How To Crochet With Human Hair! Detailed Tutorial

my instagram: @seunokimi

How to crochet with human hair! In this tutorial I show you how to achieve the crochet hairstyle using human hair! A lot of you have been asking if it is possible to do crochet hair with human hair and what hair can work for this, so here is my tutorial showing you how! I use yaki textured kinki straight hair to achieve these most natural looking crochet braids alternative to a sew in weave or wig! This method allows you to have not leave out. I Hope this very detailed step by step tutorial helps you!

Hair Details:

(This kinky straight from this particular vendor was slightly less coarse than other kinky straight hair I've tried before, which is why I think I saw a bit more shedding with the crochet, because the knots don't tie as tight the silkier the hair is. I kinda liked this less coarse kinky straight texture though, crochet aside. The hair I received came with a bit of an odor though.

This hair was sent to me.)

Hey guys, it's shane wilkie and welcome back to my channel today i'll, be showing you how i installed human hair crochet, i'm doing a lot of crochet and a downside to doing crochet with synthetic hair is that it tangles and it doesn't last very long. So i'm like, let me try doing crochet with human hair and see how it turns out. So, first i'm going to show you how i did this braiding pattern and then i'm going to go into showing you how i actually did the crochet and talk a little bit about how the crochet actually looks and whether or not i like it for this crochet Braid pattern: i'm braiding the braids slightly smaller, because i figure with the human hair i might have to use smaller pieces. I want to allow myself to be able to space uh crochets a little bit closer. Always whenever you're doing your braid pattern for crochet, you want to make sure that you're braiding, taking into account where your parts will be so i'll, have my middle part right there and then i'll have one braid separating that the middle part and my side part on Both sides, and then after i finish, braiding all the cornrows in the front i start connecting all of them, starting from the top and then just braiding them down and to finish it up in the back. I just start from the top and do my classic zigzag in the back very quick to finish up braiding the back. This braiding pattern always gets the job done. It doesn't take that much time at all and then, whenever i'm done i'll have one big braid left. After combining all the braids, like you see me doing here and then with that braid, i just use my crochet latch hook to crochet in between the rest of the cornrows, so that everything lays flatly and perfectly - and this is the braiding pattern that i will use Now into the crochet okay, so now the fun part, so the hair that i'm using is from asteria hair off of aliexpress. So this is what the texture of the hair looks like. It is the kiki straight, i'm really excited this is about to. I can already tell that this is about to be really good, so let me just take this out, so what i'm gon na do is i'm, since this is crochet, i'm not actually sewing this on using the weft, i'm going to cut the hair off of the Weft, not this big okay, so this is the first piece, so i just started off by just kind of practicing and getting the hang of how to crochet with human hair, since i've never done this before so i was just practicing testing out different size, pieces and Figuring out what looping method i wanted so now is here when i'm explaining the best method that i found. I take the hair like this, leaving like two inches above and then i just loop it around my finger, making sure that all of the hair is there and then put the latch hook through your braid and then use your finger to help you glide. All of the hair into the latch look like that and then close the latch hook, pull it through then open. It back up, grab this hair again and then place it all in that loop then close that latch again pull it through then you're gon na open. It again and then do the same thing, and then i like to do this three times like so then you pull it through and that's all there is to it and just like that, you have your hair and, as you can tell nothing shed out, so i Figured out that's like the best way to do it using pieces about this size and looping it three times there is other half and then this is the long piece and you still get all of your length and yeah. So now i'm going to go ahead and go through the rest of my head and then so i just continued. Spacing the crochet pieces like a finger width apart, and i do that across all of the braids. As you see me doing here, as long as you knot it multiple times and don't use pieces that are too big, you shouldn't have problems with it, slipping too much and, as you can see, i'm already loving just watching this back. You can see how well the texture and everything is looking. It looks super super natural because it is natural, it's human here and the texture is perfect. In my opinion, and also since this hair is human hair, it lasts way longer than just like regular synthetic crochet. Here so you can reuse it, you can do multiple installs with the same hair. The texture of this hair that i got is the kinky straight and again it's from mysteria here and i got three bundles. I only use three ben bundles for this whole install and i got it in the inches. 28. 30. 30.. I got 30 inch here because i thought i would be crocheting the hair doing the regular crochet way, which is where you fold the hair in half to crochet, but because i am crocheting it in this way. Where i fold it to where there's only like two inches on the other side - and you still preserve the rest of the length of the hair, you don't have to get hair. That is that long. So go ahead and get like your regular inches. I ended up cutting this hair slightly because it was a little bit too long. I mean 30 inches and i'm trying to make it look as natural as possible, but yeah you don't have to worry about getting here. That is super long and now i have finished doing the majority of the hair, except for, like my invisible parts, which i'll show you how i'm going to do right now. So i'm going to take a piece about this big and i'm going to loop it around. My finger and just like i've, been doing the other ones. I'M going to use my lash hook to go up from underneath the braid i'm going to latch the