I Went Short Again... At Home Diy Curly Haircut

NEW YEAR, NEW ME! This video is not a tutorial /tutorial of me (a professional hairstylist) causally cutting my own curly hair short and adding some DIY curly layers at-home. This video was filmed on a whim, as I decided to cut my hair in the spirit of the new year and all the new beginnings ahead! I hope this video inspires you to make a healthy hair change this year and wishing you a happy new year xo

After a lot of contemplation and deliberation, i feel like going on a new journey. I'M not gon na recolor, my hair, because my color is already a little bit new a little bit different, but i think i think we're gon na cut off a couple inches. If i don't do it, then how do? How are you gon na? Do it? Oh god, i don't know what i'm gon na. Do i'm gon na sleep on it it's late. I can't do this now, so we're gon na sleep on it. I have officially decided that i am going to be cutting my hair for the new year. What'S good, everybody welcome back to the channel, welcome to 2021, not sound cliche, but new year new me, i'm thinking a fresh start is going to be just what i need and maybe just what you need to i've shared lots of different haircutting tutorials on this channel. Before some diy at home tutorials this one's going to be a little bit different because i'm actually going to be removing length. In my previous tutorials, i showed you how to cut layers, but this one i'm going to be going from a longer length to a shorter length, and this isn't really a tutorial, but it's kind of a tutorial. This is more me, uh, just cutting my hair myself and uh. If you want to watch and follow along there's nothing, i can do about that now before we get into it and before any regrets maybe begin to happen. If you are new here, quick disclaimer, i am a licensed professional and we'll get into exactly how and what i'm going to be doing. But on that note, stick around stay tuned subscribe if you haven't already and without further ado, let's get to it. Okay! So a couple things i'm using as always when i'm cutting my hair. I have a cape around me because i don't want the hairs all over me also because my hair is blonde using a black background, helps me to see what's happening better. If you have dark hair at home, use something like a white cape or drape a garbage bag, i've done that a million times use something, that's white, so you can see what you're doing better. Underneath, oh my god, but remember this - isn't a tutorial. It'S like a! Not a tutorial tutorial now, i'm also using professional sheers when you are cutting your hair at home. Try to get the sharpest pair of scissors that you have. There are some good ones that are on amazon. These are my professional ones that i use. These are from mitsutani the puffin shears and i love them. I'M also going to have some clips nearby and for today's haircut transformation, i'm going to be doing it on my dry hair. Now, last year, in 2020, i did make a video on why you would want to cut your curly hair dry versus why you would want to cut it wet and i usually cut my hair wet, i'm usually doing a wet haircut. I even cut my hair when it is straightened and it does give you a different result. All the details are in that video, but for now i'm going to explain why i'm going to be cutting my hair dry today and it's because i'm going to be removing more length. So that's a note to self if you are going in with a big transformation, if you're removing a lot of length and a lot of layers, it's good to do a rough outline of your shape, while the hair is dry and then go in and refine it. When it is wet and make sure that everything is nice and even and concise, and everything is good, so what i'm first going to do is just separate the front section from the back of my head, so everything in front of the ear i'm going to keep This separated okay, so now i've sectioned my front from the back, and in this case i am cutting the longest point of my hair. First, a lot of times. I cut my layers first when i am just looking to maintain, shape and not cut any length, but because we're cutting length today, i'm cutting the length first and then we'll see what i have to do with the layers. It'S just the back. The back is just very saggy and when doing this, it's so important to make sure that you keep your head straight or in one position until you clamp the hair. So that's why i'm going to be putting in a hair tie just a regular hair tie. It'S black: it's tough to get the ponytail in your sails, so maybe call in some hail, amanda sister. If amanda doesn't come, i'm calling my mumsy she's always offering to help me cut my hair, even though i always say i don't need your help today. I could probably use some of her help. Can somebody help me she's here she came. She came to support me, i'm just trying to clamp it here and i'm cutting this off. Oh, my god, yeah man so put my hair in a ponytail. Very low point feel like gather all the hair not stretching not pulling it okay, but as it's naturally laying like gather like that. Okay, look i'll, show you on the mannequin, i'm not stretching her hair. Like this, i know we want low tension. Okay, i'm just gon na gather her hair. Okay, i've got the amount that i'm gon na be cutting pretty much and just you got ta put the hair tie now, there's going to be layers and everything sticking out. That'S good! That'S what we want. You want to. Just kind of gather and clamp the hair, okay finger comb, all the curls in one direction make sure they're all there. So previously my hair was very rounded all right, and now it's going to be more straight across the back and more blunt okay, you want to cut it now me i mean i could but you're here now and then we'll keep that little ponytail for keepsakes, we'll Auction it off for you guys later, just above the ponytail, i'm watching