Linwood Darkis shows how to dutch braid for beginners. In the video, Linwood shows an underhand braiding technique on a cosmetology mannequin, followed by a step by step instruction on dutch braiding for beginners. Linwood demonstrates braiding in this manner because Dutch braiding is an underhanded braiding style, so underhand braids are the foundation of dutch braids. The purpose of this channel is to educate people on how to simplify proper hair care, and teach them how to do hair and styling techniques.Linwood is a licensed cosmetologist and cosmetology instructor, and he teaches high school aged students on a daily basis.

Bam bam Linwood here and today I'm going to be showing you how to Dutch braid on a head of manikin hair like this here, so if you're interested in that stay tuned and let's dive right in alright. So this is a tutorial for absolute beginners. So I'm going to be showing you how to do an underhand braid first, because underhand braiding is the basically as a step before you would get into Dutch braiding. So if you're not familiar with how to underhand break stay tuned. For this part, if you're already familiar with it, you can go ahead and skip board up at a time stamp on the video to the part that you'll need to go to. I'M gon na show you how to do it. I suggest that you do it about ten times and then from there be able to move on into the other celebrating just so you can get comfortable with it first. So what we're going to do is separate this hair here into three strands. I'M gon na do so by taking my index finger and my middle finger here and we're just going to place those right on into that hair, and it helps us to create three similar size pieces in terms of size there. So we're going to go into again place those fingers on in there just like that, and then we can separate those strands off pretty easily. Now, I'm going to show you a couple of different ways to do underhand braiding, because you're going to need a couple of different hand, positions when you are braiding, your mannequin or your hair, a friend sis or whatever so you're, going to always with underhand braiding. We taking these outside strands under the middle piece, so with overhand braiding, you do the opposite with underhand braiding. Let me add a little bit more says outside piece with underhand braiding you're doing under that middle piece. So the middle piece is whatever strand is currently in the middle and that's going to be changing and alternating. So let's go ahead and dive right in I'm gon na start on the right side, because I'm right-handed, but you can start on the right or left whatever makes you more comfortable. So I'm going to go ahead and begin by taking that right side under the middle and then from there we're going to go left under the middle just like that, so right under middle left under middle. So you can see with this style here. I'M just kind of rotating my hand position and that's giving me that braiding technique there. Okay, so you would just kind of keep that positioning going on all the way down and through this style of braid. Now, I'm also going to show you with your hands up here like this. The Closer your hands are to the braid, the tighter that braids going to hold so in this instance, if we say it right under middle notice, the braid is not able to slip it. So now the whole braid is going to look tighter left under middle right under middle left under middle, and I want you to take notice. Look at how different the braid looks here versus how loose is looking up here. That'S based on hand position. So the closer your hands are to the braid, the tighter that whole braid looks the further away like when my hands were up here. They were further down the shaft of the hair. The looser the braid looks so I'm gon na go ahead and take this down I'll separate this hair into, because I like to teach how to do Dutch, braiding and French braiding with half the head. It'S a little bit easier for beginners to manage and then I'll pick back up. Okay, so we're gon na go ahead and begin on the top of this head of hair. So usually what I like to do is I like to teach with triangle sections of hair. So I'll typically pick up a strand about like this here, usually, I do like to pick up smaller pieces just because it looks more professional when you finish, but I don't want to make it too difficult for my beginners because is a beginner friendly tutorials, so we're Gon na keep it a little bit larger here now we're gon na take those same two fingers like we did earlier and we're just going to go ahead and place in and separate out that hair. If you feel like one of the strands needs a little bit more, you can steal from one and get to the other. That'S totally fine. Now, just like I was saying earlier, we're going to go ahead and place is here in hands, but then we're going to begin to take from one side under the middle strand or from the other side under the middle strand. Whichever side is more comfortable for you, so I'm going to begin on the right again because I'm right-handed - and it just makes me a little bit more comfortable - we're gon na go ahead and make sure all these pieces are smooth because the smoother this hair is a Neater, it's going