Ladi Viv: anyone else remember when u didnt need an appointment you just showed up waited ur turn and bought dvds, cds, and homemade dinners from local sellers walking into the shop...oh im the only one

Lighting Lotus: I remember a hair wash was apart of that experience

Divine Timing We R Rising: Bring back old school stylists that actually care!!

Tracey Eagle: Let’s not forget when they are late and still want you to pay the same price.

ang p: I did hair from 2000-2019. Owned my own salons etc. never would I have allowed the trashy, overpriced, lack of professionalism in my salon that I see now. It’s Ridiculous! These new stylist thinks they are doing us a favor— No boo, we’re helping you stay relevant..

Deanda: I was a stylist from 1997 to 2018. Shampoo, conditioner, ends trimmed was ALL included. This was the EXPERIENCE! Massage scalp n everything. Idk wtf these new wanna b hairstylist, overcharging and bringing your edges out! A DAMN SHAME! FYI I've been asked a bunch of times to come out of retirement.

V: Can't believe they don't wash hair anymore

Stacy Lala: If you can’t wash my hair then I won’t go, that’s part of the styling experience. Maybe that’s why I have been doing my own hair the last 20 years

Colina Sanders: Don’t forget the book of styles you use to pick from that the stylist offered and previously did

Evette: She came in dolled up already. Did she just pay the stylist for taking a spin in the chair and flipping some of the hair forward?!?!?!?

Yaileen Maldonado Méndez: I remember when I used to get my long hair cut, dyed blowdried and straightened for $60. Now it costs $300 just to have my hair dyed...

Carolyn Merritt: I despise a salon. Be in there by all day. Have to pack a lunch, and make sure my phone is fully charged so i can watch at least two movies while I'm in that chair.

Mari Addis: I haven't been to a salon in over 10 years. But washing hair used to be the main part. One of my old beauticians used to known for having " growing hands." It was because of the way she washed and conditioned our hair, as well as her scalp massages.

Bethany Drummond: I was a hairstylist for a few years and it was actually insane seeing these people who weren’t even that experienced say they’re charging 600 for a part foil and to trim off the dead ends it’s like an extra 100… and they want to use the excuse that they’re “experienced” but can’t even foil without causing bleed marks smh

Yamika Wardlaw: Wtf did she just spin her around and said she done I can’t deal

BourneGod _Kiy: The turn in the chair and the hair lay made me scream This is why I started doing my own hair.

mrs kay: This is so accurate. These stylist be having a pile of rules and regulations, and extra fees for services that should come with the style, then don't be doing ish on ur hair.

fefew810: Came wash and blow dryed and still paid $250

Sofia Butterflies: And that's y I learn how to do my own hair these hairstylists are just like these new nurse just careless they in it for the money not for the love of it.

Asia Henry: If a stylist tells me to shampoo before, I'm reporting her to state boards and mess her whole life up. By law, you're not supposed to be styling hair you didn't shampoo or had your assistant shampoo

Ruby Joan: I stop going to the salon , I use to go faithfully every two weeks I thought it was just me but the new stylist not only over price half the time they didn’t know what there were doing smh ‍♀️

Jessica Cunningham: True. That's why I stay with the same beautician. She does all that

Lede Pat: Thats a DAMN shame but this is what these stylists be on FAKE STYLING, Im glad I can whip a style in my own head

His Heart: These new stylist really make us look bad

Latrice Mitchell: Pretty much!‍♀️ thts why I look up YT tutorials and get it poppin on my own now‍♀️

V M: Have to wash my own hair, blow dry it, then go buy the hair, then to drive to you. It's too much lol

Rebe: That's exactly how beauticians do it! Fixing hair that doesn't need to be fixed in some cases LOL

J: Has anyone called the cosmetology board?