you. I can see everything that you're doing right here: okay, okay, but make sure that the hair is secured. I don't know okay yeah just above the ponytail. Don'T be shy right here, we're already cutting it right here. Okay, sure, oh, my god, wow these are man, i'm not a shirt. I'M gon na kill you. I can't believe you're doing this again. Oh my god. What'S up that was the most hair cut off in a minute, the bid will start at nine hundred dollars. That'S cheap one million dollars. Let'S let this down and kind of get the full vision see now that i've removed the bulk of the length. I can continue on with the shape and the layering. I need to do so. Yeah i mean this is now what we're looking like. It'S just much more blunt, a little heavy though a little too heavy, so i still want to make sure that there's a good amount of layering in the back, i'm going to gather my hair in another ponytail, but this time i'm going to keep the bottom of My hair out this is going to make sure that i'm not layering the bottom of my hair and it's going to keep it more kind of blunt. Oh, my god, amanda cut, it really short. Do i have to kill her? This is the hair that i'm leaving out, i'm leaving it just above where my head round, so that's above the occipital bone of your head kind of in line with my ear, the heavier you want, the bottom, the more hair you want to leave out, or also The more you want to elevate your hair, you'll notice when you're elevating your hair, which is what creates layers some hair may fall out and that's a good sign. Once you notice that hair starts to fall out, that's a good place to cut i'm just gathering this hair backwards straight backwards, i'm keeping my chin tucked as i'm moving backwards. I'M trying not to move my head too much. Now i'm going to pinch this hair and i'm just gon na chop this off just a little bit, but it will make a big difference. This is all that i just cut off. It'S like another inch, another circle of curl with every cut. I am obviously evaluating the situation before i just go in and cut more already more rounded in the back. The bottom is more rounded, rather than just like a ledge that just kind of squares off, but you know i'm just a layers girl. I need more layers back here this time, i'm not going to elevate my hair at all. I am going to be fluffing out my hair and cutting, as i see fit, split it down the middle, and this is where i see problems see what happened when all that hair came forward, this hair, that's in the back. It'S causing this kind of pyramid shape which isn't bad. I just want something a little bit rounder, i'm just going to cut a little bit all visual. This will not look perfect when it is straightened, but it can be perfected when it is straightened. I'Ll worry about that another time right now. I really just want to make sure that this shape looks tip top when it is curly now number one rule of thumb when cutting curly hair do not get too scissor-happy. I am pretty happy as it is right now when it is dry and i'm going to wash it restyle it and then i'll do any refining if necessary, then, but right now, scissors are down because i'll be back to show you the final result. I lied. I'M back before my hair is dry to show you a very quick and very important crucial step, the refining when your hair is wet. When you do a dry cut, you still need to cut some of it when it's wet to make sure that it's all good. You know i had some straggle pieces. I already cut this side and i'll show you the difference on this side see all these strands. Those are going to look like straggles, so just brush the hair and cut the very long random pieces. So now i'm just going to go ahead and style as usual, using my leave-in and curl cream. Oh my god, i just forgot. I don't have as much hair that shouldn't be too much but be careful when you're putting your product in. Remember that you don't have as much hair, i want volume, so i'm gon na whip it and flip it, and i'm gon na use a foam. This is a brand new protein foam, very lightweight, very light hold. Are you ready for the results here? They are. I love it. I think it's really fun. It'S so much lighter on my back. I can't i can't really reach it as much anymore. See now, all of my other layers that we've done in previous diy tutorials on this channel are very cohesive and it works with this length really really well and the new year is going to be much better calling it now we're manifesting, we're staying optimistic, we're staying Hopeful and we are putting ourselves first, i feel much better that i've taken care of myself a little bit and i do strongly encourage you. If you need to do some trimming to do it just do it. Do it but watch tutorials, like all the other ones, that i have on this channel to help you decide how to do it, and i truly have no doubt that you can still get a fabulous quarantine. New year's haircut, i'm wishing you a happy new year and i'll see you on tetri, tuesday, peace, wow, wow, wow. No, this is a bad idea. Oh hi friends, i don't know how to do this without the toilet being in the goddamn background she's. Just my emotional support right now, hi to youtube, i'm filming another video with her so she's she's here in the corner, sucks everybody freeze, everybody stops carefully, relax everybody. You could also use a trim name. This hair is dead. I'M a disaster, it's all of a sudden. Don'T yeah, i don't know where the hell you're putting that goddamn ponytail. Are you nuts ma'am the last couple inches? Oh, how many inches are we talking here? What am i doing? This is bad idea. Do i just cut across yeah? What'S up is my work here done it smells nice? Oh my god look at where it was cut. That is really satisfying to look at. It is yeah. That'S most hair cut off in a minute. Excuse me, excuse you, oh there's, no hair! Oh there's no hair! Oh there's no hair