to look by the way if the person that you're working on has more of a curly or kinky texture, it does help sometimes to blow that hair out with a blow-dryer and smooth it out. Some. It just makes a little easier to grip, and usually if the hair is more silky like this, you can mist it with just a little water. You can use a pomade or braiding gel to be able to give any hair a bit more grip, but the pomade or burning gel for any hair water. Typically for straighter hair textures don't smoke it just the light mist all right, so I'm gon na start on the right. We'Re gon na go ahead and take that under the middle I'm gon na smooth this hair out just making sure everything is nice and smooth. Then, from here I'm going to come from the left under the middle smooth it out, so you see those bubbles right there. We want to make sure those bubbles are nice and smooth that way. It gives everything a nice and neat appearance. So, if you'll notice for those two strands, we had hair coming from the outside of the section, but for this one here as we bring it under, there's no hair coming with it. So what we want to do is we want to slide our finger across to here we're gon na. Add in to that strand, that's going to pass underneath, smooth it out and pull it underneath the middle strand, then from there this strand here, I'm not really gon na be working with, so I'm just gon na ball. It up in my hand, I'm going to grab this strand here and then we're going to hold this one on the left side. While we begin to slide across the scalp pick up that hair smooth it out and add it into my outside strand over there, and we just gradually begin to pass that under the middle Griffin is here on the other side, we're going to begin to do the Same thing so sliding on the cross, picking up that here, smoothing out and passing under the middle and you'll notice, my finger does not come all the way across. You want to stop your finger when you're sliding across to pick up here. Stop it right about at the center, where you want that braid to be from there, I'm just going to go ahead and grip. This here, coming back to the other side sliding across pick up that hair, add it to the outside strand and we're gon na pass. It under the center now one of the key things that you want to keep in mind as you're working on this is trying to keep your size of your sections, pretty neat that you're picking up and pretty consistent in size. So if your sizes are all over the place, your braid is going to look like it's all over the place as well. So if you're picking up a big piece of small pease, a big piece, it tends to look a little wonky if you're sticking with similar sizes all the way through it, gives it a bit more of a neat, look and feel to it from net we're. Just coming back to the side doing the same thing now, if you want your braids to look even more tight, you can go ahead and use smaller subsections. So like these little pieces that we're picking up along the way, you can go ahead and use smaller sections up here like that, so I'm just moving this hair up, so you guys can see a little bit better, smooth a hair out and pass under the center. Now one thing that also noticed is, if you are working with this hair and it's your first time doing a braid like this, especially if you're accustomed to a different celebrating talk yourself through the process. Like I talked you through the process so k, Tong yourself, pick hair up on the right. Add it to the outside strand. Take it under the middle strand, move to the left pick hair up on the Left. Add it to the outside strand. Take it under the outside are under the middle strand into the middle move back to the right. It helps you to stay focused on where it is that you're going because a lot of times, if you're brand-new to style a braids, you are accustomed to working more. So with the creative side of the brain, but the problem is this: is a brand-new style of braiding for you, so you're not really able to tap into the creative as much yet. That being said, if you're appealing to the side of the brain, that's accustomed to learning and picking up new information first, you can go ahead and learn how to assimilate that information before you pass it over to the creative side and begin getting things a little bit More complex, ok, so I'm gon na go ahead and start taking some smaller pieces just so you can see the difference in what it looks like when you take smaller subsections versus larger ones. I want you to see how much this braid begins to look like it. Tightens up just for me taking smaller sections, so I'm going to go to a much smaller braiding size. This is one way for you to be able to make your braids look more neat and tight without having to grip or pull that hair tighter and cause any discomfort to yourself or your client. It just allows you to get a bit more of a neat outcome on there, not all so if you're braiding and you notice that your knuckles are beginning to hurt things like that, there's a high likelihood that you're gripping the hair little too hard soften up your Grip, some, you don't have to grip and do it real tight to where your hands are hurting, especially if you're doing this all the time. The last thing you want to do is