Okay, i want to introduce you to gina. Now there are some things that are happening. I guess you could call them mistakes that are going on with gina's hair currently - and i am going to in this video - explain exactly what those mistakes are and much. More importantly, how she can get a more youthful look now before you run away thinking this guy is such a jerk to put this poor lady on blast like this, i'm gon na explain exactly what's going on so bear with me here and, if you're a veteran To the series you know exactly how this goes so, while i throw these photos back up on the screen, so you can take a quick look at them. I want you to go ahead and throw in the comment section what you think is happening. While i explain to the new folks exactly what's going on with this thing, so i don't sound so rude sound good. This is a series where subscribers actually send in their photos, to me asking the question: what mistakes am i making with my current style and what would you do to address those concerns or mistakes so that i can get a more youthful look? That is exactly what i do, and this actually happens to be a very special episode in this series, because i get to actually tell you how i failed you in this series. Yes, that that that sounds fun right. That sounds like a lot of fun sounds like a lot of fun. She'Ll love this anytime. I get to print out my mistakes, but with all that said, with all of that said, gina actually sent in her photos a little while ago, a few months ago, in the hopes that she would be selected for one of these episodes and unfortunately, as this series Goes many times these photos are selected randomly and it takes a while before the person actually gets selected for an episode. So in gina's case it had been a few months and she actually had already taken the advice that she had gotten from me from watching. My videos and what she had learned and she took that to a stylist hoping to get a more youthful look and unfortunately it didn't quite go as she had planned and so therefore, well, i'm gon na walk you through what mistakes are going on with her new Current style and i'm going to break down exactly what's happening and how you can actually address those mistakes. So hopefully we can kind of cut this whole thing off at the corners and that that was stupid. That didn't really make sense. Okay, cut it off at the head: oh that's! Even worse! That definitely doesn't work. Okay, we're going to basically make sure that you don't make those mistakes fair enough, fair enough good thumbs up; okay mistakes; okay! Now, as always before, we dive into the mistakes, i actually want to read you the email that gina sent me with her submission, so that you can get a better idea as to what guided my suggestions for this particular video. Now, in gina's specific scenario, she actually gave me kind of two emails, so i'm going to read them both to you, one from before she had had anything done as well as the email after she had her hair cut. So you can get an idea of both of them. First email reads good afternoon: i just love your youtube channel. Thank you very much. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and your life with the viewers during covid. I let my hair go gray, but ultimately decided about three months ago to go back to coloring. My gray wasn't an ideal gray. For me, i felt with my skin tone it washed me out. Mine is more of a salt and pepper gray. I love seeing women with gray hair and i feel that can be very freeing and empowering. I just adore nicole johnson and i agree i'm a big fan of nicole johnson as well. She is the epitome of grace and class and is the one who inspired me to let it go. Oh, no, oh natural, nacho, natural, oh natural, oh natural! Okay, that's what it says. The back of my head is only about 30 gray, and the sides in front are about 50 gray. A stylist had issues trying to blend the two, no matter what she tried or a product i used. My gray hair would eventually turn a shade of yellow. I think it's great that women are embracing their gray. However, no one talks about the fact that you most likely have to change your makeup to complement the new color. It was hard i felt like i never quite got it. It is good that you picked up on that whole makeup, changing with your grey thing, because that's absolutely a factor. I actually talked specifically about that, but by the time you wrote this. I hadn't done that yet so, if you want to go check that video out, you can actually check that out right here, i'll link it in the description below now that was her first email. Let'S read her second email and talk about where she landed after she had her hair cut. I watched all your videos and thought i was choosing a flattering style. My hair is shorter, but i absolutely hate it. I thought a bob would be good. I'Ve always considered my hair as a key accessory to my style. I'Ve been all lengths and many different colors as i age. My goal is to be classy timeless and stylish. Nicole johnson is an icon. She has inspired many hairstyles i have had in the past. Let me kind of break down one very important thing that was actually mentioned in this email, and that is referring to nicole johnson babe. Do you know who nicole johnson is? This is nicole johnson, oh yeah, beautiful, right, beautiful yeah? If there's anything that you can learn from nicole johnson, it's that gray hair does not make you inherently look older. No, not at all, there's something very important to understand about why it looks so amazing on her nicole has a very deep understanding of how to work with her hair so that, instead of her hair wearing her, she is wearing her hair. This is extremely important. She balances it very well as a whole with the way she dresses with her makeup with her overall just appearance and look in general. So there's a lot that's going into why it looks so great and i think a lot of people will just move into gray. Hair and not take into consideration that it can be amazing, but many times it needs a little bit of a shift in the rest of your wardrobe and makeup and all the other things to really kind of dial. The whole look in and get that kind of. Polished elegance that you might be looking for. Okay mistake: number one is just the lack of layering in the front of gina's hair. The length of the front is really weighing her hair down and creating more bulk through the sides which is bringing the eye down the shape layering out. Some of that