Oh no anxiety creeps up on me. Is this how it's supposed to feel tell me when it's over - I guess hey guys, so today's video is going to be all about how I wash my braids. So this method is going to be perfect for anyone who's gone swimming at a pool and got their hair wet or maybe you went to the beach and got your hair wet or you just want to wash your whole entire head. But if you're someone who just wants to wash the scalp and not the length of your hair, then check out my previous video on how I wash my scalp when wearing braids I'll link it up here and I'll. Have it down below, for you guys, my hair is a total of maybe five weeks old, now yeah, something like that anyways the last time I washed my hair was probably about two weeks ago, and this is what it's currently looking like. So you can see. There'S some fleets going on itself isn't too bad because I've been using my hair oil, and that has been really hoping to minimize the dryness or anything like that. But you can still see that I do have some frizz going on, like the edges. Are all um fuzzy? Now my hair has grown out quite a bit. I don't know if you guys can see that, but my hair has grown up quite a bit in some areas. I have about half an inch of growth, which makes sense because I typically get about half an inch a mud, so you guys can see. There'S some flakes. There'S also some shredded hairs poking out. If you guys see little white bulbs in your hair do not be alarmed it's just shattered hair. We lose about 50 to 100 strands a day. There'S nothing! You can really do about that, but the darker, your braids, are the more the easier it is to see them. The lighter your braids, the shadow hair, is kind of blend, and you can't see the white bulb you're going to need shampoo. It does not matter which shampoo you use. You either want to put your shampoo in an applicator bottle, or you want to put your shampoo in a spray bottle with water. So for me, I'm gon na be using an applicator bottle to apply my shampoo. You want to kind of do this in an orderly fashion, so that way you can get all of your scalp. So taking my shampoo, I'm gon na come in close, so you guys can see, and I'm literally gon na place the shampoo on my scalp, not on my hair, just my scalp so going in just gon na squeeze. I don't know if you guys can see it, because my shampoo is clear, but just going in with my shampoo and rubbing so because this is just straight up: shampoo, I'm actually going to whip out a spray bottle of water to just to moisten my scalp. So I'm using this Miss spray bottle which is going to do a really good job with not getting my hair soaking wet, but just damp just gon na Spritz each row. I actually should have did this first, but it's okay Spritz each row for those of you who have water in your spray bottle. Then you don't need to do this, but I don't have water in my applicator, so I kind of need to do this. So just going row by row, I know some people are saying that, oh, my God, this is so much work, hey. If you don't want to wash your braids, don't you don't have to I personally love washing my braids. It feels so good and my braids last me way way longer. I did not sit down for six hours and pay whatever amount I paid to get this done to wear it for two weeks hell. No, I'm making sure I wear my braids and if you want to take them out early because you don't want to wash your braids, that's fine now that that is all nice and sprayed. If you want to start again so just splitting the hair taking my shampoo pouring it and again, you are only focusing on the scalp, don't rub on the braid just to scalp, so you go down the sides and make sure you get everywhere, and this doesn't take Too long, I honestly for me it takes about five minutes to do it's really, not that long. It probably seems like it's long because um it's being filmed, and I I'm talking while I'm doing it, but it's it honestly, doesn't take that long. For those of you, who've never done this and are thinking about it or afraid to do it or whatever. I would say: give it a try, but don't do it too early on, do it towards do it towards the end of your hair cycle or your braid cycle, for example, let's say I'm going to take my braids in a few days. That'S when you would want to try and do it, you want to do it a few days before you're actually going to take it out to see if it to see whether or not it's going to work for you, I would hate for you to do it On like freshly done here, not freshly done, but like a few days old or a week old hair - and you know you try it out and it doesn't work for you. So do it on here that you're planning to take out so that way. Next time you get braids installed, you know whether or not it works right. Does that make sense? I hope that makes sense so yeah don't do it too early. Do it towards the end, when you're ready to take out the braids, to give this a try, because I will say it's not going to work for everyone and from the comment section on my video that has now gone viral. It definitely doesn't work for everyone. So, for example, someone who has totally short hair someone who has maybe 4C hair, it may not work