Thank you guys. So much for watching do not forget to like comment and subscribe. If you are subscribed, make sure you cut your notification bells on, so you don't miss anything. I'M about to post bye! You

Daye La Soul: I forgot to mention early in the video that by the 3rd/4th week with the knotless braids, I started feeling tension and soreness from how much they had grown out and were hanging by my actual hair. They didn't feel heavy weight was but like it was sore. It's hard to explain but IYKYK. So for people who have had them, what was your experience after having them in for a few weeks?

Magnegbro: Your channel serves as an instructional manual for this single father of a 9 year old who is ready to come into her own hair wise. Thank you. I appreciate your service.

BamaraisedMe NCpaysMe: THANK YOU SOOO MUCH FOR THIS REVIEW!! I was supposed to get some knotless done tomorrow but nahhh I'm going traditional. I need mine to last at least 2 1/2- 3 months. I gotta get my moneys worth.

Nichole King: I agree completely with this video. Knotless braids don’t last nearly as long as traditional. I don’t normally lay my edges like that but I did notice that it looked like a mini fro in the front after a couple weeks and I tied my braids down. I don’t think I’d get knotless again they’re too expensive for them not to last as long

D-A Campbell: FACTS!!! Thank you soo much for doing this video! I thought it was ME!! I told my sister that I was NOT messing with these ‘new wave’ braids anymore. I made an appt for traditional box braids! Knotless braids are not for ppl with soft, fine textured hair. My entire experience with knotless was EXACTLY the same as yours.

Keisha W: Thank you for this review! I literally was going back and forth between the two. I had my own cons about knotless...mainly the spacing and how my roots would show after a while. So this video came on time. Helping a sista out as usual! Thanks Daye! And that red lip was yasssss!!!

Janell Holness: I knew it! You said everything that I thought! Thank you for this review so I won’t waste my money. My hair also gets pretty frizzy and tends to poke out of my protective style if I let it so I already knew this wasn’t for me. Thanks for the confirmation

251kbaby: I feel you on the tension as the knotless gets older. It wasn’t excruciating but it was annoying and a different feeling from box braids.

ACaptivatingMasterpiece: You are so right it depends on the hair. My daughter can wear them for almost 3 months and it looks good. I can barely get a month.

NaturallyKiki: Thank you for this. Although I like that knotless are less tension and can be styled right away, I have very thick coarse hair and they grew out so bad, and got very frizzy in not even a month. I’ll stick to traditional and deal with the tension, it goes away eventually. With regular braids I could get almost 3 months of wear if I wanted to.

Octavia Cron: Definitely going back to the regular box braids. They lasted longer for me and I had actual hair growth from them and knotless are not worth the $300 people charge for them.

taasshhlove: I don’t mind the knot either because I get medium/small box braids. Thanks for saving me from trying them because the roots would irritate me for real for real. But your braider is bomb

Alexis Watson: Thank you for sharing!! I'm so glad I opted to get traditional box braids instead. Braiders are charging $300+ for knotless, not including the hair... That's fine but a month of wear?????!!! Nah. I can get three months out of the traditional ones with proper maintenance and a touch-up.

Tomorrow Mims: Hey Daye! I agree with everything you said. I liked the knotless more because my grip game is horrible so knotless was easier to do on myself. I have not gotten knotless done professionally so I don't know if anything different would come of it if I did. My regular box braids would last months if done professionally, when I do it's 6 weeks.

DeeDee M.: I get my hair braided every month and for my hair I find the difference is with the size of the braid and whether I stretch my hair beforehand. I loved what you said about the seamless color with the knotless braid.

Cherie Lawrence: I did knotless and yes its lightweight and easy to style immediately but it was a waste of my money within 2 weeks my hair was fuzzy and messy all over. From the root and on the braid hair itself. Mousse and tying down didnt work for me. Way too much work to maintain which I didnt need to do with traditional.

Shari-Lee Davis: I experienced everything u did. The ends of my hair started to slip out the braids after a half and a week. It was messy and got frustrating so the didnt even last a month for me they worth the hype for all of one week. At least my stylist was honest and said because of my hair texture they may not last long. The soreness on my entire scalp was sooo different from faux locs and box braids. I'll stick to my faux locs!

Dana Che - Real Relationship Talk: Thanks for this! I love your personality. I have been deciding between knotless and traditional. I’m going to stick with traditional for now.

Michelle Frazier: Very informative video! I've always been skeptical of braids due to my thin, fine hair!

