In any event, you are still interested in finding out the different tools that you may need in order to make your braiding experience so much more easier. Now wear yourself, man, i've got you covered in this video, i'm going to be sharing with you, nine essential tools that you are absolutely definitely going to need. If you want your braiding experience to be seamless. So if you're interested in a video like that, please keep on watching helen's everyone and welcome to my channel before we begin. Please give the video a big thumbs up. It really helps me out a lot and, if you're not subscribed, please consider subscribing anyways when you're, not no one manga long talking. Let'S begin all right, so you just washed your hair. We'Re not gon na go through the whole washing um preparation for braiding hair. I'M going to assume that you just wash your hair you've moisturized it you've added your oils, you've done your deep treatment and your deep conditioning and all of that which i may or may not go through in another video. Let me know in the comment section down below, if you're interested in a video like that, but i'm assuming that you've done all of that already your blow dryer here and you are just ready to start braiding right, one of the first things that you're going to Need is actually various types of combs now these are the three types of combs that i normally use. I have a wide tooth comb. I have a rat tail comb that has a plastic end and i have another rat tail comb that has a wire end. Now this is all up to preference, it's all up to you, whatever you choose to part with, but i always tend to part with a rat tail comb that has a wire end. I feel like i get the neatest parts when i use a comb like this. Now, i'm not going to be using the teeth any at all to detangle my hair, i'm actually just using these combs for parting after i have parted and everything i go in with my white tooth comb and comb out. That section and the reason why i use a white tooth comb is because sometimes i may choose to braid my hair on blow dried hair or i may choose to braid my hair on just stretched. Um not blow dried hair. Just wash my hair air dry it and then start braiding. It'S up to you. It'S your preference all depends on how it is that i'm feeling on that day, if i do have the extra time to blow dry my hair, i will, but if not, i'm going to go straight into braiding, my hair. Sometimes i use this counterpart because this tip is actually a little bit more softer to use on my scalp. I do think i have like a sensitive scalp so at times when i use the wire rat tail comb, it kinda it kind of feel uncomfortable. It feels as if i'm digging into my scalp at times, so i may use this first and then i clean it up with this. It all depends on your preference and, as you can see with this comb, it has like a little indent right here. You can actually use that for parting also, so you can use the tip of this or you can use the ends or you can use the ends, but these are the combs that i like to use. Whenever i'm going to start braiding, my hair, you are absolutely going to be needing clips to braid in your hair, and these are the clips i'm talking about. I have two kinds here. I think this is called a dragon clip or a claw dragon claw, i'm not sure, and then you have this, i'm not sure what these are called, but these are the two types of i call them sectioners. These are the two types of sectioners that i use. I know it all depends on your preference on what it is that you want to use to clip away your hair. I like using this one, because i get less snagging when i use this one. This one does the job. Also, as you can see it has, this is a part that can contour to the amount of hair that you will be putting in the section. So, for example, if you're gon na put this away. That is how you would like section it off with the claw clip or you can use this so it it all depends. It all depends on the situation i i like using both of them, both of them get the job done to me. I don't know any other sections that really would get the job done other than these two kinds. You can. Let me know in the comment section down below: if you have any other sections that you may want to use, but whenever you're braiding, your hair, you have to take control of the platform of the area of the surface area. You don't want the hair mixing together, because then your parts are not going to be neat. Your braiding is not going to be neat, nothing will go well if you don't section your hair. Now you may or may not choose to use these sections, because you can always twist away your hair, but it is going to take a longer time. Just buy the sectioners and don't trust me in order for me to get a smooth, seamless, braid. I like to use a wax. Now i am using the wax on the on the edges of the air of the hair in order for it to kind of smooth it because, as you know, as natural hair individuals, if you have natural hair um, when you are braiding your hair, it tends to Be really curly and if it is really curly it's going to stick out of the braid and the braid is not going to look as neat as possible. So in order for the braid to look neat, you need a wax. You need a wax to kind of smooth in the hair so that when you start braiding it is smooth. Now you can either choose to smooth in the edges of your braid on our own or, and you can stop there or you can take some more of the product and smooth it along your natural hair. That will definitely give you the best results. If you smooth it down your natural hair, so that whether you are twisting or braiding um, it is not going to poke on any at all and that tip is especially beneficial if you are doing passion twists, because i don't as you i'm not sure. If you know about passion twist does not really work well with natural hair. It always sticks out. Trust me. I'Ve done a video on it right here, go and check it out if you're interested, but definitely you need a wax now you don't have to get this wax. This is the wax that i use. You know it has a sticky consistency. You need to get something that has a sticky consistency. This is not the only wax on the market you may want to use, maybe like a jam or you know a style and jam. I think that's what it's called, or just a let's jump by dark and lovely whatever splots your boat, but you have to ensure that it is a wax that will not leave a white residue on your hair, and that is very, very important. Some of these waxes case in point this one, which is why i'll never buy it again, leaves a white residue on your scalp. And it's going to look like you have dandruff as if your hair dirty and you don't want that - to ensure it's going to take some trial and error. But it is worth it ensure that you get a wax that does not leave a wide cast on your hair, but you definitely need this if you are going to be braiding your hair, all right, so the next thing that you're definitely going to need before you Even start the braiding process, i absolutely absolutely recommend that you use a thread wrap now. It