bulk is important for the shape in general, but even more important if you're wearing your hair wavy. Since the wave will inherently add more bolt to the sides, just because of its shape, which also kind of leads us into mistake, number two, which is that there's just not enough layering, internally or kind of in the rest of the shape. This is the perfect example of how simply bringing the length up and having a solid bob line isn't always enough to really bring the shape together. If you look at this profile, shot you'll see that the length and the angle of the bob line are good. It'S not too long for gina and, more importantly, it follows the lines of her face and cheekbones and her jawline, which i talk about all the time. This is doing a good job of starting to kind of lift your eye up to shape, but the amount of fullness right here in the nape is really working against that and drawing your eye right back down the shape. Adding some layers and beveling would correct. This concern, as well as help offset the triangular shape that we see from this forward facing shot now mistake. Number three is that the part is just a little bit too close to the center. Now the tough part about parting, your hair, near the or in the middle, is that it compounds the volume on the sides by removing the ability to create volume on the top, because it divots right in the center. You can't create volume right here. I spoke. My video last week, which i will link below as well about how volume and hair is an optical illusion if you want to create the illusion of more volume. On top simply reducing the volume of the sides will help that a lot now. This is kind of that same principle at play. The extra volume on the sides is enhancing the illusion of the top laying flat making it look even more flat in turn. Making the sides appear. Even fuller mistake. Number four is about her current hair color. Now i know that she said ideally she would be able to move back to gray at some point, but currently she's coloring her hair. And if you look at the current tone, i feel like it's a little bit too on the warm side. I think that if we cooled this tone down just a little bit, it would go better with her skin tone and really kind of richen things up a bit. So now that we kind of know the mistakes, let's dive into the suggestions and see exactly what these mistakes would look like if we made the modifications that i suggested. So, let's do that now, oh and if you're new to the channel, you might be wondering who is this random dude? Why is he out in the woods talking to me about hair uh? Well, my name is justin hickox and i've been doing hair since 1995.. So i like to take you on hikes like this ridiculous, one that we went on today, which is why i feel very underdressed guys. I apologize, i'm wearing a tank top, but it is 100 degrees and we walked straight uphill. We didn't realize it was gon na be this long. It was - and this is my wife - you would see her on our other youtube channel as well. Our travel channel, if you're more interested about that there'll, be a link in the description. So you can check that out, uh but yeah. So that's who i am and let's talk some more about mistakes and real quickly, um nicole, if you are watching this you're gon na, want to stick around to the end, because you may or may not be very flattered uh by what i show you or you May think, i'm a complete idiot either way you're, probably right now. The first mistake was that the layers in the front were just non-existent. Wasn'T enough layering, it was really kind of weighing the shape down and bringing the eye down and adding the illusion of too much fullness on the sides. So if we actually layer the front just a little bit more, this is what that would look like now. As you can see, this does a good job of opening her face up a bit and lightening up those sides, so they aren't too dragging, but this definitely doesn't get us where we want to be. We still need to do some work on the shape, a bit which takes us kind of to the next mistake, which was that there just wasn't enough layering on the side, you're just creating too much bulk. Now this is really kind of compounding that fullness that the front lack of layering was adding and again bringing that eye down the shape. So if we did layer this shape internally a little bit more and bevel that back in a little bit more, this is what that would look like now. This definitely starts to switch up where the volume sits and draw your eye back up the shape. This is actually, i think what gina was going for by having the angle done more dramatically, which you can see from her first submission photo to her second submission pick, unfortunately, like i said before, it's rarely bringing the length up and creating more of an angle that Does the full job, usually the shape, is going to require some layering to really bring that all together, especially if you're going to style your hair wavy? Since again, that wave is going to add fullness to begin with, and the third mistake was that the parting was just a little bit too close to the center, and this again was really taking the volume potential out of the top and inherently creating the illusion that There'S more volume on the sides, which is compounding that whole fullness on the sides bringing that eye down. Concerning that we've been talking about mistakes number one and two, so if we switch that part up just a little bit, this is what that would look like now. This one is a little bit tough to really show so. You'Re gon na have to use your imagination a little bit with this and kind of recognize that this is an idea of what it would look like. But if you notice gina has a pretty strong growth pattern in the front and she's likely been parting, her hair here for a long time. So when she does switch it up, two things will likely happen. One her hair might fight her a bit and want to go back parting, where she usually does ultimately falling in her face until it drives her nuts and then two she'll likely get a bit more volume right in here, which would actually be a good thing as It would add to a bit more lift on top and offset that volume. Now, with all that said, you can still see how far it goes to balancing her shape and looking a little bit less dragging on her. So long of the story is if she can get her hair to stay, this direction, she'll likely get a little bit more of that volume and it will be to her benefit, we're hot. It'S