Mirah B.: Got some knotless braids in rnLoving that there’s less tension but when the new growth comes in not lovin it so much still cute but since I do my own I redo the front after 3 weeks. Don’t really care bout the back my stylist never made the knot noticeable so I didn’t mind ‍♀️ sadly my stylist stopped doing hair so I went a couple years without box braids finally learned how to do my own and I’ve just been hooked on knotless. I’m gonna try both and compare tho☺️

1ycj: The main reason I don’t like knotless is due to the takedown my hair is 3c type and when I get to the base at takedown my hair seems to tangle more which is especially difficult for me since I am extremely tenderheaded. I prefer regular box braids any day over knotless! My box braids only last me a average only 3 weeks before my hair becomes almost unbearable to comb after I take the braids out. It’s like my hair mats and connects to another braid at the roots.

Gardening on Concrete: I was wondering about the "knotless" braid... my stylist offered to do them when I wasn't sure what I wanted done to my hair. I declined because I just don't have the patience to sit through getting singles done after years of box braids being my go to style. But yo have to sit through that and it not even last my usual 2-3 months- nope. Thanks for putting me on game. Lol

allureing8663: Thanks for this video. I did knotless on my hair and like two weeks later I had the frizz. Taking them out tomorrow it’s been 3wks.

Gabriele Garcia: Girl your hair really is growing out fast! That color is almost goneeee. Love your content, keep giving us videos! Lol

Naturally_miss: I did this with the crochet method for this look and the takedown was frustrating I mean they looked nice but ummmmm no for me. I'm sticking to traditional and crochet braids. TFS ❤

JaJuana W: Same! I was thinking it was just me. I got them a week before my vacation thinking I needed time for them to loosen up so that I’m not uncomfortable on vacation. By the time I got back in town, I was ready to take them down. They are gorgeous and fun to style, but I felt like they were a waste of money & TIME getting them done, for this to be a protective style. Take down was easy for me. I’ve heard horror stories about edges, so I’ve never tried box braids but I just might after seeing this.

Audrey Baine: Thanks for the info . I got my first set of knotless yesterday I love em

Tajera: Good Morning Daye!! The paranoia is real. I took out my small box braids this weekend and cut my hair on accident three times. ‍♀️‍♀️

Danielle Covington: Currently have them in and I love them. I also got them last summer and wore them for 1 and a half almost 2 full months with no issues I did have new growth but I managed it fine and my hair isn’t as thick as yours at the root so that could play a role. I’m a knotless girl from here on out bc my scalp is sensitive and the no tension is a win for me.

Rena Labeaud: Ppl dont talk about it but Knotless and regular braids definitely their pros and cons! When things are new and trendy ppl only want to talk about the pros which could be deceiving... like you said you like the longevity and density of regular braids and idc about those things... i keep box and knotless braids in for the same 5 minutes and prefer to bun my hair so i like the lighter knotless braids... in the world of social media i feel like people dont like to express opinions that arent popular...

Shaquana Brown: I think that's why I was skeptical of getting them. My hair would be messed up in no time and watching your video made me make my decision. Even though I wanted them so bad..☹

Mrs. Roman: Thank you so much for your honest review. I was able to make my decision

tt howard: I was curious about knotless braids but not anymore sis! Sticking with traditional! Thanks for the video!

Kaci Fort: I been wondering if they were worth the hype, you just saved me about 200$

Kandice Harris: I definitely needed this video before I do the knotless method!

Life of Toy: I enjoyed this video I'm actually doing knotless braids on my daughter's hair today this is my first time installing them I will say the installation is a little more tedious for me I feel like feeding the hair in and making sure the feedings are the same size and not bocci takes a little more time

amari miles-reid: Okay now I'm second guessing myself. I'm supposed to get knotless braids for school in a couple weeks but this video has me reconsidering it. Can anyone else share there experiences with knotless braids? P.s. Thanks for the video Daye

Its.ige_: Yes Daye come through ! This is actually great because I can't decide whether I want traditional box braids or knotless next month so this is perfect! Thank you boo! #earlygang❤️

Curls Pop Naturally: Knotless is so much easier to do on yourself! It’s a game changer! I did some last month!

DopeDJ ENT: Girllll you spitting some facts! You were not fw it after like a week I love the box braids on you more but you rock every style you do love ❤️

IamCharityLynn: Daye said gimme the knots!!! I have my knotless in now! They better last me longer than a month!

Raven Ryals: You ain’t never lied in a video before Sis between you an Kimberly cherrell I’m always gonna trust what y’all say!