MaryWall -A: Yep, I've experienced some shady stuff in the salons I've visited in my area. SMH smh

Wendy Red: Back in the early 2000s hair stylist was hair stylist these days I don't know what the hell they doing it doesn't make sense ! I mean why why even get into the field when you don't want to do the work I don't get it

tiffany fowler: I have gone through hair stylist in the past 5 years like Marilyn Monroe has gone through men I'm happy I have found someone who cares about my natural hair and it's health and says “No” without hesitation when required

Kay3434: It's so true. The very same routine I had done not too many years ago for $45 is now $250. I do my own hair now.

Alicia Robinson: You ain't ever lied!!!!

Amarilis: I went to this one lady who did a good job but was like pressuring me to leave her a review before I left. I was like I gotta go pick up my kid lady

Tia: I stopped going to the salon when they stopped washing hair hell that’s the best part, been a loc queen 5 years now

bricbrac28: That washed and blow dried is absolutely fax. This one lady told me if she had to wash my hair that was $50 extra and I said but you're a stylist and she was like yeah but we just expect people to come right alrdy

PRODIGAL FLOWER: That sums it up for the new generation! I feel privileged for having grown up with TRUE BEAUTICIANS that cared about your hair, washed conditioned and treated your hair if needed! Now, they tell me I need to come completely washed, conditioned and blow dried. So I'm doing my own natural hair now! Not for all the TEA!

Marinerdiva1: Lord the accuracy! You can't even get your hair washed and the have the nerve to have an attitude if you don't and then charge you extra money if they even touch you at all! No thank you

Yanna: She don’t charge a spin on a chair fee wow! Such a great stylist!

T. R.: Me and my stylist talk about this foolishness all the time. I've been going to her over 20 years and I feel for the day she stops doing hair.

Trinity Roy: And have the audacity to charge a late fee but don't reduce the price when they are late...that's why I do my own hair

TheReal OG: that's why I do my own!! these beauticians, barbers, nail artists be tripping!! idk what's going on these days.

Shivon Monique: Lol so real I got Salon phobia smh. Be doing my own ish and praying for the best.

Tami K: Thanks to YouTube I have taught myself to do so many protective styles. There’s no way in heck I would pay these prices and have to wash and dry my own hair too! Not I!

Mariah La'Shay Way: To those complaining abt not washing hair etc... Not everyone is a Cosmetology student... A cosmo License requires washes etc etc. Being a former braider etc is a certification type if thing it dnt require the same.. But some folks still do washes... Now I have seen some salons do not wash and they have the damn License too that shit ridiculous ‍♀️...

karen brank: No stylist would do my hair without washing it.

deweydrop: I stopped going to my best friend of 25 years who’s a stylist, when she did some half ass highlights, left me golden blonde NOT platinum like I ask for every time, ANDDDDD she left my hair wet. Not styled at all. And still charged me $150 not including a tip. She had another client come in on my appointment time and prioritized her. I love her to death. We haven’t talked about it but I’m sure she gets the message. I haven’t been to her in 7 months.

Patricia Thomas: You see this is why I style my own hair and do my own nails self care ok

jazzip: This time of inflation and a gross increased cost of living, all they are doing is forcing people to do their own hair. I moved to the Caribbean from London UK the hair standards in terms of handling brought me back to childhood. Even the “natural” salons don’t know the basics of applying leave in conditioner before attempting to deranged hair which has been washed 3 times with clarifying shampoo. The tension used when applying box braids had me dang near in tears then I had to pay for my pain. My mid back length hair is now below my ears. Long story short I do my own hair now as I begin my journey ALL over again. Edit : *detangle* not me fighting autocorrect smh

Shirelle Harris: The salon I go to still washes and sets my hair for $35 dollars. They're Dominican and I love sitting in that chair getting my hair washed and my scalp massages, then sit under the dryer until I fall asleep and then get my hair blow dried. It's still an experience. I don't get my hair done anywhere else. I can't go to these new hair stylists with their high prices and funky nasty attitudes. The ladies still come in with their products to sell and the atmosphere is welcoming. No appointments. Just walk in. I Love it. The place I go to is still professional and that's how I like it.