like 100 degrees on this hike. I'M not gon na lie. It'S all in the sun, and it was way more uphill than we anticipated. We did it all for you. I did it all for you yeah. This is true. Okay, mistake number four, which was all about her color and the fact that her color looked a little bit too warm and if she would just cool that tone down a little bit, it would, i think, be a little bit more flattering on her skin tone. So if she did cool that tone down, this is what that would look like now. This isn't a massive change and i always say that many times it's not one big massive change that does the benefit. Sometimes it's just a lot of small things that add up to create that benefit, but i do think it gives her a bit more richness in her skin tone and overall, just flat out think it looks great on her. So all that said, let's jump into the curveball before we dive into that. I do want to mention that one of the things that gina talked about in her email also was that she never felt like she kind of got the right color when she went gray. Never really kind of suited her, no matter what she did, but one of the big things is it kind of turning that yellow and that's something that happens to, i think, probably almost everybody on some level that goes gray or that dyes, their hair, like a platinum Blonde - and there are a ton of reasons that that happens - i've actually created an entire video. Where i talk about why your hair goes, yellow and, more importantly, different ways that you can actually counteract that yellow and cut that yellow out so i'll go ahead and link that video right here, as well as i'll, have in the description where you can check that Out, if you want to check it out, and i've actually even thought about doing an entire video about one really solid way that you can cut that yellow out of your hair, where i kind of talk about using toners and how to effectively use toners and what Toners to use and all that good stuff. So if you're curious about that kind of video go ahead, and let me know in the comments below tell me that you want to see it and maybe i'll make that okay now, like i said nicole, bear with me here. One of the things that i recognize in gina's emails, both of them, is that she strongly looks up to nicole as a creator and as just a person in general, and i really think she looks up to her style and with everything that she's talking about in Email, i kind of drew to the conclusion that she really is kind of pulled toward this look that has kind of an air of elegance to it. If you will - and so what i wanted to do was say well, why don't we just show you what a style that would be similar to a style that nicole might wear and see what that would look like on gina's hair. So here is what i came up with: okay, okay elephant in the room. When i said something like nicole might wear, maybe i meant that it would be literally nicole's hairstyle on gina, because that's exactly what it is. I literally photoshopped nicole's hairstyle onto gina, yes, but but but i do have a good reason for this. It'S because, in all honesty, it's not far off of where gina actually is, if she moved into just kind of a layered bob like we've, been talking about during this video. If she did that and then styled it straight instead of wavy, she would land very close to where this photo is, so it actually made a lot of sense. The only obvious difference is that well, her hair is brown and nicole's. Hair is gray, and i also remember very vividly that she'd had problems going gray in the past, but i don't think that those problems should stop eugena from going gray, because i think that they can be addressed a certain way now. Here'S the really interesting part of this particular curveball and before you hang me out at the stake on this one. Just let me finish when i look at the two different photos. I would probably lean towards the brown hair as looking a little bit more youthful, but there's a huge butt like i said. Let me finish: it isn't because it's brown hair - it's because, like i mentioned with nicole before, if we actually switched up gina's makeup made a little bit of modifications to that where they kind of played around with their outfit a little bit in this particular photo. I think it would be a very different end result, and that is my kind of key point with all of this is that it's not the hair that is going to inherently make gina look less youthful, it's a beautiful color on her and it's a beautiful shape On her from this photo, we would need to kind of bring that style together and that's it now. There is one other kind of large thing that we want to pay attention to and that's that gina likely won't get quite as much volume as nicole gets in her hair due to the difference in hair texture - and i do know that nicole has some great videos On her channel about how to create volume, the way that she does where she uses rollers and shows you different techniques with them and that could work for gina. However, realistically speaking gina's particular face shape and the way that she wears her hair, we actually wouldn't want. Quite as much volume, she wouldn't really benefit from as much volume as nicole benefits from and so having a little bit. Less would actually work really well for her, but actually, i would still say gina go check out nicole's if you haven't already some of those videos, because it would give you a good foundation for volume. So there are some good things that you can learn either way. So with all that said, you know where i usually stand. I really don't care about my opinion, because i have my opinion. I'Ve already told you my opinion. What is your opinion? Let me know: what do you think? Do you think that she uh is on the right track? Do you think she should go back to gray or do you think i'm totally insane again, i like what do you think babe? Do you look at here? Look, look, look. You got to see the difference. Don'T fall, which one do you think i like the i like the brown okay folks, so that's all right. My idea is that cheeky go either way. I do think i would probably think i actually think that going gray would be a good idea. I just think we need to make this light modifications and it would work really well for it agreed. Okay, she agrees with me. It'S just easier. Sometimes with you do what i wanted. Okay, we got. Ta go bye, everybody we'll see you later. Oh man geez. I don't oh gosh, that's up right up we're out of recording