Tynesha Morris: Honestly I feel like a lot of ppl found the courage to cut off their hair wheather it be dead ends, bangs, processed ends, heat damage or just a new cut after the dumpster garbage of a year we had n honestly I’m here for it ❤️

Eva McClellan: That length is perfect for you. It's sassy, just like you. I love all the movement you get when it's shorter.

Mitzy Cowdin: My husband keeps telling me I don’t need to cut my hair but you’ve convinced me otherwise. Just a trim

Amanda Guido: HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!! I HOPE U ENJOY THIS SURPRISE VIDEO ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

gabby k: Hi Mell! i just wanted to say ur such a big inspiration to me and i’ve learned soooo much from you. Because of u i did my science project on hair porosity and ended up getting second place! i just wanted to thank you so much!

Kate Christianse: I can only dream of having as curly hair as you (even short, it's not that curly) I love my wavy hair that sometimes decides to be curly for a few days after my weekly wash and refused to give in to the pressure to straighten it when no one could cut it right! I followed your videos on self cutting and before I returned to work from a 8 wk medical leave, cut about 3 inches off the over all length. Everyone was amazed at how much longer my hair was...go figure! Still working on the right combination of products to tame my hair and your videos are a great resource

driftingofftosleep: Clicked immediately, haven't watched yet but yesssss let's go short girl! Fresh starts are the best

Diana Carolina Vasquez Argudo: Eek so excited to see the after. I followed your haircut diy and I freaking love my hair. I've never been happy when I have gone to a salon! I followed your method for styling and my curls look sooooo good. Thanks Mel !!!!

Gena Marie: Happy new year, Mel & Amanda! Love the new shorter haircut! I just got a very similar cut a couple of months ago to get a more rounded U shape and I’m so glad I did! It’s so much more manageable

Eesha Ali: Thiss was so unexpected!I was so sad that there was no texture tuesday but im gladd to see you again

MyHiPoFro: Happy New Year, Mel! I'm doing the opposite for the new year. No more big cuts. Only as needed dustings or light trims. Your hair looks great either way!

Sandra Reid: This makes sense. I do a hybrid of these techniques thanks to the ladies of YT. I condition my hair and trim a little curl by curl. Style and dry it and then the next day I get my husband to trim the back straight probably an inch. We work together using mirrors and not had a bad cut to date. When my hair was relaxed I hated paying to get my hair messed up. I have different curl patterns and porosity in my hair and only I know how my hair dries/curls. DIY cuts forever ♥

Laura MacBride: Mell! I needed this video! I have been doing the pigtail haircut on my very fine low density hair and ended up with about an inch and a half of whispy thin hair at the ends in back. The blunt cut and layering the top layer might just be the ticket! Thank you so much! You rock! Happy 2021!

