Diy Knotless Box Braids (Using Spetra Fiber) - Lessons Learned

What'S going on YouTube, it is a girl, Lauren finesse and I am back and I'm excited about this review cuz. This is my very first hair review, what it's kind of a hair review. It'S also more of a lessons learned and it's gon na be on these, and I got to give myself some props. I have never done braids feet and not lists, and this review is going to be on these gorgeous knotless box braids. It'S about to say, crochet box braids and I am so excited because I always do my own hair and I watch tons and tons of youtube videos of all these different women that do their own hair and it comes out. Looking balm and I've had some hits. Some misses and but I'm getting a lot better, so I'm very excited to do my very first lessons learn review box braids like it's everything, it's everything, so I'm excited so without further ado, let's get into these box braids. So I have been wanting to do these box braids for probably like two months and with everything going on with the corona. This is the perfect time for us to put our hair and braids for those of us who like work in corporate and have to be in front of clients and stuff, which is what I do. I would never get like hair with this color in it. Just to kind of like be out in front of like million and billion dollar industries companies CEOs executives, not that I couldn't and maybe that and you know what that's maybe a video that I should do also like how black women, where we fit in in corporate America, because I can really get into something, so let me come back to that, but all in all in quarantine. This is the best time for us to experiment with our hair to let our hair grow out. If you wanted to get pink braids, but you couldn't or you wouldn't get pink braids because of you know professionally, this is the time. So that's why I decided to do it into a pop of blonde and coming up on summer, it's getting warmer outside, and these braids have been everywhere. Everyone is doing the knotless box braids. So without further ado, let me actually get into the hair that I use. So, first things: first, the hair that I used is the EZ braid Quattro four times mate with spectra fiber. This is the stop guard. So, first of all, I saw a video of a girl using the spectrum, the easy braid spectrum. I don't think it was this specific brand or no, it was innocent, it was. It was this brand, but the package didn't look like this and I was like spectra. I'M like that sounds interesting, because the spectra fiber is it is where is it? Are? It is 99.9 % antibacterial, that's what the fiber is, so I don't know about anybody else, but I have had weave or like a synthetic blend in my head and it caused irritation on my neck. It caused irritation, like maybe on the side of my face behind my ears, and so when I saw this I was like this is perfect, because my skin is very, very sensitive and that stood out to me, 99.9 % antibacterial fiber. It is it's free! Okay, it's itch free and, like I said, that's what drew me to the hair. So I started to look on YouTube and not a lot of people are using the spectra fiber yet, and I was I'm seeing a lot of people still using that expression. Jumbo braid and other types of variations of that jumbo braid, where you have to take it out the pack, it's like 38 inches long. You got to cut it. You got to stretch it. That'S too much work. I don't have time for it. I barely know how to break. I definitely do not have time to be cutting and stretching and doing all of that, so the easy break. Quattro four times is pre-stretched. It'S it's free, it's tangle, free! You know that expression. Braids. Now I have gotten my hair braided with that before and my hair tangles up so bad and once it's tangled you just got to cut it. You end up pulling you like trying to find the string. You pull you pull you pull now. You have like a clump of just like nappy hair on the floor and it's like it's out there you're a pack waste it when you get done, but this is tangle free. It is quick drying, it is ultra light and I can attest to it. I feel like I have maybe a hundred and something braids in my hair and it's not heavy at all at all and, lastly, it is hot water setting. So, of course, when we are doing our our box braids, we want to dip the hair into the boiling hot water and set the end so that they don't unravel and it's hot water set and it's good dry. So you can do that very easily. Now, the hair that I have in my hair - and this is actually the color that I have it - is the tt1 v-27, so it's the ombre one be at the top and then it flows into the 27 at the bottom. It'S like an ombre with a blonde. Now, in the easy braids you get four like bundles in each of the package. Now, when I bought the hair because of the coronavirus beauty, supply stores had just opened back up in Chicago I'm from Chicago I'll pay first, which was this past Friday and okay. Let me just tell you all how I even got to that point. Last Sunday, okay, I ordered from Sam's Beauty again, I'm from Chicago Sam's beauty is a Chicagoland store. They have a warehouse in Mount Prospect Illinois. They have a store on like North Avenue in Chicago and when I went through their site I saw that they had a pickup option. Now. I know everything with Kovac shipping, for everybody is delayed and backed up. I understand that, but they had a pickup option. It'S not like cool, I don't even need to wait. Let me go ahead, put it in and set that the regular turnaround time was. If you order before 1 p.m. you 1 p.m. Central