Kanekalon Hair Prep

Step by step instructions can be found on my blog:

Hi um, i'm here today to tell you how i prep the kanekalon hair before installing it for my daughter's dog jack, okay. The first thing i do is, of course take the hair out the package, but i leave the rubber bands on it. Um the way the hair comes, it's like in a big jumbo braid and has a rubber band on the top and then one on the bottom. So i take it out of the package and i leave the rubber bands on it. I run a sink of warm water like not tap it warm, but not hot hot, but like between hot and warm, like you know anyway, so i run a sink of warm water and then i pour one cup of the white distilled vinegar in the sink full Of water, i put the hair in the water and push it down so that it is completely immersed in the water, and i allow it to soak for 20 minutes and i usually do two bundles at a time. Last time i did three. I had three packs of hair, but i had already prepped one of the bundles from when i braided her hair before so. I usually put two no more than two at a time after the hair soaks for the 20 minute time period. I remove the hair and i rinse it under some warm to kind of warm cool water and let that water out the sink, because it'll have a film like a white film on top from the um coating that was on the kanekalon hair. I let all that water out the sink, and i run a new sink of warm water, and i put about a fourth to a third of a cup of some whatever your favorite conditioner is, and i don't even use a leave-in conditioner. I use the last time. I used the suave naturals and the scent was the cherry blossom. I believe that's what it's called i'll put a picture in, so you can see so then i let that soak for an additional 20 minutes and um. Let the water out the sink rinse, the hair up under some cool water kind of dap it dry in a um with a a towel, just kind of dab it, and then i hang it. The um. The hair comes in a braid, so there's like a a rubber band on the bottom end and there's a rubber band on the top. I take the bottom in rubber band off and i just drape the hair over a hanger and i put a towel down beneath. So if it drips, it won't get, you know anything wet and then i let it dry overnight. Then, after it's dry overnight, i take a big paddle brush and i brush the hair out with the paddle brush and after that, it's ready for me to start braiding with, and it's really soft and it has a great smell to it. It doesn't smell like vinegar or anything like that, and that's that's how i prep her hair. So anyway, if you guys have any questions you can just post below but um, i had never tried braiding her hair with the kanekalon hair, not being prepped, because once i was reading up on it and finding out how it had some kind of a coating or Chemical on it, oh my gosh, here's jackie, oh, my goodness, okay, once i found out that it has that coating on it, i was like i just didn't even want to take a chance. It doesn't it's the trip. It doesn't take that long. I don't mind taking a little bit of time to um. You know soak it to get the coating off so yeah. That'S it um, like i said. If anybody has any questions just post below so much for watching and i'll see you next time you

ShazzieBe: Hi Sis! Thanks for sharing. It's good to prep the hair because the coating for some hair is slightly alkaline and can cause breakage.

1RollN: Thank you...very informative. Prior to this video, the synthetic hair would make my daughter's hair itch during a time out she was scratching her hair instead of listening to the play. Thanks again !!!!

BA Waits: ... and we DO NOT want breakage! My daughter absolutely loves this style during her transition. :)

BA Waits: Thanks for watching! :)

Tiffany Bennett: I thought you was Tamar Braxton at first lol.