Nancy Dann: I think the key is to look OUR best... We admire influencers and celebrities who are highly styled and choose their very best photos. We seek an impossible standard... I think that's why we love Justin's videos. They provide helpful hints for every day women. For me, Gina looks dramatically better with the part moved to the side with the resulting lift and brown hair. There's always time to go gray, but in Gina's case, it's a slam dunk to keep her hair brown. She looks so much younger to me, so I'm on Team Dionna (once again. )WARNING: This is an opinion from a 66-year old with restored red hair! My sisters went gray, but this redhead is staying red to the grave!

Peggy Travels: When I went gray 10 years ago, I had to completely adjust my makeup colors to keep me from being washed out. I love it when ladies can go naturally gray and pull it off like Nikol Johnson. I would love for you to do a full video on keeping the yellow out of gray hair. I has been a struggle for me. I have switched to a purple shampoo that Niko suggested and it helped. Love these videos so keep them coming.

Andra: Love your suggestions for the layers and cooler brown tone! I would love to see a video on toners! My hair always pulls warm and I really want a cooler, dark blonde. Thanks for suffering in the heat to produce the view you gave us.

Genevieve Doyon: Love the cool brown and side part,it’s a small change with a huge impact. Going gray is a very personal decision, I took the plunge 3 years ago and I’ve learned to ❤️ and embrace my salt & pepper hair. Would love a video on how to using toners and keeping the yellow at bay. ❤️

Tara Mama: I’ve embraced my hair grey highlights and took out all my yellow. My hair is now all cool toned and I’m loving it! Purple shampoo and conditioner are my best friends!

Vicki Zeimen: This is a good example of how we tell our stylists what we want and why and then they just do whatever they want anyway. I love my hairstylist and even when I don't get exactly what I want it's a really good haircut and color. I would love some words to use when talking to our stylists that will get us closer to what we want. I think sometimes we just don't know how to explain in the proper hair talk that they understand.

Angeli Rohival: I have followed Justin’s advice about parting my hair on the side, and I love the way my hair looks now. It’s easier to add volume with a side part. I love this channel!

Jj K: Such a good series. Sidebar: Wondering if you are still pursuing finding a route to produce your volumizing hair product or has that effort been tabled?

thedevilandhertrumpets: Finding a stylist who’s good at layering & beveling is a challenge! I love long layers, and my last stylist just took major inches off instead of layering & keeping length. ANYWAYS, thanks for your videos & the focus on women in their summer, fall & winter seasons of life.

JLeigh: My hair will probably never go that gorgeous gray; it just looks more desaturated, dishwater as I age. I loved Gina's before haircut hair, the cooler brown, and the gray curveball. I think it's to Gina to choose which gives her confidence, because that's the most attractive part of the beautiful influencer she emulates. Gina -- you rock!!

Southern HotMess: I would love to see a video on toners, etc. I agree 100% that her color is to warm and a cooler color would look much better on her. I also believe Gina would look great going grey, but is she looking for that contrast that Nikol has? The dark underneath and more silver on top? I agree on moving the part over and it would help with lifting & volume. I love the smile in the pictures and confidence Gina shows, but when she mentioned makeup and changing it because of going grey (which I have been doing for the last 2 years) changing up her eyeliner and taking those tips from Nikol may also help how she feels about the grey. Gina is a beautiful lady and I am sure she will get to where she wants with her hair taking your tips Justin! This is all my opinion and going grey can be hard because it is not an overnight transition. It takes time.

Jess S: I'm currently in my 2nd year transitioning to gray. I follow tons of other ladies on IG and they are always talking about changing clothing and makeup. The tricky part is during all the years you have roots. Roots just don't look great in general. I think it's rare that natural gray washes someone out, but with the wrong makeup and clothing colors, it may not work cohesively. I totally agree with you. I am biased, but agree that she should embrace her natural color! I think Nikol Johnson is gorgeous, but I also think her hair style is very obsolete! It works great on her, but I don't think many people could pull it off and look modern. I was initially inspired by Sarah Harris from British Vogue and Annika Von Holdt to go gray!

Blake Hahn- Atlanta, Ga: Love the cool brown , cut and side part you suggested Justin. I just moved my part back to the side last weekend! I wanted more volume on the top and the center part wasn’t helping! Glad to know I made the right decision! Love your channel and great tips!

