Hey what's up guys Stevie de salón guy here and today I've got Josh and, as you can see, josh has amazing hair man really really good hair and I've been getting a lot of requests for guys with longer hair, and this is me this is perfect. So josh is kind of like not sure he wants to do this hair, and so I said I want to clean this up a little bit and this is going to be a good tutorial to show you guys if you want to grow your hair out or Have like a better shape to it. This is going to be a great tutorial, I'm going to shape his hair up, leave some of the length and just give you guys a good kind of understanding of what to do, or maybe what to do as a hairstylist or what to tell your hair styles. If you want to keep you here a little bit longer, so I'm gon na get Josh's hair wash we're going to come back and then we're gon na get started alright guys. So the cut is pretty much complete and I just kind of want to break this down midway throughout the whole thing. As you can see, as this hair is little is drying, it's got a really really nice more balanced shape to it, and the key to this is really simplifying it by creating a nice kind of layered shaping through here, you don't want to do anything. That'S going to disrupt the curl, you just want to create a nice balanced shape, but also you want to add a little bit of that kind of rugged texture to it. And that's when I went back in with the razor and kind of notched into it. So the styling now is kind of essential too, because this is where you have the option of letting it air dry, which I like to do on curly, hair or wavy, hair and but the key is product all right. So I'm going to use my product, tidal wave to begin with and tidal wave is like that sea salt rising spray, it's great to spray in let it air dry, just kind of like you got out of the ocean. It'S got to have that really really nice texture, it's not too gritty, and this is really really good for curly, hair or wavy hair. It'S how you, how you let it you know how you draw it. The pre kind of styling - and you do want to kind of rough, this up a little bit and get your hands in there, and this is one way to do it is this: let it you know, let it dry, naturally, air dry put product in it, and Then let it go and, as you can see already, you know the shape to it is really nice. I'M he's got a really really nice shape and it just looks a lot better. It just looks a lot more kind of you know. I just think it's really going to help, especially for as he grows his hair up now, I'm going to use hair whip and hair rip is my newest product and basically it's like a souffle man. Look at that. It'S a real! Let me just look in the camera: a nice real, rich kind of creamy texture really good for like this hair type, because it's not super heavy at all. It'S like a light to medium hold and then you kind of let it air dry or you can. You can dry it and there's a there's, a number of ways that you can dry it. You can use a diffuser. You can use a blow dryer. I prefer not to use a blow dryer a lot, a lot for this type of hair texture, because if the more you use a blow dryer the more kind Frizzi it's going to get right Josh have you noticed that hey all right, so I've got this interesting Tool here this is a diffuser and basically it diffuses the heat. So it's not just a steady stream of hot air blowing the hair all over the place. So what it does is it just limits the way, the amount of air that comes out and kind of diffuses it. So it's a little more focused and it's lighter on the hair. So by using this it'll allow the hair to Kondo. You can scrunch it to get a little more of a crow, but this is the best way to dry it and sometimes actually put your head back. If you put your head back and and put the dryer kind of right close to the hair, that's a good way to get a little bit of volume and a little bit of texture to right again. This is going to make it really really give it a little more volume to it. That'S the thing about a diffuser that gives a little more volume to the hair and it brings out the curl more. So if you're looking for more of a curly look, then this is going to be ideal. If you are looking for more of a natural kind of look, then you want to let it air dry and also the product is essential to what kind of product that you use in your hair. So we've got good product in his hair. You'Ve got a good haircut. We'Ve got all the essentials now to create a really really good shape, and what I'm doing is I'm scrunching the hair like this, I'm not shaking the hair. The key is to not shake the hair like this. You want a more just kind of scrunch it and work it into place instead of making it a big mess all over the place so see how it's tried. It'S got a little more kind of controlled kind of shape to it. Alright - and that's that's essential to this - that's essential to this haircut right here, alright guys, I really hope you enjoyed the shape, as you can see here, he's got a really really good good shape to it. Let'S just spin around you can see the back again. We did this to keep the length to keep that shape in here, but just to kind of really shape it up. So it grows out. Looking really really good, you can mess this up. You can kind of really make it a little more edgy, more of a grungy type feel you know you can get in there and really kind of work it in like that, as you can see, you can bring this kind of down a little more. If you want, if you really want to get a little more edgy, you can bring it towards the face. I mean you can do. You can do a lot with this, see that how it looks pretty good, even if you kind of try to mess it up and go for that, like kind of a more lived-in grunge, 90s grunge kind of look. You know this was a big kind of 90s grunge haircut. You know so it's just. I think it's coming out great man. Oh it's beautiful! Alright, are you right you ready to anyway? Alright, you, what okay, so I'm going to start out with some classical stuff and then just improvise into whatever comes Wow, no see oh wow and the hair looks when I'm watching the hair. As you and your filly, your master plan, Wow dudette, a us see this guy's argued. Let'S do one more. Ok, one more really give you guys, one more when I some folk stuff man, how about about like a folky sounded like Beatles tune? Well, right, how's that or you want something actually like straight-up folky like a murder, ballad, no um! No, let's do what you were going to do and that's a transition to insulate that that, like that, like so sees that ship type thing like that. Oh, like easy, yeah yeah, you know totally blackbird singing in the dead of night. Take these broken wings and learn to fly all your life. You were only waiting for this moment, blackbird singing in the dead of night. Take these second eyes and learn to see. Oh yo life, you were only waiting for this moment. Blackbird fly Blackbird fly in just like the dark black night. Ah, Thank You. Man well guys. Thank you! So much for watching and Josh, I'm gon na put a link to your website every website or some more people can yeah. I put a link to Josh's website, check him out this guy's world-renowned man, big-time famous guy, with what he does with his craft and his art right. It'S an art. What you do you know as a musician. It'S really an art man so, but thank you guys. So much for watching and I'll see you guys next time for more videos with ass long guy