cause any type of pain to your hands. As you are working, it can cause a lot of issues with your hands down the road, so this is with me using smaller subsections. So I don't know if you can tell the difference between like how much more snug it looks up here versus how much looser it looks right there. That'S literally just off of the size of the subsections getting smaller and also if you'll notice see how my braid stays in the center here, if you're noticing that your braids tends to like kind of flow downward on one side and kind of upward. On the other. Usually, what that means is your hands are positioned a bit differently. The braid ends up basically wherever you're placing those hands. So if I'm keeping my hands right in the center of this section, it's going to break down the center of this section. If I am keeping my hands a bit more like towards the upper portion, my braids are going to sit higher if I'm keeping them lower. They'Re gon na sit lower. So wherever you are positioning your body in your hands that that's where that hair tends to follow. Now, once you begin to move behind the ear, especially on a client, you want to go ahead and begin to tilt the head forward now on a mannequin. It doesn't matter because you are not dealing with any type of pain. Things like that, but with a live client, you have a few things to worry about in terms of causing issues with hair loss damage things like that from doing braids incorrectly or too tight. So we want to make sure that, as we're coming back here to the back of the head, that we are tilting that head forward because it stretches the skin on the neck that way as we're braiding. It'S not uncomfortable for the client and when they look down later, it doesn't feel excessively tight. This prevents you from getting any type of bumps pulling hair loss things like that along the nape of Nick, also, if you'll notice, when I get back here, because there's less hair here than there is on this side for me to work with I'm begin taking smaller Sections on this side of the braid and larger sections on this side, and it's just a gradual change so we'll just lightly go under here. I'M gon na pick up a bigger section on this side. I had it into the outside strand, pass that on under smaller section on this side, and I want to do that just to kind of keep the size of the braid balanced out. So I don't end up with a braid that begins. Turning at the end from having run out of hair to pick up on one side now, if you notice that this piece here is really bumpy, I don't know if you can catch that on camera or not, but you can kind of see the frizz and things So I'm just gon na stop rip all of this hair in my hand, smooth it all out and then from there I'm going to begin to pass under now. Of course, if you don't have fingernails things like that, you can use a comb as well. To give you very clean, precise partings, one of the things about Dutch braiding and French braiding that sets them apart is when you have clean and precise, consistent size partings. It helps to give more of a professional look to your braids and it just makes your quality level look significantly better, but while we're on the topic of quality, if you're going through the process of learning, I will tell you, even if you get frustrated, keep on Braiding, don't give up, don't take it down if it's looking messy, walk yourself through the process. Talk your way through it. Just like I talk you through it and continue braiding. I see so many students of mine that end up giving up and they are getting frustrated. They'Re, throwing mannequins are doing all sorts of stuff, but when it comes down to it, if you continue braiding and you work your way through that frustration, you'll see what's going on and you'll see what you need to work on and it allows you to gradually get Better and notice your progress, another thing that I always tell my students to do is your first braid take a picture of that that way, when you're doing your future braids moving forward, you have something to compare to so you can see your own growth and then That way, you don't get discouraged looking at it and thinking it doesn't quite look like it did in the video. It allows you to see exactly what your improvement is. I'Ve been doing this for almost all the Lord has been over 20 years now. I'Ve been braiding here, so it's gon na be a little bit of a learning curve for most individuals. I don't want you to compare your work to mine in terms of considering what your work should look like if you're just learning it's great for you to aspire to get there, but it's not gon na happen on the very first time so from there. I'M gon na switch into a standard, underhand braid and we're just braiding that on down the shaft of the hair and if you'll notice my hand position had to change, that's why I showed you the two different positions, because when I was up there my hand position Was more like this, but now as I've come down towards the bottom, I flipped that hand position and it turns into this here. I hope that this video makes sense if you learned something from it or you feel like it was beneficial. Samantha Rincon: Me: this doesn’t look to hard Me starts to do braid: oh god help me

