Lagertha Vikings Warrior Ponytail How To

Nearly every episode of Vikings, we get another great Lagertha hairstyle to marvel over. This is one from back in season 2, and is unique in that it's one of the very few styles where she has all her hair tied up. It's a great option for when you want a spicier, edgy ponytail to wear!

By the way, if you want to get a triple barrel waver like they use on Kathryn Winnick, the show stylists use one like this: https://amzn.to/2WvPS4s

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Hair Length: at least arm pit length

Materials: teasing comb or hair bump, hair ties

Skills needed: Dutch braid

Time cost: 20-50 minutes

ideal hairtype: straight or wavy

Hey everyone and welcome back to see the Blitz hair styling today we're finally gon na do another black fit video from the History Channel show Vikings. This is a warrior shield, maiden ponytail, that lagertha wears when she's coming back from her raid with Ragnar. At the end of season 2, if you'd love to learn how to do this, really edgy and unique ponytail style keep watching as with many lagertha hairstyles. The crux of this look is the volumize pompadour on top and the Dutch braids on the side of the head. But if you look close, what really makes the Viking style special? Is the texture and braiding detail? That'S artfully incorporated so to get an authentic replication of leg, arthas warrior ponytail. Let'S first make some of these hair details. Specifically, lagertha has a few small accent braids on top, so the first step is to take very small amounts of hair from your front hairline and braid these to the ends. You can see here that I'm making three braids that are roughly spaced evenly, but not too evenly so that they don't look unnaturally symmetric. Also, I'm not putting any hair ties on these braids. That'S because small braids have enough surface friction to hold themselves together, we'll be undoing some of this braiding later anyways. Now that we have the accent braids, let's make the pompadour separate off a panel of hair on top of your head and tie the rest of your hair out of the way for now after using some texture spray to improve the effectiveness of teasing. I take small horizontal sections of this top hair and backcomb there's a ton of back combing in this show. If you haven't noticed, however, if you want to avoid back combing because you're afraid of tangles or breakage, you can, alternatively, get a foam hair bump like this. To drape your top hair over whatever way you choose to volumize the hair, once you're done, you should pull it all back along with the accent braids smooth it on top and then clip at your crown for now. Next, it's time to do a lot of Dutch braiding in the final look, there will be four tears of Dutch braids on either side of your head, so to make the first one draw apart to section off the top quarter of your hair on me, this is About halfway between my pompadour in my ear, I then tie up the rest of my hair to keep it separate for now to do a Dutch braid take a small amount of hair from along the hairline and split it into three strands: leave the outside strands. Underneath the middle one in an alternating order, but with each weave, you should also add in a little bit more hair to the Strand. The Vikings Dutch braids are very detailed, so adding very small amounts of hair at a time and keep the braid tight. When you braid it in all the hair in this section and you've reached the hanging hair from the pompadour at the back of your head, stop adding in any more hair and finish the braid normally to the ends again. No need to tie this braid off with a hair tie, because it's small and we're going to unbraid some of it later make another Dutch braid. The same way on the other side of your head then make the second tier of Dutch braids with the next quarter of hair. This means parting, the hair horizontally at about the level of your ear. Do one Dutch braid on one side and another one on the other side of your head, then make tier 3 by dividing the rest of your hair in half horizontally, Dutch braid, both sides and finally, for tier 4, Dutch braid, the hair. You have left at the nape of your neck. All this Dutch braiding will take a while so make sure you have at least half an hour or so to do this hairstyle now that you're all braided up, though a last step is to make the ponytail unclip the pompadour hair at the first tier of Dutch Braids to it and tie this up with a ponytail holder, make a second ponytail below this one by gathering up the rest of the braids and tying them together then undo any braiding that is still in the ponytail past the hair elastics. Finally, lagertha has more texture and volume in this ponytail look, so I'm going to tease the base of both ponytails to achieve that in the show. Her hair is waved with one of those triple barrel wave irons, but I don't have one of those. So this is my plan B. If you do have one use that on your pony tail, hair or if your hair is wavy to begin with, just rock your natural texture, here's what the finished style looks like. I love the silhouette with volume on top and behind and the tight braids on the sides. If you also love this lagertha look give this video a thumbs up and try it on yourself. My instagram is at Siva plates underscore hairstyling. So if you take a picture, you can tag me to show off your lagertha hair, also check out these other tutorials. I have for other leg of the hairstyles, thanks for stopping by hope to see you again.