Kanani Lania: Thank you so much for this video!!!!! In early December I cut a good amount off of my curls for the first time in 3 years. My hair was healthy but I've grown to love my curls and needed a change so I went short just like you and added layers. At first I didn't like it because it's such a dramatic change to go from almost butt length to chest length. This video made me realize that it was a great decision and it will just grow back even stronger. Keep up the good work gorgeous!!!

Zuleyma Cordero: Thank you so much for helping me on my curly hair journey and all the tips you have shown me!!

Sarah C: That length & shape looks really good on you! Did a major chop of my hair a few days before neck surgery to make hair care easier for me & my husband. Watched lots of DIY tutorials & turned into a super cute modified A-line bob. It's tough to do proper wave care with my recovery restrictions, but even skipping several normal steps, it doesn't look too bad. Will be nice when I'm able to straighten it to see if I missed any slight length bits, & see it in that style, but either way, happy not to have the extra work while I heal up. <3 Hope you seesters have a lovely new year!

Laura Ovall: Mell your hair looks so nice! Thank you for posting hair cut tutorials! I have used one of your tutorials to add layers to my own hair, and learned from you why doing the "unicorn" cut gave me bangs yea waiting that one out... Anyway I enjoy watching you and Amanda, even though my hair is only wavy, you remind me of my sister's.

Bleus Chat: I love it! Who knew Mel could look even better? ❤ My hair is supposed to look like her mannequin head, color and all. But as my last visit to my amazing stylist was one year ago this month, I'm rocking the Covid Self Cut & Color, as so many of us are these days. Happy New Year to all, 2021 is going to be better!

nunya: ive been rewatching ur haircutting videos for the past week picking up my scissors and then getting scared and putting them down.. so happy i saw this one! i feel so much for comfortable doing a dry cut and you gave me the push and tips i needed to cut off the length that need to go !

Natalie: MA'AM!!!! This haircut is STUNNING I love it!!!! Your curls are just beautiful in general, but they look esp gorgeous with this new haircut. I hope this inspires more people to get their curls cut a lil shorter if they're on the fence about it!!! I've always wanted shorter hair and was made to be so nervous about it, but I got it CHOPPED last summer with layers and everything and I've never felt more like myself!! It truly is a magical thing!! Hope this new year is a lovely one for you, Mel!

Katie: Was literally in the process of following your #pigtailscut when the notification came through. Needless to say, when I get the courage back, I will definitely be watching this again to put some layers in the back. Thank you for always being my guide.

connie GERARDI: Another excellent video, thank you so very much!! So glad i found you!!! And since i did, my hair is so much better Because of you I've been paying more attention to my mop and am so grateful for you and hap hap happy! I have finally embraced my curls instead of drying the crap outta trying to make the hair pin straight, making my hair dry as hay. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!

Elizabeth Orsillo: Great self haircut job! I’m getting my hair cut next week, too. Since I’m too chicken to cut my own hair, my hairdresser will cut it for me, always a wet cut. I love the Curlsmith products and I’m eager to try their new protein line!

Krystle Life: I've been planning to cut my hair for the new year! Your tutorials for hair cuts have changed the game for me!

Rachel Watson: Snap! I cut my hair using your pigtail cut tutorial on Dec 28th! I only took a little off as I was scared (first at home cut ever) but it turned out good (thanks to you! )! You are one of the good things that happened to me and my hairs in 2020, so thank you and your seester you guys are the best

La Marie Gui: i love your videos! ive learnt so much! i cut my hair a few months back real short and now im finally reaching shoulder lenght of mostly healthy hair, definitely sleeping on it is a great idea! if i had i wouldnt have cut it so short lol

Jazmin Jordan: Beautiful haircut, Mell! Love how you layered your hair. Beautiful results with Curlsmith's new protein foam!

