Hair Stylist First Impressions Of The *New* Dyson Airwrap 1.6" Long Barrel

Hey if you're new here welcome, I'm Katie, I'm a professional hair stylist, and this is going to be my first impression of the new Dyson air wrap 1.2 inch long barrel. I have never used it before and I just read a bunch of reviews on Ulta's website and then I went ahead and bought one without watching any videos on how to do it. So, let's get right to it. I'Ve been thinking about getting myself a Dyson for at home because I use one at the salon and I love it so much and I don't like using a regular blow dryer anymore, but I was like you know what I'm gon na spend all this money. Let me first get the air wrap and see if I like that, and if I don't then I'll return it and just get a regular blow dryer for myself. Let me go for the goal. This thing is ridiculously expensive. I got the Prussian Blue, I don't know what it's called. I don't know it's the blue and rose gold, one that they just came out. Not the rose gold, not the copper. My hair falls out like crazy all right, so my hair is like air dried. 80. 80 air dry and I brushed it, and I put leaf and flour, seven minute: blowout and Kevin Murphy heated the fence heat protection in there and I brush through it. So I'm about to try this bad boy out. I have coarse thick kind of long hair and I have no idea what I'm doing so, let's find out, I don't know which way is which yet this ain't freaking huge. It'S like, as long as my body, I don't know which direction it's going at all or what speed I'm supposed to have it on. Let'S try low speed, because this is my lights - are flashing, okay, instructions. I got this but uh. I don't got this um. I have no idea what I'm doing at all all right, kawanda, okay, you have, you have to start at the bottom, not the top of my hairstyle, so I curl from the top down, but you got to do the ends first. Well, my bad! So far. This is not going like. I thought it would go. I'M gon na try to make a YouTube video on this add to the other thousands of Dyson videos on all right. Let'S switch directions, let's maybe go a lower fan and let's try it. It'S a cold shot button, I'm learning where the buttons are that way. I don't have to look at it. I want to kind of smooth my hair around it, so it's not frizzy, I'm doing a cold shot right now and then do I have to take it off. Look how big this thing is. It'S like a freaking huge, I'm gon na have to definitely watch some other YouTube videos to figure out how to work. This thing one thing I'm a little curious about is, if I can curl more at the top and leave the ends a little bit straighter with this, like a more of a beachy kind of curl river Murphy session spray Flex, they're kind of smooth, I'm kind of Going a little crazy with it, I'm gon na speed this up. My hair holds a curl very well because of my texture and it being bleached. So I expected to be like a loose super loose wave by the end of the day. All right, hi Marsha you wan na, be on YouTube. We just got back from our honeymoon when I was on my honeymoon decide to cut my hair off because I'm over it, but I was like first, let me get a dice and see if it makes me change my mind. Let me Splurge so I have stuff everywhere, because I should be unpacking and cleaning my house but uh, I'm not playing my new toy. Mr Big, let's try it! Thank you. Oh good Clips, Swatch watch. Oh Come See, Watch what it does you'll be able to curl. My hair, for me it's not any faster, I'm already up to 20 minutes much. Do yours I'll give you royalties if we get famous, I can't round brush my own hair, like I can do clients like with a brush and blow dryer, so the round brush thing ought to be pretty cool on it. My friend swore by her she's, like I can't live without it. She had me like overnight it to her when she forgot it again all right now that I'm at the top, I think I'm going to use the smoothing brush on it for a sec and, oh it like sucks the hair into it. What okay? It'S like sucking! My hair into it whoa uh, okay, that's pretty cool! Three years later, this would have been nice on my honeymoon honestly, because I never once fixed my hair in nine days. Why do it whenever you're just gon na swim the next day? Oh Lord, oh Lord! What have I done getting this started? I thought this was gon na take 20 minutes. We'Ll probably never do this again. I'M gon na put some oil run it through my hair to kind of defreeze thanks for watching all right. So, let's talk, I am back on today's Saturday. I don't know where to look. I think I need to look over here because that's where the camera is, but my face is here I don't know, but today's Saturday I did my hair on Thursday and I haven't brushed it. I haven't done anything with it. I'Ve been putting it up and down all throughout the day every day, because I can't say I'm wearing my hair down with this, and I took like five showers since then. I put my hair in a shower cap whenever I would take a shower or a bath, and this is what it looks like. What is that two days later, so I did it on Thursday all day Friday, and now it's Saturday um. It is looking as expected, like a wave, not a curl um. My hair is kind of Tangled and an easy brush, but I know it's going to pull some of it out. The only thing that I did was like brush it and fluff it and flip my hair upside down and do some hairspray, but this will give you an idea of how it falls if you have thick coarse hair that holds a curl really well so I'll give You my first impression on it and my honest feedback, and that is that, if you have hair like me and you're wanting to curl your hair with it, it's not worth it. You could just blow dry your hair and then curl it with a big curling iron. For less time, but I did already recommend it to one of my friends that has a perfect hair type for this, so she's got like long um kind of kinda. I want to say fine, but it's chemically treated blonde bleached hair, so her hair holds occur really well and she has the perfect kind of hair for this. So I messaged her and I was like you - need one she's like really I've been thinking about it. So for me I was mainly looking forward to curling my hair with it and for me it's just not practical um. This is, after just using it one time my review on it, so it my first impression my feelings could change. I'M gon na have to try all of the other attachments and follow up and maybe make another video about it. But my general feelings for today is that if you have hair like me and you're, looking forward to curling your hair with it, it's not worth it. But if you have normal expectations like, I had unrealistic expectations that this thing was going to work miracles and that it was going to take me 20 minutes. And that was just not gon na happen. But if you have a normal amount of hair - and you want to try it out unless I go for it, but I'm looking forward to trying the rest of it, I I do love how my hair looks, but I could have achieved the same result. Much quicker in probably 20 minutes um. It would have taken longer to blow dry it and curl it, but I could have achieved the same results much quicker without using it, but um I do like it.