CocoatMidnight: I liked her gray. Being gray myself, I am lucky to not have my color changed to yellow. I am a true salt and pepper “winter cool”. Nikol uses winter color, strong pinks, bright orange and cobalt blues to complement her tones.

Susanne D.: I tried going gray about 4 years ago (I'm 66 now) and caught sight of an "old lady with my jacket" in a department store - it was a mirror!! I went home and coloured my hair! Currently I'm 'strawberry blonde' (90% gray - level 5 brown originally) and love it. Please do a "How to Use Toners" video. I'm Team Dionna as well - I prefer the brown hair rather than gray. Thank you both for another great video and the nature background.

B Meetze: You and your wife are so funny together! I love seeing happy, dynamic couples!!

Kathy O: If you're interested in going gray, just do it. You get the color that nature thinks you should have. I did it and love it. As for Nikol, her hairstyle bugs me. JMHO. I think it ages her drastically. We can have gray hair and not have to wear a bob. But going gray was soooo freeing.

Susan Chaney: I like the brown color on her too! Much more youthful. A close friend went "au natural" and I just can't tell her how I think it washes her out.

Donna Graham: Moving Gina's part off center was a game changer. It flatters the shape of her face and gives her hair the appearance of more volume. I do agree with you about her color. She could wear the "improved" brown or the gray, as long as she tweaks her makeup and clothing color.

Shannon Nauer: I'm with your wife on this one, actually by quite a bit. If she went brown, but a cooler brown like you said. Your wife made me choke on my coffee when she jumped out behind you the first time, it caught me off guard and I started laughing......and then choking!! This might be a long shot, but would you ever consider doing a video on which color is which? What I mean is, is ash cool or warm, where does "beige" fall in when your talking brunette (this one comes from beige being an option on eSalon in the dark brunette section when choosing a color), why does dark hair turn that weird orangey/red color after coloring sometimes? Things like that. Or a video on how to choose a hair stylist? I'll check the playlist and see if these already exist. Btw, I love the fact that Gina knows what she wants and is willing to try different things! Much love from AZ ❤️!!

louise fletcher: Great content and discussion guys I liked your suggestion to make Gina's hair, slightly a cooler brown as it suits her skin tone and looks more youthful on her also the bob, that is shorter, exposed more of her neck, lifting the eye up to her attractive face.

Marisa Cooper: Your visual demos are gold- making so much sense. I’m seeing similar issues happening in my husband’s hair style too. He’s trying to find a stylist to tame his longer style that grew during pandemic and we don’t want to cut it all short since it’s thinning… now we may be able to articulate better what he’s wanting. We need to find you when we visit OR in the fall. Also embracing my “au naturale” gray… actually love it so far. Thank you❣️

Patricia B.: I decided to go grey, when make-up and haircolor got in a big contrast and my skin looked pale and ill. Off course, i had to get used to see me gray, and i changed some colors of clothing and make-up. Sometimes we think, that coloured hair makes us look younger, but sometimes it's more than obvious, that it is fake! But it is necessary to get the right haircut!!!

MA G: I actually liked the colour she had in the longer hairstyle, but it's hard to tell without a front shot. I think it might have been a bit red. Would love to see a full video of how not to go yellow or in my case a bit red when covering the grays. Definitely like the style you chose for her and the style you put on her from Nikol. As you mentioned, her hair is lighter, thinner and wavier than Nikols, which should give her more options of how to actually style her hair. That would also be good to see- practical looks eg pinned up in the 100° heat etc. Thanks for all your suggestions and for the beautiful scenery too!

Nancy Carol: Love the shorter hair, the browns and the gray and Nicole's hair style was perfect (without all the volume) on her. She has options with her colors, because she looks good as a brunette or with gray. I was hoping for something just a bit wilder, but this has a PG rating, so I guess not. Nice video, Justin. Love it when Dionna pops in!

Linda Marocco: I have gone a’ naturale and absolutely love it!!!…I had to change makeup colors, and also got extensions to add length and volume!…I have never gotten so many compliments on my hair, and it is not aging….

Charlotte Johnk: Great video! Ive taken your advice so seriously that I now have a modified flapper hairstyle. It’s cut to the nape of my neck, beveled in the back, angled to the front with bangs and a side part, I love it!!! I think always learn something new and it’s so much fun to watch your enthusiasm and interaction with your wife.

Wiepie DeVries: You are so right about changing a lot more on you're looks when you're going grey. In my case I went for more vivid colors in my clothes and bronzer and stronger lipstick in my makeup so I wouldn't look to greyish allover. I was lucky with my grey hair, my natural hair color was cool dark brown and my grey hair has that cool steely look. I would like to see more styling video's, how to use different tools for different effects. Thank you for your video's.

