DISCLAIMER: This video was made in partnership with Dyson. If you have been watching me for a long time, you'll know that I have been using Dyson products for YEARS (in and outside the salon) and that my opinions are always honest and my own. That being said, I'm very excited they reached out to work with me to educate you on the new Dyson Airwrap Multi Styler. The description may also contain affiliate links. This helps support the channel and allows us to continue to make videos like this. Thank you for your support & thank you to Dyson for working with me on this!

What'S good everybody, or should i say, what's new everybody here we have dyson air wraps the first generation and the new next generation reintroduced dyson air app multi-styler. The question is: how does this tool compare to the original? What have they changed? What have they phased out and what have they upgraded? That'S what we're going to cover in today's video, as i side by side style, my hair with the older generation and the new and improved to see if the newbie is really going to be faster and equal, easier, styling without extreme heat as a dyson partner, i've Been one of the first people to get to try the dyson air wrap next generation and i have got all the air facts right from the source so buckle in and keep watching to see. All of my styling, i got ta get right to it. My hair's drying - i don't want to air dry, my hair. I want to air wrap my hair. I have already gone ahead and prepped my hair and if your hair is curly, then listen up prepping the hair is essential. You should always make sure that you're applying a heat protectant, no matter what hair you have, but you're also going to get better results on curly hair. If you dry from wet, don't let the hair air dry a little bit if your curly hair is not wet. When you get started, then you're going to be disappointed. There are two ways that we not four two ways that we can reshape the hair from its natural state. We either have to use extreme heat or air. So if we're using air, we got ta start with wet hair. So what is included with your dyson airwrap multi styler, the first generation and older model, had 11 tools and accessories which might sound great. But honestly it was a lot of material. Personally, i didn't even use all of the attachments. I didn't find that i needed all of them for my hair, and it was a lot to carry less in this case, is more dyson's goal was to reduce the amount of attachments, increase, efficiency and better our results. So, while the next generation dyson air wrap, multi styler comes with less tools and attachments, you are getting more out of them, so i have the dyson air wrap multi styler, complete long in copper, nickel. It comes with seven tools and attachments in this gorgeous carrying case in canada. It is also available in complete, which comes with shorter barrels, but the complete long, which is what i have has longer barrels for longer, hair and also more versatility. My hair isn't crazy long, but even if your hair is short, i would recommend the long attachments, because one day you may decide to grow your hair and they work just the same but anyways. These are all the attachments included in the set which we are going to style with and talk through right now. So, let's see here, we have the initial dryer one of the biggest changes that dyson made was phasing out this dryer and introducing the new dual action. Coanda smoothing dryer what makes her smoothing well you'll, get to see the flyaway attachment in action at the end of this video, but first you would use this attachment to pre-style the hair and give it a bit of a rough dry before you go in with the Attachments now, although you want the hair to be wet, you don't need it to be soaking wet so to first take the hair from wet to damp, take the rotating cool tip and turn it until the arrow is aligned with that arrow there, and so that you Can see the airflow right here? Obviously, if your hair is more naturally on the smooth straight to very loose wavy side, you want to start with your rough dry to about 80 percent dry, but when you have curly hair just use this until your hair is no longer dripping. So let's talk about how this is feeling so far, the actual body of the stylers feel the exact same which, if you've never held one before it, is very comfortable in the hand the weight is distributed really well within the tool and the way it comfortably fits In the hand, perfectly aligns, with my thumb, to turn on the device and adjust the strength of the airflow and the temperature. There are three different settings of each and a cold shot when you push up the power button as i'm rough drying, the hair i'm noticing more control with the new attachment, because there is a smaller port for the air to flow out of. There is much more control which actually helps with smoothing as well any time you're doing a rough dry. You don't want to actually roughly dry and with the older blow dryer attachment, i feel like it really blew the hair around which, if you have curly hair the tighter your curl pattern. The sooner you want to bring out your smoothing attachments, the new dyson air wrap still comes with two smoothing brushes with the ball tips at the end of the teeth, very gentle on the scalp and then the firm smoothing brushes, which are better for curly textured hair, Which is what i will be using here. I want you to look up close. The biggest difference between the smoothing brushes is that the bristles move so much more. The biggest change that dyson made to the smoothing attachments was the amount of airflow that flows through them. The older attachments definitely took longer to dry and smooth the section compared to the new attachments. I could actually feel the difference in the power of the airflow. Definitely dried. The hair fast, both left the hair, looking smooth and fabulous, but efficiency wise. There is a big difference with the new attachments that i really appreciate. I actually didn't feel like. I got much use out of the older smoothing attachments. I would usually run straight for the round brush attachment. I truly would not be able to live without the round brush attachment, so dyson kept these the same. These are about a one and a half smaller barrel