doesn't necessarily have to be a thread. Rack like this. I'Ve seen other variations that i will put on the screen, so you could use any one of those any one that would be easier for you to use, but a thread rack is essential because you would use it to kind of separate the hair so that when You'Re breathing you're, not there separating the hair every single time that your part here, so you just put the hair. Oh it's upside down. You just put the hair, it comes with a stand, so you can just stand it up on your table and just put the hair on it in the different portions that you want and hang everything on it and trust me. This is a lifesaver. It'S gon na save you so many hours of brain if you pre-section your hair, especially the fact that it has all of these rules. Trust me, you could probably do the back of your head with all of these, depending on the style, but yeah definitely invest in something that is able to pre-section your hair properly, so that it can just go too smooth when you're braiding we're gon na go through. Here and i'm actually going to be showing you the two types of hair that i like to use. This is not a sponsored video, but i really wanted to come on and show you guys the hair that i like to use because it has been trial and error. But i have found two types of hair that i really like and um they're very easy to braid with so smooth. If you've watched my videos before in the past, you'll notice that i use these here all the time all the time because they're that good. So the first hair that i'm gon na recommend is this expression twist it up. I like using this hair when i'm doing um styles like these, that do not require like hot water setting or anything like that, and that will actually mimic my own natural hair. So i definitely like using this hair, doing like kinky twists or spring twists, or any type of twisted hairs that i love using this hair. If i'm going for that kind of style, it has like a natural kind of texture, as you know, and it really does mimic or natural hair. It'S easy to work with it's free section, and i love that about this here, so i always use this hair also when i'm doing other straight styles, i love using the expression here this expression here that is pre-stretched. It'S pre-stretched and it's 50 inches long long like this, so back in the day when we used to buy hair and we used to have to feather the ends and all of that we don't have to do that anymore. So i hair like this definitely saves you time. Like i said if you are braiding your hair, you don't have to use this particular hair, but i would recommend that you get a hair that is pre-stretched like this. It will save you a ton of time, depending on the style that you want to do, of course, but pre-stretched hair a winner in my book winner. So the next thing that you're definitely going to need, which is actually a given, but i'm still going to recommend it here - is a mirror. This is the mirror that i use it's not the best mirror, but it's the mirror that i use for now. I am looking to upgrade my mirror um. This doesn't this. This has a light on it, but i don't have any batteries in it right now, but this lights up. I got this mirror at five below not a good mirror. Trust me: it's not a good mirror. It'S not a glimmer. I'M not gon na sit here and recommend anything to you. That is not good. This is not a good mirror. Get a nice mirror that maybe has a zoom attached to it. You know a five-time zoom four times room at 10 times room. So you can actually see when you are parting, your hair. Now i have been on youtube looking at like different persons braiding their hair - and i have come across this like 360 - mirror that you may want to invest in um. It'S a mirror that will allow you to see the back of your head. The sadder head, the front head um i feel like it is like an ingenious tool that you know you could definitely use when you are braiding your hair. I can't really recommend it because i haven't used it and i'm not going to recommend anything to you that i haven't tried, but i mean, if you have tried it before, leave some positive comments in the comment section below. So people can know that it's actually a good product. I can see from face value to actually be a good product, but i don't know for sure i don't know if it will make a difference, but you can consider investing in a mirror like that. I would recommend a mousse now. This is a little bit controversial in my eyes, because some school of thoughts say that you don't need a mousse to do your hair and other schools. I thought say that um, you need a mousse like you need a mousse to lay down your hair. I mean it does do that, but i mean the fact that you're, using the wax like the wax, lays down your hair. So what is the most going to lay down, but i like feeling the foam and the coldness on my scalp, and you know i like using a mousse as a finisher so to each his own. Don'T let anybody depression pressure you into thinking that you need a moose to finish your hair. You do not, but if you choose to use that mousse you may i mean it's not going to spoil the hair. I mean it's not going to add our subtract to the hair at all, but it it does add to the experience of getting your hair braided so to each his own. Also, what i like to use is a hairspray, and i like using this one from shea butter cantu shea butter, because it smells really nice. It smells so good. I like using this on my hair trust me i mean you may wish to use this. The mousse does add shine to your hair already. This adds shine, also um, so i mean to each his own. You don't necessarily need all of these to really do your hair, but, like i said it adds to the experience of the whole braiding process. So, if you're here, for the experience, definitely invest in those two finishing touches, whenever you're doing your hair and last but not least, the last tool that you're going to need in order to braid your hair seamlessly smoothly and efficiently is patience. You need patience if you're going to braid your hair or, if you're, going to braid anybody else's hair. The braiding process is not something that well, it all depends on the style, but it's not something that you can do in 15, 20 minutes to half an hour. No, you have to invest at least depending on the style, at least at minimum two hours from start to finish. I'M gon na talk from washing your hair from the whole hair washing process at least two hours right. You need to have patience, don't be fooled by the videos on youtube with the people them that post their 10 minute videos and think that the hairstyle is gon na. Take 10 15 minutes to do it is not. It is not going to take such a short amount of time. You need to invest in patience. Time is the master, and patience is a virtue. Even if it takes you two days to finish your hair, you need to unlock the two days to finish your hair, especially if you're a beginner right. So those are my top nine essential tools that you absolutely need in order to braid your hair, seamlessly and efficiently.
