Maintaining My Curly Loc Ends | Updated Wash Routine | Retwist With Me | 2022 Loc Journey

Foreign, hey y'all, welcome back to another video. I miss you guys so much I feel like I haven't like sat down and spoken to you guys in a minute um. I have not really been putting out videos as consistently as I should, but I have been dropping them. Travel Vlogs! Okay, if you haven't seen my travel Vlog, go check those out, but I say that to say: I haven't really had talk time with the camera and I miss y'all like how y'all been and by the way Happy Thanksgiving today is Thursday. November 24th is Thanksgiving. Y'All happy turkey day happy gobble gobble day. If you celebrate it, I just got home from work. I it's 507 p.m. Right now I clocked in to work this morning at 5 45. I woke up at 3 30.. I clocked into work at 5 45. I worked. The flight from Philly to Miami and then Miami to Atlanta, and then I worked the flight from Atlanta back to Philly. I had the most amazing crew at work today, like I mean I'm based in Philadelphia with my job, so I typically do work with some amazing people, but y'all I could not have spent Thanksgiving with like a better crew like we had so much fun today. We spilled tea, we left we joked around, like we had a really good. We had a really really good day, so I am thankful for my career. I'M thankful for friends that I've made at work that have become lifelong friends. I'M thankful for having a job that I absolutely love. When you go to a job that you love, it really doesn't feel like work, so I'm thankful for my career, I'm thankful for my family, I'm thankful for good health and I'm thankful for y'all see this face period. I'M thinking for my jeans for my mama anyway. Let'S get into the into the video has been very, very, very highly requested. Okay, this video is long overdue, as you guys can tell from the title of this video. This is going to be an updated curly, lock, maintenance, video, slash and updated wash routine slash retwist with me slash, let's get into the video because we don't want to. We don't want to make it too long. I don't know what this video is going to be out today on Thanksgiving Day um. I really have to see how I feel once I'm done doing my hair, because it's a process and once I'm done recording to see if I feel like editing tonight. I also have to be up at 3, 30 again tomorrow to go back to work. So if you guys are seeing this today, Happy Happy Happy Happy Thanksgiving if you're not seeing it on Thanksgiving Day, happy belated Thanksgiving. Another thing I don't know happy belated Thanksgiving before we get into the video I'm going to show you guys what my hair is looking like, like I said, I've been at work literally all day. I am six days shy of 11 months locks y'all. We gon na hit a year next month. We are hitting a year next month. Already, I'm so excited. If you can't, I don't know where this energy came from. I literally just worked like a 12-hour day. I don't know where this energy came from, but I always get that second win. When I get off the plane, I literally got home from work and I was like I looked in the mirror and I was like girl. You'Ve been putting off retwisting your hair for weeks. It'S time get your camera yeah like I said this is what my hair looks like. I have not gotten a retwist since October 7th, which means that it has been seven weeks tomorrow will make exactly seven weeks since I had a retwist. I personally do prefer to stretch my retwists out. I used to retwist like every four or five weeks, but I honestly like when my hair is like a little grown out like there is nothing like a fresh retwist, but I honestly prefer my hair to be like. I don't want to call it rough, but y'all know what I mean. I just want it to be a little. It needs to have a little bit of character, honey, okay. So before we get into my last routine um, let me tell you guys what I do for my curly ends. This is what it's looking like. So basically, what I do is every time I'm gon na wash my hair or every time I'm gon na retwist, my hair. I comb my hair out before I wash or retwist. As a matter of fact, I got ta wash to retwist. What am I talking about anyway? I need to wash my hair. I comb the ends out before I wash it right. So the last time I washed my hair was probably like it was Halloween weekend my mom washed, my hair for me, so I did go through and like comb it out before she watched it and stuff. But again, like I said, I haven't, had a retwist in seven weeks, so I hadn't comb, my hair out in a little minute and y'all could see like the new growth from my retwist as well. But this is what the ends are looking like and my ponytail is getting thick y'all. Okay, y'all see that hang time you see the drop the other