if you have really short hair you're, going to see like little pieces of you're going to have a lot of frizz towards the roots. Um someone who has 4C hair, you guys have a lot of shrinkage, so you're going to see little afro puffs or like a lot of frizz um in your braids um, someone who has really really straight hair or like loose texture here um your braids May slip Out when you're, actually washing your hair, which I've read a ton of people telling me that that their braids fall out when they wash your hair, which really sucks? Because that means you can't wash your hair, I mean for me. I feel like that sucks because I love washing my hair, so I love wearing my braids for long periods, so, okay, so now that the rows are done, I do turn around well, for you guys. I turn around and I get the back. So I just go in and pour down down just like that, and I kind of just go in and gently massage that area so just like that and if you want you can go back in the mirror and make sure you get everywhere. So you just go in just a few rubs and make sure you get all of your squares, so all of your parts - just like that, so I'm gon na do the rest off camera. I don't want this video to be too too long, but I want to show you guys what I do to the front portion of my hair. That'S the air. We put mousse and gel and leave-ins and oils. So you really want to make sure you get that area nice and clean. So let's do the front now the front. I do go a little crazy with that area. Just because, like I said so, much happens in that front portion of my head, but this area is really easy to like fix up. If you know what I mean, it's really easy to refresh the front. So don't worry if that area gets frizzy. Don'T worry about that, we'll fix that. So now I go in and I'm gentle I'm still very gentle. I don't use my nails and I just rubbed. Oh, it doesn't work all right. So that's looking pretty good. It'S looking pretty good nice and shampooed all right. Nice. All right, and once I'm satisfied we're gon na go ahead and hop in the shower. If you don't want to hop in the shower, you can definitely wash your hair by a sink with like a big bucket or like a big cup and pour the water really up to you. So now that I'm in the shower, I'm just going to let the warm water do its thing and run through my hair and my scalp. When I'm ready, I'm going to use the pads of my fingers and I'm just going to gently massage my scalp and letting the water run through my hair, you want to be very gentle with this. You don't want to cause too much frizz just take your time and use the pads of your fingers to rub out any shampoo. If you don't have a handheld shower head, you can definitely use a large bucket or a small cup, or you can just stand directly under your shower head. You know when the shampoo is out when the water runs clear, Vlog and, as I mentioned before, you only want to use this way of washing your braids. Only if you got your hair wet while swimming or you feel like you just want to wash all of your hair, you can definitely skip this and just wash your scalp. I have a video on how I do that. So once you're done rinsing out your shampoo, you can go ahead and move on to adding some conditioner and you want to make sure that you add the conditioner only to the length of your braids and not at your roots. Conditioner is quite thick and it can get trapped inside your roots and once it's trapped, it becomes really hard to rinse out. You can end up with a lot of build up white residue, and you definitely don't want that to take a generous amount and apply it to your braids and smooth it in leave it in for about five minutes and then go ahead and rinse it out with Warm water, all right, you guys, so I just came out of the shower. My hair is up in a high bun, just because I don't want my hair to be dripping all of my clothes while I get dressed so next. What you're going to need to do is you're either going to teach it dry, your hair or use a microfiber towel or you're going to let it down loose and let it air dry or you can use a handheld blow dryer or sit under a hooded dryer. It'S completely up to you me, for example, I like to wash my hair really early in the morning, so that way I have all day for my hair to dry. So that's personally what I like to do, but of course, if my hair was still feeling wet, then I would definitely use a dryer to make sure that I'm not going to bed with wet hair, and you definitely don't want to do that because that can lead To mold and of course your braids can start to smell if you don't fully try them so this method of washing my braids, I would only do if I got my hair wet while swimming other than that. I would not use this method. I would just do the other method. I showed you guys in my previous video of just washing the scalp, so my hair is still very, very wet. It'S like 80 percent wet um, but this is the time that I like to go ahead and refresh my hairline moisturize, my hair and all of that, and you guys will be seeing that in an upcoming video. I really hope that this video was helpful and you guys learned something new and I will see you guys in my next video
