************************************************************************

Hey everyone, so today i'm going to be showing you guys how i maintain my hairline right now. It does not look good. Of course, this is going to read the before. Let me show you guys, step by step, how i do it from beginning to end. I'Ve been getting a lot of questions and how i maintain my hairline been getting a lot of people wondering if i redid my braids, if they're brand new, if they're fresh, if i refresh them, if i taken them out, put them back in all of that Jess. I'M here to tell you no, I have not taken out any of my braids that cost money and I'm not about to spend any more money on these braids, so I've been maintaining them and it's really really easy. So I'm gon na show you guys exactly how I'd do it, so my braids are almost three months old. Everyone'S hair will look different at three months but, like I said, I've them in Taney mine, probably by one month in I started, maintaining them started like actually doing stuff to my hair for the whole first month. I didn't do anything I just made sure at night. I covered my hair with a silk scarf and even when I took a shower, I had this on as well. If you want to, you can definitely put on a shower cap, because the steam from a shower is going to make your hair poof and frizz, especially if you have curly natural hair or just you know, textured hair curly, kinky, whatever it is, it's gon na poof. If you get water on it, what you'll need for this tutorial you'll need a silk scarf. You can get it at your local beauty. Supply store, they're, fairly, cheap. You don't need to buy expensive one. You just need one that is that silky material. I don't know if it's soaker satin whatever it is. It'S it's silky so that one like that do not use cotton. Cotton, sucks, moisture out of your hair, olofi, we're still wearing bandanas to bed, don't use bandanas. They are cotton made of cotton and they suck moisture and life out of your hair. So you just need a spray bottle of water. So that's what I'm using and then, of course you need a hair tie, just something that's going to put your hair out of the way. So you can work on a section, so some of you guys actually may want to go a little bit further and maybe add a moisturizer to your hair. That'S perfectly fine! If you are going to do that, you need to use a moisturizer that is water, water, water, based, don't use something that does not contain any water you're going to be acting for build up, and you don't want build up on your hair line because starts turning White and it starts to flake, and it just turns into a mess so use something that contains water. So you want something that has water as its first or second ingredient, I'm just gon na use water because I feel, like my hair. For the most part, my hair was pretty much moisturized. It was moisturize really really well before I put in my braids that you guys can see my hair is so a lot of people, my hair isn't very frizzy because, of course, I've been maintaining it. If I had not been doing anything at all, it would look like a month, but I have been maintaining it, but this is what it looks like. It still looks pretty good, of course, because it's been maintained, but this is pretty much what I would start off with frizzy fuzzy edges that I probably would not go outside. Looking like this, so what I'm gon na do first, is I'm gon na put outside this section of my hair, I'm gon na start with this very first twist. Alright, so so you guys can see. This is the amount of new growth I have in this little section here. Everyone'S hair grows at a different rate, so this may not be much for someone, or this may be a lot for someone everyone's hair growth at a different rate. We have this section right here: I'm gon na go ahead with my spray bottle of water and I'm going to go ahead and just spritz that area very lightly. You don't want to soak it down the more water it has the longer it takes to dry. Now I'm gon na take that section and begin smoothing the water into the hair. So now, if some of you guys want to go that extra step and go ahead and add a moisturizer, your water-based moisturizer, you can definitely dip your finger. Add it to the section work it in it's the same thing you just work it in so do anything about. Let me make this clear. You know anything about adding another product on top of the water is that the product can get caught right here, where the braid meets the natural hair cause build up and leave that white residue. If you want to avoid that, then of course just use water, but if you have a water-based product it should melt away. If you just work it in just work it in it should melt away and dry clear and now we're gon na begin, twisting twisting and twisting so I'm kind of pulling my hair so you're, probably seeing that my skin is moving. So let me not do that. I just want to show you guys what I'm doing another disclaimer, because I know I'm gon na get questions and comments, and some people cannot handle this method. Some of you guys have a very fine hairline. Some of you guys have a stronger hairline. Everyone'S hair is different, so this may not work for you, I'm going to show you guys another way that you can do this without the twisting method, but it doesn't last as long. So this is what it looks like up close if you guys can see that it kind of looks like a dreadlock once that's been twisted, you pretty much want to go ahead and tuck that behind your ear and it just stays nice and twisted. So let me show you guys, the next one. You know you have fine edges and the twisting method is just not gon na work for you. So this is what a lot of other ladies do on YouTube. They go ahead and probably put a little water. So, let's do one quick spritz of water, smooth that in and I'll probably put a little bit of their moisturize there. No twisting just smoothing it in they'll probably put a little bit of gel smooth that in and then that's it. That'S it no twisting. Just like that says you can see. Look at the difference. You guys do the difference between this and this this to mean looks better, but this will not work for everyone. This can work for everyone, but it doesn't look as neat another method. So method number three is to remove the braids at the front of your head and just get them reinstalled either you do it or whoever did it for you. So water is in and we are going to twist and I'm gon na. Stick it behind my ear. So you see how that looks once I do my little jumbo twist at the end, you guys will see that it looks a lot better right now. It looks kind of funny, because why is this so skinny - and this is kind of big here right now? It looks a little bit funny, but you'll see later so once one side is complete. I go ahead and take that section and section it off, because I don't want the hairs to unravel so once the hair line is done and you finish the center I'm going to unravel this section, I'm going to take the ones that I just finished twisting put That back section these off before I do this twist, I know some people may wonder about if you can just leave your hair. Just like this. Some of you guys just like to wear your braids down, no pinning it back. No, nothing! The only thing about the twisting method is that eventually it will unravel if you just leave it like this, with the twisting method, you definitely want to try and pin some back. Let'S go ahead and grab the ones that we just finished refreshing. So you're gon na have two sections in your hand and then you're gon na begin twisting and as you twist you're gon na pick up hair below. So I'm gon na pick up some hair. That'S down below and twist then pick up hair we're picking up the ones that we finished twisting because you don't want to leave them out because they are going to unravel so taking our jumbo twists we're going to release these ones. So now that all I hear is gathered, we are going to take our hair elastic and just tie it around. That'S what that looks, then. Finally, you take your silk scarf and tie my head. So while the silk scarf sits on my hair, I usually maybe watch TV edit video do some cleaning maybe take a shower or something and just let it sit for about. You know 5-10 minutes depending on, if I'm going out or not by the ten minute mark. You can definitely go ahead and remove your silk scarf and your edges should look good. Your hairline should look very neat. This is what I do to maintain my hair without rewriting the hair. Hopefully you guys enjoyed the video and, if you did please leave me a comment subscribe for more videos, I'll see you guys in the next one