day. I thought there was a bug on my neck. My hair was down and I was like. Oh, what was that, and it was literally a lock and I was like okay - we are getting there, okay, so I'm really excited so yeah. This is what my ponytail is looking like. Make sure you have to see it they're. So pretty you can still see. You know the curls at the end you can see what's going on before we hop in the shower to wash my hair, I'm gon na section, my hair off and we're gon na start combing. These ends out I'm just using this very simple black rat tail comb. I'M also going to use a spray bottle with water, just because I really don't like to comb dry hair, and this is when I was a loose natural too. I'M not detangling my hair if it's dry like at that point, you're literally just asking for it to be broken off. So let me go ahead and take this out to scrunchie. Oh, that feels so good. I want to know. Oh my gosh wow that feels so good. I want to know what you guys are thankful for um if you're watching this video it's Thanksgiving day. I want you to comment down below and let me let me know what you're thankful for you don't have to, but I am curious. I would love to hear the different things that people are thankful for this year, whether it be Health, whether it be financial, gain, whether it be you left, your broke baby, daddy whatever it is. I just want to know like what are y'all thankful for. Let'S go ahead and section this off, I like to section my hair into fours wow. Let me let me give it a good shake. So y'all can see it see. I can see what we working with today: y'all the hair, it's growing, okay, the locks they're locking. I literally love it um. I have a couple friends at work who know how indecisive I am I'm a Libra. If you didn't know, and some of my friends be like girl, you love your hair, so much, but I know you're gon na cut it again yeah. Whatever you're not gon na keep your locks, I know you're gon na cut it again and I'm just like girl bye like y'all, about to see. I'M really, not I'm really not playing around this time. Like I really love my locks and yes, I loved them. I loved my first set too, but I very clearly was not ready for the first set and that's why I ended up cutting it but y'all when I say I'm ready for this. I'M ready been ready. We about to hit a month next year, I'm so excited. I said next year ciao, it's been a long day and I know my hair is getting thick because I use these big um. I use like the big scrunchies right every time I try to put my hair in a scrunchie like it breaks, and I'm just like I'd be so annoyed because I keep buying these, but I'm also not a million, because I'm like yeah, my hair is thick sick. Like me, okay, I'm so excited to be here. Let me get a clip, so I can clip away so I'm just going to take a couple locks out and then twist the rest up. Pin that away, I'm gon na spray, the lock, I'm only focusing on the end of the lock right now, because we are going to get in the shower and wash my hair and like really saturate the whole thing and get really really up in there and scrub. These freaking scrub scrub this scalp, but for right now we're only focusing on the ends, because the ends is the only thing that we're combing out right now, I'm gon na go ahead and just spray the ends just a little bit, nothing crazy, just to dampen it And then I'm gon na take my comb and I'm just going through and literally just combing out the ends and because I'm gon na start doing this more frequently, it shouldn't be hard to comb out like the first time I combed them out on camera. I was struggling child, but that's because like they were locked and I was combing them out now - they're combed out so now it's just kind of like maintenance. So again every time I retwist my hair and every time I wash my hair, I comb it out. I usually retwist well now I'm retwisting every like six to eight weeks and then I'll just be washing at some point in between there. This one like yo, this one is like locked. I got a smaller comb and also when you're doing this, you really want to be as gentle as possible. I do always have a little bit of hair loss when I do this a little bit for real for real, nothing, crazy, but yeah. You do want to be gentle, so yeah. It didn't take long literally. I kept it in real time, so you guys could see that it's really not anything crazy. Now, I'm about to throw some music on this video and speed it up. I'M about to FaceTime my niece and nephew and talk to them. While I do this so y'all just continue to watch, hey Siri FaceTime, Tatiana you're, yeah yeah. I called and saw titties. I don't know different. You want to say hi, you want to say hi to YouTube. Hi YouTube, Happy Thanksgiving, oh awkward, she's, not like a robot, like