Trying Wand Curls On My Natural Hair For The First Time, I - | Thick Type 4 Hair *Not A Tutorial*

Don'T look at the back of my hair: hey y'all! Welcome back to another video! So, as y'all can tell by the title today, your girl is going to be trying Juan curls on her natural hair for the first time ever. So it's a little cold in Miami. It'S like in the 50s right now um or like 40s. It'S been like the high 40s and I'm also going to Connecticut tomorrow, which is actually in the 30s and I'm dying to get a silk press. I just haven't had gotten around to finding a stylist to do one for me, um and because the weather here in Miami has been so issue why she really never know um. This temperature drop is like super unexpected anyways, I'm rambling point is, I thought now would be the perfect time to go ahead and he's not my natural hair. So I'm a little nervous because one I mean I'm gon na be trying a hairstyle for the I'm gon na be trying new hairstyle for the first time uh. We all know how that goes, but also because I've never I've. Actually. Never he styled my natural hair like on my own, so I'm a little nervous um. Hopefully I don't have any like heat damage or anything like that. I think I should be fine um but yeah, like I told you guys so the temperature dropped. I was like. Okay, cool temperature dropped. I feel, like you know, whatever hairstyle I decided to do it should, you know, hold up pretty well because of the cold and blah blah blah. So I blow dried my hair earlier today. Oh, I'm thinking that, like oh yeah, like my bow dryer, is probably gon na hold up really well, oh, I mean that's not bad. Actually, it's not as bad as I thought it was really just the ends that were really poofy, but my roots are still pretty flat. Oh honestly, I'm definitely going for. Like a voluminous, I mean what am I not going for voluminous look but yeah, I'm definitely going for like a kind of chunky, voluminous wand curve situation, nothing like too perfect. I do want definition, but I just want. I don't want it to be tight curls. I don't want like type one curls, that's what I'm trying to say. Okay, really quick before I get started, let me go ahead and touch up my hair, really quick with this blow dryer just to get my hair. You know just to give these parts a little more all right, y'all, I'm back! You guys are always mentioning how long my hair has gotten and I never usually see it, but I'm not gon na lie. The inches are inching okay, anyways. Let'S go ahead and get started okay, so I purchased this Remington iron from Target earlier today, I'm not realizing! I already had one curl at home um. Well, let's I'm gon na go with the new one, because this is gon na, be like over 10 years old and I'd much rather use the one. That'S brand new, just in case, because you're not really not trying to mess with heat but um. But while I have this one, it's not on I'm just gon na like practice the Motions really quick before I get started. So I'm not like you know, trial and error with the heat. I can't afford to do that. So I'm gon na do like a quick test run and then I will begin actually styling my hair definitely wearing a glove because I'm not even gon na play like that. Oh, I almost forgot so I'm using this Paul Mitchell, hot off the press, thermal protection spray that has been sitting in a drawer for like Angel Eyes, a couple years old. I don't see a shelf life sign on here, so I ain't taking no chances y'all um. So I have the the one curl at 360 degrees, so it's recommended that it protects your hair anywhere between 360 to 410, so um. Why is it so uncomfortable for me? Oh my gosh sitting for a couple seconds tonight. Oh that's cute! That'S pretty cute! What y'all think that is pretty cute, but I don't think that's gon na hold. Oh, I also have a holding spray from Paul Mitchell, also not spontane by the way, but I have I have these products from like back when I was going to the salon. Every two weeks um, so the girls are dropping a little more than I think I would like. I don't know, and I'm concerned that, like in an hour in an hour, they're just gon na be like nothing. I'M gon na turn up to hit the 380 and maybe leave it on the curl, leave it on the curl, leave it on the wand a little longer um. I don't know what's going on with this piece right here, but I've tried curling it like five times and it's just not. It keeps falling off of the wand, six, five, four, oh wow! This is not it's not curling! Huh yeah! I don't know what to do. It'S like the curls are giving. The volume is crazy. It'S giving photo shoot ready, it's giving easy breezy beautiful Cover Girl. Obviously I haven't done this section right here but like yeah, so I have been taking smaller sections. I realized once I started doing this side. I guess because I've noticed like how I mean this is not ugly, don't get me wrong. This is still cute, but it's like dang. This side is so much more defined, so I'm assuming that this side will kind of sort of start to look like this. As time goes on by time, I mean like 20 minutes, but I don't know all right y'all. So what do we think um? I feel like? I definitely have a mixed feelings, so the actual curls, I think, they're beautiful they really are beautiful. My hair looks so voluminous. It looks like a lion's mane, so the only thing for me: that's like I'm a little iffy about or that stole me off and I'm hoping with time I'll either get used to it or it'll kind of just fall into place. So the shape of my hair, like it almost looks fake, like it looks like like I feel like it, looks like I got those um which I'm gon na call it natural straight clip-ins and did flexi rods on them or the wand curls. Like this part, you see how it's like swoop and then, like you know what I mean, I think I would have preferred, if maybe I would have gotten like tighter use, the use the wand a little tighter to my root. You see this like straight and then curly or like wave and then curly and then also there's not really much volume up here. My hair looks voluminous. Don'T get me wrong the volume's out here, but my hair just looks flat up here and I think that's another reason why it looks a little fake yeah do y'all see what if I come out or do you just love it or am I just being picky And a perfectionist y'all, let me know in the comments this section back here: the curls just like completely dropped basically, and I'm really not trying to like, I said, risk getting heat damage overall y'all. I think it's a beautiful hairstyle. Would I revisit it. I think I would God willing, I don't have any heat damage and all that, maybe if I turned up the heat a little higher and maybe kept the hair wrapped around the wand even longer, maybe I would have gotten longer lasting results. But honestly, I'm not that surprised. This is usually what happened. I try any hairstyle on stretched hair. I don't even know how I'm gon na sleep with this, because I feel like if I sneeze too hard.