round, brush and they're meant for adding volume to fine hair, but i like using these to further smooth and shape the roots and the ends of my hair. If they need it, you can see what a difference it makes because the round brush has so many more bristles. It'S going to give a lot more tension to the hair and really pull and smooth out any kinks we'll time how long these take me to finish. The top section of my hair and we'll start with the new air wrap, so this section can continue to air dry and give the other one a head start. I am using the tool on high heat and high speed by the way with my texture. Putting it on full heat is going to give me the smoothest results and no i'm not worried about heat damage. This is an air styler. It'S still using air to power. More than it is heat, so, even though it's heat, it's not extreme heat, definitely took me a little bit longer to dry the older side, and i know what you're thinking well, damn it. What if i already have the older version of the air wrap, i have good news for you. The re-engineered attachments are going to be available later on in 2022 and they are all compatible with your original tool. All of the attachments are interchangeable. Now. Give me a second: i am going to interchange these with my round brush attachments and just further finesse up the bangs section. Now the interchangeability is the best part, because wealthies, instead of needing two of these, that you would have to switch out in order to switch the direction of your curl dyson has re-engineered their curling barrels. Now all you have to do is rotate the cool tip to change the direction when curling with my older dyson, it was always a bit of a burden to have to change the curling barrel when i wanted to switch the direction of the curl. So it is definitely more convenient to just be able to simply switch the airflow on the new attachments. It takes less brain power to figure out which attachment to put on it, helps you work more efficiently and the results are obviously very effective. These are just as if not more powerful, plus it's one less tool to carry around as we can see. Both of these are gon na give me stunningly cutesy little curls, but the new one's gon na offer a lot more versatility. I have a very important pro tip to share when curling your hair with the dyson air wrap. You really need to nail that latch now watch me. I hold the tool close to my ends. I let the quanda effect do its thing and attach my hair and i'm slowly going to draw the tool closer towards my roots, while i'm doing that, i'm rocking the tool back and forth, which is helping the hair really grip close to the barrel. This is going to help give me a much smoother and tighter curl, because it's applying more tension on the hair. Finally, once i'm at the root i hold for just a couple seconds before flicking up the power button to activate the cool shot, hold that, for a few more seconds, shut the tool off and release. If you do the curls this way, i promise you they will. Last so much longer in your hair, if you don't already have a dyson air wrap and you have no idea how this works - it's not magic, but it's really cool. So i want to explain the technology behind the cowanda effect. Instead of extreme heat, it uses air to style and dry simultaneously, the air wrap is powered with the dyson digital motor v9. This spins at up to 110 000 rpm, which generates 3.2 kpa, which will allow air and subsequently your hair to almost adhere to the tulle. This is powerful enough to produce the air pressure that is needed to create the kawanda effect. Here we are looking like a curly, really swirly twirly merly, manly, smelly, so good anyways. Let'S finish off the look with the older model, there was no way that you could really finish and tuck away flyaways. But if we pop back on the koanda smoothing dryer, which, as you can see, still fits the older device perfectly, we can rotate the cool tip from pre-styling mode into the smoothing mode to let the hwanda effect work its magic to tuck. In all those short little frizzies and flyaways for a sleeker, more smooth, look i'm going to flick the switch to the cool setting and align this with my parting, see how it was absorbing and pulling up sucking in. If you will the longer strands as it does that it's tucking in the shoulder strands, you can, you can see looking like a smoothie now, i'm thirsty literally amazing, and to further tame this mane. I'M gon na take some hair oil, i'm gon na start with a light. One olaplex bonding oil. I'M gon na apply this through my ends and i'm gon na pop on the soft smoothing dryer and while still on the cool setting, i am going to gently brush through these curls and look at that. It'S just another little trick that you can do to further smooth. What do you guys think of my results? I'Ve always been impressed by the dyson air wrap, but the new attachments are that much better. Absolutely all in one tool you have a multi-styler re-engineered to definitely be a lot more efficient, which i know can be frustrating if you have the older model of the air wrap. But on the bright side, all of the attachments are interchangeable and they will be available to you. So no matter what tool you have you can still use. Do you already have the older dyson and if you do, are you going to be adding the new attachments? I highly recommend - and i will put the links for them in the description box below make sure you give this video a thumbs up if you found this tutorial helpful in order to achieve this, look on curly hair and stay tuned by subscribing to see more tutorials And tips and tricks from me, humane girl, mouth, professional, hair, stylist and naturally curly girl, ready we've got a new wrap in the backs, rap gift, there's a new wrap in the backs and we're going to talk about what i think about that. Manes by Mell: this is my first real tutorual with the airwrap on my hair! It's an incredible machine that can work amaizng for you, once you understand how to work it. I hope if you have a dyson or have been eyeing one, that you found this tutorial on curly hair helpful! I've also used it on my mom and she still uses it to blow dry her own hair all the time, she's obsessed with it lol video here: https://youtu.be/uqxojP7id_A