Mᴀʀsʜʏ: Aw Mel! Your hair is absolutely gorgeous!! I absolutely love it!! 2021 is off to a great start ❤️❤️ Keep up the great work!!

Juliana Sylvester: Your haircut looks great Mel and you made it look so easy!!!! Happy New Year!

LaVonne Eby: Love it! I spent last year growing out my hairs and this makes me want to go short again! :D

Stephanie Montoro: Yup, I'm doing it haha I've been thinking about it for weeks so here I go!! Perfect timing, I needed this!! happy new year!!

Ari Gardner: You’ve helped me so much! I big chopped 6 inches last month and it felt great!

Kristen Tardio: You look amazing with both long and short hair. With your face shape, both work so well. My stylist cut mine a lot shorter than I expected back in October, and I have a very square face, so I'm still getting used to it, trying to take good care of my very fine strands to grow it just a little longer without it looking thin and scraggly at the bottom. Happy new year to the seesters, and here is to a year of better things, including even better curls!

Shannon Guy: Thank you for doing this video. My hair is in desperate need of a hair cut and I dont think we will be out of lockdown for a while yet. SO THANK YOU! xx

Theresse Grady: Love this! I'm going to follow your lead and advice and just do it! Happy New Year, seesters! ❤

wavygirljessie: Was so excited seeing today's video on a Friday! The cut looked amazing, would this work for wavier and looser hair textures? I'm always in a constant state of debating whether to let my hair grow or chopping it all off

_Tera__: That moment when you like Mell's video before even watching it. Happy 2021!!

AJ B: You look great!!!!! The cut looks amazing. I have been binge watching your videos this past month (im addicted!)and am recomitting to my curls!!!! (3b) you are sooo smart (and hilarious). Thank you so much for helping us curly girls. I was wondering though, are there any products I can use to give me a looser curl? Like if I used a straightening balm would my curly chill out a bit? If not, what would you recommend to loosen my 3b's?? Sometimes I get tired of looking like shirleytemple... thanks again Mel!!!

Lizzimia: Well I only found this today. I’m so behind on my YouTube viewing. I’m so glad I did though, I needed a haircut. I never do it without revising with a Manesbymell video though. I loved today’s one. I got my absolutely terrified hubby to do the initial back bit with the hairband. He was sooo scared with the responsibility . It’s currently air drying and the shaping with it wet looks great, which is always a good sign. Thank you x

Janyhollo: BEAUTIFUL!! Thank you. I’m going to try this! Have naturally curly hair like yours and I haven’t been to a salon since last January due to Covid. I’ve been trimming by myself and needing just more layers thank you so much!

Alyssa Hitzges: LOVE this. Thank you so much for sharing. It looks amazing!

HeyitsGina!: Girl I've been doing your pigtail cut to trim my hair it's been so helpful thank you!

C L: Love the new length Mell!!!! ❤❤❤❤It looks so good, hopefully when I get my new years cut it will look as good as yours.

Bree White: Omgeeeeee, I am so excited to get to watching you do this!! I am only 40 sec in and filled with anticipation!!! I KNOW its gonna look so good. I always loved your hair shorter. It's great long as well, but super becoming on you a bit shorter too!!! Ok, I am going back to watching as I enjoy a cuppa coffee on this beautiful snowy 1st day of 2021!! BRING IT 2021!!!! :)

Susanne LaCorte: Happy New Year! Your hair looks great!! Loved watching this video. Although, I would be scared shitless to cut my own hair. Lol. Can you please explain the difference between using the Curlsmith balm and soufflé gel verses the weightless air cream snd hydro jelly? Thanks.

Liza M Galletti: I freaking love it!!! It looks so much healthier! Your curls looks shiny!!!! YAAAAAAAAAS HONEY!!!!❤️

Sa B: Yessss!!!!! I’ve been thinking the same thing with my curly hair...fresh start with a fresh cut! Can’t wait for the salons to reopen!

