Hi guys welcome back to the channel. Today'S video is on these beautiful braids that I did myself. Let me tell you something: I am sick and tired of booking appointments with these hair braiders and for them to cancel last minute we're sick of it as a population. We need to come together and figure out how to fix this problem, because I had to do my hair last minute, I'm currently in La I'm on a trip and I booked an appointment, make sure I was communicating with the stylist and then, of course, something's always Wrong, of course, they are so unprofessional anyways. So this video is on these beautiful braids that I did myself and I love how it turned out. Of course, I needed to film it and share with you guys, if you don't know how to braid in this day and age. I really feel for you, because these hair stylists are not loyal. This is what the braids look like. I love the pattern. It'S giving me black girl and her braids, it's giving me energy, so if you're interested then keep on watching foreign, shall we before we get started, I had to take a little reel, but huge fell on my part because I never took the ending so never mind. Anyways, I think I washed my hair the day prior, because you know I was supposed to go, see somebody and can you believe she did not even want to give you my deposit back, even though she canceled on me the night before my apartment. But one thing I'm not about to do on God's abundant Earth is fight someone over twenty dollars, so she can keep it when it comes to braiding. Your hair parting, to me at least, is everything you can make or break your style. So you want to spend some time parting, your hair. I am taking forever to do literally a straight part in the front of my head, and this is what you need to do. You got to do it over and over and over until you get it right, but sometimes you get tired and you move on, even though it's not perfect, but that's okay. I like to keep myself organized by working in sections. So I'll start with a part down the middle and then from ear to ear, which will leave me with three big sections and then I'll start working on the back section and for this particular section I want to divide it into three. So I'm going to do my first part and make sure that it's straight by using a mirror, a handheld mirror, is going to be your best friend if you're braiding, your hair yourself, especially when it comes to the back of your head. I have seen some of these mirrors that people get from Amazon, which you can hook in the back of your door and be all fancy with it, but I don't have one so I use a handheld mirror once you use the mirror, you'll be able to tell Where you need to make adjustments and for this particular style, I want my parts to go diagonally. So that's what I'm going to do and I'm also going to use my fingers to help direct where the comb sugar, where my parts should go. Sometimes it doesn't turn out straight once again, once you use your mirror, you'll be able to tell, and then you can go ahead and part your hair again. So I spend a lot of time parting to make things easier on you. If you are a beginner, I would advise doing straight Parts, because that's a lot easier, but you know I got to keep things a little spicy now in terms of products, I'm actually not going to use a lot of products, I'm not going to use oils or Butters or anything like that, which is pretty shocking for me, because typically, I will use a butter to braid my hair. I'M only going to use a mousse to make sure that the parts are clean and crisp. I'M also going to go in with some shine and jam. This is the hair that I'm using it comes in a value pack, so there's a bunch of hair in just one pack and it's already feathered, which makes it easier on me. So I prep the hair. First, by basically pulling a bunch of small sections of hair and putting it all over my bathroom all over the bathtub all over my counter, because once I start braiding, I don't want to stop the braid. I just want to be able to keep going, and you also don't want to stop your braids, especially at the roots, because you want your roots to be tight now to braid. I start the braid as I normally would, and then I start to Loop, small sections of the hair with the braids. Now I hope you can watch and see what I'm doing. As I proceed to braid my hair, I will Loop pieces of hair within the braids so that it gets thicker as I braid down and I'm gon na show you what I do exactly so that you can hopefully braid your hair yourself as well, and not let These hair stylists slash, hair, braiders disrespect you once your braid is as thick as you want it to be. You don't have to keep adding hair, but you want to braid your hair tight all the way down, especially where your natural hair ends, so that it's not puffy. Now the first row is done, so we are going to part the second row and once again I am using a handheld mirror to make sure that my parting is right and if it's not, I go back and I try to fix it. And sometimes it's not perfect, but that's okay, foreign part, all of the braids that's going to be in the row so that a they are even and B. I don't have to stop braiding once I start, it probably doesn't make much of a difference, but that's another way that I stay organized as I braid. So I part all of the braids and then braid the entire row. Now this is another look of how I Loop in the braids. As you can see, I started braiding my hair normally and with the finger that I have, I will Loop the fake hair around that finger. So the piece of hair that is on top of my finger will merge with my natural hair, that's on top and the piece of fake hair. That'S under that finger will merge with my natural hair, that's at the bottom and, as you can see, I'm showing you the finger that is available and ready to accept the fake hairs. So, every time I braid my hair, I will Loop in some of the fake hair and I'm going to keep adding fake hair until the section is thick enough and to my liking, foreign. The back of my hair is done, and this is what it looks like. I think it's looking pretty good. The front is a lot easier when it comes to parting, just because you can see what you're doing, but I still like to part a few sections at a time so that I don't have to stop after each braid. I make sure to add some shine and Gem to my edges and brush it into the braids here. I'M showing you exactly what happens if you don't pay close attention as you braid down the hair once your hair ends, especially if your hair is cut bluntly, then it's going to stick out of the braid there's two things you can do to help with. That is to make sure that you braid the hair tight, especially where your hair is ending, or you can also add some shine and jam down the strand of your hair so that it stays tucked in flawlessly within your braids, of course, with patience, time and determination. You are going to keep going, keep braiding until you're done your entire hair. You would have saved yourself probably 150 to 200. Yes, it's time consuming. Yes, you get better with each braid that you do and your hair will look beautiful and once you do your hair yourself, I feel like your hair - is well cared for no one's going to care for your hair as much as you do, you can put it In a ponytail, you can do half up half down, there's so many different styles. You can do with this, and The Parting turned out beautifully. So it's worth taking the extra time to make sure that your cards are clean. Alright, so I hope that you enjoyed this video. If you have a story about how a hair stylists left you high and dry, leave it down below and honestly when it comes to doing your hair. It'S all about practice. You need to do it over and over the first three braids are going to be a little wonky, but you're gon na find your way. Practice does not make Perfection. Practice makes improvements. Okay, so you have to keep going, keep doing it until you get it right. If your parts or your braids are not perfect honestly, who cares tell people to give you 50 feet? Okay, someone should not be all up in your scalp. Talking about your parts are not straight, and if they are then boundaries all right. Thank you. So much for watching this, video and I'll see you in my next one bye. Thank you.