Activate Learning: Thanks for the video. I always find them informative and educational. They help me articulate what I want to do with my hair and style to my hairdresser. I’ve bit the bullet and gone grey (thanks to lockdowns) through gradual lightening of my hair and constant cutting of ends. Then, patience. I’m loving my salt and pepper look but noticed that I need to style my bob that is not too harsh. It needs a bit of wave to look “youngish”. I had to change my whole makeup look to add contrast to my face. Best thing? Just playing around. You just know when it’s right when you feel good in your skin.

Linda Marocco: I have followed Nikol and love her channel!…her grey is absolutely stunning!!!!!

Belinda Crisp: Just sharing but I had grey roots like Gina's. When I actually grew out my hair it didn't look anything like I thought it would. It's a kind of champagne colour and I really like it. I didn't particularly change my makeup but I did feel more drawn to cooler colours which suit me far better.

Dawn Porteous: Hi Justin, I love your videos. About 3 years ago, I let my hair colour grow out from very dark brown. I am now completely grey, in fact my hair is quite white. It took several years for me to adjust to seeing myself in this startling colour. I didn’t feel like it was me looking back at me from the mirror. I love my grey hair now but it took a while to adjust. The other adjustment was the change in texture that happens when your hair turns grey, it can make styling a challenge. Once again, thanks for all your advice. Dawn

Music Lover: Justin, this was fun. Dionna (Diona?) is hysterical. She seems like a barrel of fun! I love when she is in your videos. I follow Nikol and have to say she has a ton of hair. The volumizing techniques she teaches are helpful, but her volume is due to amazing density. Nikol has to tame that density where the rest of us have to create the illusion as you have taught us. Gray isn’t always a striking silver or white, and even changing to cool tone makeup and clothing colors, doesn’t always work well depending on skin tone. My gray is like a dirty manhole cover. No matter what I did…my hair color was just boring. I tried to embrace that manhole shade for 5 years and finally reintroduced some color with high and low lights, keeping some of the gray. I feel better and getting compliments once again. Maybe when more of the gray takes over I will like it, or maybe i can have it processed to turn it more white but I fear that would result in a lot of damage.

Dana Jarden: I ALWAYS learn so much from these videos! No matter what you're addressing, I feel like you're inside my head and answering my questions. Lol. Thank you! And I'm going to check out the yellowing hair color video right now because I don't think that I've seen it. Yay, something else that I'm trying to fix!

t gardenchicken: Gina, thanks for sharing, you are already a beautiful woman. I too love Nikol. I decided years ago to go gray and have embraced it totally. Remember you can always dye it if you want- isn't that wonderful? Anyway, love the final style with side part and cooler tone. Imagine adjusting makeup to those cooler tones, then dipping into the gray again. What fun and excitement. Keeping your goal of classy and stylish you will always be beautiful, Gina. Thanks. Jason for the great tips and reminders about fullness and optical illusion. (I am using them for a haircut- major style change- I have coming up soon.)

Anne Lance: Yes talk about toners for grey hair please! Love this series!

Michele Charlton: It's amazing on how just parting your hair a little off-center makes a big difference. Also, I think the gray could add a little more sophistication to her look.

Kathy Snyder: Yes, I’d like to see a video about toners. I have let my hair go gray and haven’t had to fight any yellowing yet.

Karen Shannon: Yes, the cooler brown can look nice! Also Gina should really study which colors complement her best. And you should do her hair for her! Her stylist can't seem to help.

Barb Keeley: Great video! Great info. I had no idea that your makeup would have to change if you change your hair color…grey or not…no wonder when I get my hair colored and try a different color, I usually don’t like it. I agree I think the brown style looks more uthful on her, and the layers made a big difference. I would love to learn more about toners and what they do. Thanks again for another good one!

Kim Shine: I love your videos. I'm starting to go grey around 20 - 30%. My natural hair is medium brown. The grey's look yellowish. Can I use purple shampoo or what can I do to make the grey less yellow? I occasionally use a temporary hair color (close to my natural color) to cover it up but it usually washes out after a couple of washes.

Kimbo Haze: You and your wife are adorable! I think Gina would look great with either color and love Nicole's style on her. Also that view definitely doesn't suck! Love, love, love the scenery!

Lisa Young: I would love to see a video on toners! Thanks for sharing your knowledge!

lynn baity: Brown for sure. I too absolutely love Nichol. She has beautiful gray hair. But not everyone should go gray just because they have gray hair under their color.

Mandi's Cards: I like the brown, it’s just more sunshiny with her skin tone. Would love to learn about toning!

