Hey y'all, i'm kenzie ray welcome and welcome back to my channel. So in today's video i will be showing you guys how i got these really easy and cute knotless jumbo box, braids or, as some people call them oily ray braids. These braids only took me about two hours to do and it saved me lots of money by just doing it myself. So if you want to save some money to a girl just keep on watching so, as you guys can see, i've already parted my hair and prepped it for this style. I also did these two back braids just so i can get my technique down before. I showed you guys also. I will have a parting tutorial coming out on how i did my jumbo parts so definitely be on the lookout for that video. So i'm gon na go ahead and get started with my first section and first i'm using this second touchdown edge control, and this is definitely my favorite edge control right now. It just lays everything down nice and sleek the way we want it and you can find it at your beauty supply store. I think it was only like maybe 5.99 and everything that i use in this video will be in the description box below so definitely check that out. So i'm just applying that all over this section and then i'm going to take a rubber band and just secure the hair, just making sure everything is nice and neat and when putting on the rubber band, you want to just make sure that you leave like a Little space in between the rubber band and your hair, because we are going to be sticking the crochet needle through here and pulling our braiding hair underneath the rubber band. And now i'm just taking some more of that edge control. And i'm going to be putting it on the ends of my hair, and this is just to kind of get rid of the frizziness and just make sure that my hair stays nice and laid while um inside of the braid. So i'm just putting that on there and then i'm kind of combing it through, like i said, just to make sure everything is nice and sleek and laid the way it should be, and the hair that i'm using is just some regular braiding hair from the beauty Supply store, i cannot remember the name of this specific brand, but i do know that it comes in a blue pack and it has a butterfly on it. Also, i just used regular braiding hair. I didn't use the pre-stretch because i just think that for this style i just wanted the braids to look full at the ends and i pretty much used a full pack of the hair. Besides the small piece that i took out, but i used a good bit of the hair and then i just split that piece into two halves and next i'm going to go ahead and begin crocheting. The hair in and i'll just be using this little crochet hook or needle whatever it's called, and it has like a little latch on the end. You want to make sure that the latch is closed when you stick it through the braid, even though sometimes it comes undone stick the latch underneath the rubber band and then i'm taking the braiding hair, and i'm just twisting it because this helps the hair stay on The hook, because sometimes it can be a little too thick for it, so i'm just attaching the hair to the hook, and then you want to close the latch and then pull it underneath the braid. Then, after you've pulled the hair through you just unhook the latch and you're going to take one side of the braiding hair and pull it through and just kind of make sure that the other side stays in place. So after you pull one side through, you will end up with two pieces of hair on each side of your part. So now i'm taking the crochet needle and i'm doing pretty much the same thing, i'm putting the crochet needle underneath that rubber band again taking another piece of braiding hair, twisting it putting it onto the hook and pulling it through. Except for this time. I put it at a different angle, so it kind of makes a crisscross, whereas the last time you guys saw me go up to the left this time. I went up to the right, so it made like an x, but i'm pretty much doing the same thing. Pulling the hair through on one side, so that's going to leave me with two different sides of the hair. Okay. So now we have three different sections of hair. We have both of our two pieces that we pulled out on the sides and i have my hair in the middle. So now i'm just taking some of each side just so. I can give my hair a little piece of hair to depend on so now we have three different sections of hair. So now that i have all my sections separated, i'm going to go ahead and begin braiding and, as i'm braiding, i like to scoop up some of the edge control on my fingers and just kind of smooth it out throughout the braid just to make it shiny And make my hair stay in place, and once i get down to the length that i want them, i'm just going to be securing it with a rubber band, and this is how it's looking so far by doing the crochet method, with the rubber band and sticking The hair underneath the rubber band it just gives it like the knotless look, and i think this is such a brilliant idea. I actually saw this method on youtube myself and i tried it out and it came out so good as you guys can see. So now. I'M going that now, i'm going to go ahead and finish the rest of my hair. When i get to the front, as you guys can see, i'm just taking my little edge toothbrush and taking my baby hairs out so that they won't end up in the braid and i'm going to go ahead and do this one on camera. Just so you guys can get another look at how the whole process is. Then we will begin curling and dipping the ends of the hair, this all right y'all. So i got all done with braiding and my camera died. So this is actually the next day and, as you guys can see, i had already dipped my hair. Using these purple perm wads um. I ended up having to rush and go somewhere, so my hair didn't dry it just it wasn't it so. I'M redoing my curls at the end and, like i said, i'm using the purple pack of perm rods and i'm just wrapping my hair around the rods making sure that i tuck the ends nice and tight and then i'm going to secure it with the little end Of the perm rod - and this is how it looks after i've secured it, and it doesn't have to be perfect because once you put it in the hot water, it is going to wrap around the rod on its own. And while you're doing this part, i would say: go ahead and start boiling your water now you can do it on the stove using a pot, but i just used a measuring cup. I filled it up with water and i put it in the microwave for five minutes and that worked for me. So i'm just going to go ahead and finish up the rest of this side of the hair and then i'm gon na go and get the water. So now i have my hot water and you also want to make sure that you have a towel handy because you do not want to burn yourself girl be careful. So now i'm just taking a couple of the pieces. You don't want to do too many at a time because, like i said you don't want to burn yourself and i'm just putting it in the water and i'm letting it sit for maybe like just a couple seconds, maybe like 30 seconds and then i'm taking it Out and drying it off with the towel. So now i'm just doing the same thing to the other pieces of my hair, just dipping it into the water making sure it's nice and saturated and then i'm going to dry it off with my towel. So i let my hair cool off for about 10 minutes and it is still a little damp, so i'm just going to carefully slide the perm rod from the curl or from the braid. Like i said, you want to carefully do this because the hair is still a little damp and i want it to keep its form, but this is just how everything is looking so far, i'm going to continue taking them out and i will show you guys the Results: okay, y'all here are the results. I think it came out so cute y'all. I did not think it was gon na come out this good. I just absolutely love them and, like i said, i didn't use the pre-stretched hair because i just wanted the whole braid to just look nice and cohesive and it to just look nice and full, and i wanted to go for the jumbo look. So i did use like a whole pack, but you guys saw that i took like a small um portion of it out, but it's pretty much the whole pack, so this style did last me about two weeks and i have 14 braids in my hair, like i Said it only took me about two hours to do this style. It did take me about an hour to part my hair, which i will have that video coming up very soon after this one, so make sure you are subscribed all of the products that i used for my hair will be linked below. I really hope you guys enjoyed it. Please don't forget to like comment and subscribe and also, if you want to see more easy, tutorials from me, definitely subscribe to my channel.