Kennay Proctor: Thank you for this. I’m about to change my appointment because I’m the one that leads in braids to long

CmoreLeaux: Same. Traditional box braids last much longer and will save you coins lol

Jessica D: When people were like, Knotless? I was like *smh* NOT FOR ME! I like to swim, workout and wash my hair in the REGULAR braids. So, I'm like I'll let the new school kids on the block have at it. Lol!!!

Shondae Maynard: It’s been months since you have this intro and I still be jamming like it’s new , love the content as usual

IxlizzyxI: It really depends on the quality of your hair, your hair type...4c hair tends to last longer.

Kristen Dobbins: I wish I would have seen this before I did my daughter's hair. I'm noticing the same exact thing you were talking about. Her roots are doing the same thing and I'm having trouble getting them to calm down some.

Sandra Asihene: I love your braids

banna bozo: Braids until this pandemic is over taking my second set of knotless out now after five weeks. Thanks for the video

lisa lainez: Hey ! To refresh my knotless braids, i use the method from kinsey raie video "how to refresh braids" Hope it will inspire you. Love your content.

Ms Raysis: I really considering knotless but see I love Box Braids .....

Plush Furr: U look gorgeous as always sis

Jennetta Stanford: I Love knotless!!!! But this True tho.. I don't do the medium knotless anymore.. My hair grew so fast!!!! Looking like a tree I only do the small knotless and I only do 6 weeks in my braids..

Bethany Pierce: Thank you for this!!!

Danie ツ: I normally keep my braids in for a month but I could only keep them in for 2 weeks... I spent time on them lol so that was very disappointing. I do believe it's your hair texture cause I have 4c-4b soft hair and it was frizzy with hair outside the braids more so in the front where I have 4B hair smh. I was so excited to do them.

Shannon Wilson: So helpful. Thank you.

Jamarri Greer: I got my first box braids a couple months ago and I chose knotless bcuz I hate rubber bands.

KendiaMarie: I already know knotless braids are not for me. My hair frizzes up too fast.

michael50694: I hate that it gets messy quick as well, but the fact that they are pain free matter more.

Latya J: I was just gonna try to do knotless on my hair tomorrow shiiiid I’ll do small traditional braids lol

Sherkendra Burch: Its wash Daye for me, so I will be watching Daye all day❤

Sharing Sharing: My hair is LIVE....meaning gets frizzy easily! And my hair is fine. Also I do not want my hair blow dried so no matter how I tuck/stylers tuck my hair still comes out the braids! No matter which holding product I use! My roots are a little problem but my coily hair coming out is a bog problem no matter how good the tuck!

TheCarnivoreSoprano: I thought about doing these. I'll pass lol. :) I got crochet braids in for the first time. Never again

Sada' Demoin: I cut super low on my braids just in case, I don’t want to risk it

Valencia Harding: I have knotless braids now and I’m a keep my braids in 3 months girl and it hasn’t even been two months and I can’t stand the way my hair looks you can’t even see the where the braid starts at the front of my head...but I still would get knotless again because I really love how they look

Myrna J: DayelaCrew!! love the Review.

Grace And Favor: Appreciate the review!

NicoleB Jones: I can say that those damn knotless braids, I will never do that again. I got so much shedding and breakage after I took those braid out. I've never experienced it before that. I was not able to keep those knotless that long. and for me I know how to take care of my hair with braids, I've been getting them all my life it was werid.

Victoria: I really don’t understand the hype. It’s just too much scalp for me!

Kalin Smalls: You don't look rough. You're beautiful.

Kimberly Allen: I love knotless I’ll never go back to box braids

L B: Awww beautiful Daye

music& makeuplover: It’s a blessing the growth your blessed

YouwishYouknew: Knotless braids for 3 years....lmbo! Video liked

Veronica Davis: I never liked the knotless. Just give me the traditional box braids.

Eliza Mack: Thanks for y’all the confirmation

Tracy McPherson:

Shequita Stevenson: Do you still use Curl’s liquid vitamins?

Khaliyah Liyah: Knotless would make my head look weird I have a big forehead but my actual head is small lol no ma'am

Ms Raysis: New subscriber on DECK Today periodttttt

Minyae Mckenzie: Ughh I hate the look of the big knot when it comes to box braids but I really want them to last

Step1: You giving me Meg the stallion..

Lranee: You like your hair BIG

Gracelike rain: You should learn to braid your own hair so u can save money and can redo it I only spend 5 dollars to braid my hair so I dont mind re doing it in 2 3 weeks

Tamara Henderson: Hey friend ☝

Shan: Gang gang

Brianna Woodard: Hey!!!!!
