Colourful Feed-In Braids With Extensions ( For Beginners!)Tutorial For Summer 2019

I wanted a fun, colourful hairstyle for summer/festival hair. I went with these colourful feed-in braids, aka ghana braids! It involves colour extensions that you can get in any colour on ebay! I love it and I wish I could've worn in longer but I had to take it out due to an event I went to. Let me know if you try it!

Hi guys it's Lana here and today, I'm giving you some color festival glam, so I am gon na be doing feeding braids with colored extensions. I'Ve done feeding braids before like just a little bit once on my channel, so there will be and there's another tutorial. Basically, you can click up here and it's all about feeding, braids and box braids and just creating like a really nice summer style these I actually got them from Amazon or Ebay. I think they're from eBay. Actually they were so cheap. I think maybe they were like. Eight or nine pounds each I went for these two ombre colors. I haven't used them before I've not done color feeding braids before so. This is a bit of a challenge, a bit of an experiment for me, but I'm pretty confident I can do it. I know the technique anyway. I want to share the technique with you guys, and hopefully we can create something that looks pretty cool. If you guys like this video, then please thumbs it up. Also don't forget to subscribe to my channel I'm here all the time. I'M just so consistent, I'm the queen of consistency. That'S just be real, so who's gon na wait for you guys to do that and also get me older. I just picked this Bob now wasn't gon na be on Instagram, but for the aesthetic he's done with his room that you do not see on YouTube. That'S just the tea. I feel that being said, let's jump into the tutorial, so my technique might differ a little bit from others that you've seen. But that's because I want mine to look like it could have been professional. You know, like I've, seen a lot that look kind of amateur, and I kind of want mine to leave you happy with how hair looks really just want to blow people's minds with this look like. Is that your real hair? Where did it come from? How are you doing this right now? That'S the aim that we're going for so first things. First, you're gon na part, your hair, so I'm just gon na pop my hair right down the middle. I actually washed my hair yesterday and didn't really put much product on it, so that means it means that my hair do tangles really easily cuz. I guess it's not clumped into clothes or anything. It'S just loose like this, so just separates really easily. That'S why? I did that, I don't think we fit in at this party and everyone's that so much to say when we walked in. I said, i'm sorry yeah, but now I think that we should say: oh and you can use a pintail comb for this. Some people call it a rat tail comb. Pintail comb sells a bit nicer, just used to help you get a straight part een. So when you have your hair sectioned off like this, oh, when you have your hair like this, go ahead and section one side off. So that you can work on the other side, because if you don't do this step, it's gon na keep getting in the way and stuff like that which you do not want pending on what your hair is. Naturally like you can skip this step. But if your hair is like mine like if it's gon na be big, if it's gon na be puffy, if there's a chance, it's gon na be tangled first of all, brush it through and then also you might want to wet it as well. Just to make it a little bit easier just to see what's what what's what what what I've just been detangling my hair a little bit, I'm gon na spray it with some water cuz like as you can imagine for me anyway. This is kind of hard to work with, so I'm not sure going to use some twisting to find cream because I'm thinking of wearing my hair as a braid out after I'm done with these braids. So you can skip this step as well or not. I'M just going to use this just to help my hair feel a bit more nourished and to keep the style on some done with this style. Before I do braids and let my hair dry in braids, when I take it out, it's going to be wavy. Did you get me that's what this is for and then towards the ends of my hair. I'M actually also gon na take some coconut oil because there's a chance. I might wear this style for a while, and I don't want my hair to dry out. So we use some coconut oil okay. So now I've just brushed my hair back in the direction that I think I'm gon na want it to go in, which is obviously this way so just to make it easier to find pieces of hair for the braids. I'M just doing this because you are gon na want to make this as easy as possible for yourself, because it's about to get complicated, so you want to take it out of the bag. You'Re gon na want to cut this elastic band right here. So we cut elastic just unravel this, then we're gon na want to separate this into two, because we need some for this side and some for the other side. So just go ahead and separate into two like this, this to one side far away and then we're also gon na use some of this color in the same braid. So we're gon na need to prepare this before we even get started and again you're gon na need to cut the elastic and again separate in two so that you have some left for the other braid. Okay. Now things are gon na get really tricky, because what you need to do is you need to separate these into small pieces so that they are easy and readily available for when you need them when you're actually doing the braid, so you're gon na want to take