hair, pull it through open it and then now the only difference is i'm going to take the smaller. I'M going to take the shorter piece and i'm going to latch only that through then i'm going to pull it through again then allow blotchy to go back up and then i'm going to repeat the same thing twice. I have my shoulder piece here and then i'm going to use the other piece to fall on top, so that this piece will cover up that knot perfectly and now i'm just going to continue and go along this part. So yeah, i just continued going along and you will see how natural this comes together. I was really impressed by how well and how natural this looks, especially because of the texture of this hair. I think that's what made it look, this natural it wouldn't have worked with silky hair. That'S another thing that i didn't mention at the beginning. This will not work with silky hair. I'Ve tried crocheting with silky here and silky straight hair just doesn't work. It is too loose for the knots to stay put, but this yaki texture makes it easy for the knots to stay put, and it also just makes it look a lot more natural, especially right here at your invisible part and that's another thing. Um you're probably wondering what, if i just sewed the rest of my hair, but if i didn't want to have leave out what can i just crochet the parting like you're doing right here, and the answer is yes. I'Ve actually made a few videos on that. A few years ago, it's called my no leave out method if you haven't seen those videos, but yes, that is something you can do and i'll put the cards up here somewhere at the top. So you can click on that afterwards, if you're interested in doing the crochet method. Just for your part, so you can have no leave out so once i was done with the middle part, i moved on to doing the side part in the same exact way that i was just showing you so i can have another benefit of doing. Crochet. Is that you can have multiple parting um and so yeah? I really like that aspect of it as well, and it looks so so nice i actually wore this hair, mostly in this side, part, and just look at that. It doesn't look so so natural. I was obsessed obsessed with this hair. Just look at it this here. Doesn'T i like i'm just i don't know if you can tell, but i'm very very impressed by this here, even just watching it back um. This video was recorded a while ago, but yeah. It looks super super natural and i was like hmm now. Let me try styling this hair like since it is human hair. Let me try curling it, so i tried curling it with a flat iron to see like what i could do with this hair and it curled beautifully. As you can see me doing right here, and so this video was actually filmed back in the summer, but it's taking me forever to edit this because i'm i was in school, but i just graduated - i didn't have time to edit, but anyway after i wore the Hair, i kept the hair in for like two and a half weeks during christmas break, because this was just like an experiment, so i gave i came back and recorded an update on how the hair lasted and if i would recommend this human hair crochet method. Let'S just take a few more seconds to admire how bomb and so natural this hair looks like it's actually so crazy, but yeah i'll be showing you guys what it looked like around two and a half weeks later right now, so, as you can see, it still Looks pretty good like it lasted pretty good. Now, i'm showing you guys how i took the hair out, because i also get a lot of questions on how to take out crochet, but it's very, very simple. Basically, you just isolate one crochet piece, the crochet piece that you want to take down, and then you just find the knot and literally unloop it with your fingers. It'S literally that simple, hey guys! So i'm in the middle of taking out this hair - and i just wanted to give you guys an update - tell you guys a little bit more about the whole human hair crochet thing. So the pros were that it doesn't really tangle that much since it's human hair and since it's also human hair, you can also curl it do a lot of different, more have more variety of styles with it. So i definitely like that. That being said, the cons, i think i personally prefer just to sew my own installs like this, to get a similar look, but that is because i have the ability to sew. I can actually sew my own hairs. I know crochet is a better option. If you don't really know how to sew your own hair, it's a lot. Definitely a lot easier. It depends on if you can sew, if you can't sew it's easier to do it on yourself. So i think it's a pro in that sense, but if you can sew, i think i would still just go with regular sewing. I personally prefer that method, just because, basically i'm more used to it and as i'm taking out this hair, i am keeping it like. The hair is reusable as you'll see whenever i'm sure here's how i take it down. It does come out pretty cleanly and you don't lose that much here. But that being said, you still do lose a little bit of hair and then, throughout the time that i had the hair in it did [ __ ] like the shedding wasn't like. Oh, my gosh like this is just falling out of my head, but it did shed a little bit more than like a normal sew-in would because the hair isn't like sewn on top left. It'S like crocheted, and it kind of just depends on how tight your knots are yeah. This was really just like an experiment to see. If i could do it, a lot of people always ask what can it be done with human hair if only it could be done with human hairs? I was like, let me just try it and see how it works and it definitely works. It looks nice and active knife. I think i still prefer, like my traditional weave or wig, that kind of stuff. That being said, if you do prefer crochet and you're thinking of trying out the human hair routes, it does work and it's pretty fun to try. Uh will i personally be doing it again for my own self? Probably not, but i mean it wasn't completely completely horrible. I think it's really up to you and your preference, but yeah, and i never washed it while it was installed in my head. Maybe i should have for demonstration purposes. I don't think i would necessarily recommend that you wash the walls in your hair unless you absolutely have to and yeah. I really hope that this video was helpful for you, guys, i'm going to finish taking out this hair and yeah definitely a good protective style. At least you have that as well and yeah i'll see you guys in the next one

