FOLLOW ME ON INSTAGRAM http://www.instagram.com/alexgaboury

This easy summer hairstyle of 2020 was inspired by the heat wave we’ve been under! I wanted to create a cute summer hair tutorial that was not only quick + simple, but would look beautiful while getting your hair up off your neck and most importantly keeping you nice and cool. I call this my heatwave updo, but it’s just a simple pony-tail with a french knotted braid, which is perfect for medium - long hair lengths. I also shared one of my favourite hair products to fight humidity, this product is magical, just wait till you see the results.

I hope you're all enjoying your summer so far, and that this hair tutorial can help you stay cool.

Don’t forget to tag me in your recreations on Instagram, I would love to see!

Hello, everyone welcome back, so there has been a heat wave warning here in Toronto for what feels like weeks and I'm not complaining, but it inspired me to create a hairstyle. That was not only a quick and easy. It would look really beautiful while getting your hair up off your neck and keeping you nice and cool. I really love how it turned out. I hope that you enjoy and let's get started to prep my hair. I first used the Eva NYC leave-in conditioner, to detangle my hair, and I use this really cool product, its color wows dream coat, and this is an anti-frizz serum. So it creates that sleek glass hair that you've probably seen on Instagram it's kind of magical. Now this should be the last product that you apply and you spray this liberally all over your damp, not wet hair, and you want to make sure you get each strand now. You do need to use a lot, but it does last about 2 to 3 shampoos, and then this is activated with heat. So I'm going to blow-dry my hair and I'm using the Dyson air wrap with the smoothing brush attachment just makes blowing out your hair. So much easier, actually just uploaded a tutorial all about this. If you haven't seen it yet I'll link it down below alright. So this is how it leaves my hair look at this so shiny. It looks just like glass now, although these results are beautiful, and I wish my hair could look like this all the time. I would just save this product for special occasions, like weddings and proms, or if you're planning on going on a vacation somewhere super humid and like most anti frizz products, just remember to use a clarifying shampoo afterwards, just to remove any leftover product all right. Now that the base is done, let's create our updo, you will need a hair, elastic bobby pins and a hair clip alright so begin by securing your hair into a high ponytail, and I like just scoop my hair up from behind my ears, to create a soft Swoop and then I incorporate the rest of my hair and you want to create a mid to high ponytail and I put some small pieces in front of my ears and to secure it. I like to attach two bobby pins to a hair elastic to make a hair bungee you just sir one bobby pin at the top of your ponytail and they're op, the other one super tightly clockwise around your ponytail. Now this can be a little bit tricky, but a regular elastic will work too. It'S just it can create bumps. Sometimes next take the top third ish part of your ponytail and just completely section it off from the rest of your hair. Then divide this into two equal pieces making sure they are completely sectioned off from one another. Next tie these together, and this is the same step as the first step of tying a shoe so bring the right piece over the left and then loop. The left piece up and pull it through the hole, nice and tight. Now it should look similar to this all right try to keep a hold of your ends in your hands. I just want to gather two more sections so about another third of your ponytail and then just join them into your ends and make sure they are completely sectioned off from the rest of your hair. Now, if your arms are tired, I promise we are almost done so once joined, tie another knot. The same way bring your right piece over your left piece and loop. Your left piece up and pull it through the hole, nice and tight, and you want this to sit just below the previous one. Now still holding your ends divide the remaining hair into two last sections and just join them into your ends. Now create one more knot, pulling it nice and tight and once you're done secure and it's together with the hair clip and give your arms a rest. Next, lower your clip just a little bit to give the braid some slack and then strain at the bottom of your braid. If it twisted like mine, did and then hold your braid, how you want it to sit and then press it firmly against your head with your other hand and hold it there, don't let go now. You just begin Bobby pinning the outside of your knots. Now, right now, we're just Bobby pinning enough to hold it into place and we'll secure it more at the end, so start at the top and hook a small piece of hair with your bobby pin and then push it against your head and salida towards the center And then just repeat on the outside of all of the knots and I will link my favorite bobby pins below okay for your ends. So if your hair is long create one more knot at the bottom, so I did a total of four and then secure. All of your ends with the small hair elastic and create a bun on the end. This will make tucking your ends underneath so much easier. Now, once you have your bun tuck it underneath your braid and there should be a little pocket in there that you can kind of push them into. They just take a couple bobby pins and pin them into place and then secure the rest of the knots and if you need to play around with their shape so very habits. I really hope that you enjoyed this hair tutorial and if you end up recruiting this hairstyle, please tag me on Instagram. I would love to see it I'll link all my information down below, but if you liked today's video, please give it a thumbs up. I hope you're all enjoying your summer and I'll talk to you next time. Danielle DiStefano: I love how simple this was to recreate. And most of the time any hairstyle I do with barbie pins never lasts long. This one, I am so proud to say, last all day! Never did I have to reset a barbie pin. My hair stayed gathered really well and I felt pretty while staying cool all day. Thank you for this lovely and efficient style! I will definitely be wearing my hair this way more often! ☺️

Trish Pipkins: This is so easy but looks so intricate. I love it! And it's absolutely perfect in Florida. I about died getting my mail yesterday. It's so hot and so humid here right now. haha

loree Stockdale: I've been doing something similar to this for years without pins, just when I'm sitting around trying to keep cool. So obviously it falls out, I've seriously never thought to secure it and wear it. Excellent

Debi Cesen: Your hair is beautiful! Unfortunately my hair is very thin and going through a shedding phase that never seems to end once it starts. MissE Mc: This might be a silly question but how do you get a secure ponytail with the bungee style tie? My hair is very long (I can sit on it) and thick so it never seems secure enough when I use a bungee tie. Can someone give me an idea of how many times to wrap the elastic (I usually try to make it as tight as possible) or maybe some tips on how to angle the bobbi-pins to help me make if feel more secure?? I have looked for videos on this but I haven’t found one where you can actually see it done. I always seem to give up and just put a regular hair elastic in. I would greatly appreciate any thoughts, tips, tricks or video suggestions!!!Thank You!!!!!! ❤️
