I'M definitely afraid that it's not gon na look right and i may come out looking a mess, but you know: there's wigs, there's cutting it all off. So you're, just gon na take the leap and i trust my stylist she's done amazing work. So i think i'm in good hands hi i'm paige and i am getting a platinum blonde. Curls done today, i haven't always been comfortable with my natural hair. I definitely have flat ironed it out, pressed it out, but nowadays i'm very comfortable. I think, especially for me as a black woman like hair, is a very big part of our identity and it's a big part of how we represent ourselves in the world, so i think it's time to finally do something. I'Ve been wanting to do for a very long time. The most exciting thing i think that can come out of today is just feeling like a new person. There'S just been so much sameness this last year and i'm excited for a change. I'M excited to see something on myself that i've never seen before. I'Ve always had very curly hair. I went through one moment. Lord i'll probably share this with you guys, an embarrassing picture when i tried to relax it and that did not go well, and so i never did that again, but i've gone through short. You know you've seen me, i've been blue with a little bit of light. Blue i've been black with blonde. I'Ve tried to do like a little punky rock situation. We'Ve been all over the world so definitely want to show this look to my husband, i kind of told him. I was like you're going to have a whole new like woman. This is going to be like you get the wife and then you're going to get the girlfriend. When i come home, it's going to be really funny to see how he reacts to it. There are a couple different celebrity inspirations, like rihanna did like this blonde shag back in the day that was just so edgy and hot, and recently i saw melanie fiona, get her hair colored blonde and she looked beautiful, and so after that i was like okay, i'm Not waiting anymore hi, i'm elena, i'm a curly colorist at salon, kazumi in beverly hills. Today, i'm going to make paige platinum blonde from scalp to ends. I am best known for blonding curls with zero damage. I do a ton of different curly girls, mostly color. I do brunettes and blondes. I do some redheads as well. Curls mean everything, it's all about diversity and, being yourself and embracing yourself, you know everyone has their own curl pattern and their own texture. So i think it's just really fun to embrace whatever you have hi. How are you i'm elaine, i'm going to be taking care of you today, i'm elena, i'm good, i'm paige, i'm so excited it's so nice to meet you so we're going to be going platinum blonde today. Yes, yes, amazing! So are you excited or nervous um? Let'S say a healthy mix of both yeah. What are your main concerns? My main concern is that just worried about my curl pattern. I do wear my hair straight and curly, but worry about that word. It'S going to fall out. You ready to get started. Yes, okay, let's get started first, i will have my assistant drape page, so we don't get any color on our clothes. I'M going to brush out her curls to help product saturation. Sometimes, when applying color on curly hair, you can misstep in product saturation, i'm going to section her hair from front to back in three sections, i'm going to start at the nape of her head and work in paper, thin sections applying bleach in 20 volume. I'M going to keep the lightener about a half an inch off her scalp, because the heat of her scalp will process that section faster. I'M going to continue up the entire head using the same form until every strand of hair is saturated. I will then go through and apply bleach and 20 volume to the rest of her scalp and allow to process until that reaches a pale yellow as well once the entire head reaches a pale yellow. I'M going to pull all of the foils out and rinse with cool water. I'M then going to apply olaplex number three and brush through and let sit for about 10 minutes. I'M then going to mix an alpha part, milano, demi-permanent, color, half clear and half 10.02 and apply a scalp to ends. I'M going to let process for 10 minutes, i'm going to rinse and then start styling in small sections on very wet hair. I'M going to apply a weeda gel and brush through each section, with a denman brush to ensure that her curls form smooth and frizz free. I'M then going to diffuse until she is completely dry and now time for the mirror reveal all right. Here'S the big reveal. Oh, my god, oh my god and the curls are like, like it's still like so soft. Oh, my god. Oh my gosh, okay hold i'm on it looks so good, i'm just not available for anyone anymore. Like everyone again. I can't believe you did this girl. Oh, my god, oh my god. Yes, this is so awesome. Is this you? What'S your name, your name can't be paige anymore. It'S got ta be like you know what i'm saying y'all somebody call rhianna and tell us we're going on. We go out together. Tell her. What'S up girl, i'm here i'm available like thank you. Thank you for spending so much time with us. Oh my god, thank you for just like making such a lifelong dream come true. Like i i've. Never in a million years i would ever be able to do this and i love it. It looks so good. You are a magician like girl, i'm so happy you like it. This looks like oh looks like i bought this from the phone. I love it. There are no words i haven't stopped smiling. I literally want to go home and try on every outfit that i own just to see like what is this new look even like? What are we giving today like the final look on page is perfect. It'S everything that we expected. It looks so good on her, and i can tell that she just really feels like herself. It'S really important when going blonde to maintain trims and touch-ups every two to three months, so i definitely recommend coming into the salon for a root, touch-up and a trim and definitely a toner every two to three months. I also need to say thank you to my amazing assistant, cisco. He helped me foil and make sure that my color was always mixed and that everything stayed neat and clean. I could not have done it without him. You ever had somebody capture you. That is like. Oh, my god, that's like how i picture myself. I want to look like in my best state. That'S how i feel right now. It feels like a returning to like my old self, rather than like a change. If that's weird, you

5sonic: It's nice to see a lighter skinned woman able to work on curly and afro textured hair!! So many people treat curly hair like its a subset of hair styling when it's in fact just hair! It's weird to me that people specialize in hair, but that can't actually work with all hair textures. I can understand not being as good at braiding or coloring, but texture? C'mon everyone has texture! edit : by lighter skinned i mean fairer skinned, not light skinned black. that seems to be the only reply on this for some reason. i didn’t wanna assume her race / heritage so I said lighter skinned to imply a lighter skin tone. that’s all.