Shaw'Tae Sullivan: THIS WAS VERY HELPFUL THANKS ! I WILL BE DOING THIS TONIGHT

Taylor McDaniel: Glad to see someone else does the same thing as me

Sofia Royal: I never knew I needed this My braids never last long, (okay I take care of them the first 3 day and then I get annoyed... I'll change that) and my hair are completely broken (real hair) so this twisting method seems to pull much on the hair but it's the ideal to maintain the real hair and braid good and healthy together Thank you!

Cryssie jones: Great love this video thank u for sharing my braids are only 31/2 weeks old but I'm definitely going to give this method a try (twisting } your braids look refreshed and nice

Brooke Burbank: Just got medium sized twists installed in my natural hair last week - and they are fuzzy already! 1st time getting braids/twists since being totally natural. I mean you can see my fuzzy hair down the shaft of the twists! Type 4b hair. Any tips on preventing this? Do you think it’s because it’s twists, or that my hair may do this even if I get braids? I do have fuzzy hair and this happens when I try to do twists on my own (keep in mind I am not a hair girl and can’t style it myself to save , my life!).

Ann Wambui: Thanks for this video. I love my braids that looks as new ♥️

Elizabeth Abe: Lord have mercy! Braids for 3 months. I'm bored with the hair after 3 weeks , and it itches after a month even with washing every 2 weeks. I guess we all have different hair. It looks good though

Lele: I used virgin olive oil mixed with water in a spray bottle, no build up and looks luminous

shatia haymond: Sis this is an awesome method so going to try this on my one month knotless smedium braids .. Bless and Thank you

Thug Princess Tyler Wasabi: Amazing video and you explained very well. I like that you were about business. I’m so over all of the yelling and screaming. You were authentically yourself. I’m subscribing

Fruit2Live: I love the half up half down styles and any style with a head band or wrap. All of them were cute honestly.

Deanna Cook: They seriously look brand new amazing!!

grisilda Jackson: Great video!! When you refresh your braids by twisting, do you experience any locking? Thanks

Shadow Starlight 201831: Very helpful going to try this. So my braids can last. At least six weeks. That was the plan before. I changed it to three weeks. Because they got frizzy. This can maybe push me to my six.