somebody forced her to do that with a gun to her head, like I can't get together. These are so much easier to comb out, since I literally combed it out like a couple weeks ago and I'm actually about to stop doing one by one enjoy trying to do a couple at a time. It'S just so much easier foreign who say that you can't you catch it. He gon na eat me like a man. Y'All saw that I know y'all saw this comb just fling itself at me. My column said girl, shut up and use me all right. Look say less so all right! This is how much hair I lost from combing out the first half I finished the first half. It literally only took me about 15 minutes, y'all like if that, so this is how much hair came out. Let me focus it. This is how much hair came out of combing out this half of my hair, which is really not bad at all. If you think about it, our hair sheds every single day, so I'm not mad about that. Now, let's get into the second half now, I'm sure y'all get the picture. Y'All don't need to watch me. Do the second half again, so I'm about to bump my music in his words kissing me softly all right y'all. So I am officially done combing out these ends. What time is it it's 601? It really didn't. Take me that long like I know I I we started this video at 507.. I know that we started this video at 507, so it's been under an hour and I did ramble a little bit in the beginning of the video. So I want to say it took me 40 minutes to call them out. I love the pigtails. The pigtails are so cute, I'm gon na take it down in a second, so you can see what it looks like while it's down, but this is what my curly ends look like right now they are so cute um, don't mind my lash lifting y'all. This last been trying to violate me all day, so y'all can see me of course, it's poofy at the ends because we just combed it out, but it's about to curl right back up when we get in the shower so yeah without further Ado, oh gosh, my Hair is so dirty without further Ado. Let'S go wash this hair y'all. I had to come back real, quick before we hopped in the shower just to show y'all the length like y'all just get along. You can see like how dirty my hair is. Usually, it's always going to be like around my edges that get the dirtiest, because I do use edge control. I try my best not to get the edge control in my actual lock to um avoid buildup but uh the two on the sides here like you. Can I don't know if y'all can see that but yeah there's build up in there. So we're about to go. Give it a good Scrub, but I just wanted to show you the length real quick, because, let's check, I just think it's so cute. I like this little side, style too. I actually think I'm going to retwist it like in that style, like all the way to one side, I, like this side, better yeah. I think I'm gon na retwist it in this style. All right, let's go take a shower. My first shampoo is going to be with this homemade shampoo that my friend made for me. I'M gon na give it a good Shake. I love how like foamy it gets and it definitely Suds up a lot and then my second shampoo, I'm definitely going to use my Dr Bronner's peppermint cash still soap. If you guys followed my first lock Journey, you know I absolutely love washing my Locs with Dr browners, I diluted a little bit with water and it just leaves my scalp feeling really tingly and cool my birthday domination in the day, foreign foreign. Thank you, foreign foreign. Hey y'all, I am back my hair feels clean. It feels so good. I have this t-shirt wrapped around my Locs right now. I don't like to dry my hair completely, but I do like to just get some of that excess water off and I'm using a t-shirt. I stopped using towels to dry my hair because I noticed that I was getting some lint in some of my locks so now, like I will not dry my hair with a towel. I will not go to sleep without my bonnet. I have tried sleeping on a silk pillowcase, but somehow I still wake up with it, so I'm like Bonnet scarf or nothing. So let's go ahead and take this off. Oh my gosh, it's the hang time for me, it is the hang time for me. Look at these beautiful curls y'all, like I am just so pretty so pretty shout out to my mom for real because she did her thing, but anyway, this one right here. This one is my favorite, I'm not gon na, say my favorite lock, but it's my favorite curly end, because it's just so much curl like it's literally this much Loose Hair. It'S just so well, yeah um! What time is it it's? 6? 