Today, i'm going to show you guys some actually helpful tips on how to do a chunky, dutch braid on yourself. If you've tried to do a dutch braid before and you always end up looking like this, there are a few things that you're doing wrong that you can fix to easily turn this kind of really tiny, skinny braid into this super chunky. Sexy braid, even if you have really fine hair like me before we start, if you want to learn how to do your own hair at home, like a hairdresser, then definitely subscribe down below. I launch a video every single week and i also read all of your comments. I try to make the content that you guys are always requesting and things that you'll find helpful tip number one part deeper than you normally would in that first, dutch braid, that i showed you it's still a dutch braid. It'S still done properly. There is not enough hair in the braid to make the braid big. You need to find a way to get as much hair into that braid as you can and fan it out to make it look really big. This is my natural part, and i'm going to show you where i part my hair, when i'm doing a dutch braid. The nice thing about doing this as well. Is that when you go way over your part, you're going to get a whole bunch of volume in here a whole bunch of fullness, and that's going to also give the illusion that the braid is chunkier and thicker to begin with tip number two you wan na Make sure that you're, actually dutch braiding and you're, not french braiding by mistake? I see this all the time. There is a difference between a french braid which looks like this, and a dutch braid which looks like this. A french braid is when the braid actually sits under the hair, and a dutch braid is when the braid sits over the hair. If you want that, like fanned kind of heart effect, then you want to do a dutch braid, not a french braid. The difference between a dutch braid and a french braid is whether you take the side hairs and you braid them over the middle or under the middle. So the first one i'm going to show you is how to do it with a little bit of your fringe. Left out, because a lot of people like softness around the face and the second way that i'm going to show you is how to do it without any of the fringe left out, so that you end up with like a full kind of crown. Look across the face, so the first thing you're going to do is you're going to slice your first section through the top. Now you can see that it's fairly long, but it's about one inch. This way now, i'm gon na take that section. I'M gon na divide it into three parts: one: two and three: now i'm gon na take the side section and i'm gon na go under the middle. Now i'm gon na take the other side and i'm gon na go under the middle. Now i'm gon na add some hair to this side section by scooping and i'm gon na take that section and go under the middle. Now i'm going to grab some hair. Add it to that braid and i'm going to take it under the middle now, because in this one we want to leave some of the fringe out. I'M going to skip a little bit through the front. But i'm still going to add a bit of hair right behind that front piece and i'm going to take it under the middle now, as you can see, when i'm grabbing the hair to incorporate into this back piece, i'm adding it quite far back in my head, Because i really want to increase the density of the amount of hair that i'm sticking in the braid in order to make the braid chunkier. Now, when i get to the end, i just finish off my braid and there you have a dutch braid tip number three. Now you need to fan and expand your braid. This is what takes it to the next level, so we incorporated as much hair as we could to make the braid as thick as possible. We'Ve parted way over on the side, but now we have to fan this out. I like to start with it tight so that i get a nice clean, controlled braid. But then, when i'm done braiding i go back and i literally pull it out to make it really really wide and then at the very end i just slide it under the hair and secure it with a bobby pin and just like that, you got a really Beautiful chunky dutch braid, with some fringe left out for softness at the front in like five minutes now, i'm going to show you another way to do this. Look without leaving any hair around your face, so without leaving any softness around your face. You'Re, just gon na want to braid that whole entire section, but there's another tip, tip number four. You can use a micro crimper. You can buy micro crimpers on amazon. You can buy them at sally's. The one that i have is this guy sorry, my plug is all the way over there. So it's kind of just floating here, but this is the avanti ultra ceramic micro crimper. I'M just going to turn the heat down, because my hair is so fine. What you can do before you braid is. You can actually crimp the sections you want to braid a micro crimper doesn't give like a wave. It really gives a very, very intense crimp. This makes your hair look. Super super full super super fast. So what you're gon na do is you're. Just gon na grab the sections of the hair and you're going to run the crimper through it. Now you can instantly see how much lift i have with the micro crimper. It just gives your hair a lot more like volume and grit. Now, what we're going to do is we are going to go under the middle again, adding hair and not leaving anything out in the front. Now that we have that nice neat, dutch braid, we can go ahead and fan it out. If i'm finding that i have more flyaways than what i would like, then i just grab a hairspray and then i tame them down a little bit, and there is your second look. Thank you guys so much for watching. I hope that you learned something new today.