Pavlitsa: This is the perfect hair and style for the haircut I would like to do to my boyfriend because he has exactly the same hair but it would be awesome if I could see all the steps one by one :/ I can't really tell what technique you are using. Thanks!! :)

TheSalonGuy: Hope you all enjoyed this. I have been getting a LOT of requests for media length wavy/curly cuts like this.

Lisa PPhoenix: OMG! I came looking for a nice cut for my son but I never expected this!! Kid's amazing and you were having a ball. Love this cut and the styling tips were spot on. Can't wait to try and I love that this will be easy for him to do on his own without complaint. He's almost 13 with gorgeous hair ( abit curlier than Josh ) that he refuses to style or cut. At least if I cut it like this it shouldn't be the end of the world to add the tidal wave and some product and go. Anyway thanx and to Josh, best rendition of blackbird I've ever heard bar none!!!

Priyadarshan Nag: Love how Stephen gives his models a platform to showcase their talents. Btw the mandolin playing was totally insane!

North Caroline: His hair looks great! You really shaped it and cleaned it up perfectly without taking off too much length.

Grace4eternity Spirit: OMG. My Father, played the Mandolin. Liked the video. I was a stylist for many years. My son has long, very curly hair. This is essentially what we do with his. However, he prefers air dry only. Thank you so much.

Gary Harden: WOW on both the hair & the mandolin! Could listen all day.

Lighting Struck: great video.. i have straight hair.. but still i appreciate the outcome of this video for curly hair. And the music is beautiful ! wow!

The Fiend: I want Steven to do my haircuts from now on. All of the end products are perfect. Meanwhile my Barber can’t understand what “A little off the top” means.

Adam Destro: Great job TheSalonGuy! Dude has nice hair by the way.

Danielle Ivey: Hey salon guy, been watching your videos for a while now. Love them, so helpful! Was wondering if you could show more women's cuts and color too? Thanks ;)

Priyadarshan Nag: Awesome! Enjoyed watching it till the end

Ransell: of course he plays an instrument.. as if his hair didn't make him godly on its own

Mystery 25: yooooooooooo this guy hair cut is AMAZING and to top it off with the music in the end, i freaked out! this is such an entertaining video! thanks for making this! :):):):):):):)

BOSNIAN_Bloke1111: would you recommend this style for someone with a maturing hairline? great stuff by the way! also if you have time could you try a Viggo Mortensen Aragorn hairstyle from lord of the rings? thanks!