Don Britt: Dad here - can not thank you enough for this. My daughter always feels so proud when her hair is done well (which isn’t often) and likes to show it off. I’ve been wanting to learn to do this sort of thing on the regular for her, but was too intimidated to try. Having hair that’s about half an inch long for most of my life, I have next to zero experience with any sort of hair styling. Your break down and tips throughout were *chefs kiss*. I appreciate your expertise and dedication to your craft.

Larina Vigil: FINALLY someone who can properly explain a braid! Thank you!

simplyella: me: since I’m in 7th grade i need to do more hairstyles for school rather than a bun! *looks up this vid* *2 minutes later* me: *never mind a bun is fine.*

Melisia Bowman: I've said it before and I'll say it again.....your voices so relaxing to listen to. I was all attentive and at the end I was straight chillin- not asleep, just calm. And don't think I didn't notice them fly design on the sleeve of your shirt.....yep I saw that! Nothing wrong with dressing up while at home. It's one of my favorite pastimes. And now I realize that I've been doing Dutch braids all this time and I do underhand braids. I need to go pull up your French braid tutorial and practice! Thanks Linwood!!!

People Vids Info: This was so helpful and relaxing

Lady Rumrunner: The Bob Ross of braiding; so mellow, encouraging, and his voice is just so relaxing.

Chelsie Bain: I have had alopecia for almost 11 years, so growing up I wasn’t able to have braids or anything exciting done to my hair. So I never learned, but now I have wigs Iv wanted to experiment. This channel has honestly saved my life. I, at 21 finally learns how to do a cute braided moment! Thank you so much this tutorial was so easy to listen and follow along too

Mayi Escobar: Omg you're such a good teacher! I braided my daughter's hair so well the first time but I'm a perfectionist and had to rewind more than a few times until I got it! I'll be on your channel to see what else I can learn! Thank you! You're an angel ❤

Rande Thorman: I threw my Mannequin a few times, kicked a few times too. Even slammed dunk a couple in the trash I was so frustrated.

Miss Yvette: This is the absolute best braiding tutorial I’ve seen. Thank you so much!!! Now for the trial and error and trial again and against until I succeed

Tracy Hooey: this video has made learning how to do my hair extremely easy i love how the whole time explaining he was just calm and explained everything in amazing detail!

Catherine Kuehner: I've always wanted to learn braiding, and this tutorial was incredibly helpful. Thank you so much for making it! ❤ My first attempts have been pretty bad so far, but I'm hopeful they'll get better with time.

Sushila Pillay: I’ve been trying to Dutch braid on my own hair for ages, watched this video once and was finally able to do it! Best Dutch braid tutorial ever! thank you

Angela Hagood: Thank you for this excellent tutorial! I absolutely struggle with Dutch braids. I just get lost! I like your suggestion for just talking yourself through each step! Keep the videos coming! We love them!

L and M Challenges: This helped me so much! Now I can do a cute Dutch braid on my daughter! thank you so much for teaching this, could you do more easy braiding tutorials for beginners?

Tourmaline Ivy: Oh my god I did it! I am 30 and I have always wanted to learn this but it seemed to me as rocket science (I only did the regular braids) thanks to your video I finally learned how to do it, and relatively fast! (it seemed more challenging than French braids but these are easier for me) I cannot thank you enough!! ❤️❤️❤️

sahenry91: Thank you, I’ve been watching tons of videos that looked easy but didn’t explain about how to under braid. That helped so much and you saying it doesn’t matter if u start picking up the hair from the top strand or the bottom. I’m left handed and my natural instincts make my hand movements different and most tutorials are made with a right handed person in mind.

JolinDhillon: You are so good at teaching and so aware of how the audience is reacting or what we’re wondering/confused about! I’m really impressed and I definitely subscribed!❤️

Jessie Bosworth: You give the best instructions! Concise, clear and calm. This is the first dutch braid video I've watched, I followed along on my daughter's hair and it actually came out pretty dang good! Not bad for my first time ever! Thank you so much!

alexx: This was so helpful! I have been practicing Dutch braids for a while now and couldn’t understand what I was doing wrong. This has really helped me. Thank you!