Trinity Ashe: I have thicker hair so this might be why, but I always find it hard to section my hair without it all tangling back together •~•

Cindy Panda: I love it <3 Lagertha is just sooo cool, and I will do a Coseplay of her this week... this tutorial will help a lot :* Please more Viking-Hairstyles. I love the show sooo much.

Kari DoRego: I look forward to doing this for my Viking costume this year!

InsightOutUnlimited: Thank you for all your tutorials! You are amazing!

Wintersmith.: Thank you very much!! This is an amazing hairstyle.

Adryele Lima: love it!! please keep doing vikings hairstyle tutorials!!

Flaggkatten: thank you so much, you're amazing! I love this hairstyle

Casey Cronan: I just saw a trailer for The Huntsman: Winter's War and noticed the plethora of amazing hairstyles, in case you were looking for inspiration for a tutorial. Thank you for your work!

Bec T: Yaaas, always here for fierce warrior lady hairstyles. Lady Jayne from ABC's Dracula had some truly fabulous up-dos; it'd be awesome if you could attempt one of those!

Valar Morghulis: Love your channel! Love your voice! I can listen all day! Plus your diction & pauses are perfectly melded into a very simple yet elegant sound which describes every hairstyle's particular steps in great detail while also adding in fun facts & tips between braiding etc.! Did I forget to mention that your hair is so very perfect? Well...it most certainly is! The color, length & thickness are so very beauty-full (Get it? Lol, beautiful & voluminous - full!)... & you can tell immediately how much care you're putting into making sure to have that awesome stuff growing out of our head look amazing! Again, you make it verry simple to follow along with you! I've never braided anything in my life let alone hair and now I can do some of thr simpler styles myself with one finger hovering over the 'Play/Pause - ⏯' ...! You make it fun as well...your soft voice & the concise instructions, along with the video tutorial as a visually guided experience, makes it so easy! Lastly, you allow a guy to self-braid his luscious locks* (not an exxageration* lol ) & make damn sure it's gonna look fantastic! Thank you so much! Keep up the great work & all these awesome styles! I hope you're a fan of Game of Thrones (A Song of Ice & Fire* Book Series)! There's a ton of pretty cool men's hairstyles & also some from the books not portrayed accurately in the TV adaptation...! I'd love to see how you'd play with the Daario Naharis which is in between a periwinkle & royal blue (apparently) colored hair (includes eyebrows & moustache/beard...it grows blue, it's not dyed, lol.). So, I guess my Requests would be more Last Kingdom & definitely Game of Thrones & then I'd have to think of other stories with awesome hair. Oh, and can you please do the Men's Dragon Mohawk Braid which doesn't finish with a little bun &/or sprout @ the end but instead 1 or 2 different braids the length of shoulder length & longer hair (which is also a completely shaved undercut). I wish I kept my hair, I'm so mad lol. I like both but...a full head of hair allows for much more, braided or NOT..! Thanks again beautiful! I'd love to see you go full Sansa with her Northern styled, or any medieval, clothing. Haha, as if no clothing would be an option..oh my, lol. Sie schöne Erdbeere Ingwer Dame! Super Kanal Mädchen! Du Erdbeer Ingwer, du! Ich wünsche dir einen schönen Tag - du bist so schön!!❤✌

Lind Eco: Wow that looks really beautiful!

Dessan Ojala S.: I LOVE this look!!!

S K: is this her natrual hair color? It's the most beautiful i've ever seen!!