Pieces kind of like this size and just lay them down somewhere so that you can grab them small pieces, the cake, separate them and same again with the pink one, and that is about to make your job ten times easier. So I'm just gon na lay my edges. I'M using this edge control, it's the monoi oil from ORS, so it might just make things easier to do it now then, waiting into the end and then maybe you've touched your baby hairs into the braid, and you can't get it back out again and as a Disaster so we're just gon na pull them down so that they don't get lost in the braid, and it might also help us to decide where we want to take hair from when we're doing the braid. If that makes sense, I mean this is gon na. Be really hard, if you don't know how to print braids, if you don't know how to French braid or cornrow. However, you want to call it. Then I advise you go watch one of my other videos. I have got tutorials up here, so if you guys need to learn how to cornrow do that first and then come back so you're gon na want to take this section of your hair and you're gon na want to split this into the ring. The same way that you would normally do a braid and make sure that they are even and then just go ahead and braid like how you would braid a cornrow. So it goes underneath for about two turns just to get that solidly in place. Then, when you're here, when you're about to take another piece of hair in put one of these in instead, so one of it goes here where you pinched it, and one of the bit goes over and then grab a piece of hair. Just as you were going to exactly the same way as you were just about to already do it and then continue as normal, just make sure you hold on tight these pieces, try and keep your braids tight and then we'll do this one normally on this one. We'Re gon na take another piece of hair in this piece. Just continue like normal and it's gon na start making your hair look really thick bring another plate. Piece pinch it here with this finger, maybe other one over the hand like this seal the deal bring in another piece of hair, just as you would have done with a little braid, keep it tight next piece and whenever you take Harry and try to keep it. Looking neat and tidy it's hard to do it on your own hair. I know now at this point I'm happy to take in some pink ones, so we're going in with the first pink one it might make it easier for you to see what's going on. So it's going there. The other part is going over like this. We'Re pinching it here and we're sealing it in with my hair. Try and keep it tight like when you get to the back, is gon na start feeling really difficult to keep it tight and flatten to your head. It'S a mistake. I always make really pretty now cuz. We have like a mismatch of colors. My first attempt I feel like I might change it and go for more pink up at the top, so we're gon na do this half now, so I'm just going to detangle this half get it wet, get it prepared the same as I did for this file. Let'S go I'm gon na. Do things a little bit differently? I think I want to bring this lighter color closer to the top, so that we can see it up here cuz I just. I would like to see that, like this side definitely has like a smooth transition, but I just wan na see like more color at the top, so I might change this side afterwards, so just like before you're gon na want to take the top section like this. Go ahead and split it into three like this and then go under then this one comes under and do that once again, just to make sure it's nice and secure under under I'm gon na take some pink right from the stop and the way that we do. This is you're gon na want to pinch this here, and this is gon na go over with this piece of hair right. You see this. These two were together now together. Now your bond will never break okay right. So then you want to secure it by taking in that piece of hair that you would have taken in in a little corner, and now this is gon na come over. Keep it tight. Take another piece of hair right here, so we're gon na take this black piece. That'S gon na go there piece of hair is gon na come in keep everything tight and secure. Okay, I think this one looks a lot better than the other one just cause. There'S more color a little bit closer to the top okay. So now both of my braids are done. I did bring some more color up closer to the top on this one. I'M still not sure how I feel about it, but anyway those are my braids, and what I want to do now is just a really want to like thicken them out a bit, so I'm just gon na pull them. So this is what you need to do to thicken it just literally pull on it and who some people say. This doesn't work for them, but can't relate sorry. I just look you literally just pull thinking it make it huge with this kind of thing. If you are wearing it to a festival, definitely accessorize it. So I have all of these things. I got these from LaMotta like years ago, so I'm just you're just gon na go ahead and open them up so that I can just slide it into the braid. In certain places, so I also have these little gems and I'm gon na slide these into the center of the brain like here.

Loving the videos by the way!!!

Jessica Donnelly: Okay I bought 2 packets of these really cool ombre coloured hair extensions from a market, I assumed they were clip ins but they're the type you use in this video. Seeing this tutorial I want to try it out since however I am white ( Australian) I'm wondering if it would be considered cultural appropriation/ innapropiate of me to do these braids?