Superhero Central: i really like your videos!!!! my brothers hair type is exactly like this what can i do to do a basic simple emo look?(like kellin quin)

natungspace: awesome work @thesalonguy. .m also having a medium long hair and i really wana have the cut u did without sacrificing the length, so much split ends and irregular hair length . . Man can u please suggest me some tips

Sweetexorcist7: Very detailed and informative

Marc Possoff: Hey Steve I don't love too far from your studio. My hair is like Josh's pretty much same length and texture.

tagcaesar: there's a HUGE difference with wavy and curly hair please don't mess it up!

xxx1169: great video! love the final look... how about a kit harington or adrian grenier type of hair hairstyle for your next video?

Eric Arriaga: Awesome playing bro didn't expect that after your hair cut.

BOSNIAN_Bloke1111: hey man, is there a way to avoid the mullet when growing hair out or does it have to come along in the process as i have read from people that you should trim the back part of your head (the hair where a mullet would usually form) so that it matches the sides and grows out evenly... what do you recommend? my hair is very similar in texture to this models you have in the video but I'm hesitant to trim the back as i want it to grow... hope that makes sense. Thanks! All the best!

cheveuxlongs1: Very beautiful hair !

andrewondrugs: me watching this to look like timothee chalamet during quarantine

Pjay: I LOVE his hair!❤

Sweetexorcist7: Amazing cut!!!!!

Dwight Schrute: How long does it usually take to grow hair that long?

BLUE GOAT: THIS CHANNEL ROCKS!! TOO MUCH WORK,TOO MUCH EFFORT, I CANNOT HANDLE IT SOOOOO NOICE!!!!

Julian Anton: How to keep your hair long: LET IT GROW!

Erika Garcia: I'm in cosmetology school and my good friend asked me to cut his hair but we've mostly practiced on straight hair mannequins...and clients. my friend has spiral curls. wants more shape but keep the length so I figured a layered approach would work. is that all you did for the haircut was a layer cut?

Sweetexorcist7: One of your greatest of all time! Great music too!

Dali Rjeibi: This ain’t no medium length! That’s the point i wanna reach with my hair growth.

MRS.C: Great job salon guy he's very cut love his hair nice

RaisedUP2: nicely done video but I liked the look of your hair even better before the haircut but still as haircuts go this one was good.

lawyerno1: can you do this without a diffuser though?

Maddie Dotterer: Wow that is amazing

Karlito Flores: Lol we don't like to much touching in our hair , my respect to this guy

Matthias K: I do have a quesion though, I've been growing my hair out for around 8 months now, and I got sort of the same hair as ur model does (only a bit heavier curls). The problem is, my hair is super healthy though, but it poofs up like mad when it drys, it doesn't fall down and my curls are extremly persistent. I don't use any styling product so far as I have no clue what to use for the moment, because I don't like getting my hair greasy with wax or a styling gel. Any advice?

Fox: probably a total off topic hair question, But i always grew my hair normal its curly and always was long to my nose. then for a year i did the side part and now that i dont do that haircut anymore and want a different style i stopped doing the side part ( didn't naturally have my hair parting barber always made the line ) now that i stopped doing so, it now grows parting without me even wanting the parting anymore. is their any way to get my hair to stop growing like its parting? do i have to cut my hair extra short? any advice is good, cutting my hair in a few days and i wanna know before i go.

Andrew Cruz: Anyone think the great Salon Guy can do Alex Turner's Humbug Era Hairstyle!! Plz respond

unsecurity: As always good video:)

coldwetdog: im growing out my hair like this but my hair is very straight. how can i make it curlier?

Fresh Martin: That's cool. How do we find barbers who are as passionate and knowledgeable in their field as you? I need a barber who makes me wanna play the mandolin after a haircut.

Mamang Sorbetero: When your teacher is teaching u how to fix your hair when he has no hair. LOL

Marie Garcia: It's just long, making the hair heavy. Shorter cuts will spring the hair up into a tighter curl.

Julian T: I have my sides at 2 inches and the top about 6 1/2 and I wanna have long hair. What should I do? Just leave it grow? Greetings