Standard Time, which is the Chicago time zone, you can pick up the hair like the next day, so I ordered it Sunday night. So I'm like okay cool Monday. I won't get it Monday, I'm like my Tuesday. I should probably hear something at the latest Wednesday. That'S what I'm thinking you know with Kovac right. So Monday comes around. Of course I don't. I don't hear anything and I paid for it. Obviously, you have to pay for it up front, so it's paid for Tuesday rolls around and nothing so Tuesday evening. I'M like okay! Let me just I don't want to freak out because again I'm understanding that whit Kovac things are good late. So I'm trying not to be one of those, but I'm I'm like girl. I want this hair, so I can be done. I want to do it during the week so that I can relax on the weekend cuz. I still working. I still and then meetings all day, but whatever that's another another day, another dollar right so Tuesday night. I'M like. Let me just you know. Let me just send a little customer service. Email, hey. I chose the pickup option. You know, I know it said it usually same-day pickup, it's been a couple days. You know just checking on my order, I'm understanding of the delays. Just let me know now. The customer service link for the email is the only thing that you can use because of the copán. Their customer service telephone line is disabled again totally understanding of that. So the turnaround time for the customer service email is one to two days. So I said: okay, when they come around, don't hear nothing Thursday come around, don't hear nothing so now Thursday, I'm like okay, I literally am just doing a pickup or and - and let me say this - this is no shade to Sam's Beauty, because I am a hundred Percent understanding of the climate and everything that's going on around the world, so I this is no shade to them, but they need to come up with a better contingency plan. Like I understand the shipping but pickup orders, it's like walking into a store I paid for it, so you just need someone in your warehouse to come put my things in a bag or a box with my invoice and put it off to the side. There is no way that they didn't have enough time to do that. Shipping orders that's a different department. They should have had someone working on pick up orders, a team of people working on pick up orders. So anyway, now it's Friday and I'm like okay, the whole week that went by. I really wanted to do my hair during the week. So now I'm like I came like the weekend go by. I am like for work. I'M a project manager. I just ended a project and my job consists of me traveling, so I'm like man, I don't know if Monday, when I'm supposed to be getting into this new project, if I'm gon na have to start traveling and I'm like. If so, I'm like. Oh, I don't know if I want to get the braids. If I want to wait, I'm like I definitely have to do something to my hair cuz. I Sunday I had put my hair into all of the sections, but I need it and I'll get into that. In a second just give me a little a little backstory Allah yang Yang, so y'all understand where I'm coming from so now it's Friday and I don't have the hair I'm reaching out to Sam's beauty on their Instagram, because I sent a customer service email on Tuesday. It says one to two days: it's been three days. I don't have time to play like I just I don't I've already paid for it eyes late. What are we doing? I'M 20 minutes away from the warehouse, pickup location. Just let me come and pick it up. I almost was gon na just go up there, but they, you know they specifically say wait for your email, so I'm like okay, so I'm on their Instagram and I'm like look okay, I have a pickup order. Can someone look into it? Can someone tell me something? Um crickets right and so then actually this actually let me take a step back. Actually I reached out to them on left on their Instagram on Thursday, on Friday is when they were responding and they're like hey. What'S your order number, if I give my order number, they look it up like. Oh, your orders still being prepared. I'M like I made the order on Sunday all our order was, and it wasn't even this hair. It wasn't even this hair and I love this hair. So I'm actually glad I didn't get it I'll get to it, but it was the central fiber, but it was like a different type or whatever so now, they're like oh, it's preparing. So at this point, I'm like it's it's like 12:30 in the afternoon, and I had gotten a text message from my local Beauty Supply that they were now opening up on Friday and that they are doing pickups. Just called these numbers tell us what you want and come pick up your stuff. So I'm like you know what I need to do my hair today, I don't have time to play with Sam's Beauty. I'M like I'm just gon na cancel my order. Call my local Beauty Supply, which the beauty supply location by my house is a warehouse I live in Rogers Park. I don't know who's familiar with the area, but it is the forever Beauty warehouse and it's on Howard and Western, and so that's a huge store. They have everything, so I was excited that they were back open. So I'm, like you, know what cool I cancel my order and I call the Beauty Supply and I put in my order for the hair. I got four packs of this, which again I didn't realize how much thicker was any. I really, I only use two packs and I have a hundred and something braids, but I have four packs of this hair with my pal factor edge booster, that I use for excuse me as the pomade to make my party and stuff I called them. They say your order is ready, come pick, it up and literally