Learn Braiding Skills #222

Great advice and client hair care tips from @braidawaybyjay box braids specialist at Hampton VA.

I don't need it, so i'm not going to put a box spray on this little piece of hair yeah, i'm going to make a wider box, and this is why i go wide. I still don't put a braid, let's kill too thin, so i'm gon na go behind the baby. No, i'm just recording i'd rather have her have a wide front than no friend edges be gone.

78khp: Now this is a True braider & someone who cares about their client’s hair

BESTIES HAIR: She knows what she is doing, it better to save your client edges than to do a fancy hair .. it’s very beautiful

Lea_Lea RN: Finally a stylist that actually cares about reserving a client’s hairline. ❤️

Chocolate Pinky: That’s exactly the same thing I do! I always have a wider front because I’m not about to be bald by the edges.

Apple Sauce: I really appreciate her doing that, she showed that she was more then just her next paycheck...she is her client and she had the best intentions for her

perfectly imperfect: "I rather have a wide front than no front"

Charm Lane: She know what she doing!!!!!!!

Shy'Lynn: Tip: I'm a braider that braids my on hair and I have thin fine edges. My boxes are like the 2nd box you created. I do a small knotless braid then crochet hair in that knotless braid and braid on top of that. Sounds like a lot but I still have my edges

S. I.: I thought Chrisean was braiding hair now

Sunshine: Finally, someone that cares. People always ask me how I keep my edges down since they STAY down 24/7! But one time I didn’t do them, they started getting paranoid and saying “you look different!” Lol, I was even use to doing my edges that my parents would be like “edge time?” I would be like yes! So yeah, take care of your edges! Just a little story I wanted to share ✨

Kaidhu Patience: How thoughtful of you, so lovely

Charlene Vance: I absolutely love this braider, she truly cares about her clients hair. Most don't care about our edges

mesha satawhite: As someone who HATES when braiders do this when they CLEARLY SEE my edges are thin I just want to say I appreciate you sis. Teach these ppl PLEASE!

SaGaThaArtist: As a picky person I’d definitely come to you and recommend you to many ppl bc this type of care is what we need ! Some don’t understand how important our hair is just cause it can “grow back”!

Madisyn J. Hall: My hair has always been thin and when the boxes are too small it ALWAYS rips out my hair so this is much appreciated

Nina Lewis: This wonderful sister has skills, knowledge, and cares about her clients hair health!

Deloris: African braiders: she got no edges? Damn that’s crazy *proceeds to use super tight grip*

naitXkrys: Thank you for doing that. Because the first time I got my hair braided I was transitioning to natural hair and my edges were very thing in the box braid a bunch of gel and build up got stuck in the braid and my edges came clean off from the root. Took years to grow back

Rozroz: I woulda just make an anchor braid that works too! It’s nice to see that their are hair stylist who actually care about their clients hair

IM HAIR 4 U: The same thing I do for my clients!! I am more into getting & keeping my client's hair healthy. That's why my motto is - Healthy Hair is Important!!

Ava W: nice to see braiders that actually care about the health of their clients' hair

HairgasmMiami Official: Amen exactly what i do for my clients, saves their edges and they always come back ☺️

Glennisha White: Yasss...if I get my hair braided I have to always tell them, use enough hair because I want to keep my edges...but I typically will braid it myself. You are the first braided I have seen do just that...yes..that little piece of hair will come right out when trying to take it down. Great job maam

Undeniably Me: Braided my 7 yr old's hair for the 1st time this weekend, and had to do that. I thought I had messed up in my parting, and should've just kept going instead of widening the section. Looks like I did the right thing. I feel better about it now.

GlamguruNik: Soooo many braiders need to learn this! I have to remind my braider everytime to make sure it’s enough hair

Rikki: I just did box braids the other day and had this same situation and thought of you… I told her mom that the 2 boxes by her temple was gonna be a tad bit bigger cause her hair was thin right there and I ain’t wanna put a braid on it and add tension and loose edges. So yea thanks for sharing this

Shaimeere: Yes! I braid my grandmothers hair! It grows very low around her hairline. To avoid any damage since she does dye/ perm her grays. I make wider parts around those areas especially the front and she always ask why… & I just tell her “you have even hair growth now”

Diana U: Love that you care so well for their hair! ❤️

Dnee100485: So good to see someone practicing healthy hair

Divine In Nature LLC: See this is the type of braider that deserves to get paid good! Some “Protective” styles are very damaging for some people because some braiders don’t put this type of care

IzzyB72: Shout out to her for taking care of her clients hair. I remember when i was trying to get my double helix piercings the pierced actually CARED about my ears and wanted to do it correctly and make sure it wouldnt be to much. Not a lot of people do that. They do what the customer wants and let them leave. But if its gonna damage the customer let them know and have them decide what to do. Its very much appreciated. A lot of things we dont specialize in and so we put a lot of trust into professionals to make sure they are taking care of everything and being 100% honest

Haven ღ: i have a braider who always makes this one piece in the front of my hair small and it hurts so bad when it grows because it’s like hanging from a thread so thank you to the braiders who care and aren’t in it for just that 230-350 a day

CHLOE' MA'ET: I love her for recording this because this is important for all braiders or others who aren't that do their own or kids hair!

Shakira: A real hair stylist

Life As Diana Danielle: My braider does this and I soooo appreciate her for it!

