My name is Lauralyn from the Braiding Lounge Academy in London and I'm about to show you how to put a bump in your hair or some may call it a quiff.. Okay, we're going to begin to take our section of hair and make sure it's proper. To begin with. Take a section around the top of the hair and separate it from the rest, so we can begin creating our bump. Put a clip here to get this out of the way.. Now we're going to take some sections of the hair that you have separated and begin to backcomb with a fine tooth. Comb. Apply a little bit of hairspray, because the client's hair is quite fine, and that will help me backcomb that much easier.. You just slowly begin to comb. You don't really need to take it all to the end.. The main section of the hair that we want to be combed is from the root to the mid-section of the hair., So again apply the hairspray and begin to backcomb and allow that to fall behind.. As you can see, I've taken three sections and even some around the sides and the front.. The reason for this is because I want to tease and smooth the hair over the top, and this will begin to allow us to create the bump or the quiff effect that we are looking for.. If you need a little more hairspray to help, you along feel free. Begin to shape and tease the hair over the top of the backcombed sections.. As you can see, I've twisted it once and pushed it slightly forward. I'm pushing it forward to create the height that the client decides. It can just be secured with pins or an elastic band.. If you choose to use an elastic band, always cut it out of the hair, never pull it out of the hair.. You can just dress the strands at the end of the hair, however, you see fit. And there you have it.. This is a version of the bump in the hair or a quid, as I would prefer to call it, and there you go.