Naasira amin: Thank you for this in depth video, I really enjoyed watching and love how you zoomed in on the hair technique, I’ve watched a few videos on braiding but this is most helpful and you explained and showed how to do it, my daughter is getting into braids so need to add this to my mommy skills

Leanne Carr: I have braided this way my entire life and I never knew it had a specific name I always figured I was just doing my French braids ass backwards! Thank you for showing this older lady that learned to braid from her daddy that this is a real braid! You are amazing

Natalie Haroldsen: Oh my goodness this video is gold! Gold I tell you! I have had people stand right by me trying to show me how to do this, didn’t help. Over a year ago my oldest daughter needed a Dutch braid into ponytail for dance competitions. I watched a bunch of tutorials and still couldn’t do it. Regular French braids I can handle, pull through braids no problem. But my brain could not do Dutch. After a bunch of dance moms complained that the hairstyle was too complex it was changed. And now this year’s dance competition hairstyle for my youngest daughter is a Dutch braid into side curly ponytail. After watching this video a couple times. I was like “BAM!” I got this! It really helps to follow your advice and practice just a regular braid pulling it under. I practiced it 10 times just like you said. My youngest has a performance tonight and thanks to you her hair looks fabulous. Thank you, thank you. Your students are blessed to have you as a teacher.

Fiona Yamamoto: I’ve watched many dutch braid tutorials and this is the first one that actually helped me! Thank you I think your calm approach and reassuring words played a big part too!

Samantha V: Omg thank you so much!! I'm a totally beginner and I've tried to follow videos before with no joy and I had given up! My daughter has beautiful long hair and I've just followed your tutorial whilst her hair was in a pony tail and completed it with ease. THANK YOU!! Time to practice and then to try it without a pony tail.

stefania xytakis: I appreciate how you broke the braid down into its simplest form. I am getting ready to practice the underhand braid with the ponytail. You also give very specific advice such as: do this ten times or start with half the hair first, which is really critical when learning a new skill.

Ellie Konieczki: I tried this and on my first try I got it perfect I was so happy with the results. But I did realize the closer you get to the mid/bottom of the braid you should have the person look down so it doesn’t look super loose to where hair is falling out of the braid. But I got this on my first try! This video was super helpful!! Thank you!!

Rena Richardson: OMG, you rock! I’ve watched several videos on these braids and this is the video that it finally clicked for me! I was getting so frustrated, I can fly a helicopter but can’t do a damn braid. I have the technique down, now I just have to practice to perfection. Thank you Linwood for your Dutch braid tutorial for dummies. I sure have felt like one before viewing your video! Can’t wait to become a pro!

Menaz Choudry: This is an amazing tutorial! A brilliant step by step- thank you!

Mari Perez: Thank you for this video. You broke it down perfectly for a beginner like me. You are a great teacher!

Steven Dinh: This was so calming and easy to understand, best tutorial I've found yet.

Emmanuel Awuah: This is a good learning experience, u made the whole process so simple I've started braiding already.God job there guys.

N Mann: You did an amazing job explaining how to do a Dutch braid for beginners!!

Eve: Love your voice and I love how you explain everything you explain it with so much detail and hopefully I learn,I’m going to be watching you when I need help on doing braids!❤️

Helena Tade: Love both your tutorials on French and dutch braid. Basically the ONLY tutorials made simple and informative. THANK YOU!❤

Bianca Garcia: This was such a helpful video. I've watched other braiding videos and they weren't nearly as informative as your or as calming! Thank you for taking the time to actually do the whole braid and to explain what is going on. So relaxing and now I feel a little more confident trying it on myself!

Scarlett Cheung: This is the best tutorial for this braid I have ever seen! Very clear. Unlike other vids where I can't really see what is going on with the fingers of the person. You have finally solved a mystery I have for a long time. I was always confused if I just added another little strand or just braid with the new strand. Very clear with everything. I love this video.❤️

Sabrina Evaristo: Love your video. You make it seem so easy. I hope I can recreate this for my 10 yr old daughter. Wish me luck! Thank you so much!

HairbySofia: I love the way you explain everything so calmly and clearly!

PrisHawaii5-oh: Great tutorial!! I love braiding. I’ve been trying to master the underhanded braid for years, but my hands are so used to French braiding that I thought I’d never get it. Thank you!

Itsmeee Trish: Thank you so much!! You are so clear and easy to understand. I was so confused on this braid, but with your help I got it AND my daughters’s braid looks a thousand times better!! Thank you thank you!!