Enn Vee: I would have left a negative review on the braider's page. There is no valid reason for her not to give you your deposit back.

Fine Natural Hair ROCKS: GORGEOUS!!! You did a really great job despite the annoying stylist situation!

Tamika Hicks: She should give you a refund or credit for the rescheduled appointment at least.

Cactus Flower: Girl you did way better job than a stylist!! She probably would’ve snatched your edges anyway! Consider it God protecting you from something bad happening to your hair and scalp she cancelled because mercy said no! ❤ the fact that she didn’t give you a refund shows how malicious she is anyway! Covid 19 pandemic taught us to be independent about our self care needs anyway let’s keep what we learned during covid 19 and save money by continuing to do our own hair, because who knows what else we will face in the future! Your hair came out beautifully! you don’t need no braider ❤

Tashiba Lampkin: If I ever learn how to braid on my own, it's bout to be on and popping.

Rosie Amelia: I learned to braid my own hair watching YouTube videos years ago. You did a beautiful job.

Satomi: Uhmm yea she’s weird for not giving you your money back. This is why I don’t let anyone touch my hair no more.. they either ask for too much or is just unprofessional

MsHoneyFly11: You did a great job Jenn. You make me feel like I could prob do it myself. I never go to the shop for anything. I just take care of my own type 4 hair. I was just on FaceTime teaching my daughter how to French braid (cornrow) and she got it!!! I realized while teaching that the cornrow process is very similar to the idea of adding hair in the feed in process!

Tra'C: I hope that ill gotten $20 gets her where she wanted to go. Your hairstyle came out really nice, you didn't even need her!❤

Idowu Ajayi: Nicely done Jenn! If I may ask, how long did it take you to do the entire hair?

sunny j: The braiders in my area raised their prices. It used to cost $100-120 for box braids, now it’s $350-400. I get that it’s due to the times we’re in, but it’s still a lot! I braided my hair on my own for the first time last year when you did your protective style challenge, so I’m gonna do it again. Thank you for the video Jenn ❤

micarae: If I've said it once, I've said it a thousand times... y'all better get on YouTube University and learn some things before it's too late. There's absolutely nothing wrong with diy. If you want to treat yourself, pay someone else to do your hair, mow your yard, give you a mani/pedi, etc, that's perfectly fine! When you know how to do something yourself, YOU get to make the decision and you're no longer at the MERCY of someone else. Your braids look fantastic!

Isabel Santana: Girl, happend to me, one day before my vaca getaway, I washed and blow dry my hair, she Cancel the same day, and since I was leaving the day after, had yo spend styling my hair all day, from morning to night.

1GoldenBreeze: Great job braiding your hair they look gorgeous. It's ridiculous that the braider kept your money, but I don't blame you for not arguing with her for just $20. I only know how to braid my own hair, but not how to add extension hair. I've never had braids with extensions so I don't miss it. Don't know how to cornrow or flat twist either.

Donna Thomas: You did a great job Jenn. I do my own hair as well. I say my braids or any style I do on my hair are perfectly imperfect to me.☺️!!