56. I have to be up at three o'clock in the morning. I think I mentioned that already I like to be bit in bed by nine o'clock, when I have to wake up at three so yeah. Let'S, let's get this hair started. I am retwisting my hair today with a Jamaican mango and lime braid twist and lock gel. This is what I've used for my last couple, retwists, or at least three twist that I do myself like when I go to the shop. I let my stylist use whatever she uses, but this is what I use when I retwist my hair myself. I also use this with my first set of blocks and I do like it. It smells really good. Oh my gosh, it smells really good. It'S very light, and it does not. It does not create buildup in my Locs, which I really really love, so I'm gon na use this. I prefer to just use aloe vera uh aloe vera gel, but I ran out so we're gon na use this today. But before we get into that my hair, so far I haven't put anything in my hair. After getting out the shower, I'm about to put some vitamin E oil, I got this big bottle from the hair store. I think it was 7.99 for the big bottle, but I've had it for months and I haven't used much of it and I do oil my hair a couple times I was about to lie. I was really about to lie right now. I had to catch myself. I was about to say I oil, my hair a couple times a week. No, I opened my hair a couple times a month. I probably do it like once a week. I definitely do it about once or twice a week and then, when I use this, I really am focusing like on my roots and not so much on the shaft of the lock. I also like to rub it so that it's on my so it's oily all over my hands and fingertips, because my fingertips is what I really use to get in there. Oh wow, that wash was much needed. I push my hair back and I put a little bit extra on my edges because we got to protect those edges girl so now that my hair is oiled, we're gon na do something new today. This is something that I have not done for this lottery. I haven't done this at all, but I went to Target the other day and I just keep going in there for one thing but yeah. I know how that goes. I went to the Travel section. Excuse me - and I was just looking at all of the like little products they had and I found this small bottle of Camille Rose rice, milk and Macadamia Oil, moisture milk. So I am going to use this and I'm afraid of build up y'all. I am afraid of build up, so I'm not going to use this on my whole lock, but I'm going to use this on the ends of my hair. This is what I would have used. I'Ve never used this product before either, but you know if I was a loose natural, I would literally wash my hair. I would put oil in it and then I would seal that oil in with the conditioner. So I'm about to do that with the ends of my hair, so we are literally experimenting right now and we're doing this together, foreign. I was expecting something a little fruitier. I'M gon na go ahead and rub that in and then I'm really just gon na rub it in and focus on the ends of my hair. Oh okay, now that I can really smell it, it really does smell good. It really does and I'm not using too much. That was enough for that section. I honestly think I might do this like probably twice a month. I don't know, listen, y'all could leave comments down below, don't come at me all crazy. If I'm doing something wrong because you're wrong might not be my wrong and I'm literally learning as I go as well, so be nice or I will block your ass for real, alright, so now we're gon na get into the retwist, like. I really like, I said, want to have this done by 8. 30.. I don't know if that's realistic, but we'll see so I have my clips. Have my pack of clips. I have my uh locking gel and I have my comb. I'M gon na start at the back because it's just easier to work from the back up and yeah. I'M gon na put some music on, so I can Vibe out and I'm gon na speed this video up foreign. This is really hard for me to do with my back face in the mirror, so I'm going to continue to retwist and I'm gon na. Let you guys watch me once I get closer to the front of my hair. Okay, so I'll be right back! I promise you y'all my arms hurt. My back hurts. I thought I would be done by 8 30.. Let'S all laugh together. Let me show y'all what I got done so far. I think I'm um, I don't want to say, like almost almost done, but I am kind of almost done. I still have this front section, but this is what we looking like so far. It probably looks like a mess back there honestly, because I just been clipping stuff everywhere um, but yeah we're coming along we're coming along, so I'm gon na show you guys how I do this front section. I'M not sure if I'm gon na show the whole front section, I probably will and just speed it up, but we're gon na see. I decided that I'm gon na retwist, my hair, so that all of this is going this way. Oh my battery's dying one. Second, we are back it's literally about to be nine o'clock. This is my bedtime, I'm kind of regretting starting this, but let me just hurry up and do this, so we could finish because even after when I'm done with oh, my