Molly Jemson: I’ve never learnt something so quickly in my life ! thank you for this fab video xxxx

Gvann Ly: I am 30 and I still struggle doing a proper dutch braid! You make it looks so easy! Will try this again following your instructions lol

Bethany Nichole: I’ve been wanting to learn how to Dutch braid for about a year now didn’t think I’d be able to do it but your video helped me so much I’m definitely gonna keep practicing but for my first time doing I’m definitely happy with it

Paola Morales: Thank you so much for this beautiful tutorial! I have really thick curly hair and while it was hard, I'm going to keep practicing until I get it right!

Ray: Lots of my friends know how to do dutch braids except me. I tried learning it by myself, by experimenting, but I just couldn't do it, I kinda did it a bit, but forgot how. I just gave up and a few months later I decided to try again, but this time by tutorials. This tutorial is very helpful, and I could finally do dutch braids, and I could do my whole head in a short while now, FINALLY!!!

Tamera Caldwell: You sir have helped me tremendously! Thank you for walking us thru it step by step!

Mary McGrath: I really love your videos! i'm 23 and have the hardest time learning how to do hair because i lack hand eye coordination but i bought my own mannequin head and with your videos have learned fish tail braiding, french, and dutch! thank you so much! still working on doing them on my own head but working on it!

patricia law: Love love love your tutorial!!! Fabulous way to talk me thru it! I’ve watched many other videos that left me confused. You nailed it! Thank you bunches!

Helen Bruce: Thanks so much for this , I am desperate to learn this technique so my daughters hair looks neat and tidy for school ! You really explained things well . Excellent tutorial

Arela R: My daughter and I really enjoyed this video. Your instruction is clear and you always remembered your audience as you braided. Super easy to follow and spot on with that comment about assimilating information first before sending it to the creative side of the brain.you're a very good teacher! Thank you!

Krystle yvonne: Perfectly explained thank you! The first part helped as well! Great tutorial

Skydog 298: Thank you so much for making it so easy for us beginners You’re awesome Sending you so much love

Meghan Foster: Your videos are so helpful! My 4 yr old loves that I’m learning new braiding styles! Thank you

Cyber Liesl: Great video! You actually teach very detailed. I've been braiding people's hair for years and it was really difficult in the beginning. For 1 year and half I thought I was never gonna learn it. But never gave up. Keep on practicing, again and again, and you will find out you can actually do it! I must say exercise makes a good result. After years of messing up I can finally braid with success. So for all you people out there: keep on going and dont give up We got this

Harsha P: I saw all three braid tutorials of yours- french, Dutch and fishtail braid. Also tried fishtail immediately and ended up in a perfect fishtail braid! I learned how to French braid during my History 101 class freshman year in college by watching someone do it from behind several rows up. This was a much better tutorial Thanks again!! First braid looked awful, second braid went much better :)

Cynthia Serrano: First off, I love the fact that you put the timestamp for the people who already know what to do in the first step. That to me right there was just phenomenal thank you

Mimi: Thank you for the tutorial, your explanation was clear and concise. So helpful!

Brianna Becvar: Ok thank you a million, I had to learn this hair style for our dance comp and not only is your technique so slow and perfect to help people perfect this look, but your motivating words and soothing voice helped me calm down every time I got frustrated! We just put the video on every time we do the braid now just to hear your motivational tips! Best teacher ever!!

Jodi R x: I’ve been trying to do these for ages and I haven’t been doing them properly but honestly this video has helped me so much! Thank you! ❤️

krx: I can't do these on myself to save my life French braid yes, these.... No

ankita: this video was so helpful compared to the other one i've watched! i kind of know how to do it now even though it doesn't look neat but i'm going to keep practicing during this quarantine, thank you so much! ❤️

Kristen Dionysius: Wow I’ve been trying to do these types of braids for so long watching tutorial after tutorial with no success. First go after watching only half of your video and I’ve done it! Thank you!

Rebecca Geisner: Great tutorial! So informal and easy! Thank you

Nicole De La Cruz: Thank you much for this video, I was struggling on how to grab hair for the sides to add to the braid & your camera angle/position of hands was great! I might start braiding on family but for now I’m just trying look cute lol Took me about 6 hours in 3 days time to just regular underhand braid & then I finally started Dutch braid my hair but was looking messy because like you said if you inconsistent partings when grabbing hair to add to the braid it will look messy! Im also getting better at grip so my braid is more noticeable,, Your right , if you work through the frustration & take it little by little your brain will finally put the pieces together! That’s why o only give myself 2-3 hours to practice so I don’t get angry & give up!!