Barb Robbins: I also follow Nikol and adore her. We need to keep in mind that Nikol does professional photo shoots and may get her hair and makeup done for them. Also, as you mentioned, she has been blessed with glorious hair.

Anne Blankinship: I think that the grey on her is nice and with a neckline/color change and makeup modifications she would look rather stunning. Go for it! I have noticed that after I went grey I needed to change my makeup and also I need to be very careful to keep my hair moisturized or the dry frizz can really age me. I wear more lip color now so I don’t look washed out. Your channel is very helpful! Thanks

Holly Hunter: You’re work is impeccable! I agree with you that Gina looks much better brown. Your suggestions was completely on point. Gina is a lovely woman she will be rockin the style & color you suggested. Thank you for your dedication, your wisdom, while sweltering (but beautiful views in the back ground). I am new to your channel, & loved all I have seen and heard in your videos. Im taking your suggestions and putting them into play. Thank you very much. hk

Julie Meyers: I am at that stage also, trying to decide to go grey. Worried about the changes in makeup and clothing colors and if it is worth the hassle.

Linda Marocco: Gina is beautiful, more volume looks awesome, and I think she can carry off grey hair, 100 percent!!!!!.great video, Justin!!!!..and Dionna!!!!

Betty Faria: Love your content. You and your wife are so cute together. I have S&P hair and it gets yellow now and then. I would love to see more info on how to get rid of it. Thanks.

Michael Rudzik: I loved her gray elegant bob. She just needs to learn some makeup tricks to enhance her fine features. I see her wearing strong colors and her eyes need a pop with the hair color. Yes please more in gray hair tricks and how to transition.

Tammy Frank: I love both colors on her! Just a change in her lips will make a huge change! She is beautiful!!!

Holly CAMPBELL: Grey hair is tricky- you need to have a cool hair style and clothes style to make it not age you.

Lisa Easler: I like her hair brown with the layering & beveling and the soft waves ... and definitely a side part!

As the Crowe Flies: I like brown, this final brown cut. I love the idea of her going grey, but I think the right cut comes first. Wear it for a while, make sure you can style it properly, and nothing about the styling takes too much effort. Once you love the style, then go grey. Whether you grow out grey slowly or color it grey with low and high lights all at once and blend in the natural grey as it appears, I think you will be more satisfied. I hope so! You will look lovely, either way, with your beautiful smile lighting your face.

Debbie CS: I think the gray would look great on her and wearing it straight is pretty. She should get volume too since she has wavy hair. It’s just a matter of bending those waves straight but voluminous.

Kathy Sarmiento: I really like Gina with the grey hair and a little contrast. It looks so nice!

Manana Gagua: Yes, the video about the tonners would be great. The brassy tone of my color is annoying. Thank you

Karen Lund: The brown is great on her. She just doesn’t look old enough to go grey, if that makes any sense.

Tammy Frank: I’d love to see how to keep yellow out of grey hair!

Janet Wood: I like the go grey idea, with right makeup and possibly have colours done for her wardrobe ,as hair and skin tone change what colours suit us. Love your videos. Thank you .

Deborah Cameron: Another great video. I’d love it if you did a video on how to select and connect with a good stylist.

Helen Luvs2Laugh: I think what makes Nicole look so striking with the gray hair is the contrast between the lightness of her gray hair and the darkness and boldness of her brows. I think this lady looks much more approachable with the brown hair and I think it suits her coloring better. But having said that, I think she needs to do what she wants to do. I do thank you for pointing out that the center part adds width to the sides is that is what I am trying to do as I have a tall forehead that need no additional height. I would love to see a new video with information about cutting the yellow and brass out of the hair. I use purple shampoo but would love to have some tips. Thanks for all you do and I think your wife is so cool. She just adds a happy glow to your videos

Rae Cunningham: Oh my! Huge improvement for her! Great job!

Gigi: You’re amazing Justin. Please don’t put yourself down! You’re wife is beautiful too, so is your mom!

Pam B: I think she looks good both ways. I wish my hair would turn gray. I understand her situation. But if my hair would turn gray I would love it. I stopped coloring my hair years ago. And I guess I’m taking after my mom. She turned gray late. My dad’s family were all gray at 30. I had been coloring my hair for years and got tired of it. I’m really surprised I still have hair after all the things I put it through. I think the darker color looked good on her roots. Mine still aren’t like that. And my hair is short. Some of us just don’t turn gray naturally.

Teena Covert: I like the brown! Some women look fabulous in gray but not many. The complexion has to be just right to make it really work. Not everyone grays beautifully!

