Overhand Vs. Underhand Knotless Box Braids | There Is A Difference In Techniques

Hey y'all welcome back to my channel and today's video i'm going to show you how to do these knotless box braids the overhanded way and the underhanded way, and this one right here is the overhanded method. So you would just take your hair and you will split it into three sections and you will begin to braid the hair over top of each other, like so, and with knotless box braids. Of course you have to feed in some hair. So, as you can see, i am feeding that hair over top of the braid and you want to just continue this same pattern all the way down. So i did do a previous video and i titled it doing knotless box, braids, overhanded and underhanded. But what i wanted to title it is how to start off a knotless box braid as a cornrow versus a plait, because i had a couple. People come to me and saying that they can't start off box braids a certain way, and i was realizing that some were starting them off as like in a plait formation, and then others were starting them off as a cornrow. So i completely titled that video wrong and um. I don't want to confuse anybody so in this video i just kind of wanted to clear everything up, so i will link that video up above, but that video is just basically uh your hand, placement on how to start off a box braid as a cornrow versus A plait so in this video i just wanted to show you that there is two different ways of doing box braids and that is overhand and underhand, and it does look different now. This technique right here, is the underhanded method. And again you just section your hair off into three sections and again you don't want to bring the braids over because we're doing underhand. This is how you start off overhand but underhand. You take those three sections and you begin to braid underneath each other and then when you're ready to feed in the hair. You feed the hair in underneath, and you continue this pattern all the way out so again guys. I don't want to confuse anybody, because my heart is to really teach people. You know the things that i do know about. Hair and everybody does do hair differently, and i completely respect that. But i just try to to help people, and you know, teach them the way that i basically do my different techniques and doing hair. So i don't want to confuse anybody, and so this is why i made this video so that it could be very clear that there really is uh. Two different ways: overhand and underhand, is very different, and here are the two methods up close, and this is the overhanded method and, as you can see, the braids are going over top of each other and the next one. That is the underhanded method and the braids are going underneath each other. So there really is a difference and i hope you can see that. Thank you guys so much for watching. I’m a single mom with a 16 year old and can’t afford to pay the money to get her hair braided so I normally do pretty good with keeping her hair up and watching YouTube videos for the latest styles. I’m an underhand braided and I’ve succeeded in butterfly locs, faux locs and even knotted box braids. I just could not get the knotless braids or feed in together since I braid underhanded. I was in the middle of trying out the knotless braids but all the YouTube tutorials only showed me over hand and I just couldn’t get it and the braids looked horrible. After telling my baby, I’m sorry I just can’t get it, she started taking the braids down. As she was taking them down I kept looking for underhand videos and came across yours. Long story short I was able to keep going and the braids looked great! Your video was sooo helpful! I did take down the ones I initially did wrong and fixed them but needless to say my daughter is very pleased and looks beautiful and feel very confident. In fact many of her friends ask her who fixed her hair and is now requesting me to braid theirs