Kgethego: We don’t talk enough about how stunning Seun is ♥️

Yanna N: Tried this style a few years ago and this girl had me looking like a lion. Didn't work out too well for me atm but this is the look I was going for.

Isabella Mondie: This is so cute! And it looks so natural!! I admire your channel a lot, I've learned so much from you and my hair has grown a lot . I got really confident about my hair recently and started straightening it and with this hairstyle I could definitely give my hair a break lol. Thank you so much! Love you~❤

Brittany Heart: You always do a good job! The only thing that gets me with crochet is the back, if I happen to flip my hair, the braids and knots are always exposed lol

JamAsianQueen: OMG! I’ve been searching for this specific tutorial all morning. I’m really tired of using synthetic crochet braids and It’s much cheaper to buy the bundles and DIY. I’ll definitely use this pre looped method. You’re looking fabulous and you have a lovely smile. ❤️

S J: This video was right on time because I have some hair in my hair tote and in the spirit of using what I have and not spending my money unnecessarily. I was thinking how I could crochet some wefted hair into my hair. You definitely read my mind on this. Your hair style was wonderful as usual. Thx for sharing.

brownskin babe_: Sis you’re so skilful can’t wait for the wash day routine (moisturising, washing and conditioning 3 month cornrows)!!

SoAnah: That’s what it is I tried this the other day with some body wave human hair just like how you did just to cover a few pieces in the front and it was a struggle because of the silkness now I know I just need kinky straight thank you your hand motions with the crochet needle is on point as well

El's Life: It looks just like your natural hair. Really beautiful. Thank you for sharing this method. ❤

Doula Belle: Omg thank you!! I just gave up doing it with human hair because all of it would just shed back out! I’m using this method. I’m really happy right now lol

SongbirdGLS: I am going to try this...I have a lot of hair in the closet that I'll never 'weave', so this will be perfect. Just needed a method. Thank you!!

R C: This is a great technique. I’ve tried human hair crochets only to be stuck trying to figure out how to address the chunky side cut from the weft. Can’t wait to try!

pdstcro1010: Wow! Looks like the hair is growing from your scalp! Another great tutorial.

