Hi, I'm Michelle Simone and I'm a hair stylist and today I'm going to show you a medieval hairstyle. So in medieval times they were all about the braids lots of braids intricate braids, this one's going to be easy to do for your. You know if you're doing a Halloween, costume, you're doing some sort of themed party, but we're going to start with a nice middle part. It'S going to give you a nice strong, look and then I'm going to take front section from each side and just make a nice little braid, and then I'm going to take that braid and braid it through to the bottom. If you have beads to put in with these braids even better, but for now we're just going to do nice and simple regular braids with some rubber bands, so this is going to look nice when we lace it through with another braid. You can end it at any point, so I'm just going to secure that for now and then we're going to take this braid and create a larger braid with the right section of her hair. So I'm taking it to three parts, including the small braid, into the front piece and just braid it through now, if you're going all out with your costume, I might add a little bead into the braid here or add, like a gold cuff around part of the Braid, it's a lot of different things. You can do with this, but you just braid it all the way down to the bottom and secure it with rubber band. I know they probably didn't have rubber bands in medieval times, but that's okay. You can cover it up with a ribbon if you want and then we're going to go ahead and do the same thing on the other side. So you're going to secure the end of that braid with another rubber band, and here you have a fun and easy medieval hairstyle. You

Molly Elizabeth Wellbelove: Ok... so i know this video is super old but I’ll still comment. I work in an medieval “theme park” and there are literal rules (from original sources) and your age actually mean A LOT when it comes to your hairstyle. Girls from age 0-12 are allowed to wear their hair almost how they want it with only very few rules (not going to got into detail, it not really important). From age 12 your family will start to look for a husband for you to marry (if they haven already) and from this age you have to wear your hair tied up (some even cover it but you don’t have to), because having it loose might give the men bad ideas and repulsive thoughts... (I’ll leave the rest to your imagination ;) ). Once married you have to cover all your hair and only your husband is allowed to see it undone in the privacy of the bedchamber. Hope this helps you if you were confused :) (Also I apologize for any spelling mistakes and/or grammatical errors... I’m danish) Have a great day

thegreenmanofnorwich: It seems a little basic, but it's nice enough and competently done. I have no idea what protocols were for women of different ages, marital statuses, social classes, and geographical areas at different points in time. This one looked maybe like something simple for a peasant girl, but then again, I still know nothing about the protocols, so perhaps not.

Cheyanne Murray: Uhhh... braided pigtails? Is this accurate? I could be wrong, but I don't remember seeing any braided pigtails in any illuminated manuscripts. I most often see hair braided tightly to the head, covered with a scarf, or down completely. Anyone know for sure?