Maggie: Yeah I’ll definitely be purchasing the new attachments for my old one. Especially the smoothing one for those pesky fly away hairs. That’s much better than constantly flat ironing so close to the roots.

Julia Pearson: I've watched a couple of side by side reviews and can't see that the newer tools are giving a better result so I will not be rushing out to buy them. I didn't mind changing the barrels as it gave them a chance to cool down. I wish they had given us a bigger round brush with better bristles - that I would have got.

Rachael A: You should do a tutorial on hot rollers! My hair looks like complete trash every time I use them. I've tried different sizes. Rolling them different. And my hair looks so bad after I use them

dancingmelissa1: I know this is irrelevant but I just did the pigtail cut on myself today. Thank you so so so much. My hairstylist retired and I don't trust everyone with my curls and just.. Thank you

aea6498: love your channel!! your video with you and amanda showing your mom the airwrap around the holidays made me purchase the new one!! i love it so far!! love your videos Mell!!!

Mariam Abdelmalik: How long did it take you to style your hair? And how long did the curls/waves last? I haven’t quite figured out my dyson airwrap yet

Dina Leard: I LIVE for the bloopers! "Comfortable with talking about anatomy !?" Absolutely, adults do that. There was a spot when you looked identical to Amanda!! ❤️Seesters!

A Google User: I love the side by side and I like hearing this from you (trusted source) and seeing how it works on curly hair. Thanks!

Cara Cobb: The finished hair is giving Farrah Fawcett but better and I’m living for it

Anastasia Yu: i actually really wanted to see how airwrap looks on curly hair somewhat similar to mine - very informative, thank you for the video!!

Annalise Martinez: I just found you a week ago and have been taking your advice to heart! I have been reading the ingredients, did the elasticity test, taking into mind my environment, I live in southern Texas close to the water..pretty much an island ..hell I was born on an island ..sooo the humidity is always high here! And I never thought to use uv protection on my hair until your videos! You are truly a gifted woman who is a God send to us curly hair girls everywhere! Thank you for who you are, for embracing who you are and for being hair for us curly girls! I am soo thankful for your videos and advice! Today was the first day i washed, prepped, styled and sealed with a gel to help with the humidity and has uv protection ingredients! My hair truly looks amazing right now and I am just in shock! Thank you Mel!❤

Lena Jea: Caution ⚠️ I’m writing this while watching the vid (great vid btw) but here is my review of the airwrap after using it for like 4 years I’ve been using the airwrap since like late 2018 and I’M SO EXCITED TO GET THIS NEW ONE!! I’ve got super wavy/semi curly hair and honestly frizz hasn’t been a problem (i aint saying its not a problem- its just not a prob for me) anyways after doing my hair it usually lasts like 2-3 days and in the morning I just sometimes retouch the “waves” (they do get a bit looser through the day if I don’t apply hairspray -which I usually don’t) OOP to add as well I travel A LOT and I up till this summer I always brought the whole thing with the box and all, and sure it takes up space but this year I just put it in one of my “protective bags” that come when u buy a new bag like and it’s awesome Do I recommend it? Y.E.S. (if u have money to spend on it and if ur not gonna hassle others to buy it for u) Another thing- I had ppl see it and they wanted to try it and I’m like What else- oh yes they say like “no heat damage” and sure technically that’s true but you’re blasting your hair with hot air and it does get super hot (be careful because I sometimes burn my ear for like 2 seconds) That’s all

Erin McTague: If you’re just going to leave negative comments then don’t leave one at all. I get the same results with my hair when blow drying too but her hair still looked gorgeous. I think it was a good comparison I wish I had money for a Dyson lol.