Yeye555: Nice work! Felt like a studious natural-braider! ✌sis I'm watching and love it keep up da good work! One

necijones: I love you videos, very informative. After watching your initial videos on the method. I was able to use this method on some Peruvian and Brazilian bundles and found ways to make the knots hold. So it is achievable with different textures of hair even the silky ones. It’s just the kinkier ones are easier to work with. It’s does take some patience with silky hair.

Stella Ademola: Beautiful! You are doing a great job Seun.

ryan Amari: The braiding style in itself is a style all it’s own....looks beautiful

Raheema Davis: omg girl you just taught me how to do my hair im doing this Thurs looks beautiful

Coco: My favorite hair to use is the Afri natural definition braid by Isis. I mix the colors 1B and 2 together to make it look like my hair color and it doesn’t tangle at all. Just brush it out consistently and you’ll be good. It’s a blow out style and blends perfectly with my natural hair, and I use tiny pieces only which is all you need since the hair is full. Beauty can braid has some videos with that hair and it’s the only thing I’ll use! You did a great job as always.

Realm of Hair: Hi Seun. Another brilliant informative video! Human hair is the best for authenticity but I'll personally stick with synthetic.

Sandy bee: Great job Gurl I always wanted to see someone do a GOOD crochet method with HUMAN hair. I love quick synthetic but the shedding and itchiness gets tiriring, but we do what we do to look and feel great! Thnaks for the tutorial. You Look beautiful.

Raquel Thompson: Love this, I was looking for a good method. I can't sew on my head and don't have wigs so perfect style.

Lenia Christine: Bravo! You always nail it, My edges are weak and are always breaking, is there a way I can protect them? I love your videos.

latichina5: You're like the queen of crochet braiding at this point

Sheba Rawlings: Im so impressed by you and how u hide the knots On the hair Your amazing

stacy frisco: It's Beautiful very helpful, you gave me an idea. Thank you

Roxanne McNish: Great tutorial, but even your braids for the install looked cute. So beautiful you look like Gabriel Union!

Mek: I am so happy I discovered your YouTube videos and I subscribed as well..Your skills are amazing whomever ever gave a thumbs down you don't know her skills..

Mary J Flanagan: I just remembered that you'd made this video. I really like crochet hairstyles for their protectiveness. I'm going to try doing this with a combination of sew in in the back, then crocheted in the front. That way, I think I could wear it a lot longer. I haven't gone longer than a couple of weeks and I'm looking for the style that's not a wig. Lol

Tye G: I would love to see you do a video using curly human hair with crochet.

Aline Moraes Na Real: Perfeita

~Daphne Amy's World~!: I've seen someone crochet with tokaylon Remy human hair and look so good luke yours very natural couldn't tell it was crocheted❤

shevanese walker: Thank you, you solved my no leave out issue

Candi: Congratulations on graduating!! I’ve been a subscriber for years and I’m so pleased or you

Curly Loves Beauty and Books: Ahhh I'm so glad I went through your play list and found a more recent video. I just posted a question on a video that was 3 years ago so I'm going to ask again here! I have super super low density hair and was wondering if the braids being thinner would affect the overall look and I wash my hair two to three times a week would that also affect the hair?

YOYOS KITCHEN DELIGHTS: Beautiful smile as ever . Well presented video

I Deveaux: Beautiful

Prophetess Lady Of Wisdom: Your real hair is extremely long and pretty. I love the weave too. Your smile is ❤.

Sydney River-Weaver: I remember watching you a few years ago. Glad to see the channel grow

DANDRAJ 2356: This is the video I was waiting for!❤

Tiffany Edmonds: Gorgeous!!!

Simona Sweet: Y'all go check out Seun's video where she brought on 2 doctors to give us some information on alopecia now y'all know she is really a sweetheart for trying to educate us on our health and haircare. I've never seen a YouTuber do that so I love me some Seun.

Guerline: I love crochet braids but maintaining loose synthetic hair... WHEW CHILE

Nah: You are so talented! New subster.

StepLo: Loving the new intro!

Shaunie N.: Looks great but I don't have the patience to do this on my own hair‍♀️

YVONNE WOOD: I'm sorry, I clicked because I thought this was Gabrielle Union giving a hair tutorial. I enjoyed it inspite of my mistake. Thank you for the tutorial. Very informative.