Darlene Chiodi: You make it look so easy!! Looks great! I got too scissor happy with my quarantine cut so I’m just patiently waiting to get some length again lol

Amparo Caraveo: Dude, your hair came out perfect! I love it! I followed the cut y'all did at home for Amanda and my hair came out BOMB! i dont have social media or else id tag yall to check it out but, ‍♀️.. thanks for all the great content and keep it up! I definitely gain from watching!

Gail Bennett: Your hair always looks great! Love the shorter look! See you next Tuesday! And a Happy new year to you and your seester!

Emaan Serghini: Gorgeous hair! Btw, when we're diffusing do we start to move our hair around (in order for the roots to not get flat) before or after the curls start to set?

Sogand Karimian: You're right this isn't a tutorial this is literally art. Thank u

Emma Swan: I need to cut my hair so this video came at the perfect time! Thanks mel, happy new year

Cheryl Lord: I love your cut and thank you for the demo, perfect! Happy New Year!

AtwaterMarci: I just started watching you. My daughter has super curly hair and mine is straight and short... Learned a lot from you already. Love your fun attitude too.

Deanna: Love it!! Wasn't expecting a post... 2021 is off to a great start...happy new year!!! Xoxo

Minna Uyeda: Happy New Year to the seesters . I love the spontaneity and fresh look!

J Nelsimpson: You did great! The shape with the new layers is awesome!!! ❤️

Meh: I am living for the most adorable sneeze my ears heard. Waaaaaaaah!!!! So kawaii. And Mel's skin is glowing oh so lovely. I was really scared she was having mental break down and was going to just chop everything off.

ibuaye5: I love you Mel! Happy New Year! You always lift my spirits! Loved the cut!

Anna Burns: Your hair looks great! It's nice and bouncy. I like bouncy. I was wondering if you would do a review of the new curl smith protein line, the 3 products? The curl cream, the foam and the bond fixer. I'm curious about them. I like that they don't have glycerin in them. I can't use much glycerin at all because I live in the high desert with very low dew points. I'm always on the hunt for low or no glycerine products. Thanks Mell!

Natali Carmona: You guys need to review Coco and Eve! I’ve seen their products and I need to know if their worth the price. Love you Mell! ❤️

Bonnie Emile: OMG!!!! Perfect gift for the New Year! A new video!!!! Beautiful! ❤️ You look sooooo cute with shorter hair!!! I love it!

japaneseanimefreak93: I did a unicorn trim last month (I know, bad me) and it left my ends really thick and blunt. Watching another video of yours (the one with your couzin) I FINALLY got that part fixed...now I just need a clean up that doesn't affect the random a$$ cowlick on the back of my head. Thank you for your videos

Roshna Rach: I've been trying to grow my hair for almost a year but every single time you post a hair cutting video, I end up cutting my own hair too. Poor me. Also, your hair looks bomb! Don't kill Amanda

Martay Corrales: HAPPY NEW YEAR PRECIOUS!! LOTS OF LOVE AND BLESSINGS TO YOU AND YOUR FAMILY!!! ❤️

corinne spanelewski: I got a good hair cut yesterday and omg did I need it badly. She did an amazing job my curls really popped with all the layers. I think a good hair cut every now and then is a good thing.

Rachel Sanchez: I've just started researching how to take care of my curls the right way. I'm 42 years old and learning to love myself; it is time to do my hair right! I've seen other people refer to their "curl crush" and I didn't get it... Now I DO!! I don't think I've ever had an actual good hair cut my whole life. I'm scared of bangs but that's because they were always cut for straight-hair styles. I'm going all in! Thank you so much for your guidance and for lending me courage!

Carly Fengel: Looks great! Coming from someone with above-the-chin hair I find it adorable and funny that you call this "short hair" :D

Clau Panquecito: New year, new hair Happy new year seesters! And happy new year everyone! Hope we all have amazing hair, all year round!

Justy: Here I am, wondering how I could trim my hair (I don’t have layers, they don’t work for me) myself. Going over 200km for a trim feels like a lot now. And now you show how to cut more length!