TheShampooCoachHotLatherKyASMR: Sadly this is so true. Ima old school hairdresser and I would never do this. INTEGRITY is out the door these days I guess‍♀️

Lashay: This makes makes me want to open up an old school type of salon. And I will only hire stylists that understand professionalism and also who understand that clients do not have to come with their hair washed. We will wash, cut and style. I’ll have magazines they can pick out of or tablets with hair styles on there for them. I feel like we’ve become so greedy and antisocial. I’m 40 and my experiences going to the beauty shop as a kid and a young lady was awesome!!! I learned a lot of wisdom from those aunties and grandmas in there. Not now though. All you hear about is that drama on tv or they drama at home and it’s just discouraging and uncomfortable now. I don’t even go.

Meenalena06 P: She is going to zelle her for chair spend and a hair flip. Thank God my cousin is old school and she still wash hair. Thank goodness she still do all the detangling and extra

Maida Abdi: I've never knew that being a hairstylist is so easy all you have to do is turn them around then put their hair to the side

Toya G: They need to regulate the hair dressing industry. Everything should be standardized. Explain to me how a mobile hair dresser or barber, who doesn't own a shop and have over heads. Can sometimes charge you more than a salon???

Jenelle Burton: Though the video is hilarious . I had my hair relaxed at a salon, and there was like no styling included in the service, I was seriously in shock. The stylist just left my hair blowing in the wind.

Chrislyna: I have my own salon and I'm a cosmetologist so this is so funny and hilarious and true

daLadyDy: I know that's right. I have had to learn to take care of my own hair. I love my natural hair. I never realize how beautiful my curly hair was until my last stylist crossed the line with me. I'll never flatiron again. I only went for the shampoo and conditioner. Today's stylist don't care about your hair. It's all about the dollar.

ShaceeStoner: Bruh , our own people do us sooooo dirty. I be baffled bruh, that’s why African braiding salons will forever get my coins ‍♀️

sadie: I've always done my own hair. I wish I would of finished cosmetology school...that's a goal 2023

qww: paying $260 for a hair cut, then coming back in another 2 weeks. shit. then complaining about child support

Janet Martin: I'm a stylist ok and I can't find a stylist to take care of my hair correctly!!! Shampoo, trim, and blowdry or set is part of MY experience for my clients....have had the same clients for over 20 years!

Linda: Just remember as a consumer you have the power to choose who your stylist is! There will be at least one stylist in your area, that provides all the services. Choose the stylist that meets your needs, not the other way around! ❤

IamCarolynAnn!: Lol!Exactly ridiculous I stay with the old school stylist

Unicorn 4949: “Ok , and you are done “

Shayla Brown: Exactly why I've gone to the same gal since I was three. These new stylists are a joke

LilNikki: I can’t believe the hair dresser was there and ready.

MsOldSoul: I just can’t stand when the salons got the News on all day smh I’m paying to already sit here for 6 hours and I gotta watch the damn News smh ‍♀️

More Information needed: One trick that will stop all of this...stop going to the hair salons that charge ridiculous prices.

blacksheba41: Get there at 1245 because appt at 1...shampoo/mold/dryer at 2:00-3:00, style at 4:30 and out at 530 because the hairstylist want to stop every 5 min to talk and dont forget that 30 min lunch break= 60.00....that's why I went natural..lol

NezyNails: Can't remember the last time I walked into a hair salon... ☕️ ...