hair smells so good, because once I'm done with this, I still have to sit under the Dryer but luckily I can sit on the dryer while I'm in the bed, but ciao listen. Y'All saw me comb my ends out before I wash my hair, my camera's tilted. At this point. I really don't care y'all, I'm just trying to finish this video. Unfortunately, my hair, dried and y'all know what happens when you don't detangle hair, while it's wet still so yeah. I have to um it's still detangled, but I do just like pass the comb through just a few times once I do that, I take Eco Styler gel and this is in the one. This is in the Argan Oil um tin, but I'm using the Jamaican black, castor oil. I actually put it in there, but I take a little bit of that, like literally the tiniest amount and I go ahead and I just coil the ends literally just wrap it around like that once I do that, then I go back and - and I take a Little drop of the Jamaican mango and lime twisting gel, and this is what I use on the root, so I put a little bit there. Oh get this lock out the way. Okay, I put a little bit there and then I start twisting. I probably twist twice before I start Palm rolling and I typically just Palm roll it once just to keep the frizz at a minimum. So I'm gon na. Let y'all see that again, let's go ahead and do this one foreign I swear these retwists would not take so long if I wasn't uh making sure to keep my curly ends, but it's all good because I love the desired look like. I really do love what it comes out to be, and then I tuck that into a clip moving on home. No, no, no, no! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No baby! You don't know what you do to me between me and you. I feel like chemistry, I won't let no one come and take your place. Don'T you understand all day long, let's keep going we're almost done. I could finally say that we are almost done my heart. Oh Alexa pause. We barely made it, but we made it. My hair is finally done. The time is 9. 22.. From start to finish, this was a four hour process, because y'all know we started at 507.. It is 9 22.. I it makes sense why I wait so long in between retwists, because yeah - I'm not doing this next month, like I'm honestly, not I'm about to do a quick little 360 for y'all we're really like a 180 and then a 180 back. Look at the curls! Oh, my gosh, the curls are so cute. I literally love it. This is what the back looks like. I don't know if you guys can really see it good, but I'm trying y'all okay. So if you've seen any of my old, lock videos, you already know how. I dry my hair, if you have not seen any of my old lock videos. What are you waiting for? Go watch. Those go. Binge watch my videos. You got time it's Thanksgiving, so this is how I dry my hair. I have a blow dryer and I have this Hood. This Hood is from Golden hot, but I bought it at my local beauty. Supply store how it works is the hood goes on your head like so this looks crazy. Oh okay, the hook goes on your head. Like so, the hose gets attached to the mouth of the blow dryer like so my blow. Dryer has two settings: it's either cool or actually it has three settings. It'S cool, low and high hot. I always blow dry, my hair on low. I don't like to put heat on my hair for real for real, like that, just I guess because of heat damage, I don't know, that's just something I took from being a loose natural. I just don't like to put heat on my hair blow. Dryer is attached. You turn it on CE, you turn it on. The hood will puff up and then you just kind of sit under the hood and just let it dry foreign, my hair, I'm obviously not gon na stay here and blow dry it for you guys. So this is the almost the end of the video. This is the end of showing you my um maintenance routine. However, I'm gon na come back in the morning to show you guys tomorrow, like I told y'all, I work super early in the morning at like five, something I'm gon na get back on here in the morning. So you guys can see the final results, because I'm literally about to lay in the bed and turn this blow dry on, I'm not gon na fall asleep. Yet I'm just gon na um text, my little my little yeah yeah, I'm gon na sit in the bed text, my little yeah yeah whatever, and I'm gon na call you back in the morning and y'all better answer good morning. Babes it is the next morning. It'S 4 37 in the morning and I'm getting ready to leave for work. I sat under the dryer last night for about 45 minutes. While I took care of some paperwork that I had to do for work, but I sat under the dryer for about 45 minutes and my hair was completely dry when I went to sleep. This is what my retwist is looking like. It looks so good. I'M loving the curly and I'm also really loving the side part. It looks so full and pretty looks so good.