Ms Lady K: Thank you for not taking her edges out. I had to learn the hard way

L.S. Neely: Thank you sis! My braidist didn’t do that even though I specifically told her I was trying to regrow my edges.

Blu Rayen: Omg..thank you! Texture is the same and so many wannabe stylist wanna go small when you have to go big on this texture..otherwise the weight will damage her hair. Thank you for knowing how to take care of the hair on her head!!

sheeniesheen: I wish more braiders did this! This is showing so much care!

LovinLifeWithLaine: You are so appreciated for actually caring about your clients hair

Youlanda Collick: My right side is exactly like that. My stylist does the same thing!! You’re a TRUE STYLIST!!

Shauntae Starks: As a person who gets braids often, I appreciate you for that.♥️

NoPatience: If more braiders were like this, there’d be more women with their edges still intact!!!

BipolarReddJazz: EXACTLY THATS HOW U DO IT‼️ SHE CARES WE NEED MORE BRAIDERS LIKE THIS

Stephanie Foster: I love seeing a stylist who actually cares about the clients scalp and hair. So many ppl will just braid WAYYY too tight and yank all your hair out. If they would think about it they're eventually gonna lose clients. How will u style someone who has no hair left to braid? Think about it. Take care of your clients y'all!! I love this!!!

Char'Kita Hood: And this is the kind of skill and professionalism we appreciate!! Someone who actually cares about the client and her hair.

Tibble_Studios: I wish we had ppl to braid hair like this in New Zealand, I would love to get it done

r p: I do this whith my own hair too. Or flat twist the edges when doing non extention hairstyles. Helps in keeping the edges healthy.

Shonda Ni'cole: This is why I started doing my own.. my braiders looked at me crazy the first time I asked for larger parts... they laughed and said your edges will look crazy... I said they'll be there to look at

Sophisticated_ Naturally: This is EXACTLY how I braided peoples hair when I had a situation like this. I had to point out this to a mother with a biracial child, her child came over for a play date and I noticed that the person that braided her hair took a huge piece of weave and put it on hair with same amount as video! I told her mom what I noticed how the braider did this and she let me fix it. She had no idea due to culture differences obviously but I’m glad I could help save her little girls edges ahead of time!

PhoenyxzTV: Exactly! A true braider who cares about their client

Mercedes Daye: Thank you miss. I wish some of the so-called braiders would see this video. Good short tutorial. “Wide front as oppose to no front.”That is a marketing piece right there. Pay me later

turquoisebrowntq: Yessss!!! I’m glad to see that I am not the only one who does this! Save the edges

Karleigh Rae: I love this!! A true braider would and will make solutions to issues like this in regards for the client’s health AND still give the client what they asked for! Lovee

Thoriso Molefe: We need more braiders like her.

anicesuprise: Girl I love it! You know exactly what your doing I hate seeing all the broken thin hair in......make it wider !❤️❤️

N Ca: That's how I braid my hair. Good on both of them for realizing the style in temporary, hairline is forever. And don't hook your wigs in your edges either ladies. Tough lesson.

Kita Khat: Thank you for caring and protecting her hair's health.

BeWise86: These are beautiful ❤️ I do have light edges you can gel mine and keep going !! Once it grows I'll braid it myself ☺️

altovise14: Especially do for finer/thiner/ low density/ hair, which she has.

O5YT Games: She is treating her clients right, that's what I like.

ThisIsAshya: I love this plus educating the client too, so that if going elsewhere (doubt it after a good experience) she can request the same to be done

Goddess in Training: we need more Braiders like you

MsAchampion: Great job! I would've done it just like that!

Starr Allen-Pettway: I sooooooo appreciate stylist like you! Thank you for caring ❤

Dorian Danger: The most relaxing voice while getting your hair done. I think "hair braiding ASMR" is in order

The Serpent Charmer: I braid my own hair and I do this because my edges have always been thin. Good to know this is what a professional recommends. 'Rather have a wide front than no front' fr

shigyrl08: Exactly right I do the same with my clients kudos Queen

Jeannette Martinez: This is so refreshing to see. I thought I was the only one. So many videos these braiders could careless.

AP Mthembu: We need more braiders like you.

Jules: There's such a culture around my hair texture that I missed out on because of how I was raised. It's like, I have this hair, but I don't know the first thing about the stuff that comes out of my scalp, and now it seems too intimidating to even start learning.

T Will: BRAVO to you !!! So many braiders would have went ahead and braided that thin edge

Locc’d In: Locs require this as well. The entire hair line typically has less hairs per square inch.

Monique B.: This is very clever. That’s why while i find beautiful small braids i KNOW they don’t work on my thin hair. I wish i had more hair and thick too i’m so obsessed with these type of braids

Shaivalri Benton: Oooo I’m glad she did that little piece of hair made me wince

Da Herbal Goddess: Exactly that’s exactly how l was taught to braid edges

Gabriella Greer-Benedict: Thank you for this. I had a braid come out of my hair WITH ALL MY HAIR IN ITlast week. Edges were gone. So pissed. Good thing I have a lot of hair

Lorita Parker: This how I do my clients❤

More than a Medium: I love that she said she don’t wanna rip her front hair out! I cherish those parts cuz u can hide most of your hair but that part alwyss needs to stay right !