Is Al: 1. She's partner with dyson. Has said this in countless videos when she uses dyson products and even on her Instagram. 2. If you can't afford it don't buy it. Boom simple. So many hair tools in the market ??? even affordable products come on. o-o yah will complain about everything but refuse to leave and keep it moving ....((for those few who complaining I'm glad people are leaving more positive comments.))

Tanziha Habib: Dyson hair dryer and airwrap has complete ruined my fine 3A-B curls. The lowest heat setting turned my hair to straw even after lot of heat protectant. I'd be mindful of styling hair on high heat and high speed. (I did a test on a hairball by drying it with high heat, and the next day my hairball had completely split and broke off.) I hope it's working for others and not heat damaging other peoples' hair. Maybe my Dysons are just defective.

Juliana Strehl: Greetings from Germany So excited start my journey with you! Are there any signs of what curltype you can expect when you actually have a mix of many types from years of brushing dry?

weeone01: Could you compare the Dyson to the revlon styler?

phoenix: Hey mell. I have really dry scalp at first it was just in few areas of my crown but then I used to pick my scalp a lot then those scabs became even more dry and it is a downwards cycle...it is just soo depressing for me :( I have also given up my dream of having healthy curls because my dry scalp doesn't let me style my curls I have checked out few exfoliating scrubs and deep masks but as I am in high school my budget is quite tight and also I aggressively scratch my scalp as it itches a lot The flakes are small white in colour and dry and only few areas of my scalp have big flakes only those areas where I had aggressively scratched and maybe those big flakes are the scabs Earlier my scalp wasn't itchy bit now that I have irritated my scalp soo much that now it's super flaky scabby, itchy and it's irritating Can you suggest something budget friendly to get rid of those flakes...they reappear after wash after about 9 hours I Nowadays I just use the tresemme botanique nourish and replenish olive oil and camelia oil shampoo nothing else... I have stopped picking my scalp but I doesn't help at all Please help:(

Jackie Tiffin: Interesting how the left side has better/more defined curls though

Lisa Tulak: I love that you always leave the outtakes/bloopers at the end of the video… entertainingly hilarious.

Tessa Rodes: I wonder if using the smoothing hairdryer first would have helped

ny4000: The result looks a bit frizzy. Not very smooth. Not sure if it’s the dyson itself or just the texture of Mel’s hair.

Ruth Kuder: Fun to see your results! Beautiful

Makeup by monisha bathija: Please share the products you would use to prep hair before using the airwrap

Tanairi Mastarreno: I really need a Dyson air wrap in my life but my bank account doesn't agree . Your hair looks so good and healthy! I love how the Dyson didn't have your hair looking dry

Chels F: It’s just so frizzy on curly hair. My revlon brush gives me such a sleek blow out. I can’t spend the money for something that doesn’t give me the results I want.

sarah Guessab: i love your videos its so nice, never found such a good curly hair youtuber

nithya rajasekaran: Hey Mell, before few years when dyson airwrap came you did a tutorial on your hair and said you are not satisfied with it and its not for you. Even in this video the final results looks the same as the previous video, but your review is just different. More than worrying about the authenticity of this video can you please give tips to get better results with this tools cos I have a similar texture to yours and if this is the result of the tool how do you manage a full day with this hair as the style falls out and humidity hits in the hair.

Iria Ferreiro: Great video!!! Looking at both round brushes... Is the metal from the round brush the same on both the new and the old version??

Sonia Burgos: Your hair looks marvelous! I know this question is irrelevant, do you know if the dyson hairdryer with ever launch a larger diffuser? I do not get much volume when I use it!