Katheryn Elaine: This helped me so much! We’re having pj day at work and thought this would be cute! I’ve always managed to make them too loose. Thanks for the great video!!

kainaat Shafqat: Thanks alot for this tutorial !!!!! I have been trying to do Dutch braid for so long but never succeeded . However , after watching this video i made like in 10 mins for the very first time . Once again thanks ❤️

Naomi Gilholme: LOVE your videos! Best I’ve watched!! I have a 4yr old girl with beautiful long blonde hair. There’s so much I could do with it for school, but I’m clueless & just end up stressed on a morning. She’s lucky if she gets a pony tail! Thanks to your videos & a little practice, she’ll be returning next month with some gorgeous hair styles

Hanie Kazemeini: Omg dutch braid was so hard for me to learn, to the point after yrs trying i still couldn't until watched this video, thank u for showing us different steps before we even start the dutch braid that was very helpful

she so sherri: This was so helpful! I though I could braid on the scalp but I watch this and at the beginning you said do this first. In the ponytail....so I put my baby girl hair two ponytails (after trying the advance way for ten minutes )and braid with burentts on the ends. Cutest style for her

elizabethbad: I loved the tip about talking yourself through the process of braiding. It's so helpful when your arms are tired and you think the braid looks terrible

Hannah: Thankyou so much, I am so happy with myself because I did it!! I love your videos the angle is so good as well!! Thanks <3

Anne Angelica: Thanks a lot man, I'm so happy that I done it at my first attempt ☺️ just because of you , watched so many videos but only your video made me able to do it at first attempt! I'm so happy!!!!!☺️

kim morgan: This was very helpful b/c I couldn’t figure out why my braids tend to have some parts high and some low or some areas tighter than others. Thank you so much!

Jennifer Rashid: Best tutorial I’ve seen, this was so helpful!! Thank you!!

MetallicSarcasm: This was so helpful! I have watched other tutorials for Dutch braiding and this is the best one! My hands are muscle memoried into French braiding and the tip of practicing underhanded braiding first was super helpful! Thank you! Ps. Do you have any tips on tired arms when you're braiding your own hair? My second side always looks more sloppy because I just want to be done by that point.‍♀️

Ramsha Aymen: This is the most helpful and easy to understand video ever

Google User: You are the first instructor or YouTuber that I find that actually encourages me to learn. My husband French braids my hair and our daughters’ and I wanted this braid so bad. Maybe I will learn too! Thank you!

J K: Step by step and nice and calm and I got it! I have watched 6 tutorials and watched yours and managed to dutch braid both of my daughter's hair and they have different hair types, thank you

Marlaina: 11:03 seconds into my first video and I'm a subscriber..your explanations and hand positions are on point. You take your time and are a perfectionist. Love it!! Amazing

Ruby-Ann: So easy loved this tutorial thank you did it my first try

Michelle Bixby: It’s taken me like years to find a video as informative as yours! Thank you so much!

d.andylio.n: Thank you sm I thought I would never learn it took me 6 years but im so happy your a amazing teacher and ill be subscribing to you!❤

The Mama Lounge: amazing!!!!! Thank you! I love your plug about the creative brain, I can do the other braid style in french braid in my sleep and when I try this, my mind won’t let me and I’m going to try “talking” myself through it. Smart!!!

Justine Wow: This is great and so helpful, but when I do it I always end up having the braid higher than the pieces of hair from the side so that I’m effectively taking hair from below the braid at the side to join, whereas you take it from above the braid at the side to join. Does that make sense and if so how do you avoid that? Thank you!!

Nancy Alvarez: This was a great tutorial. Thank you so much!!

The Bennett Family: Awesome video, I have 5 year old twin girls that need their hair either tied up or braided for school everyday. I can French braid but love the look of the Dutch braids. Going to give this a go and see how it looks :)