OpticalXray: Doing tracks does not make you a hairstylist you're sewing in fake hair so you're not even really doing anything to the hair

Noemi Scharbay: I took my son to a salon to do box braids. Hair washed, blowed dry, cut.....the girl was 1.5 hours late, literally did 13 braids $105 !!!!!!!! And she was waiting for a tip!!!!

barbara Walker: This is why I do my own hair

KeeT: I'm in the wrong line of business

Kimberly Natasha: She didn’t even take the time to put a cape on her

Terrie J: Meanwhile other sister is still slaying her client’s hair like a pro should

Cook, Dance, And pray🙏🏾 through it‼️: Facts‼️ its a shame‼️ we should boycott to make them appreciate us!!! Grrrrr

Empress H: Yeah! I do not understand these new hair stylists either. For 75% of that price, with real stylists. I got a wash, blow dry, and sew-in weave. That's why I started doing my hair on my own. Even more, nowadays.

lori swepson: I had a stylist who washed, deep conditioned, steamed, blew dry, greased, massaged and braided my hair for $75. She is amazing unfortunately she got angry with and refuses to do my hair anymore . No I don’t know why but she still does my daughters hair.

mythoughts 176: WAIT WHY DO CLIENTS HAVE TO HAVE THEIR HAIR WASHED AND BLOWN DRY ALREADY??? THIS IS TOO FUNNY!!!

Aneecia Williams: Hair dressers these days are so lazy and expensive .. I'm sick of them

Divine Timing in Rhyme: Yeah right. She would’ve made her wait before starting and then did that

ARIA: I been going to the same lady since I was 10 years old I’m 24 now. I’m not giving up them good ass head scratches she give me while she shampoos my hair lmao. What’s w these new girls?

Jasmine Smith: My stylist still shampoo and deep treat my hair. She's ole school I don't do new school

Angel Blue: Back in the day someone can come in wait until there turn, now you have to make appointments

Aiyana The Star 💫: That would’ve been $950 plus $50 for not coming 30 min earlier and a mandatory 200%tip

Lori Simms: There are plenty of hair salons which is great. I think more excercise & weight loss studios are needed IMMEDIATELY!!!!

Sunetta Ferguson: What in the …. Is going on these days!I remember when the stylist actually did your hair.

Star Blane: What did she really do to her hair besides charging her so much just to put her hair on two sides she could have done that herself

taleia price: I swear someone is always surprised when I wash, deep condition, and hot oil their hair before the style... It's a part of the process like what?!?! That's where "them Growing Hands" comes from like...where's the professionalism?

Brittney Perkins: As a licensed cosmetologist YOU SHOULD BE WASHING HAIR! That’s one of the best parts of the experience other than the finished style.

Serena Edmond: I look forward to my hair appointments but, she'll have to do more than that! Lol Cute video tho...

smf427: New Age Stylists

Latoya Gilmore: Yep... nowadays, they only know how to do wig installs... most don't even know how to do natural hair.

cherryblossom: I have a hairstylist like this, but he have so many clients in a day and since he is my stylist since I was little ,I would just wash and dry my own hair in his shop when he's very busy especially on a Saturdays it's his worst day and i still pay him the full amount he charges but the good thing he do is not charge me sometimes for my hairstyle and he'll do his magic

kia__tequila: Omg girl when she said 15 extra. I said I’m so sick of these up charge. Now I’m laughing ahhaha it really be like that now.

Ludmira Gomes: I miss old school hair dressers . I don’t know what the new ones be on

j: THIS S*** HAD ME DOWN LAUGHING AT WORK ✅⚫

Bree Free: No because THAT’S my ick…Do y’all not understand basic biology? You’re telling me some stylist’s tools are all up in someone’s dandruff and sebum on the regular? When I was younger, the wash was the most relaxing part of the salon experience. Black woman work too hard for their money for it to be wasted on this type of service and i’m seriously seeing it more and more. I was getting my hair done in ATL and started talking to my stylist about this. She’s older and used to do hair in L.A. She was shocked because the number one thing for her is working on a clean scalp. You don’t know what these people have going on in their scalp. Fungal infections are a real mf thing. I really try to support black business but this has happened to me before and I was getting braids. Sis just continued on slapping gel and all sorts of things on an unwashed scalp. Please learn basic hygiene and maintenance, black women deserve better. We should be proud doing each-other’s hair. And on top of that, you’re asking for a deposit and I can’t even get my mf hair cleaned? Chile‍♀️