Judit: If you had to choose, would you buy the airwrap (for curling and the smoothing brushes) or the blow dryer (for the diffuser)? I spent the last half year waiting for the new airwrap model to launch just to realise a month ago, at the young age of 36, that hey wow I actually have wavy hair... So now I don't know what to do

Charlotte W F Smith: I wish they had a diffuser attachment

Valeria Barrera Manzo: Oooh!! Can you compare the air wrap and the original dyson, both with diffuser attachments?? Just to compare dry time

phoenix: Hey mell I am a 15 year old who wants to start her curly journey but whatever I do I am not able to get my dry flakes in control and that's why I have given up on my curly journey They reappear after 9 hours on my wash day and it has made me depressed cause it's been 5-6 months I am currently using tresemme nourish and replenish olive oil and camelia oil shampoo nothing else

Stacey Shaffer: For those of us that buy our hair products at Walmart What's the best heat protection spray and hair oil ??? Thanks for making this video

Heather Dames: Thank you for a nice detailed presentation. Is there anyway you could use a real person with type 3C or type 4 Coils to demonstrate the correct way to use tge dyson to straighten the hair.

Jonathan Cruz Cole: I love Dyson products. My wallet does not love Dyson products.

Ava Mae: Thank you so much for this video! Can you please do a video for summer hairstyles. My hair after the pool is so knotty and I would love some easy hairstyles

Despoina_Gerontidi MUA: Mellllllll did you tried beaytybay's curly hair products? Are they cgm approved?

Deanna: Happy Texture Tuesday!! My favorite day!! Much love and happiness!! Xoxo

Melissa: Thank you. Looks amazing on you and wonderful!

Tanis Gentle: I don’t have the luxury of affording any Dyson appliance… Is there a tutorial for Caucasian fine processed wavy hair to get roots at the back of head straight (that will also hold overnight)? No matter what I do I can NEVER get my wavy roots in the back out. And even if I get close to, I can’t sleep in it and not have to re-flatiron the roots at back underneath. It’s so frustrating and causing more damage with heat! Please help, if post photos if I could!! :’(

Lynzi Collins: Happy texture Tuesday!! Extra special one for me ❤️❤️❤️

Shruti Marathe Devdhar: You are hilarious! I have the old one and will probably hang on to it till I'm 80 :P

Erica Elliott: Your hair looks great beautiful.

Sophia Aloeristok: Still desperately want a dyson lol

Maria: I get Charles angels vibes with that hair and I LOOOOOOOVVVVVVVEEEEEE IT!!!!!

A Google User: Very cool! Thank you!!

Kathy Sahori: ohmygoshhhhhhh your hair looks amazingggggg

K_ A: Can you review SHEENs deep conditioner, hair oil, and curl styler?

Melina Sica: Don’t let me buy it with these video i’m so tempting to buy it but it is soooo expensive! However good comparison! But still love your videos!

thaliaaxvo: For the amount of money for this hair your hair should look much better

Andrea Dake: Hope you can fix your audio. Had to turn your video all the way up in my earbuds to get any type of decent volume. Also, it's really echoey

wesam: Can you teach Muslims girls how to keep thier curly hair under the hijab I hope you will

Carmen Rodriguez Pesante: Can you try the African Pride collection of please

Junior Chaves o Picasso de Yahushua: 0:12 You are truly beautiful asf. Your beauty is supernatural!!

Swan The Queen: It totally sounds more like an ad to force new one lmao. You are not even trying with the old one side super obvious.

Thebestisyettocome: "Hair we have."

Teeba Bettum: Happy Tuesday girrrl

leslie sanchez:

Hakeao ODA: Thought she was holding 2 lightsabers.

Aleksandra Lempart: Erection I am wheezing

Minerva G: This feels like a paid ad :/ "fits perfectly in your thumb" e.g.

Tanairi Mastarreno: I liked the video and it disappeared lol

Alma Pinto: i’m sooo early

Molly Soukup: earlyyyy

JayRunItUp: First comment woo

kenzgirl777: So this is a 12 min ad?

Binky The Goddess Divine: She needs to practice how to blow dry her hair. The end product was a frizzy mess with no shine. I can blow dry my curly hair and end up with smooth, bouncy, silky hair. You don't need this super expensive product. Just get yourself a top blow dryer and a good quality round boar bristle brush, and you're good to go.

Cat Sav: 1. Disclose the sponsorship up front. 2. Nearly the entire video is out of focus.

PedanticSkeptic: This is the most selfish video I have seen after her sister’s Sephora squad video like keeping it in the family worst Alabama style

PedanticSkeptic: She don’t care about your hair no more

TOS CrossAlert: this is the most annoying review