Tracey U: Completely off topic: Do you believe that shampoo, conditioner and hair styling products should be at a low Ph, around 3.5-5.5? I just read an article about low Ph in skincare and hair care products and how it is better suited to the health of our skin and hair. I would love to know your opinion and perhaps a video on the subject?

Sonja Forrester: Please do a video on toning. Also I would love a video on how to go grey? I have medium brown hair and would love over the next 5-10 years to go grey. My hair grows super slow so just stopping coloring and growing is probably not an option..really!

kathym51: Please make a video on keeping gray hair from yellowing!

Beth: I prefer the brown bob. I think it looks alot more youthful.

Terri Rojas: Gina could honestly and easily go either way. However, if like me, she likely does not have the same gray as Nikol. I agree that gray doesn't inherently age a woman, but it does have to be enough gray. I too was inspired by Nikol during covid, and grew out my hair almost completely gray - I got to about 2" at the ends left of color and then, nope! My gray is too evenly dispersed - too salt and peppery and it did age me. I don't have cool, thick, white streaks (like Nikol) or gray patches (like my mom, she has cool, patchy patterns of white and gray in her hair), so I went back to coloring it. Gina is very fortunate to have a lot of hair too - it looks fine, but it looks like a lot! And her skin is beautiful. Double lucky - she can pretty much do either and it will look like herself and great!

Lynnaia Haugen: Hello. Consider changing the color of her sweater as well. Since her skin tone and hair color leans toward warm, the blue (cool) sweater is working against her and not complimenting her overall appearance. If she had gray hair that tends to be cooler, the blue sweater would be a compliment. Perhaps in your videos you can tinker with clothes colors, too.

Silke Heinemann: Great job! Thank you for this video!

selective outrage: I wish you'd do a hair makeover on Beth of FiftyPlusBeauty channel. She is in her sixties, great shape, great makeup but her hair is very long and frizzy. I think it ages her. I want her to look the best she can. I think she lives in Wichita so if you go on the road you might even meet her. Otherwise, plenty of videos on her channel

Pat B: definitely would love a video about toners!

jo4vt: I think the cooler brown looks great. If she has a cooler brown base, could she get gray highlights throughout, that would help blend in her roots? Are gray highlights (for blending the natural grays) a thing?

Angels Among Us: Yes please do a video on Toners! Thank you

Donna W: I like her hair brown, she has many years ahead of her that she can go gray.

Rena Mae McDonald: I like your suggestions & think it would be great if she did choose to go grey

selective outrage: I like Nikol's hair style on her but with her cooler brown color. Best of both worlds

Patricia Roller: I absolutely love your videos, and that you incorporate the outdoors in so many of them. How do we submit photos to you as I could use some suggestions on my hair, and style

Tay D.: Ladies who choose to go grey don’t know what they will get..more grey, more silver, more white or in my case a gorgeous mix of grey and silver. We are all different so skin tones differ… you would have to change your makeup with any color change or leaving it natural …what god gave u which I think grey is…since the results differ.

Jacq Churchm: Yes please a video about toners!

Jan Jenkins: I’d be keen on a video on toners

Faye Jordan: Gray hair just looks old period. Women can still look pretty when looking older.

Rock 'N' Roll: Love these videos! Please come to Austin, Texas. You "Rock"!

Rae Cunningham: She should stay brown, definitely!

light: She should go with a nice cool brown all the way

LISA B.: I think that she should stay brunette and I agree with your newer haircut and part. NJ has a very high contrast complexion and hair color, it is gorgeous. I am also a brunette with cool tones and gray is not an option for me.

Tanya Wersinger: You two are adorable ❤️

Janice Millican: FYI Nikol just did a video on adjusting makeup for gray hair

Carol Miller: yes please to toners , my hair is natural blonde but goes brassy in the sun .so need a cool shade .

Cheri Lawhon: Another great video Justin!!!

Rosi Campbell: Question- what is the name of your travel channel?? I did not see a link in the description and couldn’t find in a search. You guys are so entertaining and informative on this channel and would love to see your travels and adventures! ✈️

Linda Curtis: I do like the brown better, maybe if her hair were more grey it would work better.

Siobhan MacAndrew: I think grey - the photoshop version doesnt look like a real grey it is too steely. Lots of shades of greys as high and low lights would look glam - maybe even a money piece like the influencer (Nikol? Sorry didnt catch the name). Even if you had blanked out the sweater it would have let her see the grey look better. The make up is a huge one too - the influencer clearly spends time on make up every day and uses dramatic techniques but Gina is a natural gal - so she might like the persona of Nikol, but not want to be her? Thanks once again for a first class thought- provoking film.

Tana Suter: Toner video? Yes, please!

Mette Grundt: I like the cooler colour on her bur the grey is fine too. The problem I see is the colour on the shirt. It is wrong on her