ordered put my clothes on, went to the store got, it came back and was done and I'm like why can't Sam spew tea, who I really wanted to go through? Why couldn't they have this smooth of you know? If you have a pickup option, it should be smooth, I'm not paying for shipping. You don't need to create a shipping label. I'Ve already paid put my invoice in the box of my stuff and that be that so anyway, quick sidenote last quick blow side. Note this girl, who see me on the SAMS Beauty, Instagram, have reached out and she's like hey. I also just put in the order for pickup. This is Friday. I'M on you she's, like hey. I also put in the order for pickup. If they take a week, I'm not gon na be able to wait five days, I'm gon na be cancelling mine too. So I told her about the beauty supply warehouse by my house, and I gave her that information and when I cancelled my order with Sam Beauty, I got the cancellation email right away, sound like cool they talking about three to ten business days. Before I get my refund, which is fine, whatever this girl reaches back out literally a couple hours later and was like girl, I just got my confirmation email. I can go pick up my stuff, so she got her stuff same day and I ordered on Sunday and Sam's. Beauty still didn't have it ready by Friday, but this girl ordered on a Friday and hers was ready, make it make sense. Uh I'm gon na leave. It there, because maybe Sam's beauty, will randomly see this video and want a partner, and I would be open to that. Let'S have a redeemable relationship, but my goodness am I really wanted to order from you guys and the pickup option is amazing. All right, I didn't spend too much time on. Let me hurry up and quickly just get this out the way cause I'm getting round up again, because I was really upset in any of this. You thought the Bradys I'm like. I said this. Video is really more of a lesson to learn. This is the back, and this is a lessons learned video, because for some reason I feel like I have so many braids by ourselves. I'M saying a hundred, but I may have more than a hundred and they're not thick, but I can tell that they're going to be thick to put into a ponytail. If you guys can see and don't be, don't be worried about my kitchen, I'm gon na clean it up, so natural ground will have no product, no perms and relaxing. So it might look a little. You know, but that's the only thing that I found out. I'M like when I was looking at other girls. Videos bears look to be laying flat which mind lays flat, but, like they didn't seem to have this many brave I mean how did I come out with so many breeds and the sections that you can see? They'Re, not tiny sections. These are, I feel like medium sections and even girls, that I saw who had tiny sections. There still didn't look as thick as mine, so I don't know if it's the hair, if it's the parting, but I mean I am gon na. Do this style again, I'm not gon na. Do it as long I also cut. I should cut this today, it's at my butt and I would show you guys, but I'm not wearing pants. I am in quarantine, I'm so I'm doing baby bills from here up uh, but it came all the way like under my butt and I cut it to like at my butt. I could like maybe this much of the ends off and then and then reseal them. I did that this morning, so that's not my only con about like me doing myself. Lessons learned I need to. I think I have small sections and also some of the the brave or not sad enough. Also I've never done a feat in braids. So some of the braids in the back like before I've got the rhythm and the hang of it. You can see they're like I'll put up against my shirt. You can see like you can see. I added hair here, cuz, here's a bump in the braid and you can see I like added hair here - here's another bump in the brain, so it's not as seamless as it could be. You can see the bumps when I got to the front. I obviously like had figured it out so by the time I got to the front. The braids look really good in the front, which I guess, that's all that matters whatever and they still look good. I just I hate I can feel and see the bumps of where I'm adding hair in the braids. Also, lesson learned: you don't need a lot of this edge booster and I feel like I used so much and it makes your hair dull if you use too much, but the good news - and I also put this in my beauty - haul video, which you know please Take a moment and watch it when you're done with this one is, if you put water on it, it sort of activates it, and then the shine comes back because it is a water-based commie. What else party I've done my hair in sections? I did my hair, like from the crown back, was one and then parted down the middle and then the two sides. So I had three large sections and then within each section I had done my parting already, so you can kind of see like my parting here. You can see that I like do parting across here, like that, and also I mean my parting - is not the best like I'm not. I don't do braids, I'm not a cosmetologist. I think I did a really good job, but I'm not a cosmetologist, so I don't know. If I can do anyone else's hair, probably could do it a little better cuz. I can actually see like the back uh. What else I think that's it. So I am going to actually do maybe a more informative DIY when I come back with the next set. I want to keep these in, for at least if I can make it to two months. I know me I'm gon na get tired of these braids and especially if I have to start traveling again from work. I'Ll, probably take these off put my unit back on again we'll talk about that.