Thea Wilson: Good job Jenn. You don’t need nobody to braid your hair. Do you ❤

MingToi Isaac: I've been braiding my hair since I was 14. I went to a braider once in my 20's. Never had anyone braid my hair since. I would like to have a braider in my circle though. The parting is more challenging at my age ❤️

faucikillspuppies: If she's gonna keep your $20, then you at least better put her on blast online.

kim cothron: You did a great job. Many years ago, I used to go to the African shop every 6 wks to get twists. It never mattered how many times I told them not to braid my edges or not to make them too small, they still did it. Since I travel for work alot, 1 time one of the twists in the front section of my head slipped out and my twigs of hair were sticking out that I couldn't disguise it. I got on YT and watched a few videos and guess what? I was able to braid that twist back in my hair. Needless to say, I've never gone back to the African shop ever again from that day forward. Costs me about $12/pk a hair and about 3-4hrs of my own time. No, they don't last for 6 wks since I don't/can't braid them tightly, but guess what, I still saved a lot of money and cared more for the health of my hair by doing it myself. Think of all the money i've saved over the years. I'm a very short shaved blond bombshell now, so couldn't attach extension hair if my life depended on it.

Johna Rhodes: I thought I was ready for sister locs. Went for the consultation and everything. Put down $100. deposit. Six weeks before the scheduled appointment, I canceled. Yep, she kept my deposit. I filed a dispute with my credit card and was able to recoup losses. But she filed a dispute so I am still in limbo.

T Simpson: Your experience is why I am now natural. I had a standing appt either for a relaxer touchup or to color my roots. My stylist started a side hustle that started growing and started canceling the day before my appt to do her side hustle. I understand stuff comes up but tell me in advance. It happened one too many times. Long story short, I started buying my own color at Sally's and then I transitioned to natural. I didn't like having to depend on someone that was constantly cancelling, and I didn't want to go through having to find someone else I liked. I let her trim my ends twice while transitioning and then I learned how to do it myself. The stylist now does her side hustle full time. I left about 3 months before she stopped doing hair.

Tashiba Lampkin: She didn't give the deposit back after SHE canceled. Ma'am! I hope the $20 was worth it because I promise that type of behavior cost a person hundreds of dollars in the future. I know a good braider through my cousin and I thank God for her.

Tholang Keebine: I always do my braids, and sadly no one ever believes me

Jessica Smith: I WISH I could learn how to do this. Looks great!!!

Confessions of a Jaded Optimist : Your a better person than me because I will fight someone of $20 lol jk

Thembani Shiburi: Jenn you keep inspiring to get better at braiding my hairt thank you for this, Irma try it as soon as I have enough hair to braid

J B: I had a stylist message me about feeling sick right before my appointment at 1015, my appointment was at 1030...and I drove 30 minutes to get to my appointment that was in a different city. I did my own hair for my wedding haha.

chinenye igwe: Beautiful braid Jenn, l honestly want to know how to braid my own hair

J B: I find the pros of doing my on hair is that I can control what products go into my own head.

Michele Live And In Color: Nice! That looks REALLY good. I wanna try this now.

Kathy Flemmings: Yes gurlll!!!! You did an awesome job

Dainielle W: Hell no, she would have had to give me my $20 back. Or I would report her for theft.

King Chameleon’s Eye: Yep. That’s the whole reason I started recording hair videos ahahaha, no stylist touched my hair in yearssss

TheEagleslover: Oh no ma’am she needs to give you a refund!! But I get it pick your battles.

Audrey Saunders: Your braids look awesome!! Too bad for that braider!! It’s her loss ‍♀️

Nombulelo B Mini-Matsio: Jenn you always deliver babe. Love you for this

Tyrona Alston: Yesssss Sis! You did your thang! ❤

0tismadaline: You did absolutely great and you are looking absolutely gorgeous

T Mom: You did a GREAT job!!! And, you saved yourself money! Nice going!

Mariam Bey: Good for you! Nice job !!

S Maxwell: Luv your braids.. I think you did a really good job! .. I hate you didn’t get your deposit back.. smh

Yvonne Murphy: Girrrrrl... BRAVO no stylists were murdered nor called out dey name in the making of this video you're beautiful. and we're here for the personal satisfaction you must be revelling in

Kisha Rivers: You have always stressed that parting makes the difference. I love a style much better when the parts are nice.

Patricia Jenkins: Hello Jenn excellent job I have to learn how to braid my hair like you. I do know how to do crochet braids.

Star 01: Right, sometimes its best to do your own hair. Cause only are self knows whats best for our hair. It is some rude disrespectful hair stylists out here. In the world and dont nobody be having time for that. Looks good girl thats how I be sometimes to.

Cheshire Dj: You have serious parting skills!

Corlissa: Came out nice

Abbey Niles: Cute

CHANNELCHRISSI: Wow! So you don't comb your hair at all??