MrzJones13: This is the best tutorial ever!

3DPLUS3 Hopkins: Hi, I have two questions. I know you might not answer, but it’s worth a try. Do you have a hair routine? Like do you wear your hair in crotchet for 3 months, then take it out and keep your hair natural and then put it back into a protective style after a specific time? My second question is with that routine, do you put coconut oil on your scalp every day one week and then the next week put caster oil on and then continue. (Hopefully these questions made sense)

Marla k: Thaaaaaaannnnnkkk you. I have all this human hair bulk sitting here but couldn't figure a safe way to install it with crotchet due to the shedding. Whew thank you, miss.

Natalia Veladez: also you should try to do this w leave out and see what it looks like I think with it being so flat and might actually look like a sew in & is probably a better alternative for some people that want a ponytail

Guerline: Off topic but I love your smile

Diane Jones: HELLO, SEUN OKIMI. YOU ARE THE BEST!!! YOU JUST TEACH ME, HOW TO USED HUMAN HAIR FROM A WET; TO CROCHET MY HAIR. THANK YOU ; SO MUCH. KEEP IT GOING GIRL.AWESOME!!! LOVE YOU.

VIXYVAGABOND: Thank yoj making dreadlock bangs using this invisible part method thank you!

Rosine Musaniwabo: Hiii from Belgium great tutorial!! Do you recommend this quality of hair for a hairstyle that last 2 or 3month?

Natalia Veladez: It amazes me how people can use this crochet hook because I find it super annoying and very time consuming I literally just use a crochet needle and that’s all I use for my crocheting it actually works very well but I commend you on your patience

Weekend Intuition : So what can’t you do with and to your hair? You are so creative!!!

Racquel Palmer: AMAZING. THANK YOUUU

Amy D. A.: Super-duper cute!!

Nakokonya Sylvia: Awesome skills

Margaret Humphrey: Love, Love, Love it

Bridget Mandishona: How I wish you had done this 2 yrs ago used to have human hair that had stickers but didn't know what to do with it

Maurica Chablal: Excellent videos...Where do you purchase the human hair and how many packs to purchase?

Jesus Saves: So can I leave it in longer than 6 weeks ?

Treasure Rose: Thank you

This "Yellabone" You Don't Want (2 F W): Can spraying hair fibers over the part make it look more natural?

Honey drips: Hi, is it possible to wash my hair every 2 weeks in these?

Maraysia Brewer: How long did it take you to do this in total

Ashanti Bynum: I love your videos.

m b: Do the braids in the back have to be zig zag? If I do regular corn rows will that work for crochet?

Hiswisegirls: You’re skilled sis

Kayla: so this is kinda off topic but i have questions. Ok so, is it better to trim your split ends often or should you leave it alone and wait to cut them? also how often should you moisturize your hair in protective styles? because for me if i do it too often i will start to get build up but if i don't do it often enough it will get dry and itchy.

Ihuoma Otika: I can't crochet or braid anything (for now). I'm just here for support

K Hodges: Lady, you have the cutest face...almost like a kitten. Love your hair videos, but I dont have the courage to attempt as yet.

Carbon Original: I’m saving this for later as I am now sensitive to synthetic hair

The Hood Witch: you are a magician with that crochet hook

Maraysia Brewer: I want to do this but I have an undercut.. and I’m trying to figure out how I would do it with an undercut ✨ has anyone done this that has one? Please reply!

Nikki Prince: How long did you leave this straight human hair in? I want to leave mine in 6-8 wks

Naysha Babyyy: So can you comb that kind of hair or put Jail (i don’t know how to spell it) in it for a slick back ponytail?

Monica Marrow: Congratulations on your graduation!

Gloria Ladzekpo: How do you wash your hair while it's in your protective styles? How often do you wash your hair?

Remada Bailey: Hey can this style last longer than 2 weeks?

Mrs. C.A.M: Congrats on you graduation

pearl kodobisah: Your smile is so beautiful.. I just came across your page on my IG explore.. I had to subscribe; great content .