WildGans91: I love your Lagertha hairstyles! Wear them on mediaval Festivals and markets and everyone is jealous and asks me to do them in their hair

gabcarol8: very clear video & awesome hairstyle! keep it up!

Marshall Kell: I'm a guy with long hair, and I'm just getting into braiding. I plan on doing something very similar, but more masculine, like this to my hair on a regular basis. (two dutch braids on the sides, and a larger collective braid on the top. I'm still working out exactly how I want the look) Any tips or suggestions? Great video!

Evae: Someone’s been reading my kindergarten dream journal! I know this woman who runs an aerial silks thing and she has her hair dyed dark purple (her natural color is a really dark brown, almost black, so it fades nicely) and she always has her hair up in these awesome braided ponytails.

Gabriela Marramaque: So gorgeous! :D

Mary H: Dang you look fabulous! I tried this tonight and I think I need to go with fewer Dutch braids on the sides because my hair is so thin and fine. But I’m gonna try again <3

Jessica Ennew: This is amazing!

Gloomy Skywalker: Love it! <3

Jackie Baucom: Such a beautiful hair style! Looks like a lot of work though.

Lya Numy: for the beginning i tried it with only one dutchbraid on each side :) and i got there after some time xD But for the first try it looks awesome! thx for the tutorial :)

Sehka Isham: I really have to get better at braiding the sides of my head ! Dutch braiding so tight and detailed feels so hard ! (actually my hair stay "divided" between the strand in the braid and the one i add, i have the same problem with thin fishtail braids) i think i'm missing something but i'll do it !!! By far my favorite Lagertha hairstyle !

Karla Käse: I find it sooo hard to french oder dutch braid the sides beginning with the little baby hair. I'm able to braid with longer strands, no matter how tiny, but the struggle with the baby hair always makes my braids fall apart. :(

Victoria: I'm growing out my hair after having a pixie for a few years.. Been growing for a few months so isn't quite there yet.. Definitely coming back to your videos

abby :D: I have quite voluminous hair so I think the ponytail would look pretty cool also I absolutely adore viking hairstyles not only from the show but in general if I tie my hair up its only in a viking fashion unfortunately I don't have time for it everyday

Vivienne Aurelious: I have noticed my arms get really tired and I can't get a feel for dutch braiding. I try doing it in front of a mirror but I cannot for the life of me see what I'm doing and because of it my neck or arms start hurting and end up with messy hair and not a braid.

Akechi Mitsuhide: Could you do some Dragon Age hairstyles? There are some nice braidy ones, even for the men.

Annika: You're so good. Could you do some hairstyles from once upon a time :)

Bee Teka: I love it! I would wear it often but it looks more like a fighter and less than a "normal" mom - plus I never have even half an hour in the bathroom. :(

FrugalMummy: Thankyou, this is great :)

*Datrix*: this is perfect for thin hair ppl!!! thanx!

Mireia: LOOOOOVE IT!

Irene Llàcer: I'd love to see an Aloy hair tutorial from you! Do you think you'll do one some day?

Michelle: gonna attempt this so i look like a warrior on graduation:D

Madelaine: Please do Torvi's hair from Vikings Season 3 Episode 8!!

Öykü Özer: My mom's hands are gonna hurt

Unnamed .Anonymous: "Make sure you have half an hour" I'm over here thinking she's going to say 2 hrs. I'm 28, I'll just convince my mom to do my hair. LOL

Arya Forestelf: Tutorial for Alice's hair from Seventh son please!!

PewPewCat: I miss having long hair so bad...

Kittybearxo: Can you do Octavia Blake’s warrior hairstyle from “The 100” it’s a similar style

Lyllou Popova: Tu es magnifique <3

Melo: I don't know if you've done it already but could you do Elise's hair from Assassin's Creed Unity

Red Death: I'm a guy and been unable to learn to dutch braid since you first posted this video lol any tips? I feel real sad I always do a generic version of this cause I can't dutch braid.