Carolina Kasi-Sagote: Love... I’ve learnt how to look after and maintain my braids from you ..❤️

Nads McLaughlin: Very helpful, thank you, I have in box braids now n was think about taking them out...will definitely try this.

g k: Thank God I found this video you're such a lifesaver that means I don't have to go and spend that money and get it re done

shaniqua blake: Thank you sooo much for this ❤️

Cowww33: THANK YOU SOO MUCH YOU MADE IT LOOK BETYER THAN WHEN IT WAS MADEEE

Time With Teena: Worked for me thanks

Eunice Turner: Great tips! My hair twists on its own and I hate it because it begins to lock on me so I always have to redo the braid to refresh the perimeter.

Stacey Andrus: Shanique, It's Very Pretty❣️It Looks Like They've Been Totally Redone❣️

MistressYoko: I started doing the twisting method (using shea moisture curl enhancing smoothie) and giiirrll you save my style and my wallet!

Brittany Alender: Jealous! Got my box braids done and my hair after a month looks like yours does now. Wish I could've kept them in longer but yours look really good!

NaturallyAmani: I was so intrigued by this video because this is how I sometimes maintain the roots of my locs

Abbey Baby: LOOKS GOOD!

Rochelle Knight: Like you said, not sure everyone's hairline can handle this (doubt mine can) but I've still picked up a few useful tips for next time I braid my hair. Thanks! My current box braids are probably already a goner after a month of poor maintenance.

Lady A: Great advice thanks!

XOXO, Jamelle: finally, someone as obsessed as me !! love this video but with that much regrowth, i would get a retouch....also, i use a no rinse shampoo from Sally's... it is NOT a spray and doesn't flake

Chavion Collins: Listen I'm going on vacation in two days for a week. I refuse to take them down. So will definitely try the twisting method. Thank you

Caroline Wakairū: You are a great tutor hence I have subscribed to your channel. I loved the video and your braids look gorgeous Love from Kenya

Hinata Hyuga: Thank you ! I'll be using this if I face growth in about 2 months

Julett Fullerton: Thank you very much Helpful tips, appreciate this video

Alicia .M: I see people do the twist method a lot and I want to try, but I’ve always been scared of what happens to the twists during the upcoming weeks/months. Does the twists turn into locs, does the hair grow and the twist undo, would we have to untwist and clean before re-twisting the hair again?

leighvii: i always feel like the braids are just gonna slip out when u yank them

Angel Cross: Amazing! How often did you do this after the first month?

Chimdinma Obasi: My braids come off after 3-4weeks max, not because I want to, but because my hair tangles real tight at the point where the new growth and my braid meets. If I try twisting, my hair locks in.

Jennifer Lee: The longest I can keep my braids in is 6 weeks...anything over that I can’t deal lol. I can’t do crochet anymore so I’m going to try jumbo box braids...I’m thinking if they’re larger they will be a little more forgiving on my hairline lol

Valerie Banks: Everyone hair is different , for those who are saying their hair looks like a year old after one month I think it just depends on your hair . My hair is naturally curly so I can put moose on my breads and it lays straight down versus some videos where I see a lot of frizziness from their natural hair on the braids . Everybody braids won’t look like this even if well maintained . Thanks for this video , I love the twisties ❤️

Aujah Taylor: This works well for bigger braids , maybe be more cautious with smaller braids.

mochamnd02: Sorcery! Saving for the next time I get braids

Skysdalimit247: Just found this video. I thought I was the only one who does this. lol I use a tiny bit of edge country though. The only thing s I have 4a hair, so you pretty much have to redo this every other day if you had soft hair like I do.

Andera Faith: Hi, thanks for this video I've really liked it and i think it's a good idea but do you use only water or you have to apply something else? And secondly doesn't it break?

Kingdom Elegance: Just seen this now but so helpful thanks so much

Dacia’s DIY: What happens to the part that you twist ? Does it dread up or come out ?

Dude: My braids are literally two weeks old and look older than yours. I'm not even sure if it's because it's growing extremely fast since I added ayuverdic oil to my regimen or because I moisturize them.

Annette Okeke: My hairline needs this

Being Natural: Did you remoisturise the length of your braids while you had them? Thanks for the video. Looking forward to the video.

Nelsha Burtley: Hi! Love your videos. The water method and gel method are cool but how about a mixture of your fav oils and spray that instead.

Jean B.: The best thing to do is have the first two rows taken down and redone..When I wore braids 15 years ago my stylist always refreshed them this way, in between washings.