Michelle Garcia: Melli, really loves a lot of volume for her hair, and is addicted to hair. I'm glad she loves it.

c m: I was searching for help to take care of my dried damaged curls from dying it. Sooooo happy I found your channel to help my curls look better I was so lost on what to do! Now I have options thank you

Sassy Frassy: HOLY CANOLI! Literally the tutorial I needed TODAY! Thank you, seesters!

Krista K: Happy new year! My hair needs to be trimmed and layered too, it’s been since July .

Jenny Ann Fraser: Happy New Year! Love the hair! Thank you both for all you do!

Ashley Vargas: This was exactly what I needed, thank you!

Ana Laura Soltero: I’m inlove of your geniality!!!! And the trust in your sister to let her cut your hair is WOOOOWWWW! Hahaha! Keep doing this FOR-E-VER, please! Both of you!...

karinac1999: Watching Mell cut her hair while applying my olaplex 0 and 3. Looking hot as always!! I was thinking of doing a trim, but only a trim. I've been trying to get my hair to grow out for a loooong time already. It grows at such a slow pace now.

Jaeli Rodriguez: Just got a surprise visit from my beautician mom, I asked for a trim and she went for a cut. Looks so good though! Thanks Mel! Happy New Year!!

Marie Bo: Hi, Mel! Love your hair! Question. I keep hearing curly hair shouldn’t be thinned. I have super thick curly wavy hair and want to go short. How do I cut down the bulkiness? Hope you can help. Thank you!

Marina King: Happy New Year. I cut my own hair a few months ago. Did the color too. Your hair looks so amazing. ❤️

Sara Ali: You made so pretty and easy to work on short hair. I went short with no layer almost two weeks ago and couldnt style my curls as i used to .. i enjoy it when it is straight however regret it when i want to go curly in some days and i really do not want any layers in my hair for now

catdog dogcat: Thanks again for more instructional and entertaining curly hair cut tutorials. I feel way more in control of my hair. New year, new haircut. Looks great! Are you saying goodbye to your blonde?

Starie Hearts: I cut my hip length hair into a bob a week ago to remove tons of damage and I'm excited for my journey to begin, I'm on the road to growing healthy, vibrant curls! This time I'm gonna treat my hair right :)

Bree White: Ohhhhh YES, super awesome girlfriend!!! I love it!! Amen to manifest the GOOD :) Happy 2021 to you and Amanda!

Jasmin K: Ahh it looks good! I wanna cut my own hair but im scared to mess the back of my head up since its hard to see.

buddy holly: I don't even have curly hair but i watch all of your videos lol. I find you and your sister entertaining and informative. I found you when i was debating if i should try wearing my hair in its natural wavy texture. I decided it was too much work and my hair looks good straight anyways (not damaged or anything).

Akshaya Ravikumar: The timing of this video was perfect. I was gonna cut my hair tmrw.

Sunshine Soldier: She’s a literal hair dresser she went to school for this stuff I don’t know how she was so stressed if anyone can do it it’s her

Lisa Townsend: Could not think of a better way to start 2021. Again, thank you for being a bright spot in 2020. Happy New Year Seesters.

Tanner Chuntoth: I can't think of a better kickoff to 2021! I needed this energy today!

Jean Marité Camero: I need you in Chile!! In my 31 years i have never find a hair styler that knows and understand curls as you do! Not even in Venezuela (where i used to live and is a country with A LOT of curls) no one cares about curly hairs, everybody wants straigh hair, so no one makes an efford to style curls... So thanks for trying teaching us how to cut our hair

Kati Benzer: It looks great! Happy New Year Mell and Amanda!

Isabella Carvajal: I basically just got this haircut, and I love it

Kenna Harrison: Love love love! I have the same hair curl and need to cut the back perfect explanation! I need to grow bang area still. Thanks

Frankie Musten: This length is my favorite on you!!! Looks amazing

Regina Euzebio: Yaaaay!!! The mane reason I started watching your videos was because of your short curly hair!:D

Mané Pipoca: OMG! I haven't watched this tutorial but I also went shorter for the new year! And I did a good job! ☺☺☺
